One huge advantage to major brands is that it is easy (ok, maybe not easy) to get your watch looked at and sent for repair, using OEM parts. If you own a Ming or this brand and you live in Iowa and you want it fixed, good luck, because they will have a very small factory and an even smaller section dedicated to repairs. AND, older brands like Patek, Rolex, Omega, etc. have made their movements sturdier over the years so they are far more reliable than in the past. Newer indies may not produce such robust watches out of the gate.
Both small and big brands have their advantages, however there are still small brands like us and a few others that are invested in going above and beyond to provide the level of service and reliability of the major brands you mention. The exception is not the rule, we wish it were however being the exception is incredibly challenging and the reason most simply would play Dark Souls as Watchfinder said in their video. As it pertains to most smaller brands and even to some medium to larger sized brands most outsource their product development and rely primarily on third party movement and agencies to bring their creation to light, this also goes with their service. In fact many do not even have the product enter their office or country where they are located, most are simply shipped factory direct. This is because the barrier to entry is extremely high and access to the minds and suppliers to help them achieve this are for the most part in Switzerland. A brand that is located elsewhere in the world reliant on an agency and movement supplier in Switzerland is much more at risk of underserving their customer base. Horage is in an interesting position in that we have our own engineering and watchmaking team and we have been engineering movements since 2008 with what we feel are some of the most talented minds with a deep understanding of industrial process management. Our location is in Biel/Bienne which is the same home of two of the brands you mention Rolex and Omega, they are both about 1 kilometre either side of us. Us like them rely on close partners within our town and surrounding area to bring our movements to life. In fact all parts aside from our silicon escapement that we engineer, but produce in Germany come from within a 35km radius of our town, even the big guys have to buy their silicon parts and try to snap up suppliers whenever possible. For 20 years now we have provided some of the biggest in the Swiss watch industry parts and project management to ensure their projects come to light. We have learned a lot about the pains of a big brand and also realized the disconnection most have from design to production and most importantly from brand to consumer. Sturdiness of movements is something you mention and this comes from time and industrialization processes like the brands have done which you mention. We too have been invested in industrializing manufacture processes to ensure quality product and service at all costs. Our engineers are watchmakers and that means the very person developing our movements is also de-risking them heavily over years of prototyping. Additionally when it comes to service those same persons are the ones servicing the watches which provides an even higher level of service than the big brands could offer. By being smaller we have many advantages as we can be far more agile and have a direct line between customer service and the very engineer that developed the movement. Customers are provided with a much more transparent inquiry, sales and service process then they would experience from the big groups. The world has changed a lot especially within the last year. Digital communication has helped expedite process for those that embrace them and bring their customers along for the ride. After all the customer is the only one that keeps a brands lights on, all others in a brands network rely on a brand to go above and beyond for their customer. We communicate very openly with our customer base and unlike many of the larger brands we have implemented live calls from our production and invite our customers in on calls to see just what might be going. If a watch requires service we have a few locations in the world now, however to ensure we provide the best we prefer that watches come to our facility in Biel, to do so we arrange courier pickup from the customers location and it ships directly to us, after service it is shipped via courier back. We have had very positive feedback on this and this is because our customer service is closing tied to production and watchmakers. There is a reason most are just discovering us now and that is because when most brands start budgets are allocated to marketing. We have had many ask us to spend more on marketing, but if we did that we would have to take resources from engineering, watchmaking, and ultimately de-risking of our production. Rather than do the hard stuff first the easiest, shortest and less costly road is to outsource and double down on marketing. This is completely ok, because after all watches are a hobby and the vast differences in this industry keep the fascination of our mechanical world alive, but at some point there should be a point smaller brands start thinking like a bigger brand and investing in their own infrastructure and IP to ensure they can provide long term support to their community. Most unfortunately over spend on marketing and continue to leave the innovation to 3rd parties. Our approach and why most are only discovering us more recently has been again due to our determination to focus on the hard stuff first. A deep understanding in industrial processes has helped us to ensure a stable movement supply, IP security and security in movement supply as an independent. By doing this we can come to market with a sound product, sound service and be able to stand on our own amongst the best of them. There was a lot to unpack there and you and anyone else is welcome to visit us in Biel or join in on any of our live calls from our facility to see just how we go about making watches. Thank you.
Amazing piece at that price. However there is only 19 Jewels on a tourbillon movement? Can't help but notice the pallet fork tip did not use jewel or is it that silicon escapement doesn't require it?
A low jewel count is a sign of good engineering. More jewels simply means there are more friction points by reducing friction points one can squeeze the maximum potential out of a movement.

I’d say the big players are spitting feathers now this has been created. Remember when they all lost their shit after Tag Heuer released a $15,000 tourbillion!😆
Don't think the big players are worried at all. In this game, top players know brand/status is everything and clients want to pay alot for the image/status. Tag and 15k wouldn't even be considered by those looking at Breguet,ALS, AP, for the sheer fact it doesn't cost enough....look at the success of RM following this strategy..overpriced mediocre pos In reality but its owners are interested in flexing "cost" above all
@@cy4624 The big players may not have been ‘worried’ about the Tag Heuer and may not be ‘worried’ now but they let their feelings be known and slammed Tag Heuer for producing and selling such a ‘cheap’ tourbillion watch saying that it could seriously affect the Swiss watch industry🤷🏻♂️
@@sjsisdhdjdkssosjdhxnx Why though? Just because you’re a watch snob that can afford a Richard Mille for hundreds of thousands of dollars it doesn’t mean that the ‘cheaper’ watches are garbage.
@@biohayzer because for that money you can buy a decent watch that is not trying to be what its not. A good example is a true super car like a Ferrari and someone wasting money on a lookalike car thinking he can compete with Ferrari owners at a car show. Everyone can understand that when it comes to cars the same goes with watches. You cannot compete or compare your Chinese tourbillion or a budget Swiss tourbillion with works of art like Patek, JLC, Lange, FP Journe, Vacheron or AP. I like RM but disregarding the hype, even they cannot compete with the apex watches of those brands that I mentioned.

If I had $10k to put towards a watch it'd either be a White Birch, Blue Santos or this. The story alone is worth half the price. Whilst the other two are established pieces of beauty, refinement, history and innovation in it's own way, this Horage would feel unmistakable special, and from a collectors stand point, is the kind of watch that 20-30 years from now could be seen as a Proto work of a great house or movement.
Watches like these are precisely why I’m not into quartz watches! Watchmaking art at its best! I also like the fact that it’s a skeleton and not an open heart watch because I hate the way open heart dials look! Well done and finally a tourbillion from Switzerland that’s not totally and utterly overpriced!
Dont sleep on quartz. Theres some really fascinating pieces with crazy tech and romantic stories behind them. Check out the omega f300hz movements, or the bulova accutron. On par with mechanical with the all round beauty.
@@atsukoC-m9k yeah, the Accutron is nice, but it's not a quartz watch. Quartz watches definitely have their place in homology and they can do things mechanical watches can't, but they're not for me.
Thank you.
You’re making me drool again. Fascinating stellar presentation!
Watchfinder turned the drool factor to 11. Thank you.
Amazing piece at that price. However there is only 19 Jewels on a tourbillon movement? Can't help but notice the pallet fork tip did not use jewel or is it that silicon escapement doesn't require it?
yes this is silicon escapement. and good engineering work will reduce the jewels amount ;)
A low jewel count is a sign of good engineering. More jewels simply means there are more friction points by reducing friction points one can squeeze the maximum potential out of a movement.
Unbelievable 😍 your videos never disappoint. Thank you!

Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to do this. 🖖🏻🖖🏻👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🥃🥃
Beautiful watch, quality and simply masterful! And as usual, a brilliant review Watchfinder! 👍 🙏
Jaw dropping story and timepiece. Thanks for the video :)
What a wonderful display of engineering. Complements to Horage on this achievement, and I’m looking forward to others following in their footsteps.
Thank you very much for the kind words.
Great Storytelling! Well done watchfinder!
They nailed it 👍
Those specs on that tourbillon are INSANE. That's a beautiful story.
Wonderful to hear you discovered us here. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
@@HORAGE if I'm being honest, I love what I'm seeing but I personally have a hard time buying any watch over 500USD if I can't try it on in person. But if y'all ever come to NYC, or I travel to one of your locations, I definitely will be checking out the collection first thing!
Does the Tourbillohave any advantage over a typicabalance wheel watch? Or just for appearance?
Well done video! Thank you.
Just appearance
I was really impressed by everything I heard, then my jaw dropped when he said the base material is 904L Steel! What a gorgeous time piece
No corner cutting here 😉
Everything you show on your channel, I can not afford but I'll give you a subscribe because of your video quality, clarity and excellent explanations
Now, why would you put a pointer on the tourbillon but neglect to put second hash marks on the dial?? Also, I didn’t see any jewels on the pallet in the escapement. They have to be there. Right??
Guess they tested its not needed due to the silicone material used for the escapement and pallet fork
We need the pointer to pass COSC. Because COSC is measuring visually and we need to have an indication for that.
Andi replied already and as mentioned it is for chronometer certification. Thank you for asking.
Wow, hats off to Horage for sticking it out and slam-dunking it! What a great success story.
Many thanks for the kind words and suppport!
The roughness of this watch is strangely nice and suits the watch quite well.
We like deep brushes… hard to make and just gives this brute look but still refined.
Is the Horage accurate? How accurate? Please unpack this.
Reaching COSC level accuracy is our benchmark. However we have customers telling us they are getting 1-2 seconds of deviation a day, which is wonderful to hear from them.
Video games and watches… a man after my own heart. Keep it up chap
Thanks to my good friend Markus L. We are also into mountainbiking 😍
Where can I buy this beauty?
Well goddam! I pre ordered one.
Amazing story, love that dial, amazing.
Fantastic, thank you so much!

This story and the watch are complete amazing! Thank you Mr. Talking Hands for showing us so many great, obscure watches
We are very happy you enjoyed our story.

@@HORAGE Thanks for the personal reply, you're not going to see that from Patek or AP anytime soon. That means something to me. I myself am trying to get to school and become a Watchmaker. After all humans invented Time, mastery of it is well worth dedicating ones life to

Thanks for great video that discusses the various details of making a high end watch!
Is there a book that discusses this, by any chance?!?
simply WOW! incredible engineering. great story. desirable time piece. Im really digging this video. this channel, the host, the content: you guys inspire me to GO FOR IT! keep up the great work 👍🏽

@@HORAGE when and if Im in your parts, I'll try it on for size and we can go from there.. thanks!
There is stock and COSC certified watches are also back in stock 😊
$8k for this masterpiece is a steal! I would prefer this over a submariner.
It is beautiful. I like the submariner though.. However this watch has a nice skeleton look.. That square hatch design is great. A second hand for me would be good...also an auto winding feature is missing.. You get the tourbillon though........ Hmmm tough decision.
If you missed out on Tourbillon 1 be sure to check out our latest tourbillon project Lensman 1!
This is truly one beautiful watch, I wouldn't even wear it, it would just be on display in the house and I would look at it everyday. awesome video, really makes one appreciate the "time" that goes into a piece like this,
For 8 grand you’d have to be mega damn rich to wear it and risk scratching any part of that s.o.b.
Love your Content, thanks for the premium reviews. 👌❤️
Is Horage considering doing more dress oriented watches-complications such as monopussoirs or enamel dials?
It would be interesting to see this
We are always evolving and have some interesting projects on the horizon 😉.

I’m not surprised the Swiss made it in time and with the outstanding quality . That is Switzerland as it best
We really had our Swissness tested with this one. Thank you for the kind comment.
As one of the founders of Horag and being a German and I have to admit, that the Swiss are definitely the best at making mechanical watches.
I am going to buy Ingersoll skeleton watch please guide me is it good??
I’m curious to what the warranty is. Checked on the site but didn’t find. Seriously considering this beautiful watch…
@@HORAGE thank you!
My god, what a watch, and how you narrate the story man really you are so talented
They really did an incredible job and thank you for the kind words on the watch.
If the Rolex waiting list were a video game, it would be Dark Souls.
😂👏
Absolutely stunning watch design, ultra modern and still timeless, and an amazing price I didn't think was possible for a Swiss Made tourbillon. I'm an owner of the Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbuillon. This is my next watch I'm going to buy :) thanks for a fantastic video as well, you make them very professionally
What do you think of
the Agelocer Tourbillon?
Somehow I want one so bad right now! This watch is a game changer! Just a suggestion, it would be nice to see a closed dial version and the Tourbillon as the star of the show. I think the open dial takes away from the It. But I still like it. Phenomenal work!
Let’s see what the future will bring 😉
I want to buy it, where can I buy it?
surreal. I am probably going to buy this. 😳
Thank you! Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. Thank you in advance for the support!
tourbillons are really the nicest watches i love them. if i was rich i would have one in every top watch brand but for now i will find the nicest inexpensive tourbillons, and this is next on my list. beautiful time piece !!...
As a member of the big players club, I would laugh and pity anyone who wears this.
Can you tell me which options this watch in the video has (ie case color and movement color?) Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for asking. The case is the brushed option and the movement is grey. Feel free to reach out any time.

Thank you!!
Great watch stunning how much is this
Thank you! We will keep doing out best to bring more to market at fair prices.
Wow this is even cheaper than the TAG's.
Thank you!
The only quartz watches I'd ever buy is a diving computer or a solar powered watch, but that's about it. I forgot spring drive powered watches. They're a quartz/mechanical hybrid and absolutely awesome!
My OCD can't stand the location of the seconds pointer on the Tourbillion. The pointer should be opposite the hairspring stake for better symmetry.
