I am South African from the Zulu tribe but I also speak Sesotho fluently, I heard everything you said moGirl. 🤣😂🤣 Namibia here I come🏃🏃🏃🏃
Chief Zambia
It's widely spoken in Western Zambia in the region formerly known as Barotseland and I think basothos call us barotses rather than malozi
@@Al-tj2sdI did some research, apparently you guys moved up north from the Free State area (SA) during the Difaqane war....how interesting!!!!!
@@Al-tj2sdYou are basically our People who escaped....now I can't wait to go to Zambia honestly!
I'm from South Africa and my dad has done research on how similar our languages are 😭 I'm so excited to show him this so he can hear for himself
MissStoneyJ oh wow... please give me feedback after he has seen it💜💜💜
As Mosotho or Sesotho speaking person from South Africa, Balozi are people that I'll never struggle speaking to ,when l arrive in Zambia. Silozi is so similar to Sesotho
Yes barotse(balozi) are actually children of Basotho.
I'm from South Africa & so HAPPY to find out that there is a SIMILAR LANGUAGE LIKE KELOBEDU IN ZAMBIA. WE R ONE PEOPLE BALOBEDU WE ALSO CALL OURSELVES BALOZWI & RE ABA KELOZWI.
I CANT WAIT TO VISIT ZAMBIA & INTERACT WITH MY PEOPLE
Sounds like a Hybrid between Setswana and Sesotho with a Spice of Tsonga.
Very interesting to hear.
I'd say a spice of venda
There's more Sotho than Tswana in it. First heard it in Katima Mulilo.
It is a direct derivative of Sotho, read the history I wrote above
@@thatota2 I picked up an afrikaans word as well. Potloot/pencil. She pronouncing it 'potoloto'.
Wa eza hande musizani ndate. You make us proudly Silozi. Kozo.
Luitumezi😊
Wow I find you, girl you are trending in South Africa.
Wow my fellow Zambian expressing her self in Lozi I like the way she is speaking, so deep and meaningful 🇿🇲🇿🇦
Bathong😍 I understood everything and I am half Tswana and Sotho from South Africa 🇿🇦
Lerato we pronounce it as lilato meaning love am lozi by tribe
@@skchiyez5020 yes Lerato is love in Sesotho en Setswana in South Africa I am Sotho
@@skchiyez5020 how do you pronounce Paballo? It means care (if you ask someone who doesn't know deep Sesotho they will say it means protection)
I'm South African and I understand your language clearly!😂
Thank you Fam!!!!
😂🤣😂 me too this is so interesting even the accent is ours
I know some of you ladies think she is doing make-up ka skwerekwere NO! Listen closely she speaking our south African language I'm proud to hear It in a new version
This is very intriguing, the fact that I don't need subtitles.
I am going to be researching Lozi the whole day tomorrow. 🤞🏾
Tumisang Moumakoe All the best with the research... Tiny bit in the description
No need, I wrote the history for you above
Mosotho from South Africa🇿🇦 I'm amazed just learned today that Silozi is similar to Sesotho and Setswana wow 👏
I've never been so proud of "my" language 😂 fascinating
As a South African, I understood everything...even though it isn't my language 💓💓💓love this.
Amazing how Silozi words can be so familiar . . . I'm Zulu with a limited SeTswana / Sotho / Sepedi vocab - but still understood her.
Basotho, ke eo ngwetsi yalona! Likgomo

Bathong??? Shem we are One! Shlozi sounds like Setswana, Sesotho/ Sepedi with a different accent ♥️🙌🏾
More like Selobedu
Balozi are children of Basotho,Basotho are children of Batswana, bapedi are children of Batswana as well.
@@givenmathabathe4694 selobedu is more related to Shona but these languages are very closely related,Tshivenda,Xitsonga and Sothotswana.
Here and there some words link to other languages because of intermingling.
Never Lobedu is related to venda not shona,I'm lobedu myself. I can't understand Shona at all but I can relate to venda.
@@Sidehustleonline we are related to Sepedi and Venda
I love love your language. I speak sesotho and your language is like mine. just a different accent.
Thank you💜
And I love your language.xx
My heart is so full right now😭😭😭❤️❤️ I feel so included now and idk why😂 Maybe it's because I now know we have other countries that speak the same languages as us in SA, Botswana, and Lesotho 🥺🥺 I'm so happy ❤
This language sound exactly like selobedu.
Exactly.
@@MatomeQuestMoremi Even Sotho-Tswana languages.
Exactly
In fact, even how it's called Silozi reminded me of selobedu as a pedi man
Exactly
Wow this language actually is Sesotho 😳
Yes, They are family languages, I guess. Thank you!
@@davidmak741 From my understanding Basotho people don't originate from Barotseland. A group of them (the Kololo) migrated to the Barotseland because of the clashes they had with the Zulu people. So the reason Silozi sounds like Sesotho is because the Sotho people (the Kololo) brought their language to the region after they had conquered the people of Barotseland. They were later overthrown, but the influence of the language remained.
I think It's a dialect of old Sesotho before Sesotho adopted clicks, Xhosa and Zulu words.
@@kgothatsomoiloa1784 That's exactly what I'm thinking
@@davidmak741 That's why the Selobedu language in Limpopo its called Serotse or silozwi
We are Bantu, One love from South Africa....

I enjoy watching Silozi as a South African Mosotho, your language is similar to SeSotho, I like it.
Oh wow... Thank you for taking time to watch my video. I do appreciate.
*I guess we are Bantu family
🤗🤗🤗
Lozi people migrated from Lesotho during the difaqane wars and settled in Zambia that's why the languages are so similar
@@rantsotimohlophehi8010 I did not know that!!! Thank you so much!
@@rantsotimohlophehi8010 Bafokeng Sotho-Tswana people migrated from the area of the current day Free State, not Lesotho. There was no Lesotho then. To present day Zambia where they conquered the Luyana people. They weren't Lozi at this point. Lozi came later.
@@rantsotimohlophehi8010 wrong! The Patsa clan of the Bafokeng Kololo ran from South Africa until they reached Western Zambia, where they conquered the local Luyi from the Luba Lunda Empire of DRC. The Kololo imposed their language on the Luyi and hence we have Lozi.
I just recently found out about your language and I'm understanding most of the words you're saying
and I'm from south Africa and ke Motswana ❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I’m a Setswana speaker but I’m outchere getting it

But potoloto sound more like borrowed name from Afrikaans , podloot
In Sesotho we say Petloloto
Potoloto is from Afrikaans word podloot meaning pencil.

Here for the beautiful language.
I'm Sotho from South Africa and this pretty much sounds like my mother tongue
Thank you for watching!!!!
Lozi's are descendants of the South Sotho who defeated the Luyana people (The Sotho's are the ones who named "Mosi-oa-Tunya" ie Victoria Falls as they crossed the Zambezi river before the arrival of David Livingstone...
@@deladyMYou know I was watching a documentary that said Victoria Falls is Mosi-oa-tunya,..because I am Sotho, I was like ok how??? Then I searched RUclips! Thanks for that info!!!! I'm so intrigued...
Funny how most SAs are only now getting to know that our languages are similar when we(lozis) have known this like forever
David Sikota That’s 💯...
So you guys have always known this??
It's really sad....they don't teach our history at schools guys, it's rather sad. Most of us don't know our history, we are finding out things on our own as we grow.
