Since Patch 4/5 dropped, you may be prompted to update Frosty. Just follow these new steps!: 1. If you’ve yet to get the newest version of the Frosty Mod Manager, this would be a great opportunity to do so! You can get it from the same link as before (github.com/wavebend/FrostyToolsuite/releases ). If you’re already using the newest version, skip this. 2. After opening Frosty, you’ll see the message to update via “Origin”. This just means open Veilguard like you normally would without mods (for me, that means hitting "Play" in Steam), and then hit "Next" in Frosty. Updating might take a couple minutes (especially on the last SDK step), but wait patiently until it's done, then close out of the game. If you weren't prompted to update, skip this. 3. Find your ModData folder (which will be in the same place as your game .exe; for me, that’s Program Files (x86)>Steam>steamapps>common>Dragon Age The Veilguard, and then there it is). Delete this ModData folder! Trust me: Frosty will create a new folder for you the next time you launch from it. 4. Restart FMM now, and then you can pick up my Tutorial from its STEP 3, adding and applying all your mods and launching from the Mod Manager like I've shown. (And if you were already modding with the old version of Frosty and want to download the same mods you were using before, you can easily relocate them by clicking your account icon on Nexus>Download History.) Please remember that in the early days of modding a new game, things can be a little unpredictable and get updated rapidly. I’ll always get this new information out to y’all as soon as I’m able! 💚
Thank you, but even following these steps the game won't launch unfortunately. Well, early modding issues maybe. Unfortunate that there is no way to manually launch
thank you for this guide! i dont usually mod any games i play but with veilguard i want to try out something new, and your tutorial is very informative and easy to understand so, thank you!!
Just thought its worth mentioning that if you followed any guides on increasing performance/stutter such as running the game as administrator, disabling full screen optimisations etc etc and you cant get the Mod Manager to launch the game, revert all those steps you made. I couldn't get the game to launch with mods until I had reset the application settings, posting this so hopefully I save others some time!
Literally just saved me. Was wondering why this shit wouldn't work for me, then un-installed a stutter mod that I forgot I downloaded when the game first dropped and now it works. Thank you!
@@TitanGT66 Glad I could help! I also downloaded one of those mods too, it ran well enough but was getting a lot of split second stutters, eventually, (80 hours in game time) I realised that it was being caused by Frame Generation in the settings.. I never needed that mod or any of the other performance tweaks, I just needed to turn off that ONE bloody setting 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
FYI texture and color are the same thing. I think u meant u had one mod that changes the mesh and one that changes the color/texture. I was wondering which to load first since i was dealing with the same situation. But i was able to see you had a mod that removed a coat from an armor ( mesh) and another that changed the color (texture) of that same armor. Thank u for taking the time to make thins video. It was very helpful.
Thanks for the guide. I thought this was going to be a lot harder than it looks plus since I've had to change computers since my last playthrough of Inqusition this may fix the issue I had with old saves that used the body mod for the male elves. So glad they at least fixed that aspect for Veilguard.
My Frosty always crashes or ends up not responding when I try to paste in and submit the encryption key. I made sure to install the latest version of Frosty and everything so this is really strange!
FYI: after pressing Launch the game does not start and Frosty MM (which is launched from admin) minimizes and that's all. deleting the folder, disabling the checkboxes in the properties of the shortcut in the game, deleting ReShade also did not help. maybe it's because I'm not using a licensed version, but I've heard that they all work well. halp :(
Everything was working fine yesterday, then the latest patch came in and I downloaded the latest Frosty Manager. It opens, I hit "Launch Game", it does the loading thing, but then Steam just... doesn't open the game. Steam opens the game the normal way but without mods, but obviously, I want mods, is there an update video coming to help us deal with this? Cuz overall, this was helpful but with the new issues, I'm at a loss.. XD
Launch button doesnt seem to work for me, it takes abit to load everything and says launching the game only to minimize itself and not actually launch the game :(
@@Skulljaws You could also maybe try running Frosty as an admin, but it looks like some of the old tricks may not be working anymore, so I'll let you know if I find another solution!
That's such an amazing and clear tutorial! Thank you for making it, this will be super useful for a lot of new peeps. Would it be ok if I add a link to your video in my tutorial? 😊
Same. Tried to read some comments and It seems nobody answers youtube comments, let alone read 460 of them in one take. Especially after a month, as if anyting related to the video is expired and dead!
Here are some other troubleshooting steps that might work: 1. Update and restart your PC. 2. Open Steam/EA and minimize before opening Frosty and launching. 3. Launch the game once through Steam/EA once without mods first. 4. Try just one mod at a time (you could have a conflict in your load order). 5. If you've set Frosty to run as an admin, you could try it on the game .exe too or try lowering your anti-virus settings. 6. If you made any changes to your graphics settings, revert them. 7. Remove and redownload the game and Frosty (most recent version), possibly on a different drive.
@@PosiCobra 1. My pc is always updated, it's not 2000 any more with the common knowledge. 2 & 3. I did that way before you even mentioned it. 4. Just started with one mod. I tried another, with it or none. It's the same thing. 5. You haven't read the original comment. It's ALREADY on admin rights. This time avast wall is deactivated. Nope. Same 6. The settings from the game's graphics remain the same as the se conf time I launched it. You're reaching. 7. WTF are you on about? It's win95 to make setups all over again! What;s next? windows reinstalation or even format the drtives? 8. It's patch 4 already. I didn't ask for help before I tried any of these. People are not stupid as much as you think!
@@Celticstill Wow. I am honestly shocked that you would be this rude to anyone, let alone someone who was trying to help you. Looks like you'll have to figure this out on your own.
I followed all the instructions, but I still can't enter the game. I have tried both deleting the modData's fold or ensuring that "Disable fullscreen optimizations" is unchecked, but still, after the launch screen, the game doesn't open, and nothing happens.
Running Frosty as an administrator (right-click>Properties>check box) might fix this problem, but if not, let me know, and I'll recommend some other fixes.
So...trying to figure out WHY this version of Frosty NEEDS an encryption key other than this dev decided it. SO would the old version of Frosty work? Like it makes no sense when the old version of frosty did not need an encryption key AT ALL to work. What gives?!
I don't know why we have to use the key now either! And I haven't tested it with an older version of Frosty, but I don't believe it will work. If you test it out, let me know!
My game just does not load. I did everything without any issues, but after I clicked launch, nothing happened. It is, supposedly, launching, but nothing opens. I've deleted the ModData folder multiple times now. I didn't have this issue with DAI.
You might want to try opening whatever platform you're using the run the game (Steam or EA), and then minimizing it before launching through Frosty, and you could try running Frosty as an admin. Also updating and restarting your PC is always a good measure to take. But if none of that works, there might be another solution I'm not aware of. I'll let you know if I find something else!
I was having trouble with Step 5. I would hit continue when the Steam prompt would appear but then it wouldn't actually load the game. It would say "running" and then would stop without launching the actual game. I tried all the fixes in these comments, in the discord, on reddit, and none of them worked. I reinstalled steam, veilguard, frosty. I tried IT ALL. I decided to take the path code from the Steam prompt (the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age The Veilguard\ModData\Default) and input it into the Launch Options myself in the games properties settings in Steam. AND IT WORKED. I've only tested it with one mod (the Everything Unlocked mod) but it finally worked. Not sure if it's the fix for EVERYONE but it's another option to try for others struggling like me!
This was super helpful - I don't suppose you have any advice for when FMM says the game is launching, and minimises like it's going to launch, but then nothing happens? I've tried google and reddit but nothing has sorted it :( Anything else aside, this was such a helpful video, there wasn't any faff or nonsense, it was just useful, helpful information, shown clearly, so thank you for that - I normally avoid video tutorials because they're 30 minutes of nonsense along with maybe 3 minutes of actual helpful information, but this was really refreshing, so thank you!
Thank you! I'm glad it was mostly helpful. ☺ You may have tried some of these troubleshooting steps already, but here's what I would recommend for the launch issue: 1. Always update drivers and restart your PC first. 2. Run Frosty as an administrator by right-clicking and going to Properties. 3. Delete your ModData folder (more detail about that is in the pinned comment). 4. Open either Steam of the EA app (whichever you're using) and minimize it before launching through Frosty. Launching once through the platform without mods first can sometimes kick-start things too. 5. If you've made any changes to graphics settings, revert them. And there are some other tips that some users have recommended throughout the comments here, but typically one of these steps should fix it. Please let me know if not, and we'll keep looking!
5:10 When this shows up for me after pressing it the game kinda faux launches lol it'll just show it start up but never really starts like how it normally does
Hello, thank you for the tutorial. But im having issues with SDK files. Im not able to update the files and it keeps saying " unable to access the specified process " after i launched the game from Steam. Any help???
I believe there was someone else here who said they encountered the same error, but now I can't find their comment. You could try running Frosty as an admin, but I'll let you know if I find a different solution!
@PosiCobra graphics are on high settings and ray tracing is off. Edit: I changed my settings to ultra and the faces still look melted. The jawline area 😬
@@PosiCobra I removed all my mods and the problem still occured. It turns out it didn't have to do with Frosty but with my graphics settings. Ever since patch 4, the lines in game looked like they were flickering and the faces were melted. I fixed it by changing Upscale Method to none and Anti-Aliasing to DLAA. Anyway, thanks for the mod tutorial. It helped me a lot!
Thank you for a fantastic tutorial! I've tried to click the link to get the encryption key but media fire is saying the key is no longer being shared? I tried going through the written tutorial but I get an encryption key for FIFA instead.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I just updated the link with the same one from PinkyDude's written guide; it says FIFA, but it actually is the correct one.
Appreciate it! I believe there are two ways to backup saves: 1. If you're using Steam, right-click on the game>Properties>Installed Files>Backup game files. 2. Go to Documents>BioWare>Dragon Age The Veilguard, then make a copy of your "save games" folder and manually paste it somewhere safe on your PC. Full disclosure though: I never back up my saves and just live on the edge. 😎 (Probably don't be like me though...) If I end up making a follow-up video with some trouble-shooting tips, I'll make sure to show this process visually too!
Hi! Awesome tutorial but I'm having an odd issue: when trying to launch the game via frosty I get a steam pop up "DAV is attempting to launch with optional parameters shown below " and when I hit continue... nothing happens. The game doesn't open. Tried giving frosty admin permissions and deleting the modfolder but so far nothing worked. Any ideas? :
Thank you! Just double-checking: you mean the ModData folder, right? I just want to make sure you deleted the correct one. And then, would you mind verifying what it says in the path to mod folder section?
@@Yverune It definitely is strange! Maybe you could try decreasing your anti-virus settings to see if something there is blocking it? Or run the game as an admin, though I kind of doubt that will do it. If you've already made any changes to the graphics settings, some people have said that reverting those to default might help too. Then there is all the typical trouble-shooting things like updating drivers, verifying your game files through Steam, and restarting your PC.
@PosiCobra good news: fixed it! Bad-ish news: I have... no idea why this fixed it. But sharing anyway in case it helps someone else? 😂 Tried reinstalling DAV. Nope. deleting modfolder. Nope. clearing frosty cache, launching w/ admin. Nope. Nope. Finally reached the point of "well nothing's worked so far so might as well try this" and... reinstalled Steam expecting nothing. So of course THAT worked. 😂
Has anyone else had trouble with the UI of Frosty? I can get to the part where I am supposed to enter the encryption key but my box for it looks smaller than what's shown at 2:25, it doesn't have the space to enter the key at all and I can't resize the box or anything. Newest version, this is my first time trying to use it. If I click "Cancel" it obviously doesn't do much, and if I just click "Done" it starts giving me errors but it does make a .key file for DAV in the main folder of Frosty. I tried to edit the .key file with Notepad++ and put the encryption key in there then save it, but all that does is give me an error about.....padding? I'm not sure what it means. I feel like my issue is just with that box though, if it weren't weirdly small and crunched up in comparison to what's shown in the video I'm sure I could enter the key like normal.......does anyone know what could cause the box to be all weird and small without the space to enter the key? Any suggestions are appreciated and thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply!!
That is so strange! I'm not sure what could be causing it. Is it possible that maybe you downloaded the Frosty Editor rather than the ModManager? I really doubt that's it, but I just want to cover all bases. And updating and restarting your computer is always my go-to advice first.
@@PosiCobra I actually downloaded both the Mod Manager and the Editor to see if I could get either to work but they both have the issue aaaa. I didn't think to update+restart my computer though and I did try that as well but still no luck unfortunately. I'm still trying different things hopefully it's just some stupid setting on my computer that's effecting the size of the window I need to find and shut off or something ? 😭
@@PosiCobra Oh my goodness I found my solution and I feel so silly now. It was because I have bad eyesight so I had the text size on my computer set very large, that's what was messing up the window. Setting the text back to normal size fixed my issue 😭😭😭
This is good to know. Have they figured out a way so I don't have to launch the game for VG from Frosty yet? I noticed some of the mods are now on Vortex Mod Manager, but those aren't wanting to work either
Launching outside of Frosty will probably never be an option since that's how you get the mods to apply to your game. And I don't recommend using Vortex to mod any game only because it is a one-size-fits-all mod manager and was not designed for the game itself, so it's less likely to run smoothly.
Ugh, I don't know what's wrong but after adding Veilguard to my Frosty, it says that I need to update profile SDK, but when I launch the game, the task "waiting for process to become active" automatically fails. I get a red X and the message "unable to access the specified process". I don't know what to do T.T
I've figured it out 😅 I forgot to run Frosty as administrator, so when I ran the game, the first process automatically failed. Now I'm stuck on the mods not working, even after selecting Continue in the Steam pop-up. The game just won't launch with mods even after deleting ModData folder and relaunching :/
@@clover-nix Hey, at least that's progress! So just to clarify: is the game not launching at all through Frosty now, or is it opening but no mods are visible in game?
This has been a great learning experience to not complain before exhausting all options 😅 I was able to get it working! I just had to uncheck "Disable full-screen optimisations" in DAV's .exe Thank you so much for the video and the willingness to help me out
You could try running Frosty as an administrator and/or verifying that the path to the game .exe is correct. (In Steam, you can double-check this by right-clicking on the game>Manage>Browse Local Files.) There is also a new version of the Mod Manager that might work better for you!
Ok so I followed all the instructions, but the game will not launch. I get up to the point where Steam tells me I'm launching the game with custom arguments, I click Continue and the game looks like it's launching and then it just stops, the button goes back to the green PLAY button. EDIT: Ok now it works lol. Tysm for the guide! Though it wasn't as easy for me as you made it seem 😅
@@alinajustme11 To be honest I'm not 100% sure what fixed it but here's what I did: -I deleted the ModData folder in the Veilguard directory before trying to run the Mod Manager -I made sure to run the Mod Manager as administrator -I made sure to have only one mod active, just to check if it worked (in my case it was the mod to hide the Lyrium dagger), I haven't yet tried adding more mods at the same time Hope any of this helps you, this whole process definitely hasn't been smooth for me lol
I'm encountering an issue with my mod manager. I'm either getting errors I can get around or am just crashing. I got it to open once by the power of luck but haven't been able to get it to work. I tried uninstalling and readding but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
When are the errors popping up? When you are opening Frosty, trying to launch the game, or some other time? It would also help to know what the error message says. Until then, my go-to tips are to update your drivers/restart your PC, run Frosty as an admin, and delete your ModData folder.
Loved your tutorial, but I'm having issues, the game launches through Frosty but the mods don't apply no matter what I do, I've tried using frosty fix, running as administrator. I've modded games before using Frosty so I know how to use it kinda. Anyone got an idea as to what the issue could be? I got the game on epic games and it launches through the EA app.
Thank you, and I'll do my best to help! I have a some questions and suggestions to get us started: 1. When you hit "Launch" in Frosty, do you get any pop-ups asking for elevated permissions? This will help me figure out if FMM is actually trying to interact with your game files or if it's just bypassing them. 2. What kinds of mods are you using? If they are visual edits, you might just need to make sure your graphics settings are set to Ultra. 3. Make sure that you're signed into EA, then minimize it before starting FMM and launching. Sometimes that helps things get along better. 4. I'm not sure if getting the game from one place and running through another is causing the issue, but you might just want to verify that your game location path is set correctly (and that you don't somehow have two copies of the game in two places... weirdly enough, that happened to me once, and now I'm paranoid about it!) 5. You could try clearing the EA app cache or possibly deleting the ModData (or similarly named) folder from your local files. 6. I'm guessing that this won't be it since your game is launching fine, but just to cover my bases, I always like to remind everyone to update their drivers and restart their PC if they are encountering an issue. Please let me know if any of that fixed it or not!
@@PosiCobra Thanks for the help, think the problem might be in that first thing you mentioned because it just launches the game without asking for permissions. The mod I was trying to install was one you used, a retexture for inky's outfit and I have my settings on ultra. I am signed into EA and I just checked, I don't have two copies of the game in different places.
@@shame6705 Okay, thank you for the information! I'll see if anyone else that is using EA has a solution. Also, I haven't been able to test that Inquisitor mod yet, so you could maybe test if another mod shows up for you instead? Like a mod that changes font is really easy to spot if it's working right away, or one of the armor retextures is a quick check just by visiting the wardrobe. Just to verify that no mods are working at all.
@@shame6705 I just wanted to come back to this to let you know there's a new version of the Mod Manager now! Hopefully it solves your issue. github.com/wavebend/FrostyToolsuite/releases
@@PosiCobra Hi ! i don't know if its tool ate or not im a month late but im having the same issue, im using the latest version of FMM and on EA, i did everything running it as admin, giving permissions still none of my mods appear in game
Yeah so I just downloaded mods for outfits, but when I launch the game and press continue, it's just crashed... sadly I could only use one mod to make it work... did I do something wrong?
If one mod works, maybe there was just a bad one in the bunch that wasn't playing nicely with the rest of them and causing the crash. You could keep applying the rest one at a time to narrow down which mod is causing the problem.
Hello! Great tutorial. I followed and put the encryption key and updated the SDK but I can't get past the loading data section. Is there something I can do to fix this?
Thank you! Sometimes it does take a while (at least a few minutes). Maybe you could try using one mod to see if it launches faster just to double-check that there's no conflict? If that works, then you can add in the rest one at a time.
@PosiCobra for DAV it has never worked. Only works for DAI. Ive even tried running both DAV and mod manager with under admin and nothing seems to work.
So I saw that upon startup, frosty will try to run the game but in steam, it just shuts down all of a sudden. It'll say it's playing but then immediately shut down. I can't seem to find a workaround to this problem. I've also tried to change some setting in steam.
@@EddyRomer666 Did you try deleting your ModData folder? I have some more information about that in the pinned comment. I've also seen a few people mention that they had to revert their graphics settings to get things to work more smoothly if you made any optimization changes (probably do the same for Steam too).
Thanks! Pardon my ignorance here, but I believe the Swap Library mod and then whatever armor you're using that requires it just need to go at the end of your load order. Is there something specific you're looking to do with it?
Hi there! I wanted to say thank you for the guide but I’m still having an issue. I have everything set up and installed but whenever I press launch on frosty an error box comes up labeled “an unhandled exception has occurred” and the first line in the box says “Field not found: ‘Frosty.Core.App.FileSystem’.” Not sure what my issue is but I’d really appreciate any insight. Thank you so much!
No problem! I'm not sure what is causing that error, but here are a few of my standard trouble-shooting tips that could possibly fix it: 1. Update and restart your PC. 2. Run Frosty as an administrator (by right-clicking, and you can set it to always open this way under Properties). 3. Double-check that you've deleted the correct ModData folder. 4. Launch the game once normally from Steam or EA (not Frosty) first. 5. Making sure "Read Only" is unticked on both the folder where the game and Frosty Mod Manager are installed. 6. Lower your anti-virus settings. 7. Try a fresh installation of Frosty.
No problem! It probably depends on the mod; the authors should let you know in the description if Ultra settings are necessary. Or you could test out a couple, and if they're not showing up, switch to the same settings you were using for Inquisition.
I was wondering if you, or anyone else, might have a solve for something I am experiencing. I'm familiar with the old Frosty Manager and never had any issues, but with the most recent version it makes me right-click to Run as Administrator ever time. It doesn't save the status as Administrator-allowed and if I don't do this, I get the "Unhandled" error. The other issue I have is that it is also not saving the Pack load. Which means every other time or so I have to apply my MOD's again. Which isn't the worst thing, but generally annoying. I tried renaming the pack and that seemed to help for a day or two but then it reverted back to needing to apply again. If you know of how to workaround either of these it would be most appreciated.
Those are some unique issues I've never seen before, and yes, that does sound annoying! I don't know why it's clearing your admin privilege if you've applied and saved the setting under Properties, and your applied mods clearing seems related. Are you signed into your PC and not running as a guest? Or maybe it's some kind of anti-virus/security setting interference? I'm really not sure!
Hi I am still having issues with the encryption key and I copied / pasted it. I have no idea what I am doing wrong i have used Frosty before with no issues and now I can't get it to work.
The issue I'm having is that it doesn't go past the encryption key. I input it, hit done, and it locks up, but it never moves past that point. Does anyone have any ideas?
Hi, I purchased the game on epic and had to launch it through EAapp. After I followed the steps in the video, the mods in the game did not work. Is this because of EA? And is there any solution for this.😮💨
Another person has mentioned the same issue, and I don't currently have a solution; it seems that Frosty gets confused by Epic purchases. There is a new version of the Mod Manager out now though that could possibly work better for you! github.com/wavebend/FrostyToolsuite/releases
Hii! Thank you so much for the toturial and your hard work on it to prepare it! Tho I'm kinda stuck at the start when trying to launch the mod manager (newest ver of coz) :( It keep trying to get to access to the not existing path for DAI (which I played like 2y ago xD And it was removed long time ago). Is there a way to change the path for the DAV manually? :( (steam ver if that's anything to do with the issue) I'm sad :(
If you hit Add on that first popup as soon as you start up Frosty, you should be able to put in the correct path to Veilguard like I show at 2:08 . Is that showing up for you?
@@PosiCobra the first pop up when launching the FMM app is a window with error only :( idnt even had a chance to get into the app itself :( I'm trying to find here the file leftovers from DAI are but it's in vain. Such a weir sit :(

Thanks I really needed this, they updated it again like 12 hours ago, however frosty no longer launches it. pops up from steam like normal then it cancels out.
If it's just a popup from Mediafire, you can typically close out of that, and it will still download, but if not, you could try accessing the link and downloading from an private window or maybe lower your security settings in your browser (it seems like it might be firewall interference).
Hi, you helped me a lot. I´ve got only problems with the launching. I am using the AE App and I know I´m supposed to change in the options to lunching from AE but... there´s no option for that. @PosiCobra yup, same issue. It says "acces denied to path Program Files/EA Games/Dragon Age The Veilguard/ModData/Default". I also tried running Frosty as admin and re installing it, didn't work either because of the same problem.
I can get into the game just fine and all mods load perfectly. I can play normally and go through conversations and stuff. But whenever it's time for one of those cutscenes with Varric's voice over at the end of a chapter or quest or whatever, I get a CTD. I've tried each mod separately, the same thing happens, so I believe it's a mod manager issue, not any specific mod causing the crashes. Any insight into how I could fix it? The modded armours look so much better. 😭
If you can play through the Varric narration with no mod, I know this is a pain, but when you're about to end one of those quests or if your game crashes, I would just close out of the game and then launch normally instead of through the manager so that you can at least get through the section from your last save without mods. Then restart the game using your mods again. In the early days of modding a new game, there might be weird issues like this, so we'll just have to keep our eye out for fixes. I'll definitely get back to you if I find that other people are having the same problem and let you know what the solution is!

Looks like Steam has it directly, but not sure about EA and i do not have game from steam, yk. I got this by Ea bcs there was discount, oof :D And big thanks again for your time, your awesome :3
@@rpgacc6728 It's no problem! I'm happy to help if I can. Maybe the folder is hidden somehow? It should be in the EA folder, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't be appearing or searchable. 😕
Just a few questions: 1. Are you using Steam, EA, or something else to run the game? 2. When you hit "Launch", does it look like the game is trying to start but then nothing, or are you getting an error message? 3. Have you tried some general trouble-shooting techniques like updating your drivers/restarting your PC or running Frosty as an admin?
@@PosiCobra tbh with you i've pirated the game since the price is literally half my monthly salary here. is that what's causing the problem you think? cause I had no such problem with Inquisition. also when I hit launch, FMM goes down but the game doesn't come up.
@@mrmesolonely9602 Yes, that seems to be the issue, unfortunately. A few other people have said that they didn't purchase the game and that this process doesn't work for them either.
I launched the game before tapping next multiple times but it still shows a cross against waiting for process to become active, can you specify how you solved it?
@@akitakane479 Hmm. I'm not sure why that's not working! You could try updating/restarting your PC and running Frosty as an admin if you've yet to do so.
idk why but whenever I try to add Veilguard to Frosty via Steamapp it only shows my BG3 files (but when I explore the steamapp files without Frosty it shows Veilguard and all my games-) Frosty automatically found DAI so aaa idk what's wrong xD (I just want the silly mod that give Manfred a sharpie moustache) I just downloaded alpha5 so it's not an outdated issue lol
Maybe right-click on the folder>Properties, and then make sure that the "Hidden" box is unchecked? If that's already done, you could run Frosty as an admin or as a last idea, type the destination manually and see if it'll still register. (As you should; Manfred deserves a mustache just like his dad. ☺)
Does anyone know how to fix the "There was an error when trying to load game using specified profile" error? my game's on steam and i can't even start modding with this error.
I wish I had a solution, but I'm not sure what this error means and have never gotten it myself. I'll be sure to let you know if I find anything about it. Until then, I can only recommend the regular trouble-shooting tips like running Frosty as an administrator, deleting your mod data folder, and making sure you drivers are updated/restart PC.
Hmm. Are you positive that you're using the newest version of FMM from the link I gave? And also extracting the download first? Too, you may want to double-check that your game path is correct.
This looks super easy to get going which i am excited about, however I cannot for the life of me get FMM to launch at all, I've tried just about everything I can think of myself including running it as administrator but nothing seems to be helping, any advice?
Hmm. Running as an admin would be my first response too, so if you've already tried that, maybe you can answer some questions for me (sorry if they seem pretty obvious, but I just want to double check): 1. Did you extract the zipped folder you downloaded from Github before trying to run the Mod Manager? 2. When you double-click on the FMM application, does nothing happen at all or does it look like it's trying to run but then failing? (Like a blank window or a loading icon wheel, etc.) 3. Have you tried the baseline trouble-shooting strategies like updating your drivers and restarting your PC?
@@PosiCobra so updating my drivers was a good call but unfortunately it didnt help and i did extract the files as well; it looks like it tries to launch, my mouse icon gets a loading icon wheel but then nothing happens
Just to make sure since I've seen some people in the Nexus having issues, you got the mod manager, not the editor, right? FMM is the second item on the list of downloads.
@@Jaye-i3c Dang. This might just stump me, but I don’t want to give up yet! Have you tried it with anti-virus software turned off? (Also, just curious: have you ever used an older version of Frosty to mod any other game?)
Lovely tutorial. great speed, didn't make me impatient and btw what a lovely clear voice you have, easy to follow as the title states. However I am running into one issue, and I'm hopting someone else may have found a fix for it. Everything seems to be working fine, I hit the launch button and steam asks for permission to open with these new modifications. after that however it stops, the game says "running" and the play button on steam does change to blue with the "stop" sign instead, after a few seconds this reverts back and I see nothing. Any help would be appreciated, So far the things I have tried is: deactivate firewall/anitvirus and launch Activate firewall/antivirus and launch Close down/Exit steam and launch remove all mods except one and launch open FrostyMM as admin

i had the same exact problem. what fixed it for me is deleting the ModData folder in the folder where you have the game installed, after that it started to work. hope that helps!
Not sure if anyone's had this problem, but having the game on my SSD stopped frosty from launching it no matter what. I moved the game to a different storage, works now.
Did you delete your ModData folder (I give a more detailed explanation in the pinned comment)? If you did that already, you could try opening the EA app and then minimizing it before launching through Frosty and/or running Frosty as an administrator.
@@PosiCobra yeah it turned out that was the issue. I seen the the explanation but didn't think that would apply to me because I never had one to begin with. so i deleted and it started to work.
Since Patch 4/5 dropped, you may be prompted to update Frosty. Just follow these new steps!:
(And if you were already modding with the old version of Frosty and want to download the same mods you were using before, you can easily relocate them by clicking your account icon on Nexus>Download History.)
Please remember that in the early days of modding a new game, things can be a little unpredictable and get updated rapidly. I’ll always get this new information out to y’all as soon as I’m able! 💚

@@tirissotheios9821 Most of the comments here have a reply from me. I'll leave some troubleshooting ideas on the OP's comment.
Here are some other troubleshooting steps that might work:

5. You haven't read the original comment. It's ALREADY on admin rights. This time avast wall is deactivated. Nope. Same
6. The settings from the game's graphics remain the same as the se conf time I launched it. You're reaching.
7. WTF are you on about? It's win95 to make setups all over again! What;s next? windows reinstalation or even format the drtives?

Either way works for me! 🤗But really, thank you for the compliment.
@@PosiCobra I found out why we need the key.
Basically EA protecting it's assets from being stolen.
Old version will not work because of that.

I'll let you know if I find something else!
do u have licensed game?
This is great news! Thanks for letting me know! I'll make sure to add it to my list of troubleshooting tips when people run into an issue.
Anyone else running into the specified profile when selecting the game?
Did you end up figuring it out?
This was super helpful - I don't suppose you have any advice for when FMM says the game is launching, and minimises like it's going to launch, but then nothing happens? I've tried google and reddit but nothing has sorted it :(
Anything else aside, this was such a helpful video, there wasn't any faff or nonsense, it was just useful, helpful information, shown clearly, so thank you for that - I normally avoid video tutorials because they're 30 minutes of nonsense along with maybe 3 minutes of actual helpful information, but this was really refreshing, so thank you!
Thank you! I'm glad it was mostly helpful. ☺
You may have tried some of these troubleshooting steps already, but here's what I would recommend for the launch issue:
Thank you! Subbed

@PosiCobra yup, deleted the one in the game's root folder. So, it goes like this: frosty applies the mods, steam gets opened, a popup
@@Yverune It definitely is strange! Maybe you could try decreasing your anti-virus settings to see if something there is blocking it?

Are you opening the game before hitting "Next" in Frosty?
I've figured it out 😅 I forgot to run Frosty as administrator, so when I ran the game, the first process automatically failed.

@@alinajustme11 To be honest I'm not 100% sure what fixed it but here's what I did:
-I deleted the ModData folder in the Veilguard directory before trying to run the Mod Manager
-I made sure to run the Mod Manager as administrator
-I made sure to have only one mod active, just to check if it worked (in my case it was the mod to hide the Lyrium dagger), I haven't yet tried adding more mods at the same time
Hope any of this helps you, this whole process definitely hasn't been smooth for me lol
Glad you figured it out!
thanks - that helped me very much!
I have a some questions and suggestions to get us started:
4. I'm not sure if getting the game from one place and running through another is causing the issue, but you might just want to verify that your game location path is set correctly (and that you don't somehow have two copies of the game in two places... weirdly enough, that happened to me once, and now I'm paranoid about it!)
Hopefully it solves your issue. github.com/wavebend/FrostyToolsuite/releases

thank you so so so much !!!!
@PosiCobra I figured it out! It wasn't loading data to add to FMM. I just deleted the cache and readded the game. Thank you! :)
Anyone elses frosty manager stop working? Mine wont lanuch the game Ive tried every fix Ive read and nothing works.
But it did work at first?
@PosiCobra for DAV it has never worked. Only works for DAI. Ive even tried running both DAV and mod manager with under admin and nothing seems to work.
@PosiCobra For DAV it has never worked. Only works for DAI. I've even tried to run both as admins and nothing seems to work.
I've also seen a few people mention that they had to revert their graphics settings to get things to work more smoothly if you made any optimization changes (probably do the same for Steam too).
hi! love this video, it was super helpful, i was wondering if you could do a swap library tutorial?

No problem! I'm not sure what is causing that error, but here are a few of my standard trouble-shooting tips that could possibly fix it:
I don´t know why but it doesn´t work for me. I enter the Encription Key and an error pops up. After that Frosty is closing.
Do you happen to have Grammarly? Some people are saying that its auto-"correcting" the key for them, which is causing the error.
@PosiCobra Thank you. I will Check it out!
Encryption Key can't be found anymore. The link he put seems deleted. I need it asap pls
There's a new link in the description now.
Heelp ! Thanks for the video but the link of the encryption didnt work anymore :(
Thanks for letting me know! There's a new link in the description now.
it looks like the encryption key link is broken, where would i find a new one?
I found it in the comments on a mod page, so there's a new link in the description now.
Thank you so much for this helpful video!
My game won't lauch from Frosty after I clic continue on the Steam pop up. What do I do?
Did you delete your ModData folder?
Hi I am still having issues with the encryption key and I copied / pasted it. I have no idea what I am doing wrong i have used Frosty before with no issues and now I can't get it to work.
@@penguinmama705 Do you have Grammarly? Some people have reported that it is accidentally auto-“correcting” the key.
@@PosiCobra I don't think i do
@@penguinmama705 Okay. Would you mind telling me what error message or anything else you're seeing after you put in the key?

The issue I'm having is that it doesn't go past the encryption key. I input it, hit done, and it locks up, but it never moves past that point. Does anyone have any ideas?
Just double-checking: do you have Grammarly? That has been auto-"correcting" the key for some people and messing things up.

If it's just a popup from Mediafire, you can typically close out of that, and it will still download, but if not, you could try accessing the link and downloading from an private window or maybe lower your security settings in your browser (it seems like it might be firewall interference).

Hmm. I've never seen that before! Did you try deleting your ModData folder?
@PosiCobra yup, same issue. It says "acces denied to path Program Files/EA Games/Dragon Age The Veilguard/ModData/Default". I also tried running Frosty as admin and re installing it, didn't work either because of the same problem.
@@vanessab.s2596 The only other thing I can think of is to make sure that ModData/Default folder isn't marked as "Read Only" under Properties.

What does the error say? And also, did you double-check that the path is correct, and with no typos?

This looks super easy to get going which i am excited about, however I cannot for the life of me get FMM to launch at all, I've tried just about everything I can think of myself including running it as administrator but nothing seems to be helping, any advice?
Hmm. Running as an admin would be my first response too, so if you've already tried that, maybe you can answer some questions for me (sorry if they seem pretty obvious, but I just want to double check):
1. Did you extract the zipped folder you downloaded from Github before trying to run the Mod Manager?
2. When you double-click on the FMM application, does nothing happen at all or does it look like it's trying to run but then failing? (Like a blank window or a loading icon wheel, etc.)
