Polly’s dad really got a new gf, heard her “suggest” shipping his well-behaved daughter off to boarding school, and then arranged to send Polly the _next week_ 💀
the thing about her dad not introducing his new girlfriend until they were engaged? my mother introduced me to her boyfriend (now husband) when they moved in together (less than half a year after they met (again. it's a long story)) and they got so drunk that day they couldn't even get the apartment door open (my dad had died of alcoholism earlier that year) very realistic movie, 10/10, need to watch
While my mum and aunt were ready adults, their dad didn’t tell them about his new lady until they were legit like a week off getting married. It’s chill though cus she’s my favourite grandma.
In hindsight I think I had a huge crush on Beth 💀 also there was a background track called “rock and roll girl” that _still_ comes into my head every so often.
Listen… the scene in Polly World when they rise onto the stage to a perform after being trapped in the basement is one of the most iconic scenes on god Also I think they were able to leave because of a lever hidden under a pile of clothes or somethig
Every time I imagine my characters perform it always has to involve one or all of them rising from below. Sometimes the one that rises was stuck in that basement below the stage! That scene was so iconic, I keep bringing it back even though I watched that movie 8 years ago!
I mean. I didn't, but I also already had contamination focused OCD by the time I got any Polly Pockets, so it wouldn't have even occurred to me to do that because of the germs... Really that says more about my mental health than children's behavior though...
I remember watching Polly World (partly because I have one of the playsets), but I don't think I ever watched the others. I'm surprised to find out my purple car/limo with a jacuzzi was actually featured in one of the movies and wasn't just a unique toy
love the community getting together to confessing to chewing on the polly pocket clothes, i didnt have any of the dolls but my parents bought me the clothes as i kept chewing on my sisters ones clothes and she would get so mad
never watched the movies but i had the happy meal toys. they came in cases that were shaped like mp3 players or microphones and i'm pretty sure you could decorate them with stickers, and they had clothes you could snap on the doll - shit was peak
I almost completely forgot about these movies, for me they were just some vague memory of some movie I watched when I was 3. I still remember eating the silicone clothes though
I love these movies reviews, it’s like looking at weird old comments from some fan Wiki that went dead years ago and just seeing how strange some these get.
oh god, i freaking loved pollyworld as a kid. i have no idea why, i guess it was the mid-late 2000s aesthetics getting to my y2k born self. also, the themed hotel rooms fundamentally changed me.
You gotta review the early 2000's Strawberry Shortcake series. My brother and I (both grown adults) recently rewatched an episode and about died from the accidental hilarity.
The lunar eclipse one was my absolute FAVORITE as a kid, I think I probably watched it hundreds of times. As a side note, a few weeks ago I found Polly World at a used video store so I HAD to buy it. The cashier literally stared at it for a good 10 seconds and said "wow, that just took me WAY back" lmaooo🤣🤣
Polly World felt like a fever dream I couldn't remember the name of it for years until this video then all the childhood memories with that movie came flooding back.
One of my hc is that polly was adopted since she was young and that his dad left pia behind and later on finding out that she has a twin sister who was adopted by someone else
New Polly pockets suck. I went to the store looking for something for my niece and found some and got excited. They’re literally even smaller but to the point of being annoying, and you can’t strip them totally naked and nom on their clothes and then spend 10 whole minutes trying to yank it back on because she’s just slightly too curvaceous and it’s just slightly too tight. 3/10 Polly pocket experience
Idk if you have the normal dolls or the micro dolls. I have the microdolls and their hair are very chewy but idk anything about the normal dolls (I buy the micro set to put bees in them).
THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE MOVIE??? Also 4:23 is one of my most hated tropes in media, like I know you want to find love again but this will be your child's PARENT like they need to like them first.
And in the majority of cases men are doing that, like when kings in old tales re-marry women who are clearly evil, fake, hate chidren(and sometimes they try to get rid of them, even if they are their new partner's kids),etc.
Yeah, frankly too many movies go that way. Either the new partner of the single parent is actually evil, or it turns out they're a nice person, and yadda yadda. In both cases, it's a lame and cheap trope.
I remember seeing the trailer for Polly World on the DVD for Curious George I had as a kid and begging my parents to get it for me since I had and loved Polly Pocket, but they never did. Now that I’m in college, I can clearly see why they never let me watch this kind of girly entertainment.
The best explanation I can come up with for why those two cousins look so similar, is that their parents consisted of two sets of identical twins, which would mean that genetically speaking they'd be full siblings (since both their dads would have the same DNA, and both their moms would as well.) Even then you'd expect a bit more of a difference in appearance, but they could wind up eerily similar by some fluke, or more disturbingly, those two sets of twins could also be related (hopefully like, third cousins at most, closer related than that comes with health risks...)
I still have the Polly Pocket Dolls, but I don't know where they are but I know to a 100% that I have Pia! Her doll has 'real' hair instead of plastic hair and I remember that outfit! My sister has the plane with stage, the waterpark and a cruise ship. We both also had the limousine, but she gave hers away to our cousin while I still have mine. Mine is pink and her's purple. They look like a normal car, but they have a button on the side. If you press that button it extends and turns into the limousine and also has the little pool at its back. It also had extra doors for when it extends, but one broke off and one is gone. The cars trunk is at the front, because whoever designed it probably insisted that it needs one. No clue if it came with a Polly Pocket doll, but I know it came with a little drink you could put in the middle seat when it stretches because both rows have either a hole or a cup holder for it. If you press the steering wheel, it plays a song or rings as if someone is calling. Also funfact about the toy limousine! It's physically impossible for someone to sit in the middle seat when it's not extended, because the seat has to partially fold.
I watched Polly World so much as a child, that when the headphone battery died in the car, I was still able to watch it with no problem because I remembered all the dialogue…
This video just reawakened an entire set of memories involving the Polly Pocket movies, the web series, the online games, the incredibly chewable clothing, all of it. I had a Polly Pocket phase and I completely forgot about it! It’s like my brain wanted to forget, but I just can’t figure out why.
I watched Winx as much as I could as a kid but for some reason never rented DVDs of the seasons or movies. I pretty much solely watched random episodes from 4KIDS TV on Comcast On Demand as a kid
I remember having the little Polly pocket houses at my grandma's house. Until my little sisters decided to flush them down the toilet, therefore ruining the toilet and my Polly Pocket houses.
Missed sign #1 that I was an autistic kid: how fucking much I chewed on some of those silicone Polly Pocket pants. Polly Pocket clothes were the original chewy fidgets
I have never watched a single one of the pocket Polly movies but from the descriptions of these reviews it just sounds like animated Clueless and so I will be finding a pirated version online
"If my classmate owned a whole island I'd bully her too" this reminds me of a telenovela I've been watching so I could make a review of it, in which the protagonist is a spoiled bratty girl from a rich family that literally cares more about herself than anyone else, even her own dad. the "antagonists" are these two older girls at school who are always making fun of her for being spoiled and all I've been saying about it is "they're right and everyone else is mad about it."
I have an extremely vivid memory of watching a Polly pocket movie and hearing “here comes Polly flop it” followed by “uh, I think it’s Polly P O C K E T”
i literally never saw a single one of these movies, but i was OBSESSED with the fames on the website. especially this one decorating one, in which for some reason, i always picked the terrace to decorate. i will never understand.
I only watched the movies; pollyworld and cool at the pocket plaza. I watched it when I was a little girl, and I still think about it to this day. The Y2K coded outfits, the scenery and even the music were iconic. The vibes were truly something and it was just a happy world. Edit: I never bought the toys and never knew they existed, but I definitely would’ve chewed on them as a kid, ahaha.
For those curious it is kind of possible to have a twin cousin example, your mother and your uncle, or twins or your mother and your aunt or twins or any of those combinations like your father and your aunt, or your father and your uncle but you get the idea anyways so if your parents and their sibling are twins, then you and your cousin are gonna look more alike
Oooh if you want to do 2003 Strawberry Shortcake reviews! Those were definitely some times! There's a whole ass 2003 movie with really weird CGI where they go to space to defeat an evil chef of some sort
NOO yall made me crave polly pocket clothes 😫! God damn it! I had this purple maxi skirt and it was PRIME chewing material. Although the purple jacket in the picture looks pretty good to tbh.
These are the wildest movie reviews I've ever seen. Why were the dolls' clothes apparently so chewable??? Was Polly Pocket the female version of Richie Rich?? Exactly how gay was the whole thing? I need answers.
Lmao I remember seeing Polly Pocket dolls when I was little I remember being in a shoe store or something and my mum was talking to the employees and there was a bunch of kids’s toys in a corner on shelf (?) and I remember playing with a Polly Pocket doll. I tried to get the dress on (it was a long blue Dress btw, and the few non-broken clothes) and I kept taking it off and on again bc I didn’t like how the rubber stuff kept folding 😂) I also remember having them in Daycare for a while
Wait, why is everyone saying that Polly has a really bad personality? I haven't watched anything from her in years, but she seems so... normal (personality wise); I'd say kind.
The comments about chewing on the clothes unlocked a memory I had totally forgotten.
Same, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who compulsory chew their clothes
I really thought I was the only one.
My mouth started watering
Same. I think it also unlocked the memory what chewing on half of my toys felt like
I wasn’t one to chew on my toys… but somehow the Polly Pocket clothes just unlocked some strange puppy instinct in my brain, and I regret nothing.
Can confirm Polly pocket outfits were really good for chewing
Gosh, same.
Those and the pencil grips
For me it was (glu?) tac and pencils in general
Mmmm, yeah
I still have one dress 👀
Polly’s dad really got a new gf, heard her “suggest” shipping his well-behaved daughter off to boarding school, and then arranged to send Polly the _next week_ 💀
I'm convinced he was either gullible or always wanted to get rid of Polly. 💀
he was down bad
the thing about her dad not introducing his new girlfriend until they were engaged? my mother introduced me to her boyfriend (now husband) when they moved in together (less than half a year after they met (again. it's a long story)) and they got so drunk that day they couldn't even get the apartment door open (my dad had died of alcoholism earlier that year)
very realistic movie, 10/10, need to watch
Yeah, they underestimate how much of a common thing that is. It's a shitty move, but it was realistic.
While my mum and aunt were ready adults, their dad didn’t tell them about his new lady until they were legit like a week off getting married. It’s chill though cus she’s my favourite grandma.
That's rough, and I'm sorry for your loss
I have vivid memories of the Polly World movie also glad to know I was not the only one who chewed on the polly pocket clothes.
I also used to chew on the polly pocket clothes.
im pretty sure everyone chewed on the polly pocket clothes 😞
I still think about the rooms in that movie
In hindsight I think I had a huge crush on Beth 💀 also there was a background track called “rock and roll girl” that _still_ comes into my head every so often.
One of the only channels I’ll ever watch.. I’ll be telling my grandkids about this, and they’ll probably think I’m weird. Worth it.
Listen… the scene in Polly World when they rise onto the stage to a perform after being trapped in the basement is one of the most iconic scenes on god

Of course it was under a pile of clothes
Polly pocket clothing is the true forbidden snack
True and I think at least all of us must of accidentally swallowed a rubber shoe or something. Childhood was weird but we survived
@@kitsuneayano I literally chewed the clothes to pieces lmao
I love this movie so much I wish it was talked more about. Imagine your billionaire dad creating a Disney world clone just for you
I think the most memorable scene is when they are shoving entire slices of pizza into their mouths in the hotel
I love how it’s a universal fact that every kid chewed on the Polly pocket clothes I know I did
I mean. I didn't, but I also already had contamination focused OCD by the time I got any Polly Pockets, so it wouldn't have even occurred to me to do that because of the germs...
Really that says more about my mental health than children's behavior though...
Got to be honest, my first thought seeing this was: there's a Polly Pocket Movie?!
Same! i’ve always known them as toys, not a movie series.
I remember watching Polly World (partly because I have one of the playsets), but I don't think I ever watched the others. I'm surprised to find out my purple car/limo with a jacuzzi was actually featured in one of the movies and wasn't just a unique toy
It's a popular kids franchise, there are probably around 40

I had some of those, but I definitely preferred the rubberized clothing version
I loved those as a kid, especially the rattling sound the dolls made when you shook the clothes
10/10 audio stim
OMG I HAD THEM TOO
I almost completely forgot about these movies, for me they were just some vague memory of some movie I watched when I was 3. I still remember eating the silicone clothes though
I love these movies reviews, it’s like looking at weird old comments from some fan Wiki that went dead years ago and just seeing how strange some these get.
...suddenly I'm feeling like the only person who DIDN'T try chewing on the Polly Pocket clothes as a young'n.
You're not alone!

Polly World felt like a fever dream I couldn't remember the name of it for years until this video then all the childhood memories with that movie came flooding back.
I love how many people refer to her friends as "her little gay friends"
My new headcanon is that Pia and Polly are twin sisters who the father gave away to his brother or something at birth and I will DIE on this hill
Purely for the sake of drama, Pia should be the older twin who was robbed of Mr. Pocket’s inheritance.
One of my hc is that polly was adopted since she was young and that his dad left pia behind and later on finding out that she has a twin sister who was adopted by someone else
Kinda sounds like The Parent Trap
New Polly pockets suck. I went to the store looking for something for my niece and found some and got excited. 3/10 Polly pocket experience
This description is so beautifully chaotic. Shakespeare who?
I guess it’s more accurate to the very original version, but the 2000s versions will always be more nostalgic to me.
Idk if you have the normal dolls or the micro dolls. I have the microdolls and their hair are very chewy but idk anything about the normal dolls (I buy the micro set to put bees in them).
Don’t worry, there are some newer ones with the delicious silicone clothing
There’s always getting them used on EBay. Just make sure to sanitize them before letting loved ones chew on the clothes.
Did anybody else cry when you accidentally ripped your favorite Polly Pocket rubber dress, or are you normal?
literally calmed me down from a panic attack lol
THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE MOVIE???

Yeah, it’s just one of those tropes that’s too real to be interesting or dramatic.
Yeah, frankly too many movies go that way. Either the new partner of the single parent is actually evil, or it turns out they're a nice person, and yadda yadda. In both cases, it's a lame and cheap trope.
I feel like I got punching in the face with nostalgia when they brought up chewing the clothes.
It's strangely comforting to know that I wasn't the only one who wanted to chew on Polly's clothes

They did show it on Nickelodeon before

@nablamakabama488 Precisely!
Fun fact: Beth shares her voice actress with Rarity from My Little Pony - Tabitha St Germain
1:54 OH SHIT that just unlocked a core memory 😂

i've been thinking about this "cousin twin" situation, and i thought, maybe their parents are two sets of identical twins?
I might have watched one of these before but I remember mostly getting ads for it when watching straw berry shortcake dvd's or something
I watched Polly World so much as a child, that when the headphone battery died in the car, I was still able to watch it with no problem because I remembered all the dialogue…

5 year old me was willing to MURDER for that drink Polly got during that Lorelai scene in the restaurant
I didnt even know i watched this movie. This is the first time somebody unlocked SECRET HIDDEN MEMORIES OF MINE

Polly doesn't deserve that though she's so nice 😭
Polly is Taylor Swift-ing it with the multiple properties, generational wealth, and carbon emissions 💅
Polly's dad kinda looks like the blonde version of maskless spy from team fortress 2, he also built like him. XD
When I think of “Polly Pocket” I think of the TV series where Polly has a magic necklace
Didn't even realize there were movies, I just chewed on the clothes
I completely forgot that these movies were a thing. I think I only ever saw the second one.
So if everyone who watched that movie agrees about the dad being hot, does that make him a... _Hot Pocket_?

If any fictional character was gonna have a "twin cousin" it would be Polly Pocket.
She's too rich to not have some inbreeding in her family.
Little gay friends will be a part of my vocabulary from now on
