Am I the only one watching this who is mesmerized by Patti’s twist - that she is, in fact, “...no longer...” helpless? She is able to completely transform the ending with a handful of words. A Master amoung masters.
Patti kinda took over. That was cool. I know she toured w/him. Saw that tour. Think she's talking about her kids running...whose dreams are far much greater than her own... Her bands singing too. Can hear Neil Young at the end saying "aww I didn't expect you to do that" (?). Poet. The PSG do a great cover of "Helpless" on their record "Twelve". All covers.
I've always liked Neil and Dylan, although that was my father's time. I'd never paid any attention to Patti Smith, but this is the best version to me. BTW, I am assuming she came up with this on the fly like many good artists can.
Neil Young - einer der Helden meiner Jugend. Auf das Lied Helpless bin ich aufmerksam geworden durch den Film " Blutige Erdbeeren " , der in den Kinos der DDR lief.......

Patti takes it to another awesome place.

Your so lucky !! How could you not ....she really takes it to an amazing place.

I wonder if Patti Smith's solo was rehearsed or ad lib?
It sounded as if it were from one of her poems, maybe about Fred.
The Patti Smith Group recorded this song on their record "12". She performed it live many times. She was ready for it.
You can hear neil say to her that he didn't know she was going to do that at the end of the video.
@@jojosdarkbar2594 heard it, thanks. Do you know who the black lady is?
❤️
very nice
He should of thanked Patti at the end ..least he could do, C'mon Neil step up too.
If you listen close at the end Neil says "I didn't know you were going to do that."
Puedes Traducir lo que, Canta Smith From the Sky.

Who was the woman yanked away from clapping and kissing Neil?
Wtf isn't that David Bowie with his 90s band too?!
I thought I was the only one who pick them up :)
Yes, it's Bowie with Gail Ann Dorsey and Reeves Gabrels.
Anybody know what year this was recorded?!
Deducing from haircut of David Bowie who is singing as back vocal is second half of 1996 or first half of 1997.
