    For anyone who‘s curious about nino‘s ftp. Should be around 380-390 or about 5.8 w/kg. In Peak i think it‘s more like 6w/kg... 💪

      i came to cape town in 2008 and i loooved the place. Not used to the crime like back here in wales, uk but other than that what a beautiful place. I wasnt mtb back then but i am now. Thinking of doing the cape epic or just come and ride around there. Whats it like for xc trails? Thank you

      Thats awesome man, im not an xc rider i just ride all the trails I can find and they are really fun. There are amazing xc trails in Cortzenburg because the world cup was here 2 or 3 years ago( im not sure when it was because I only starter properly riding in 2018) and the trails are free to ride. Theres also gspot next to coetzenburg and it is a flowy trail with lots of jumps and big berms, gspot is one of my favourate places to ride. There is also Jonkershoek wich is amazing, it does cost money buy our currency is really weak compared to pounds so it would be real cheap for you, bkxc(the yt channel) rode at Jonkershoek and he has a vid on it.
      Stellenbosch is an amazing place for riding🤘

    Best one minute power for me is 480 @ 77kg.
    3.6 watts/kilo is the best I've ever achieved when I was "training".
    Hard to comprehend someone putting out numbers like that!

    For enduro/dh do most spend winter training with building muscle from lifting weights 70% of training time and say 30% cycling leisurely then later in winter training switch the training to more bike specific work along with balance and coordination?

      hola comenta que el hace los intervalos de intensidad entre 3 a 5 mins con descansos de recuperacion y puedes hacer una total de hasta 25 min o el maximo 40 min en total para ese entrenamiento y que necesariamente debes tner un dispocitivo para medir eso asi cmo calentar 20 mins antes de, con eso debes aumentar tu vo2 max que es la capacidad de bombear oxigeno y cuanto de ese es usado por tus musculos. dice que este entrenamiento es duro o didficil y que puedes hacer simulacion de una carrera y aprovechar los descensos para recuperarte saludos amigo

    A NiNo le ponen cualquier bicicleta y sigue siendo el mejor, lastima que la marca que usa como lo es Scott, tiene el peor servicio al cliente y la manera de resolver los problemas de garantía es la peor. No la recomendaría solo por el tipo de servicio que dan con las garantías

    Despite what Nino says, his 460 watts is actually not high intensity. It is only medium intensity. 460 is merely where vo2max begins for a top cyclist like Nino, but it does NOT stop there. There is a wider spectrum of wattages at which you will reach vo2max. This training technique in the video is simply not good enough. I guarantee Nino's intensity during races gets way higher, past 600, 1000, probably higher than 1200 at the last 200 meters, or more. Anyone who trains for racing should be also training at 600 watts intervals, 1000 watt intervals, and 1500 watt intervals or whatever is your top end. If you race at these wattages, but failing to train these same wattages, then you are unnecessarily slow in your races. Consider Van der Poel, whose 20 second power is higher than 460 watts, I guarantee it. 1000 watts is where you begin to see all cross country racers' high intensity, and training must reflect this. 460 watts is fine to train at, and important to do, but must be complemented by higher watts in training too.

      Well obviously he is not doing 5 minute intervals for every training session. 460 watts is ridiculous for 5 minutes and is definitely intensity training, it all varies on time. He is hitting his vo2 max in heart rate, which, since vo2 max is based on your cardiovascular system, is getting him intensity training. For sure he has interval sessions with 20s sprints where he is easily averaging over 1000 watts, that's also intensity. He probably also does 1 minute intervals, and 30 second intervals. But he isn't going to show everyone his exact training. It's important to recognize that what he is showing is great for any level of athlete but that it is not nearly everything he is doing. Proper training requires diversity.

      It’s a VO2 max session not a sprint session- did you even look at the zones they put up? And I’m not sure very many people are allowed to tell the Olympic and World champion he is training wrong. 😂

      He's showing one workout design here, not all the workouts he does. He's training his VO2max/aerobic capacity, not his CP or even VLamax/glycolytic system. I don't think you understand the purpose of why he's doing these intervals. In addition, MTB XC is a predominantly aerobic sport, with brief efforts of supra-maximal intensity throughout, but almost never at maximum intensity other than off the line, a few attacks or finish sprint (this relates much more to anaerobic endurance rather than anaerobic capacity/power). The biggest determinants of performance of MTB XC are lactate threshold, VO2max and the interaction of the two (fractional utilisation of the VO2). Comparing 20 second power to a VO2max effort and these intervals of 5 minutes is completely illogical and totally missing the purpose of what he is trying to achieve with this workout. Plus, your mentions of 1000w, 1500w etc is totally arbitrary - there are many world cup racers who won't peak at 1000w for the entire race (for reasons of weight, riding style etc). You're falling into the age-old trap of 'specificity' rules all; training doesn't and shouldn't always reflect exactly what goes on in a race and the constituent parts of performance need to be worked on in isolation to improve the sum total of race fitness. When you're training VO2max, you want to engineer the workout so you can spend the most time in the correct zone for that particular purpose and to elicit specific adaptations - saying you can reach VO2max with lots of different intensities is again missing the point. As an example, you wouldn't use a 1 min max effort for VO2max-targeted training because the rapid fatigue of caused by acidosis would prevent any more than about 90 seconds being performed per interval (with maybe a max of 6-8 intervals in a given workout), of which you may spend 30-45 seconds >90-95% heart rate max each. Good for training the glycolytic system (rapid breakdown of carbohydrate for high power output), bad for VO2max training (since even though there will be a small amount of aerobic capacity stimulation, this won't amount to anywhere near as much as a 5 minute interval or Billat's variable power protocol would). I think Nino and his coach's know the drill and it would be wise to understand the mechanisms and purpose behind is workout before making such bold statements like "this training technique in the video is simply not good enough".

The man is an absolute machine, top of his game. I think he knows a little bit more than u mate. Maybe you should show us all your numbers and the results u get in races
