  • Hey team, I just had a fascinating insight looking at Giulia’s health data, and I want to share this with you because it beautifully illustrates what we’re all working towards. In October, Julia’s Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) was at 1,317 calories, but it has since increased to 1,340 calories. This boost is due to an increase in muscle mass, which not only elevates our BMR but also makes our bodies more efficient at burning calories, even when we’re not actively doing anything. This is a clear testament to how building muscle mass positively impacts our metabolism.
Moreover, Giulia’s metabolic age, which is influenced by her VO2max (the measure of the body’s ability to use oxygen during intense exercise), showed a younger age than her actual years. This is significant because VO2max, along with grip strength, leg strength, and heart rate variability, are crucial markers of health and longevity. For instance, despite being 39, my VO2max is on par with that of a 20-year-old, thanks to consistent training.
This data isn’t just numbers; it’s a reflection of getting fitter, more robust, and essentially ‘younger’ from a metabolic standpoint. We can use these insights to monitor progress, especially at the start and end of our 4-month training blocks, to gauge improvements.
I’ll be sharing this data with all of you because it’s incredibly motivational and educational. I’ll also start including body fat percentage and BMR updates in our monthly checks for those interested. This way, you can see firsthand how your dedication to training and nutrition is sculpting not just your physique but improving your metabolic health profoundly. Remember, I encourage you to update these metrics yourselves, as it’s a valuable practice in taking charge of your health journey.
