Simply disconnect it. No need to worry about order while putting it on or taking it off. For example, after attaching the unit, there’s a button you’d push before attempting to start the car. After the car starts, that button is no longer lit up thus no need on having to worry about order removal.
After having the Halo Bolt in my glovebox for 2 years (checking/topping off the charge periodically) I was stuck at the grocery store with a dead battery last week. The Halo Bolt started my car!
You just saved me! I was going it wrong and called my emergency road side assistance than I said let me see if someone did a video on this. Sure enough, this one popped up. Guess I'm more a visual person! Thanks a lot!
Thank you! Just got one. As a female, I feel it is a MUST Have! And, can keep in car up to -5 degrees with minimal recharging. Which was my problem with other jump starters, I’m thankful for this little unit and brought it right away off of Qvc.
@@andriab8517 oh sorry - I meant what did you mean “as my halo charges my battery.” Do you let it sit on the battery for awhile before trying to start your car?
Dude, how ironic... I replaced two batteries last week. One in my sister’s car and one in my father’s car. The low temps can really drain them especially if they have some years on them. And I agree, everyone should have something like this with them especially in weather like we’re having. Good video!
Just got mine for father's day, I tried to charge my cell and after ten minutes this thing shuts off. W t f dude I charged it last night. Woa sending it back.

I used it, didn't work on the terminals, but it did work by placing the clamps just BEHIND the terminals on the wires or metal pieces attached to the wires.
I pray to god this is my problem (a dead battery). My vehicle is fully unresponsive at his 3-4 week engine run check. The alternator may be to blame. 😭 I just got my Halo Bolt, this exact one, and in the morning me & my neighbor are going to try to limp it into the garage a couple blocks away. I’m praying so hard 🥹. I seriously appreciate you sharing this full tutorial. I’m nervous to do it when normally I’m not when I deal w/ my Nitro. It’s a 2008 SXT V6 3.0L Dodge Nitro. Electric Pearlized Blue auto body w/ black trim. 🚙 I even have my own emoji for it 😹
@@theXchange Bruhhh! I lucked out! They told me months ago that it sounded like a dead alternator. Turns out the alternator works great. After owning my battery for 3 months it FRIED. It took 2 attempts with the Halo Bolt and it started all sluggish and then ran fine. Got it to the garage and this dude calls me all, “Your battery inside is FRIED! It smells horrible. The internal tilted and broke. I have no clue how you didn’t have a fire start!” The AC not working was at the exact same time the battery fried, it ran out of freon. I lucked out so hard. I had a bunch of other things done to get it ready for a trip. They’re not done though. They did the oil and the tires incorrectly 🤦🏻♂️😹
I used mine yesterday, and it definitely works, but after driving for 25 minutes to charge up the battery, then leaving it overnight, the car won't start again today. Time for a new battery?
Maybe. You can take it to a local Auto Parts store and they will test your battery for free. If you have a Costco in your area, I would buy your battery from there. You'll save a lot of money, and last I checked, made by Interstate, one of the best batteries out there.
I just bought this as I hate having to rely on someone to help me when my car battery dies... do u still recommend the product? Does the product hold its charge
Ours are still going strong since the posting of this video. It holds a charge for MONTHS although it’s always good to check it every couple of months.
I've had mine for 2 years, and it works great still. It holds a charge for months. I'm about to use it today for the 4th time, but watching this 1st because I forget the proper order for attaching and unattaching the jumper cables. It does make a difference, as I unfortunately found out! Last week, my new neighbor needed a jump on his big Ford F-250, and I think he was shocked when I brought this tiny thing over, but it started his truck right away! My Halo Bolt is purple and paisley (hey, I love Prince, so why not?) and that alone got some raised eyebrows. I love this thing, best $60 I've ever spent!
If i remember right it can throw out 500 amps so it should be able to jump most normal vehicles even with a completely dead battery. Would probably also jump some higher cranking amp vehicles if they still have a bit of a charge left.
Thanks for this I am terrified to use this but your video is helpful. My mom bought this for me and never used is and I hope this works. I have the same model Halo so I keep you posted if this works hopefully I dont explode 😳
Eventually, we ended up getting a new one. Problem was that the battery tested good until finally, it didn’t. Plus, with young kids, we often found doors ajar and lights on in the van so at first, causation was hard to determine.
For me, I still had four bars. It’s not an immediate drain which is great because you may be able to get a few more jumps out of it should you need to turn off the cat for one reason or another before getting it to a place to have it checked or home safely. The battery indicator will also always show how much juice is left. They hold a charge for long periods of time throughout varying temperatures throughout the seasons.
Thank you! I’m a believer of this product. My battery died recently while camping and luckily someone had this device (which he kept stored for almost 8 months) and charged my car on the first crank. 👍
The troubleshooting docs states: The HALO BOLT is not sufficiently charged to jumpstart the vehicle. -or- The HALO BOLT detects that it is connected to a vehicle battery that does not require a jump start. This could indicate that the vehicle battery or othercomponent is faulty. I haven’t personally experienced the described behavior to otherwise give a better idea.
What if the flashing green lights flash then it disappears even though everything is connected correctly? Mind you ive started it before with 2 green bara but today the bars just blink then shut off any advice?
It could mean the jumper cables are on backwards. It could also mean it’s not passing the safety checks it performs during the flashing phase. It could also mean the halo bolt isn’t charged enough to jump the battery. Lastly, and probably unlikely is the temperature is too hot or cold.
I tried using mine today and the light won't stay stolid green I tried it on the vehicle that did not want to start want to start so I put it on my own vehicle and it stayed solid green but when I put it on the other vehicle it won't stay solid green why
So there are a couple of things: A pulsing green light indicates safety checks are in progress. The HALO BOLT will allow 3 consecutive jump start attempts after each time you press the jump start button. You must allow up to 15 seconds between each jump start attempt. During the 15 seconds, the jump start button will flash green while the HALO BOLT performs its safety checks. Once the jump start button illuminates solid green, the HALO BOLT is ready for the next jump start attempt. If the vehicle has not successfully started after turning the key (or pressing the engine start push button) 3 times, disconnect the jumper cables from the HALO BOLT and the vehicle battery and restart the process. If the battery indicators are flashing green, that means the HALO BOLT has detected a high temperature condition. At that point, disconnect the HALO BOLT and allow it to cool for several minutes. Then try the jumpstart process again. If, on the other hand, the HALO BOLT Jump Start button flashes green continuously, that means ehe HALO Bolt is waiting to be connected to a battery. Check the jumper cables and ensure they are properly connected to the battery.
Absolutely. Now that I’ve owned one for a couple of years now, it easily withstands the temperature swings of summer, winter, spring, and fall; all the while maintaining its charge. Also, not only have my wife and I used ours for jumpstarting the car, we’ve had to use it to charge our cell phones, or the kids tablets on long toad trips. It’s worth owning one of these.
I found a user review that said it jumped their 2006 Ram 1500 - www.qvc.com/Halo-Bolt-Air-Car-Jump-Starter-%26-Air-Compressor-with-Accessories.product.E233749.html With that said, the Halo likely would need to be FULLY charged. If you’re on 3 bars worth of battery due to using it to charge your cell phone or the like, it may not have enough to kick the Ram I suspect that would be the situation for any jump start pack, however.
disconnecting the cables would not have caused the motor to stop running. Once the motor starts, the Halo turns off as it has done its job in jumping the battery. Try again as the battery may need more charging, or replacement depending on age of the battery.
I tried to use mine tonight but the green light was only solid for a few seconds before shutting off on its own. I had three bars. It did do the flashing check before the solid green. Does anyone else have this problem or that can help with this issue? Was it because I had three bars and not four?
I had a user once tell me their battery pack was at 3 bars and it would not start a car. It may depend…. I jumped my minivan multiple times without charging, so 🤷♂️
It likely depends. If you hear the car attempt to turn over and (attempt to) start, then possibly it’ll work. I wouldn’t buy one of these to try and breathe life into a car that’s been sitting for a long time. Instead, I’d first attempt a more traditional jump. If it jumps, then great. Then spend the money to get one of these to jump yourself in a pinch. You’ll have peace of mind and can even use it inside the house in the event of a power outage.
Kris Reese okay thank you. i do have one. i’m away from home college and my car won’t start. (doesn’t even attempt to) and i was just wondering if it’s even worth trying to use this or not
Kris Reese soooo it starts my car but alarm goes off and won’t turn off unless i turn off the car but then it won’t restart. lol sorry. i’m out of town and have no one to really help me
huh - odd that the alarm is sounding off. I assume you mean the car horn is what’s going off? Maybe try turning it off with the key fob? Depending on the issue, you’re going to have to drive the car around in order to charge up the battery. It won’t charge much sitting idle for short period of time. At the very least, if the problem persists, you can drive it to the repair shop and avoid a tow charge if you don’t have a road side assistance like AAA.
