My Halo Bolt was at 50%and would not charge. I tried two other chargers with no luck. I tried one last thing I could think to do. With my Bolt plugged in, I pressed and held the power button for about 5 seconds. My Bolt lit up and started charging. I can only hope it will continue to charge properly and that this might work for other Halo owners. I have had my Bolt for almost 4 years and love the convenience. It is one of the best gifts I have ever received.
Friends got me one as a Christmas gift about 4 years ago. Charged it up and it stayed in the trunk of my car for about a year through 100°F heat and mild Winter. An elderly couple at the grocery store needed a boost. My first opportunity to see what this thing would do. Still had 4 bars of charge from initial charges. Success! The gentleman wanted to know the brand and model as he wanted one. Used it maybe 3 more times since then. A few days ago, my battery on my Mazda was weak. Hooked the Bolt to the battery without the usual signs of connection such as a spark or change in interior lights on car or Halo itself. I thought maybe the clamps were bad but I find out that I have no power on the clamp contacts. Rest of unit seems fine. Then I see here it only has a 90 day warranty and Halo does not seem eager to go the extra mile for you. Will be replacing with something else. Too bad. This "seemed" like a nice little unit. 🙁
I've had mind about a year. It won't charge, which is the reason I sought out this video. I have 1 blinking bar and I tried allowing it to go completely dead, re-upping before it died, and tried charging in an isobar and outlet to no avail. I'm hoping and praying that it's being finicky because I really love the device. So much so that I've been recommending it to everyone. My son says it would not jump his car, but I never really used it for that reason anyway.
Do you still have this unit? If so please try holing the light button on the side and the main power button together with it unplugged for about 10 seconds until you see it blink twice then try charging. I just fixed mine that way. Please let me know if this works I’d be curious.
PEOPLE!!!! I came here hoping for a solution to this problem but didn’t see one in the video or comments. First of all I have several of the HALO AC/DC BOLT 58830. It looks very similar to the one in the video, just not wireless. I had a similar issue, Worked fine and then all of a sudden had just 1 flashing light and wouldn’t charge past that. I tried several things and finally, found something that may help. . . What I did was I held down the on/off, the 3 prong plug , and battery jumper buttons, at the same time. I did not push the flash light button, and I did not push them in any order. Tried to push them at the same time and held down for maybe 10-15 seconds. After a few seconds, the on/off button flickered and the lights came on. I decided to try and charge again. It started with the same 1 light flashing but this time went on to the 2nd then 3rd and finally the 4th and now, all 4 lights are solid and fully charged!!!! Try it and see!! Hope this helps. It has worked for mine.
So my Halo has been dead for 3 years and when i finally plugged it up to charge it only one flashing bar would appear but it would not charge. I left it on for over 12 hours to no avail. I am going to assum once it gets to this point it is irreversible.
People who get good ones swear by these things, but they do seem to have quality control problems for sure. It's a shame they can't offer a better warranty... I feel bad for the people who get a bad unit because this product is incredible *when it works*. Hopefully they get the problems sorted and are able to offer a longer/better warranty as they become more confident in their product. I don't blame you for declining the 50% off option, but did you at least try a different wall adapter?
Mine took a fall from the seat to the carpeted floorboard of my jeep... and won't turn on. Plugged it in when I got to the power station where the chargers are and it does this 4 lights blinking. I use mine daily to push a cpap. 😕😔 and it's been only 4-5 months. I have 2 others and now I'm concerned. They're that fragile? 90 days 🤦🏻♀️
Thanks.. I am having the same problem, glad I came across your video. I also have an older model & tried that charging cord on the newer one, so it's not the charging cord. I have had the older model for years & it's working fine (I have 2 of them). I don't know if it's a specific model issue, but the one not working for me is model #58830.
I’ve used mine lightly over the years since purchase. It’s one of the first I saw on QVC. I have the air compressor/ battery jump version also which I’ve used when my car tires indicate low many times. The issue is the original one now the on/off button and 3 green bars stay lit & wont turn off. The flashlight won’t turn on at all. I’ve been using it daily to power a small handheld nebulizer for my asthmatic cat. Sad to lose this formerly handy tool. Will be seeking a better replacement.
I understand this is a bit old but mine had a broken wire in the PS charger cord. It's pretty stiff wire and appeared to be fine. My voltmeter showed the PS had zero volts at the output. I found the busted wire was close to the "wallwart." Bought a new PS and it started charging like nothing had been wrong. It's a great little pack. I've had mine for about 10 years.
Tk u for heads up yes we have a unit doing the same thing! Have gone through all the steps you were advised and like yours the unit is still blinking. I purchased mine from QVC I will contact the bolt company then contact QVC will update as I get any new info Tk u for this video! XO
Yep, same problem, first day I used it! Tested it by charging my MacBook Pro through the AC outlet. Wasn't impressed. The MacBook Pro showed 48@% charge when I plugged it in to the Bolt power bank (same as the one you have). I used the Mac lightly while it was drawing juice from the Bolt, but it charged it to 99% within about 40 minutes. Cool. But the Bolt was now flashing the red light at the AC outlet. I took this to mean that there was no longer flow from the powerbank to my MacBook, and I disconnected it. I then did two things, I used the AC adaptor to connect the Bolt to the wall AC. All good right? But the Bolt stayed at less than 25% (one green flashing bar) for over an hour and a half. I then unplugged the power adaptor from the wall mains and repluged it in. Had to do that several times before the Bolt seemed to respond and charge. A few minutes later it jumped to one sold green bar and one flashing green bar. Charging! The full charge took about 5 hours. Why does that seem long to me? I think my laptop usually taks that long to fully charge via its 85 watt wall adaptor (the "white brick"). Here is something I am a bit worried about: Though it said nothing about this on Amazon where I punched the Bolt, there were dyer warnings in several places in the docs that came with the unit that cautioned a user to never plug anything into the unit's AC outlet that drew more than 60 watts. My 2010 17 inch MacBook Pro charger says it outputs 85 Watts. So I am a bit worried. Still, it charged the thing. But only halfway. When I plugged my MacBook into the Bolt's AC outlet, the Bolt was fully charged and the Mac was at 48%. charged. So it appears that the Bolt can only supply half the juice needed to charge a 17 inch MacBook Pro. Maybe this is because I was running the MacBook at the time? Next time, I will wait until my MacBook's battery is completely drained, and it is turned off, before I charge it with the Bolt. I will let you know.
hoped to find something good, here, a way to open and fix a loose connection. Have one never used that I have to hit to turn on. Got for my wife, has been sitting in her car for a year. Still at 95% charge, but will not turn on unless I hit. So, if I were to use the compressor it would disconnect whatever was not connected internally. Great product!
I have the same problem. I was wondering, do you know of a better product that I could purchase, because as a single lady, I like the idea of jumping my car battery off, and not relying on a stranger.
I went to use mine and no charge. I plugged it in and nothing lights up. The unit gets hot right by the power button between the 2 usb ports. Wondering if changing out the AC adapter would work. I have tried it on different plugs to no avail.
I just attempted to use my Halo Bolt on a friend's car tires and it wouldn't work although it indicated a 91% charge. These units must be really garbage and I will take it up with QVC since I purchased it due to their hyping the product. Also, my warranty has expired.
I’ve had mine for less than a year, not only is it not charging, the jumpstart doesn’t work and hasn’t worked from day 1. Ive tried to jumpstart 3 different vehicles, and it never worked. The air compressor is what I ended up using regularly, however, that will now be nullified now that it won’t charge. This is garbage, don’t waste your money!
Keeping it topped off can kill the HB. It is meant to be charged, then taken off charge waiting to be used ad in the glove box. Will stay charged for at least 2 yrs. Personal experience .
I have the jump starter/power bank and it has worked like a champ. I liked it so much I bought the power station because the battery has a massive amount of power. I have only used it a few times and out of the blue it won't take a charge. I have contacted Halo and can't get a response. I have tried different outlets, different cables, different charging blocks, etc. and am using the original charging block that came with it. I'm going to discharge it cause at this point I just have a 200 dollar paper weight.
update, I tried a different charging cable and it is not charging! The lights are on and 1 green light is blinking. wow maybe it just needed a new charger?
So, I have a older, believe the original one. So now, my grandma bought me a halo ultimate. Here the last 2 months I’ve actually had to start using it to air up my mower tire (slow leak in small front tire). Giving you that piece of info to let you know this thing has not at really even been used. Anyways we got 18% the other day, plugged in before bed. Next day. Still at 18%. Lol. Call them. They want me to figure where it was bought from. Think I’m just going to say fk that. Take this thing apart carefully and see if I can personally find and fix the problem.
I have more than one. I had a different model (Jump start, air compressor, USB with separate AC converter and digital display) I plugged it into the charger and it would flash all the the error icons at once then it would switch to the charging display, then back to the error icons and back to the charging display on and on, and it wasn't charging. I went and got a different charging adapter from one of my other models and it started charging properly.
I seem to get Halo Brand products of various chargers, battery chargers jumpstarters over the course of the last 5 to 10 years from my in-laws as Christmas gifts. I imagine they shop on QVC but I have found none of HALO products to have any sort of longevity. In fact, I even mentioned it to my brother-in-law, he says the exact same thing.. They seem to work perfectly for a year and then they all stop working And I did try using their customer service which, even though they were friendly, there was nothing they could do. Thankfully I haven't paid a dollar for halo products because I get them as Christmas gifts but I would never buy or recommend halo brand as nice as the packaging is as nice as the products look if they do not have longevity.
Thank you for your video. What I did to get mine to start charging just now was to plug it in like normal but slowly and carefully pull out the cable just barely. I got it to show 2 bars instead of the 1 flashing. So just plug it in fully then slowly and carefully unplug it but not fully. Hope this helps
Mine just won’t charge at all after a couple months, was kept inside its whole life. Wanted a receipt for a Christmas gift I got so it wouldn’t be covered under warranty.
You want a little trick that might work You're trying to charge as a DC port You know the jumper pack starter pins they go directly to the battery The charger you plug into the wall I wonder how many volts it is I bet it's 12 volts if you get the jumper that that comes with it You charge through the ports on the bet you it'll charge up through the ports
I have one as well the Bolt not good item to me my old school one still works like a charm the about stop charging i’ve had it for two years had no reason to use it but if you could charge finally use it on the road trip to air tire one time brought it back home to charge it back up to put it in his box and it just started believing like the man on his video has not worked since I paid $200 for😊
my family purchased 2 off of QVC. both were junk. output ports & light only work when it is plugged into the wall charger. unit has 4 solid green lights after charging, but as soon as you unplug the AC charger nothing. no light, no usb, no jump start. unfortunately we did not try them until after the 90 day warranty was gone. both units are trash. would not recommend them.
I have the same issue never used it and needed it to jump start my car yesterday & no charge & I keep getting blinking lights.....this product is a waste of money (mine is 3 years old)
Mine would not recharge after it was discharged. It does not flash all 4 lights it only flashes 1 green light. UGHHH what a rip. TY for your video. Thought I would look up to see if the issue could be resolved before throwing it out. Thank you again for your posting.
I have a Halo Bolt it worked good for over a year. I didn't use it for a year and now it won't charge...flashing one green light like yours. So it worked for one year then kaput!
I've had mine for years and jumped my car at least 50 times with this, I love this thing its awesome! Heads up though if you're jumping your car, there's a light that blinks and goes solid when its ready to jump (not the 4 blinking lights in this video, the light in the button on the left when you're jumping a car). If that light will not go solid and just stays blinking, I've discovered that's because the car battery has no charge at all. So it won't jump start if the car battery is extremely dead dead. I think this is because Halo wants to detect a tiny amount of residual current in the car battery, just enough to make sure you haven't hooked up positive to negative and vice versa, as a safety feature. I've always wanted to try hooking up 9 volt battery to see if I can fool it, but never tried it...
I have an older Halo and use it as needed. However, after using it I do not 'top it off when finished. I find that I can use it later for my cell phone. After I have done that a few times. I will then. charge it up. @Howlando so you are saying that @GoodGrief is possibly causing his battery to die because of topping it off? Does the battery on the Halo need to run down?
@@johnlindquist9873 Actually I was legit literal, I drove around with a nearly dead battery for a year or two, just kept jumping it with this thing. Are you the John Lindquist from Intergraph?
Ive never done 50 jumps in my life! What are you doing? Maybe get a new battery?! Or are you just happening upon all these weary travelers with dead batteries? Haha either way good on you and good to know it works. But dang...50 jumps.
I’m using this device to charge my phone while watching this video about the device lol I’m here Bc mine just keeps blinking when I use it to jump a vehicle , it’s supposed to blink 3 times and be ready. Any idea ?
I have 2 halo bolts and mine kept blinking. I used my other cable and it started right up. I think it was a cable problem. You can buy new cables for $20.
@@davidjohnson6747 Quick tip..I know it’s convenient to have these (in the car)..but that’ll be the death of it. Always room temperature, not blazing heat in the trunk or glove box in summer..not in the really cold weeks of winter either. Keep it inside.
I bought one for me and my daughter and mines doesn’t wanna charge anymore not worth it. If it can’t hold a charge work maybe three times for me and that was it.
Garbage. I did get one successful jump out of it. First issue was jumper cables are cheap and broke internally and had to order replacement. 2nd issue, and nail in the coffin, was unit stopped accepting charge. Less reliable than whatever it is supposed to be supporting totally defeats the purpose of a backup or emergency contingency item.
Thank you. I’ve had mine for 8 days and it isn’t fully charging. It was supposedly a new product but the box looked a little scuffed which made me think it may have been used. I’m returning it. This was helpful
I have one myself. The only reason I still have it as a fixture on my table, is bcs it is a really beautiful rose gold color. I was hoping if I kept it, I would come across a video one day that shows how or where it can be fixed. After watching this video, I guess it's time to thrash it. What a waste of money
Anybody else have an issue where the first light will blink when plugged in but the charge never goes up? It appears like it's going to charge but never does. I have two bolts, and the other charges fine with same adapter.
i’m having the same issue. mine has been dead for 3 years and when i plugged it in to charge it this is what it does. i had it plugged in for 12 hours and NOTHING. someone else on here said they had this issue and just kept unplugging and plugging it back in and it eventually worked
I get one blinking light . Just blinks and blinks the first light and never charges any further ……… then by the grace of god I figured out that if you plug it into the wall second . Meaning plug it into the halo first then plug it into the wall it will do absolutely nothing . So what i ended up doing was what many other with the same issues have done . Stored it in the closet forever then one day I randomly looked at it and said let me try it again . For reasons I can not explain it turned on and did the same exact thing only this time I figured out the solution ……. Throw it in the trash and never tell anyone to purchase one .
Open it up disconnect the battery cut the charger cord and wire it straight into the battery 😂😊😢 be careful not to overwhelm the battery magnetized it if you don't want to worry about over charging it
We bought one about 2 years ago. Used it less than 10 times. Loaned it to someone and it came home dead. It won't charge at all. $200 for what seemed to be an awesome product. Apparently NOT. I am really disappointed.
Man this is discouraging, ours has been fantastic for like a year, got us through power outages etc Now all of a sudden 😢 It’s shows 2 bars but will not except a charge boo Better off buying the real ones they sell
Mine worked great for a few times, I bought one for my husband...then it died after 8-12 times. Exactly as the video guy said. Terrible product. Very disappointing and took care of it very carefully. Don't buy.
Bad business on Halo's behalf. Product is very nice. You could've had lifetime customers with better Customer service. And standing up on your device. Or lower the price to mach
It is the little round button in between the 2 USB oulets. That blue button that is lit in the video. I duplicated the problem by leaving the outlets on and it will flash like in your video. Unplug the charger the press the center round button, the plug the unit back up and it will charge..
These things are absolute garbage. Those that work longer than 6 months are the exception NOT the rule. Customer service is useless because after 3 months what can they do? They can't be repaired and they WON'T replace it. There is a reason that it's only warranted for 3 months. I Looked up several competitors on Amazon at the same and lower price and they all had between 1 and 3 year warranty. I'll be honest, when I bought mine I didn't think about looking at the warranty and that was my bad( fool me once), If I had seen that I would have passed it up. Now it's just a paperweight.
5.18 of what? sorry this is a complete waste of time, unbelievable people turn out stuff like this, you're probably a very nice person but this is a absolute waste of Bytes.

Mine won't even charge or blink at all now. Have you tra car charger? I feel like that may work, but I can't find mine.

The power button next to the wall socket blinks red on mine.
Did you try turning off the wireless charging before you tried charging the unit again
change the adapter, looks like someone else had similar problem
My halo is fully charged but won't charge car battery.
I've had mine for about 4 years now!!! The only problem I'm is the 3 prong outlet stopped working!!!
“Acrossed” is not a word.
Mine doesn't charge but works. I bought a new ac charger and it's fine
Can you explain it a little different . I know a little about alectricity and ac/dc but couldn’t understand what your wrote .
I have one as well the Bolt not good item to me my old school one still works like a charm the about stop charging i’ve had it for two years had no reason to use it but if you could charge finally use it on the road trip to air tire one time brought it back home to charge it back up to put it in his box and it just started believing like the man on his video has not worked since I paid $200 for😊
My problem with this is that the AC does not work anymore , but all works fine..
Brand new out of the box, fully charged and would not start My lawn tractor that did have some reserve.Anyone have this issue?
my family purchased 2 off of QVC. both were junk. output ports & light only work when it is plugged into the wall charger. unit has 4 solid green lights after charging, but as soon as you unplug the AC charger nothing. no light, no usb, no jump start. unfortunately we did not try them until after the 90 day warranty was gone. both units are trash. would not recommend them.
I have the same issue never used it and needed it to jump start my car yesterday & no charge & I keep getting blinking lights.....this product is a waste of money (mine is 3 years old)
I've had.
Mines since 2015 never had a problem
Mine would not recharge after it was discharged. It does not flash all 4 lights it only flashes 1 green light. UGHHH what a rip. TY for your video. Thought I would look up to see if the issue could be resolved before throwing it out. Thank you again for your posting.
How long did you wait? One blinking light is supposed to indicate that it IS charging and is between 0 - 25%.
Mine too! I have already sent one back to have fixed. Now I guess I need to send this one back too.
I have a Halo Bolt it worked good for over a year. I didn't use it for a year and now it won't charge...flashing one green light like yours. So it worked for one year then kaput!
Same issue
Mine to, 1 year old, very disappointing
I have 2 halos. 1 has a charging port on the back. One has NO charging port anywhere. Anyone else?
Nobody needs jump starts 50 times.
@@johnlindquist9873 Actually I was legit literal, I drove around with a nearly dead battery for a year or two, just kept jumping it with this thing. Are you the John Lindquist from Intergraph?
The 9 volt battery trick works. If your battery is dead dead, with some jumpers and 9 volt battery, you can fool Halo and get it to work
Ive never done 50 jumps in my life! What are you doing? Maybe get a new battery?! Or are you just happening upon all these weary travelers with dead batteries? Haha either way good on you and good to know it works. But dang...50 jumps.
I had mine for a year used it about 6 times but it won’t charge or go on can anyone’s help me
I’m using this device to charge my phone while watching this video about the device lol I’m here Bc mine just keeps blinking when I use it to jump a vehicle , it’s supposed to blink 3 times and be ready. Any idea ?
I had jumped about 15 cars and now it blinks and won’t stop when I try. I’m about to call customer service.
I have 2 halo bolts and mine kept blinking. I used my other cable and it started right up. I think it was a cable problem. You can buy new cables for $20.
@@davidjohnson6747 Good to know !
@@davidjohnson6747 Quick tip..I know it’s convenient to have these (in the car)..but that’ll be the death of it. Always room temperature, not blazing heat in the trunk or glove box in summer..not in the really cold weeks of winter either. Keep it inside.
We had two, the first lasted 3 years the 2nd one only a year and it wont take a charge
I got a bad unit they sent me a new one
charge
"There are 5 lights"....."THERE ARE 4 LIGHTS!!!!!" 😁
Sorry it's a star trek thing😂
🖖🏾
I have one myself. The only reason I still have it as a fixture on my table, is bcs it is a really beautiful rose gold color. I was hoping if I kept it, I would come across a video one day that shows how or where it can be fixed. After watching this video, I guess it's time to thrash it. What a waste of money
Anybody else have an issue where the first light will blink when plugged in but the charge never goes up? It appears like it's going to charge but never does.
I have two bolts, and the other charges fine with same adapter.
I just got mine today. I am having those exact issues you are having. I don’t think it will actually charge. I will be requesting a replacement.
i’m having the same issue. mine has been dead for 3 years and when i plugged it in to charge it this is what it does. i had it plugged in for 12 hours and NOTHING. someone else on here said they had this issue and just kept unplugging and plugging it back in and it eventually worked
Exactly what I’m experiencing right now. First light is blinking and go back to check charge -nothing is happening.
Lol I like that one.... But I want my money back.... Lol
Got the same issue
Try turning off the USB outputs before trying to charge the unit
How do you turn off the usb outputs
Mine is doing that too just one light blink smh
This is not work for me
Open it up disconnect the battery cut the charger cord and wire it straight into the battery 😂😊😢 be careful not to overwhelm the battery magnetized it if you don't want to worry about over charging it
“This thing is acting up” ... “I keep the battery topped off” 😐
You’re not supposed to keep it topped off wish I’d have known that too . Seems a little weird to me as most product say do not let battery fully die .
Mine wont take a charge right out of the box. POS.
We bought one about 2 years ago. Used it less than 10 times. Loaned it to someone and it came home dead. It won't charge at all. $200 for what seemed to be an awesome product. Apparently NOT. I am really disappointed.
You like
LMFAO : for everyone who is complaining this video is pointless and he didn’t have a solution . I’d say “ pssst hey dummy, read the tittle “.
Man this is discouraging, ours has been fantastic for like a year, got us through power outages etc
Now all of a sudden 😢
It’s shows 2 bars but will not except a charge boo
Better off buying the real ones they sell
everything on mine works except the car starter.... LOL
Mine worked great for a few times, I bought one for my husband...then it died after 8-12 times. Exactly as the video guy said. Terrible product. Very disappointing and took care of it very carefully. Don't buy.
I’ve had two new units, one worked one time and the other never worked. Garbage!
Bad business on Halo's behalf. Product is very nice. You could've had lifetime customers with better Customer service. And standing up on your device. Or lower the price to mach
Thanks for the info…I’m having the same problem…I only 😊have 2 bars …I’ve had this for a long time and it was always functional
😮
It is the little round button in between the 2 USB oulets. That blue button that is lit in the video. I duplicated the problem by leaving the outlets on and it will flash like in your video. Unplug the charger the press the center round button, the plug the unit back up and it will charge..
That explanation took forever.
I thought it was just me, and that was the abbreviated version.
So what was point of the video
Seriously??? All that to say you no nothing??
Same so stupid
Too much talking. What was the problem?
This was not helpful at all. No trouble shooting or resolving any issue. Blah Blah Blah
I’ve had mine x4 over five years and haven’t had any issues. I have one for each car and mine gets used more than the rest!
Too much talk about other people reviews.
Don’t watch this.
You talk talk talk to much
5.18 of what? sorry this is a complete waste of time, unbelievable people turn out stuff like this, you're probably a very nice person but this is a absolute waste of Bytes.
Open it up disconnect the battery cut the charger cord and wire it straight into the battery 😂😊😢 be careful not to overwhelm the battery magnetized it if you don't want to worry about over charging it
