Would you be interested in a dual-screen smartphone?
Edit / Additional details: Over a few iterations of design, the bezel and hinge could be shrunk down. The secondary screen would have a small metal bezel with shock absorption foam to help increase durability. This screen could be made very easily replaceable. This concept was inspired by the phones used in HBO’s West World. This phone would have amazing applications in AR as it can have the display active while the liquid crystal is transparent. Finally, when the 2nd screen is closed, there could be potential for using the 2nd screen and primary screen in a 3D viewing format.
Seems pretty cool to me although the videos of clear screens I have seen so far are not nearly to the level of a production product
Great idea
The dual-screen design is a better design compare to foldable screen, but it maybe more easier to break when it is fallen.
Whats about the new Samsung Foldable ? It now has flexible glass on top
It's cool tech, but all the stuff that needs to work properly seems ripe for failure. Now where are those hologram phones?!
Awesome video man. Your concept phone is way cool. When you get it built, send it on over and ill 'test' it out ;-)
Thanks JRE! I appreaciate it! For one, it will use actual hardened glass. Also a cylindrical hinge is fairly straight forward in it’s ability to keep out dust. As for a drop test when it is opened, I’m not sure how it will fare, but it’s worth a shot. If one of the companies makes a dual screen phone using a transparent AMOLED display with a liquid crystal layer, I’ll make sure they send one over.
Oh JRE sir love you. 😍
idont think its an good idea 🤣
Why would he want his dream phone rigged apart.
Just kidding man you are great.
Hello there
Applaud the amount of effort you put into making these videos. Creating each part, animating, rendering, narrating, seriously impressive. Please keep it up!
I think it's a great idea but it secondary screen may not last long and most like continuity on screen not like cut in middle
Your concept was really great. I had also thought of something like this, but I didn't have even the slightest idea that an LCD screen can be made opaque electrically. That would be an amazing thing to actually control the overall screen transparency.
Brilliant to say the least.
Your design is far superior. My primary engineering philosophy is: "It if moves its going to break." So a "foldable" screen is just a screen that is just waiting to break. Your design could, with care last a lifetime. Anyone that has bent a piece of metal back and fourth enough to break knows that anything hard with a crystal structure will break. Anyone that has tried to unfold plastic that has been creased know that you aren't staying inside of its plastic limit.
Your models are immersive, thoroughly thought out & fascinating
I appreciate your hard work.
Well Done.
Very easy to understand. Hope for more videos
Outstanding video… very instructional.
I'm wondering , you have a great awesome and talented team , modeling every single piece is not easy at all youre doin a great job thank you!
You are doing a great job, keep going 👊🏻
I like this video. Very informative, I like how you broke down all the parts of these new foldable phones. Looking forward to new iterations.
Your concept is amazing, I believe some company should start working on that. Thankyou for making such videos.
Great idea buddy!!!🤩🤩
I'm impressed. Your design is really good
Your foldable smartphone concept is genious. Because even if the second screen eventually breaks, it worked at all as protection for the main screen. And its maybe very easy to replace. I just LOVE it!
I think we should get you in contact with someone at samsung
I think they don't care.
Oh so smart and clever but who needs this?! Thanks for sharing, your videos are awesome.
Your concept is awesome.
Your concept is really smart
Your concept is great
brilliant work of channel creator. you deserve millions of viewers.
awesome concept
The concept is innovative, but the phone design is very outdated for me But, this is the greatest educational channel in explaining how the device works! You literally dive inside the device just to understand it.
Very nice concept 👌👌👌👌👌
video was most understanding about the concept
You should patent your design, it's very inovative.
Thanks! I’ll consider it, but I’ll probably stick to just making RUclips videos.
@Branch Education your idea was similar to my but your is better when ifixt review it
@@BranchEducation oh man so kind you are 🥺
my suggestion is that the secondary screen should be on left because most of people are right handed
......... 😁😁😁😁😁
@@AkshayShukla. I was thinking the same
Great consept
Man!!!!! Your proposed design would definitely rock.
That's great 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Good concept
Great idea
I like your concept. Reminds me of the old flip and slide phones with full keyboards. I loved those phones.😁
Ur concept of the folded phone is pretty cool I would love to have that phone
So informative
My god your an absolute genius to design your way of a folding smartphone! wonder if anyone will make it one day because i might buy it
amazing video, great content. sadly not enough views for such a high quality content
i love the detail you put into your videos. can you do the LEP unit next? i bought one in a flashlight and its like a ray of solid daylight. im hoping they start using them in phones for their flashlight.
Very nice concept. I like it more than the folding phones on the market.
second one is awesome 👌👌 love this one ❤️❤️♥️
why don't you submit this design to some company to make it real
I love the new voice. Thank you for all the great work.
Samsung as a leading mobile company try to experiment the new thing and the customers want it accordingly so from my point of view your concept is not a eye catching concept for both the samsung and the customers, it already exists the concept of samsung is really different making phone completely tablet but not the ordinary foldable phones🙏
loved the video and the concept phone! You could make a prototype!
It's great. Just make sure when the second display is folded upon the first, that it is not to thick, because that would create a noticable distance betwean the surface and the pixels
Bro your concept phone ie from future🤯👍👍
wonderful idea, please keep developping.
Thank you, I will
The most interesting RUclips channel on RUclips. Big fan from France !
Thank you so much!!
Si tu le dit... M'enfin, il rêve, le type.
not bad your project, very nice and practice
Good idea
awesome technology
Vote it up, nice video clip, thank you for sharing it :)
Now that 5 generations have passed, waiting for the updated and how it evolved video !!
Awesome idea of secondary screen
Your design looks really good and I really appreciate the efforts you put on these videos but I don't think that the second screen has a high durability when it's too thin and mostly made of glass. However, you can use cover the phone using carbon fiber instead of metal and make the second screen as large as as the first screen which I think would make the phone more comfortable to use. Also, you should design two models, one for right-handed people and one for left-handed people as from my view, I think that it's not really comfortable for the right-handed users to use their right hand to surf web on a thin screen which can be easily broken using small force. This is my personal idea so don't judge me. P/s: Sorry if my English is too bad.
LG's dual display implementation is pretty good.
Brilliant
I like you concept super
It's quite innovative
nice working:)))
Perfect
Did you decide to do anything with your concept phone? I'd actually love to have one with that layout but made so when folded shut there are no protrusions, so including a recession for the folding screen and end caps to the hinge to make it flush.
the Huawei mate X styled design application seems much more appealing than 2 screens. ofc the design you propose is ingenious indeed but i would prefer one single screen block as versus multiple split screens.
Awesome
I really like your concept.
My critique would be a darker "normally closed" main screen, as most of a regular user time would be with a folded phone.
You could have an option of folding the screen to the back, or just having another screen on the back (but that would be more expensive).
Difficult to use Secondary screen in gaming as a barrier comes in middle.
Love from India
PUBG:- controls and map in Primary display and game running on secondary display.
In Samsung's design you would cover bigger area rather division.
@@jayantamahata3269 but a slight over pressure and screen breaks. And add there is no glass so fingers won't slide thereby hindering gaming.
It could be played da style (controls and a info screen on bottom and main game on top)
Inspitational vid! Samsung needs to employ this guy
The transparent screen could be used to add extra color depth to the main screen by lighting it up while transparent; or if it's not flush enough against the main screen, then it could be used to produce something along the lines of a tensor lightfield screen, real holographic display where you see a different image depending on the angle and distance from the screen.
This is a very cool mobile you made
Too interesting application......😁
Your concept is very good. I think that you can integrate a smartphone keyboard also.
dude that setup is far more better than galaxy fold u r genius ❤❤❤❤😍😍
BEST RUclipsR
more, more!
Hold on. So you’re saying all those bullshit see through movie/tv future phones, CAN actually be a thing?
Yeah, they have transparent screens out right now.
But the AMOLED layer has hardware that's not transparent, motherboard, battery cameras... are not transparent. You're not gonna put them off to the side just so you can see though the your phone, then you'll have something with the bezels of a 1st gen TV.
Yep But Were Only Trying It On Phones Currently P.S It Wasted Enrgy
It would be more feasible to make a transparent TV or a window that's actually a screen.
Transparent displays sound great in theory but are terrible in practice, mostly due to things like contrast and readability.
This is a great idea but it should be cost effective too.. nice thinking 😀👌
It should be durable too. Because in case it slip from some certain height the secondary screen could shatter...
Great
Wowb...your idea was amazing
Please apply for patten
Nice
Nice phone!I wana this
I would actually enjoy this type of phone very much, I hope this design (or something similar) gets to the mainstream market
Super interesting Video as usual but to be honest, I think your design is more like an advaned flipphone insted of a bendable phone (as you kind of hinted at (3:36). Still cool though!
I like both concepts. I must say that for me I think that the folding screen is the most exciting innovation in the sector since the original iPhone. I will wait for the tech junkies to pay for the development and perform the beta testing and then you won’t be able to hold me back. The razr style is beautiful.
Your concept would have made the Microsoft phone a multitasking world beater.
Nice idea but when we are using this in a folded way.. its touch latency will be much higher than before which may affects its performance.
Your design is really smart, it would be like a PC running on 2 Monitors, but in your pocket
Dude, you've invented the Microsoft Surface Duo! Nice work! 👌
Kinda. I think the big difference is that when it is closed, the 2nd screen is transparent, and it operates as a normal smartphone. It’s important when adding a big change that users have the ability to go back to what they were used to. This is one element the samsung fold got right, in the idea of having a 3rd screen on the outside.
Cool concept.. just to make it cool, if the secondary screen br made semi-opeque I think it will be super cool. Considering that the opacity is electrically controlled, I'm assuming the electricity may be varied to control opacity? Not so sure if that's possible but if it is, I hope to see it work one day. Overall, your videos are of outstanding quality.
That would work
Great idea but just uncomfortable to use once secondary screen is open. The hinge should be smaller and slick. Maybe make the top and bottom bezelless on secondary screen. How about a different hinge system, maybe a 180 twist to open (similar to nokia 7705). I would love to see a prototype of your phone.
I really liked your concept. If it's technically possible too make such a foldable phone then it would be nice. The slim secondary screen would make the phone less heavier compared to the current ones.
Can we do magnetic screens that attach? Like how the apple charger attaches or the apple pen attached to the ipad?
The additional screens open up and attach magnetically together. This would look seamless and can allow for say 2 people to connect their phones together and watch on a bigger screen.
Need more cntnt .....bt topic is Massss
Osm❤️❤️❤️
If I was the decision maker, I would definitely implement your idea & that's really cool. I liked your concept. 10 X better than galaxy fold
Wow, you made me think why we have never tried it. I like the the idea, but do you think it will be save from fall?. Since it is thin and it totally depends on hing efficiency. If the hing got week then it might cause damage to the secondary screen and even to the code.
can you please tell what material is used to make the foldable touch screen (touch sensor part). i think it won't be indium tin oxide because it is brittle. so what else have they used in samsung fold
You’re absolutely correct that ITO is brittle. There are some resources that speculate on conductive flexible wires, but to be honest- I don’t know as it is a trade secret.
If your concept is applied on any smartphone, then please remove this split screen option.
Your thought is most valuable then split screen to work two apps at the same time.
Lovely concept. True engineer 😍❤️
wow!
Hmmm... At first, I thought your design looked less cool but after you explained, it sounded way more useful!
Glad to hear that!
Would be cool to have a second screen that could be separated from the main one, you would be able to use it wirelessly to a degree but for real clise conection one could ...attavh on the side, just like the Nintendo switch. This screen would be attachable on the back too, where it could rest.
It would also be a great deal to avoid thefts and such, since you'd be able to send messages and use the second screen on the street while the real one would be secure in your pocket
Cool concept but having to use the main display through the second one will result in a parallax effect because the AMOLED will be farther away from the front glass, and there will be some internal reflection. It will feel like you're using a much older phone. I think it would just be better to flip the second display to the back. Also it would be sick to take advantage of the transparency features of your display design - augmented reality walking directions?
