Hey comic Drake I notice that you have a Yu-Gi-Oh millennium puzzle sign in your background I want to know if you ever consider covering for your Channel an episode
Please do a video essay on Deathstroke and Deadshot please
*Wa kan I hip thrust, da*
Said multiverse Namor, new king of wakanda.
There is a new queen of Atlantis too.
Shuri the black panther.
Wakanda an Altanis is now one kingdom.
19:13
Symbiote: "No! Fire explosions, No!"
Panther: "You will not".
Symbiote: "It hurts you too you know."
Panther: "No"
Symbiote: "Eh, whatever."
Writers write plot armor.
Moment justifiably hardcore sick action, that makes no sense.
"I'm not the target audience and that's fine." I NEED EVERYONE TO INTERNALIZE THIS STATEMENT PLEASE
Sad thing, many POC went through that and understand that message clearly especially in Hollywood
This comment (combined with the content) is exactly why like liked, commented, and subscribed

@@69meplease100 so everything needs to be catered specifically to you?
@@TheSimpleThief what are you yapping about lil bro?
I like the idea of legacy heroes. Allows comic writers to tell the story of a character and not have the status quo returned to by the journey's end. When all is said and done, the title passes to another writer and character who will have tales of their own.
Next Avengers REALLY should have been given more love😭
It's a interesting idea.
10:00 that is THE COOLEST explanation for why Cap changed his shield
Jodio!
couldn't agree more
Black Panther into Avatar TLAB comparisons are...100% applicable and yet I'd somehow never thought of before
I LOVE the idea of superhero legacies, I want to see superheroes in tons of time periods, settings and genres and see how the same motifs and themes are changed and warped by different details.
That shit's my jam
DC sort of does this with the Justice Society, but going even further into the past would make for great content. Spiderman can totally do it. So can the X-Men, Hawkeye, Thor, etc.
Villains can do it too. Have an ancient equivalent of Scarlet Witch for example.
@@commonviewer2488 DC also has other multiversal stuff besides Earth-2/Earth 2/Earth-Two (the Golden Age universe, which of course is also where the concept of a DC Multiverse started), there's also stuff like Gotham by Gaslight (19th Century Batman vs Jack the Ripper), DC Bombshells (an alternate version of DC's WWII), Batman Ninja (Bat-family and a bunch of Gotham City villains (and Grodd) got isekai'd into Feudal Japan and their wardrobes and arsenals were adapted for the era, even Grodd's) and JLA: Age of Wonder (another 19th century Elseworlds story).
Ever heard of the Phantom? similar sorta story, and the series for decades has issues about past Phantoms in different time periods. Its pretty big in Australia!
Konshu's other fist, Hunter's Moon, has the ability as well.
@@commonviewer2488 unless spiderman is an elseworld story it would make zero sense for that to be in the same timeline
I'd love a video about characters like Captain America, Magneto, and Charles Xavier who are somewhat stuck in a certain time because of the significance of their origins and their futures as characters in comics i.e. magneto casually being featured in a comic story in the year 2056
I second that xD
Plus it made think, if we reach the year 2099, will Peter Parker still be Spiderman... or finally Miguel O'Hara will become the main Spidey because of the year setting in real life?
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732 I bet we'd get a legacy stories like what they did for Iron Man 2020 in 2020
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732robably an event that ties the two. Ala Iron Man 2020
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732We should ask this generation of babies to keep an eye out for that when they become grandparents. Because that's how long we'll have to wait
I'm glad to watch some Black Pathet content without worrying about movie spoilers since Comic & Movie canons are different. Thanks for a great video!
Learning of the history of one of if not the most iconic Black super heroes really is something special, especially for those of similar ethnicity. My respect for you keeps growing with every passing video.
Definitely THE most iconic and influential, I’m pretty sure
Him or Black Lightning.
@@Intr0vertical Luke Cage or maybe Jon Stewart
Neither of the black superheroes mentioned in this comment chain are as iconic as the Panther Man.
Eh
We need to learn more about the past Black Panthers, kinda like we got to learn about past Iron Fists in a certain run that is considered the best the character has ever had.
Black Panther: Into the Panther-Verse
Now that’s something that should happen
Storm would have made a sick Black Panther, in case Marvel wants to do a What If
Holy shit, imagine some nameless goon challenging Black Panther to a fight and going "Okay, so Black Panther has boobs now. No problem, all she can do is hit really hard"
And then she just whips out her lightning powers.
@@brokenbiscuit3609 then the goon just goes oh fun
The part where Killmonger gets a pass at being the new Black Panther by T'Challa was because around that time he was suffering from a brain anurysem and met his future self who was dying because of it. It was a whole plot line involving King Solomon's Frogs. That whole thing is covered around issue 40ish of the 3rd volume of BP. It was resolved and seldom spoke of again. Easy ro miss.
Are those the frogs that teleport when copulating?
Right, the whole bit where future T'Challa was absurdly happy go lucky. I guess I didn't put together that that's why he was being so moody. I know he spent so much of his time in New York during that run, but it just still feels like a departure for the character to not care about his role as chieftain back home and handed it over to a literal mass murderer.
@@ComicDrake can you make elaine belloc video 🙂
Wakanda in every new run Marvel releases always looks the same and at the same time new. Same for T'Challa. I feel that the stories Marvel tells with Black Panther are deep and grounded and some might be a bit...much. Thanks for covering Black Panther, Comic Drake! I joined you about two years ago when you had the old intro. I got a suggestion for a video idea: DC vs. Vampires. It's wild with the issues that were going on.
“I know what I’m talking about” -Comic Drake. I don’t doubt it. Comic Drake and Comics Explained are two of my favorite channels 👍🏽
That symbiote enhanced black panther sounds awesome 😎
9:19 is this the baseline for that Captain America + Black Panther game thats coming out? Because if so thats SUPER interesting
The first female black panther, Nehanda is so underrated
She also represents Bisexuality and or able to be gay without consequences Wakanda always ahead of the rest of the world
@@pharaohblu7849 oh god
That Shuri book was mid AF. I gifted issues to my friend's daughter though and she loved them so hey, different strokes.
Legitimately great to hear that perspective. I also didn't enjoy the book, but I'm glad that there's people that did.
@ComicDrake yeah, a lot of the ancillary books during the Coates era did nothing for me, but I'm always glad to hear them reaching an audience that did appreciate them.
@@ComicDrake Got to introduce kids to this content somehow. Please read about King Shaka Zulu. I believe Black Panther was inspired by him
God this makes my thoughts about T'Challa's lineage so much easier than trying to figure it out by googling and wikidiving.
god I hope we get zombie symbiote killmonger somehow in the mcu. That feels like it'd be fun.
We've already gotten all 3, separately. Now it's just a matter of putting them together
13:14 Wait, why was Moon Knight there and why didn't he do anything after the duel?
Idk if you used this in your research but Black Panther: Protectors of Wakanda: A History and Training Manual of the Dora Milaje had some history of past black panthers in it. Looking forward to future vids! 👍🏾
I just absolutely love this guy's videos. The amount of research and attention to detail is insane. Even the map of Wakanda used a tiny Infinity Gauntlet pointer. I also appreciate that the script conveys information and his tone illustrates the comic. It makes it easier to absorb the material while watching and playing games. Great video as per usual Drake!
17:50 Shuri can do WHAT now😭
WAKANDA FOREVER!
Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda is wild but i can't help but feel like the symbiote thing was just "ay, Donny Cates is doing cool Venom stuff, lets throw them into the space story". Like, is it the most unrealistic addition to the story? no. Is it kinda unneeded? yeah
I thought it was cool
@Pharaoh Blu it is! Just dunno if it was needed,
I get so excited when I see new videos from you!
A historic hero for the black community. The first of his kind. Mad respect for diving into the lineage of mantle. Representation’s importance continues to be downplayed and I know I’m not the only one who loved seeing someone who likes like me being a badass hero

11:48 I’m sorry, but Hank Green taught me how the saying goes: “hold the fort.” The fort isn’t inflatable and filled with helium; it’s a defensive position to be held.
I would love to see more of these "Every _____ Explained" videos.
Good thing that there's a bunch of them on this channel already.
Wild. Great vid, thanks for all your hard work!
T’Challa acted like that with Killmonger because he was defeated by him. His stubbornness and embarrassment at the fact that he fought so hard with all his will and belief and still lost (even though Ross caused him yo lose in the first place) rankled his resolve
I think some of the stuff like king of the dead magic and the wakandan historical mage powers are really cool and interesting ideas for the two of them
Great video! Would love for you to cover the time he took over for Daredevil
Was expecting you to mention Casper Cole. He never took the mantle officially, but he wore (a torn version of) the suit and was the protagonist of the Black Panther comics for almost a year in the last archs of Priest's run.
Like I said at literally the beginning of the video, he's getting his own dedicated episode.
@@ComicDrake Cool. I'm reading Black Panther by Hudlin now, and will read Coate's run after it and i'm curious about his history after Priest's run ended.
Killmonger^2 is absolutely the sort of shit I love about comics. It's a Shame Symbiote N'Jadaka died, because honestly a character that can basically erase souls with how strong their presence is is *also* the sort of shit I love about comics.
Bro is just the definition of built different
That was great. Thanks!!!
You are super talented. Thank you so much for the insight and wisdom.
19:11 Yo I LOVE that artstyle. Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda sounds wild. Might read it now
6:00 also Mamadou’s exposed chin and his ear shape make him look the most like Batman.
This is so great
Thank you so much
Great breakdown of Black Panther!! It was truly heart warming to hear so much about one of my favorite heroes and the rich history of his lineage. You are awesome Drake!!!
I really love your shirt in this video!
great to see such a good video on black panther
There's plenty more good comic videos where that came from. 😉

Great video, very well researched! It's clear you actually read the comics and not just the wiki page lol. Would love to see a video about every sourcerer supreme one day. Cheers!
Oh trust me, it's in the works.
Question that may have been answered. Is Black Panther an animal totem like Spider-Man? Just something that popped in my head.
Thank you comic drake
I love this video so much.
As someone who grew up with late 80s and early 90s comics... You have earned my like for telling the truth. 90s comics while being the most popular are terrible.
Excellent video I love this review what is your favorite black panther run
Wow I always wondered about this shuri fighting a music box like a episode of grim adventures of billy and Mandy lol
These videos are great
also, Birnin is a hausa word for City, interesting detail there lol
What a great character
sooooo t’challa basically does side quests while his duty is to be the black panther 🤣🤣🤣 i mean i don’t blame him
9:33 ok, so this one is the Black Panther that we will see in the upcoming Captain America/Black Panther (maybe Wolverine too) WWII Uncharted-esque game... right??
Love this
Dude you never cease to amaze me with the extensive research and presentation of tons of stuff that damn near no one knows. Galactic empire Wakanda was def something I've never heard anyone mention, nor Shuri being in Groots body. Ridiculous stuff some of these writers come up with but I wouldn't have it any other way #BecauseComics. :)
Great breakdown
A very interesting history , indeed!
great video.
Man, the Intergalactic Wakanda Empire storyline sounds badass. Why haven't I heard about this until now?!
wait they made a cop the black panther? Oh boy, that’s gonna be a good video
That wasnt supposed to happen
Can't wait to do a drinking challenge of taking a shot every time Black Panther is said
Do a video on Namor
I hope they recast T'Challa because he's the 1 true panther plus I wanna see BP kod
damn good job!
Having to do history of every black panther is the marvel comics was probably not a easy task i hope that your next is a lot simpler and have a merry Christmas ☺
Time to change that tag line.
I'm Comic Drake and I know my stuff. Lol!
Do a video on that prehistoric avengers you talking about
Was that a damn Hamilton reference
Maybe 😏
Black panther has always been T’Challa story

I know the best choice to go with is Quality or over Quantity but even if it meant less quality I still wish you’d upload more.
The hamilton reference put a smile on my face

The black panther role has existed since the year 1,000,000 bc. It seems unlikely it took more than one million years for there to be female black panther

Okay but where did you get that jacket? It's so fresh
6:13 or his Yangchen.
9:50 That's not derivative of Wolfenstein 3D _at all!_ :P
Course the MachineGames version of Wilhelm "Deathshead" (Totenkopf) Strasse exists too.
Wish Azari existed in mainstream

7:28 i find it hilarious how you prononced this as "sayian." the sayians and wakandans hace such polar opposite morals it's hilarious to think one of them has a town that sounds like the other's species
15:12 I absolutely agree and hate ya'll .....
If you haven't already do a video on every Batman in DC comics history
Did Mjolnir already require worthiness when the first Black Panther wielded it?
It was still ‘young’ and stubborn towards Odin, but it still mostly liked choosing good people to use it. So the answer is sorta yes from what I know about that hammer.
