I drove a Lincoln Town car as a Taxi and before every shift I wiped down all the surfaces in the car with non-alcohol baby wipes. Had many people tell me it damages the Leather. That car had nearly 2 million kilometres on it, probably half a million by me, and it had the nicest leather in the fleet. Always used a different wipe for the back of the seat than the bottom, changed the wipes often and never used the same wipe on different surfaces. My car was always spotless and fresh smelling. I kept such good care of it the owner of the company would always (frustratingly) take my car when he needed to borrow one of the cars. 1. Take the car to the car wash 2. Wash the entire exterior. 3. Dry the whole car 4. clean each door jamb and door completely including meeting surfaces, handles, door cards etc. 5. clean all seats and seat backs 6. Clean divider and cup holders 7. Vacuum and freshen the carpet 8. Wipe and clean all the pillars and any surface the customer may come in contact with. 9. Clean the wheel and door handle and contact surfaces. 10. Do the rest of the front at slow times when customer isn't in the car. The dispatchers said they got so many requests for me that they had to refuse requests because it would cause conflicts with the other drivers.

Behind all this narrative is a genuine intent of helping others... I admire that in you. However, please tell us what steps we take to care for our leather seats. thanks with Sincerity
1 thing he didn't explain is leather drys out with time making it brittle. Conditioner softens it again by hydrating it so the more often you breakout the cleaner and then condition it the longer your leather will last enjoy 🤓
So in reality your not cleaning or conditioning the actual leather. Your cleaning the sealed coating on it and I guess conditioning it as well. If you can’t condition the actual leather then it’s best to keep it out the heat and sunlight or it will break down quicker with age. I’m wondering if car seat covers are a good idea since there could be abrasion issues and compatibility issues between the two materials.

Dude is dropping some real knowledge on us. The first to point out that it's actually your big ass causing all that damage. Listen and obey, your car seats will thank you, plus you'll be getting in some calisthenics while you get into and out of your leather seats!
That's why I chose with cloth seats. I kept my Civic for sixteen years grey suede seats, they were easy to clean and looked pretty decent to date. I do not want the hassle of maintaining leather.
good tip on getting out of trucks though, every time I get out of mine I cringe as I slide and smash the hell out of the side of the seat lol it is my own fault because I refuse to have a step rail...that would solve the problem but dont like the look. I will attempt your method!

What's a good non scented leather cleaner and conditioner? Seems like a lot of them smell with this leather scent I don't want to disrupt the new/original car smell. Chemical Guys SPI_208_16 Colorless and Odorless vs honey leather *if they make and odorless version.
Nobody has ever said anything about getting in and out of the car. I thought it was such a inconsequential thing. Thanks a million for the video!!
How about cleaning your leather seats with Maguire’s all purpose cleaner at 10 - 1 dilution. Use microfiber cloth . I then put light coat of 303 space age protectant for protection. Wander where I got that idea. Thanks Darren !
I just use aloe vera gel and mix it with organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil for to clean and condition my leather. You can also use this on your face, body and hair. =)
@@EliteOnTheBeat where did you learn this? What if it ruins the seats?
Anybody knows if i can clean my leather seats with jojoba oil ? I have this bottle of Dr. Bronners all solution cleaner.
@@Thomas-qo2vp Luxe Leather from TurtleWax advertises their product with these exact ingredients: cocoa butter and aloe vera. I wouldn't mix them myself though, as who knows what the result might be.
You just now no one ever told me that’s much needed information Thank you very much and again and again Thank you
If I have a leather motorcycle seat, how do I deal with it when it becomes wet?
I've been closing my door the proper way ever since watching your video. Thanks for the great tips
To your question: No, nobody has ever had to teach me how to get in/out of my vehicle because I guess I just have the natural sense to know this...I've always tried to avoid dragging my ass against the seats. BUT, like you said, apparently this is a secret that many folks either don't know OR frankly don't care. Good tips.
Thank you !! We’ve seen so many issues with the driver seats and door looking as if a shark went crazy in the vehicle.
Very good video!
No bs (like always) and straight to the pionts and onformation people need/want to know.
Thanks again!
Maybe not straight to the pionts but he is correct yes... His onformation is good isn't it !!
I wonder if king ranch trucks have leather clear coat? 🤔
Hey I just picked up a used BMW with black leather. A spot on the door is "milky", how would I fix that?
No one taught me this. Buying a new car and look forward to doing it right from now on. Thank you.
So how should I clean my car leather rust has sun block on it? 2ndly how do I clean sand and milk stains of?
I solved this problem 100% I put Amazon sear covers on , leather still like new 3 years later
I’m in a conundrum where I want to protect my leather but I also don’t want to put seat covers on…currently I’m doing a routine cleaning/conditioning maintenance
Someone did in fact teach me how to get in and out of my car to best take care of the leather.
Someone is you, you are that someone.
What do you think about putting a towel on your seat to avoid wear to the leather.
Horrible idea your sitting in a towel, might aswell of spec'd cloth seats.
What's your opinion on leather honey conditioner? My car is brand new Subaru Crosstrek leather. Black leather.
Yes there is. I restore leather. It's called leather repair putty or filler - yes 'filler'. You have to use it to believe it. An 8 inch hole to perfect with substrate backing OR rub it in or use a spreading tool (old banking card) to strengthen and irradicate scratches small holes too on UTTERLY THIN HOLEY FRAYED leather. Try it on a £3000 sofa. It's amazing!!!!! No brands advertised by me as it's made by many many makers.
I bought an infinity q60 brand new and the leather on the bolster It had creases on The leather the car had 18 miles on it and I told the dealer about it and they said it was natural where what exactly caused this and how can I get rid of it because they said they will not replace Them thank you for your time great video
The Q60s are nice. I was looking at them and a Q50. I ended up with a G sedan.
If you made the mistake of putting silicone on the surface, and it is now slippery, how do you remove that stuff?
@@Bulldog44s a basic all purpose cleaner should clean it right off. Try a few light applications of cleaner along with a traditional type such pad or brush and you should be fine.
Hi,
I Just Bought A 2022 SUV Yesterday.
Before Taking It, It Was Cleaned.
There Is Like Looking Water Spots On My Leather Dashboard.
How Do I Fix That. :(
"Do not drag your ass on the side bolsters when you get in and out of your car!" Lol this is the realist advice ever. Also I used to clip my keys on my hip, but my ex asked me nicely to not have my keys there when I got in the car. I didnt even think of buttons or keys scratching but it makes total sense!
Those getting in and out of your car is so on point.. but also unexpected! Good call.
Nobody taught me how to get in and out of the car. Great tips
Best video on this subject, i was a sheep for many years & probably ruined many leather seats because of this.
never thought about how i get in and out of my car. Thanks for the tips!
So, other than being careful getting in and out of the car, what is the best coating to use on the clean leather?
What happens if I have an over sized trouser trout ? Does it mean I have to untuck it from my shoe before I put pressure on the brake before I do the spin in ?
Great video. We purchased a truck with leather seats (17 GMC Sierra 1500
Denali) and the seats are VERY slippery. What can we do to help this? I think they used only conditioner.
I do not want the hassle of maintaining leather.
cheers auto, just picked up my new car first leather i ever had, thanks for the tips. first video i looked at. Nice
Do you have a video with cleaning products for leather that you recommended? I can’t seem to find one.
Question, I wonder why my 2013 toyota camry fake leather stink, like the toyota make fake leather smell?
good tip on getting out of trucks though, every time I get out of mine I cringe as I slide and smash the hell out of the side of the seat lol it is my own fault because I refuse to have a step rail...that would solve the problem but dont like the look. I will attempt your method!
Are the all in one cleaners good? Like the cleaner and conditioner products?
is johnson oil good for car leather seats ?
Great explanation video. I have a Laramie truck it's different to get out of truck. What products and brands do u to protect the leather from friction. I used conditioner by Jay lenos. But u said no. Lucky me used only once. Just bought truck couple weeks ago. I see there's been wear on the seat from previous owner
Are you saying ALL car leather has a coating.....?
Could you advise on how to get a small white scratch (surface leather) out of brown leather bmw seats?
Some really good advice and like how you showed how to get in and out the of a vehicle.
