When the car started I knew this was worth having and that it would solve all my problems. You see Jeff I have been battling QVC withdrawals from a lack of seeing personally inspiring products on there. Since my divorce in 2006 nothing has been able to make me smile again. Until now. Happy days are here again! I just ordered one and they let me talk on TV about my purchase! Hahaha. That's funny. I too was impressed that it actually started the car. That was the true test for me. All of the other features were just bonus. I hope this halo will give you something to smile about yet again.
I bought 3 of these a couple years ago, and I just ordered a 4th. These things are so versatile! We've used them to jump cars and our lawn tractor battery. You won't be able to power a laptop over 65W, so it doesn't work with 90W laptop power supplies. I mostly use them to charge my cellphone or power my cellphone during live streams where I don't have a regular power outlet by my phone. I also use them to charge my phone and bluetooth speaker outdoors at my picnic table.
It has a 120v standard wall port, why would this not charge any laptop? I need to know because I have a powerful gaming laptop that I need this to charge while it's not in use and turned off...
@@DrewSkinner the AC outlet and jump start functions are two separate and distinct features. The AC outlet has a max watt limitation. So, yes, it can jump start a lawn tractor, but won't power over a 65 watt laptop due to the AC outlet limits. Honestly, I think it is a design flaw. It might seem funny that it would work for one and not the other, but my experience with these units and seeing it not work firsthand with my laptop is all I can say on it. It attempts to charge the laptop but then kicks itself off after a few seconds.

My old style garage charger wasn't working (ARRGGHHHHH) so I called out local on my facebook for help and the neighbor lady came with one of these in hand. Car started right up almost instantly- now THAT'S what I'm talkin about!! HALLELUJAH. I live in the country...I am half an hour away from most everything and a single mom- I can't be stranded for very long in case of an emergency. I ran my errand then came home and started shopping for one of these right away. I wasn't going to wait another moment. A couple months back I had an unexpected litter of puppies. It was a very high risk birth and I took mom to a friends house 3 hours away who had extensive experience with birthing puppies even in high risk situations. Mom successfully had babies and survived and we stayed there for two weeks to ensure that if the puppies had any problems my friend was there to advise me and help. When it was time for us to go home...puppies needed to be transported in a box without mom in it for safety- 3 hours. That meant that they needed a heat pad to be kept warm. I ended up buying a box that connected to the cigarette outlet with regular plugs for that heat pad to plug into and run...but this would have worked just as well. You just never know when you'd need a regular plug for something in the car. If it works as nifty as here once I get it, I may end up getting another for my son to have for his stuff, and one for my daughter for her car. There is TONS to be said for easy and lack of fussing with stuff, especially when you're stressed.
These things are VERY handy for starting cars. I had to use one a little while ago and it churned over like crazy and car started instantly! FANTASTIC.
Thanks Deems. How long have you had your Halo Bolt? Does it still work ok? I am trying to decide if this is worth buying or not. I love the fact that this is so compact. thanks--
I have had mine for so long that it is one without and outlet! I have jumped my car and 3 other people's in the time I have had it. The hardest part is opening the hood! I can't say enough good things about this product except I have purchased one for my husband and several others for friends. They have all used them to jump other people's cars! When Halo comes out with a new addition to the Bolt (i.e. the outlet, the wireless charging), QVC runs it as the special value of the day. Before that, they sell the "old" one at a lower price. This is worth the $100.
Absolutely, I don't even use the plug...this just stays in the car in case a jump is needed. This is a pretty impressive charger. Thanks for sharing your experience.
THESE THINGS ARE GREAT. ..700 cranking amps @ 12 volts and they hold a charge for almost two years (and still counting) ..it will fit in the pocket of some cargo pants too. I used it to start a pair of diesel engines one right after the other and it was it sitting on a shelf for months..You need one for your boat
I love this thing. It has saved me a number of times since I did the review. The jump start feature is amazing. Let me know what you think when you get it.
That’s a really nice set up it has a lot of extras over the brand I have. You are so right though to carry that with you on trips can be priceless when you need it… And plus I am helped a ton of people out also. Nice review Jeff
I own 3 of these units. Saw a utility truck that needed a boost. Several people tried and could not get it started. I came along with my little unit and everyone laughed. I got it started on the first attempt and the unit only had 2 bars.
Got this for Christmas and used it to charge my phone. It had a 75% charge when I started charging my phone wirelessly and after 8 hours and a fully charged phone, it was down to 25%. So far so good.
I like the Halo Bolt - although some of their claims are over exaggerated. It still has a lot of useful features. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
It used 50% of the charge to charge a phone once and keep it running for 8 hours? (Serious question) Im pretty sure my Aukey 20,000mAh powerbank can do that

You can always check out eBay got mine brand new for 80 bucks and the best part the seller lived not far from my town we just meet up in a public setting so we eliminated the shipping and handling.
You should be able to jump a car more than 3 times on a charge. I think they advertise that a full charge is good for like 50 jumps, but it depends on whether you have a small car, midsize, or truck.
I don't think you'd get 50 jumps on one charge. The one jump I did took 25% of the battery power. The directions state you can take 3 attempts to charge a battery - this could also mean if it didnt work by the third time it won't work. Either way it's a pretty cool device. This last one I bought on eBay for $82.00 brand new. So far no problems and I really like the 110 outlet. I believe the outlet will only put out 60 or 65 watts of power. Who has one of these and is charging a 13-inch MacBook pro? Please let me know how's it going?
I've not used it on a MacBook, primarily because I dont have one - ha, but I have used it on my HP Spectre and it works great. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
has anyone used this on a Windows laptop?
Halo is a bad company to do business with.. I have a big Powr station 1000 and I used it 3 times during storms.. It quit working, The company does not service the power pack, does not offer exchanges, and does not know where to send it for repairs.. I am out $1000 for the 3 brief times we needed it during power outages..
Wow, that's terrible. Thanks for sharing your experience.
