The old man that was talking the whole time is Joe Kittinger, he made this jump from 19 miles up back in 1960. His story is crazy, his pressurized glove quit working and he was so high up that the blood in his hand started to boil and they asked him if he wanted to come down but he said no and continued with the mission. He was the one who found out that you spin very hard when coming back into the atmosphere to the point that he passed out. Luckily he woke up in time to pull his parachute. He did this back when there was no safety and the odds of surviving were almost 0%. That old man is a complete badass

@@sailorman8668 Hes still in LEO (Low Earth Orbit) (space) The "2nd" lower layer is called a Troposphere and the balloon is tethered to is a capsule.. -_-

The 2nd layer, as I've already stated is the stratosphere - it's a shame you couldn't get this right, as your credibility is now in the toilet.
That's why this skydive venture was officially known as Red Bull Stratos, with 'Stratos' being an obvious reference to the layer of the atmosphere from where he was jumping, the stratosphere.
And considering that he's jumped from an altitude of 39 km (24 miles), he's nowhere near being in 'Low Earth Orbit (space)'.
It's somewhat of a joke if you actually think a helium balloon can leave the earth's atmosphere and enter into orbit around the earth (space).

Trixa Kidd Yes, in these comments Scott was gracious enough to provide a link to the video. He was personally asked to be the one to talk him down since he had once done this himself. And almost all records were beat except that the Colonel still holds the record for longest free fall duration before pulling the parachute open.

He was experienced weightlessness for about 88 seconds until he reached terminal velocity. That is insane. I can barely handle a roller coaster fall for a few seconds.

My anxiety was at 100% when he started spinning even though I knew he landed safely when I started watching this video. Imagine how those watching in real time felt.
I watched it in real time back when it happened with my family. We all thought he was dead when he was spinning so hard at super high speeds. I thought there was no way he wouldn´t pass out and lose control.
