  • How do 3-Way Light Switches Work? Also, let's look at 4-Way Switches, and Basic Light Switches!
    Check out www.pcbway.com/ for all kinds of PCBs, easy ordering, and quick delivery.
    Take a look at their PCB Assembly, for an inexpensive population of the components on your PCBs.
    We use light switches every day, and yet have you ever seen the inside of one? In this video we open up 3 types of light switches: the basic light switch, 3-Way light switches, and 4-Way light switches. We also explore how they can be wired together to turn on one or multiple lights.

    This was...far beyond what I expected. You could have gotten away with much, much less of an effort without any pushback. Instead, we are left with this...
    An absolutely beautiful, visually pleasing, simple yet concise explanations which work hand in hand with the animations to bring us an intuitive, entry-level walk-through of the light engineering
    I'm honestly awe-struck. I can confidently say your videos are easily one of the best videos on youtube I have yet had the privilege to enjoy here on RUclips. (and I watch nothing but science and physics docs on RUclips etc)
    What an absolutely superb masterpiece, what an incredibly engaging tool that undoubtedly will benefit thousands and thousands of inquisitive minds.
    Thank you so much for this labor of love. It truly shows your passion for your field, and hoo boy what a treat the whole video was. It is insanely rare that animations, live explanations, and facts all come together so brilliant and organically organized in such a way that the end product comes together to create something much, much greater than each part on it's own.
    What an honor.
    it would be better if you make a video on how CPU/LED screen manufactured.

    Love the hanging fixtures over the stairs. I think you mentioned pointing out inaccuracies was welcomed so...the ground wire on the switch wraps the wrong way. It should be clockwise so when tightened the wire stays in contact with the screw. That screw is always green. Commercial grade switches have a clamp! No wrapping.

    In the U.K. they are known s 2-Way switching. Any more than 2 switches, ie, along a corridor, is known as 2-way and intermediate switching. (All switches have two states.)
    3-way switching is more commonly known as "Manual-Off-Auto" switches. They would be used to switch between timeclocks and manual operations.

      The circuit shown in essence IS a mechanical XOR gate.

    • @ncolyer
      @ncolyer 2 года назад +1

      @@nkronert yeah but i mean a non-mechanical one

    • @nkronert
      @nkronert 2 года назад +1

      @@ncolyer Fair enough - take an XOR logic gate, connect each of the switches (can be two way switches) to one of the inputs of the gate (the other contact of the switches is connected to ground, each input is also connected to the gate's power supply through a pullup resistor) and the output of the gate to a relay (basically another switch :-)). Relay and logic gate IC also need a suitable power supply. So, basically the mechanical switch construction is less complex, probably more reliable, and it doesn't use any power when the light is off, but otherwise - yes, it would work.

    I have gotten a good shock from sticking things inside outlets as a kid, I also spat in them before, got my lip nice and swollen from the high voltage damaging the tissue inside my lips. A real fun one was when I used a wet power tool and couldn't let go of it, so I started spinning my arm until the tool was forced out of my arm by the momentum. I have had my fair share of high voltage. It could probably have killed me if it had a diffrent path to ground then it did. funny enough, An electric fence actually hurt a lot more than getting zapped by 120 volts, mainly because I was holding a galvanized steel fence with one hand and touched the fence with the other, running the voltage across my heart. I felt rather messed up for a few minutes. In any case I wouldn't recommend it
