    Got this lens about the same time I got the Sony a6700. I used it on my a6600 and the a6700. What is shocking, considering the price, is just how sharp this lens is. I can't fault any pictures I took; they all were indistinguishable from pictures I took with my Sony G and GM lenses. This is a remarkable feat for a lens that ranges from 18-300mm. At first the zooming was stiff but has smoothed out somewhat in use, I figure it will be smoother as time goes on.
    I love to do macro work and was astonished at how good this lens worked as a macro lens. It's just sharp like a high-quality Japanese knife. It's staying on my a6700 for now.

    great review. one of the best lens for travelling. i was in a dilemma between sigma 100-400 and tamron 18-300. I think I will give the tamron the edge mostly because of the versatility and light weight.

    I have this lens paired with my A6700. Absolutely great lens. Sharpness and IQ is awesome, and the VR is super useful. bought it mostly for its extended range for animal/bird photography. At some point I started to even consider it as an everyday walkabout lens when size/weight would not be a concern. It works great, but I do have to say it pushes a lot of dust into the sensor. One day shooting with it in nature and my sensor had a good half dozen dust spots. So I think as a walkabout lens I'll stick to my Sony 18-135, and keep this one for when I truly anticipate needing the reach.

      I just bought the a6700. And bought this lens to go with my sigma 18-50. I’m a beginner and wanted something to cover multiple ranges.

    Hello! What is the best or not expensive Vnd filter for tamron 18-300mm sony for video. I bought a k&f concept nano-d but when I zoom out to 200-300 mm the video is very noisy. Thank you for your response.

    As a matter of note, this lens is available for Fujifilm X-mount - which is quite rare. I shoot predominantly Canon, but also Nikon, Olympus and Sony, but I ordered the Fuji X-T4 for its dial controls and the IBIS, which is, at the time I write this, the only APS-C MILC camera so equipped. Your review chimes with others I have checked and on the basis of that research I have purchase a unit, and look forward to trying the two out, when the Fuji camera make it to NZ - due to logistics backlogs it's stuck in Aussie and I'm in NZ!

      Can you get crisp shots of birds' feathers and sharp portrait shots of at least the eyes?

    • @trevor9934
      @trevor9934 2 года назад +1

      @@argentum3919 Hi. I have used the lens with the X-T4 for a wee while now and depending on the distance (of course) you can get crisp shot of both feathers and eyes - within the limitations of a crop sensor. The X-T4 still does not rival the Sony, Nikon or Canon for eye detect though, IMHO.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this review. I've watched over 10 different reviews of this lens but found this review to be the most user and real world focused with the different photos and compositions taken at the different focal lengths. So, I just bought the lens for my Sony. We are going on a cruise in March and will be relying on this lens for on board family portrait and action shots along with Caribbean Island and beach - ocean touristy type scenes.
    Anybody have any experience in lower light conditions with this lens yet? Thinking about evening shows that are well lit but with stage lighting in night time scenes. Also, has anybody taken any fast action shots like kids running or swimming?

    Tamron is always good with their recent lens for sony. This 18-300 looks incredible for the range. I have two lenses 17-28 and 70-300 fullframe. Both are really very good. Is it possible to get that with fullframe 18-300 in the futur? Doubtful but we never know.

    Hi there, and thanx for the review. Amateur from Greece, shooting stills while travelling. I own a sony a6400 combo with Tamron 17-70 but there are moments when I need more reach. Is this lens a good option for daylight during winter, cloudy weather or indoors during the day on my a6400?

    Too good to be true, zoom lens with so huge range and no chromatic aberration? Had tamron with much less range 17-70mm for aps-c and it had huge CA and also bokeh was too busy to watch.

    • @argentum3919
      @argentum3919 2 года назад

      Interesting. Everyone has been singing the praises of 17-70mm lens. Now I'm in a dilemma between the constant f/2.8 on the 17-70mm and the massive range on this one.
      In this video I don't see that the 18-300mm is that sharp. If you want crisp shots of birds I think this lens doesn't won't hack it.

    • @PatrickWithCamera
      @PatrickWithCamera 2 года назад

      @@argentum3919 Maybe I just expecting too much, using mostly primes and when I try zoom I am getting hit with much worse quality, post processing images from zooms take few times longer to get satisfying result than on primes. For birds I would pick sony 70-350(ff eq 105-525) because range and AF accuracy is most important.
