Maldives
@@jribe He said that they will explore the spirituality part of some character.
After watching series 1 I was afraid series 2 wouldn't be as good, it was even better. And yes, I bingewatched. I didn't want it to end. Can't wait for series 3.
I could not stop giggling at Tanya’s line where she said “Is greg having an affair?” after shooting up so many dudes that was still her only concern. Classic!! 😂
yesss lol hahahahahahahahhahahahahha
Me to! I laughed and reminded it so much. It was hilarious. Then I laughed and almost cried when she died. I'll miss her character!
@@cardoclarke2494 I was sad when she died. I will miss her.
😂😂😂 lol omg I know! That was so funny!
Oh Tanya 🤣
I’m so sad that Jennifer Coolidge won’t be in season 3😭 she’s an icon but it was an iconic send off
BOnk
She’s hilarious. And so lovable. Very talented, charismatic lady.
I’m hoping they just let season 3 happen in between 1&2 so we still get Jennifer 😭
Maybe it will be a prequel with Tanya on holiday with her mother!
Maybe a twin sister or a flashback.
This show overall is incredible and reinvented Jennifer Coolidge
It didn’t reinvent her, it brought her lovable characteristics and essence back to the screen
Exactly she’s just being her great self no reinvention needed.
@@holygrapieI've never seen her in such a serious and thrilling scene like the shoot out. She has way more range than just playing herself.
???
Have you ever seen Jennifer Coolidge in anything before?
She's very much in her wheelhouse in the role of Tanya McQuoid.
I lover her but she was just playing the same character from Best in Show and Legally Blonde.
Mike White has BALLS, he thinks about what's best for the story no matter how unsatisfying it may seem or how much he and the audience loves the actors. I was shocked at how good this season was after an already great season 1
Thank you, Mike White, for your excellent writing and actors. The long look on Daphanie's face when Ethan told her that he thought Cameron and Harper did something was great. I love her statement about not choosing to be a victim.
This!!!! That moment was so… intense and interesting. Love this show so much and devastated I need to wait such a while for the next season 😭😬
When she talks about the Trainer and shows a pic of her babies instead 😮😅
@@ldgfootage she was insinuating that, the blond hair blue-eyed child was the trainer's child. Alot people didn't catch that.
@@Tangogold1968 Oh wow conspiracy. I've always thought the 'trainer' is a 'trainer of mind'. She was implicating that she chose to focus her love on her children
It is amazing how despite that fact that he wrote these characters he talks about them like he doesn't fully know them. You can tell how much he loves reality tv. So great.
It's not atypical though. Real writers explorer their characters as if they were real people full of mysteries, not some plot device stand-in or caricature mockup. Stephen King also mentions that he doesn't really know how his characters will end up before finishing a book, he basically let them be however they need to be to feel real and interesting, and he relishes in the process of finding out. I think it's just part of treating your own creations with respect, instead of contempt.
@@zxbc1i love this!
"...Dies this derpy death!" Oh my god that's just perfection!!!
This was a perfect season of tv. You rarely see a shows characters be so engrossing where you constantly shift stances. Porsche and Albie being two sides of the same coin was a genuinely interesting arc.
*Portia
@@AmritBedi47 Did that make you feel better?
@@m.c4210 you bet
@@AmritBedi47 imagine butchering Porsche and naming someone “Portia”
@@Cleon851 Imagine being so ignorant you don't even know the origins of the name Portia.
Incredible season! Season 1 was amazing but this Season 2 leveled it up even more. Every week having to wait for the new episode to see what happens next was tough! Such great writing, cinematography, editing, sound editing, music and incredible casting this season. Mike White is at the top of his game.
Completely feel the same. Season 2 was MENTAL, I did like the first one but I mean they just exploded the quality for the second !
Totally! I stumbled appon the second season by accident and couldn't stop! Waiting for the next episode every weekend gave me something to look forward to making Sundays less dreadful lol But also made the show feel a bit more realistic like the time at the resort or somthing idk!
Am I the only one who thought there weren't enough twists or revelations in this eoisode..and maybe more revelations with the four couples especially?
Loved the ending, but will miss Tanya's character. She was the comic relief which binded the show in both seasons and gave it the quirkiness that merges well with the quirky music.
Nobody ever expected we'd get this masterpiece from Ned Schneebly.
Mike White wrote School of Rock as well!
@@aibmedia and Nacho Libre!
I never expected it from Buck O'Brien. That character is seared into my memory.
actually....it's Schnéblé
Tanya ( Jennifer Coolidge ) finally got her only/ last immersive experience! 😢 just as tragic as the opera. Needless to say Greg was the straight guy that Quintin fell in love with all those many years ago. The only man he every loved. Remember when he said “I’d do anything for him” he wasn’t lying.
Mike White is a genius of our generation!!! I'm so impressed with how many layers are going on, but in a very organized way!!! WL is FABULOUS!!!
I want to have coffee with him so bad and just explore his mind
Don't be silly
I get the feeling that super intelligent, modest bisexuals make great writers
Mike White, thank you for being a creative genius and sharing it with the world.
exactly my feelings!
This season was just so beautiful aesthetically with the scenery, locations and cinematography, love how the location really is a character in the show in both of the seasons
I predicted who would be murdered but didn’t predict Tanya’s essentially accidental death. But at the same time it seemed so in character for her. Tanya may have known how to wield a gun but she was still clumsy so unfortunately the risk she took to escape the yacht did not pay off. I loved the ambiguity of the Cam/Daphne, Harper/Ethan storylines. I loved how it’s hinted that Cameron knew his son isn’t actually his. There are still some questions left unanswered but overall I preferred S2 over S1.
how do they hint that Cameron knew his son isn’t actually his????
@@elizaheaton295 He seemed really annoyed when Daphne was facetiming the kids, and at the fact that they were asking for him, and there really wasn't any other reason for him to be annoyed. And, sure, it could be that he just didn't want to talk to them because he wasn't feeling up to it or whatever, but there's always a chance...
@@elizaheaton295 He also didn't want to face time the kid's in the first episodes along with what Loranna Aray said.
Pritom yeah the whole season he behaved like a lover of madame that has kids of her own, not a hint at fatherhood
@@SchnippSchnappShnappi Yes , he knows the kids aren't his but can't show that to Daphne
This show is soooo refreshing...
Mike White is great, he writes amazing characters, his directing is masterful and really understands human nature..
(Which is very RARE in current year Hollywood)
I am just obsessed with this show. Last nights finale was incredible. But PLEASE make the seasons longer than
just 6 or 7 episodes, that is way too short! And definitely going to miss Jennifer Coolidge, she truly WAS everything in it.
I'd say quality over quantity.
Agreed with the quality comment. If there were more episodes I feel like there'd be unnecessary fluff. It's better that he's leaving us wanting more. Believe me I also would like to see more, but he knows what he's doing with this show.
The point with 7 episodes is that they are on a one week vacation and every episode is a new day but I agree it should be more episodes!!
Exactly! 1 week/ 7 day vacation equals 7 episodes. But it’s so good I can watch a two week vacation with 14 episodes. 😂
Felt like this season could have been condensed into six episodes.
love this show and its multi-layered brilliance. i'm sad jennifer won't be in s3 though :(
The way Tanya pauses in horror to examine the kidnap kit items while looking for the gun is hilarious.
Mike White is a legend
What a amazing season, i loved every second of the finale, can't wait for season 3 !!
Now that's what I call writing. Maestro
Some of my favorite writing on a tv show ever. I can't believe how modern and relevant the dialogue is, while also being done in this satirical way that creates just enough distance to feel relatable without feeing like an indictment on the viewer. Just masterful stuff. Can't wait to watch the first two seasons a few times between now and season 3.
the ending made me fall in love with Jennifer Coolidge in a way I can't explain
I wish they interviewed Mike White for every episode instead of having the actors talking about their favorite drinks or whatever. Its such a rich and deep show so its always enlightening to hear the creator reveal stuff I may not have caught.
So glad I started watching this show. I'm glad they didn't cancel it as soon as I started to get into it. It's such a breath of fresh air. It has its messages, but it isn't heavy handed and it's very balanced. This is what is missing in Hollywood, just great writing. One writer/director is wise, but it's not trying to appease a group-think of writers. I don't want to read a book written by committee. I appreciate one vision, it's very cohesive. Another reason to tune into HBO on Sunday nights.
A beautiful show inside and out 👏🏾
She was my favorite character and her death is one of the best deaths in TV history. I was sad to see her go and yet so glad that it was this epic!
just binged season 2 last night and it was so good! Mike you really outdid yourself! the script and cast was so good! I couldn't stop watching. I was in my feels and emotions almost the entire series and had some serious good laughs. I really love this series and so excited to see more of your writing!! Huge fan
Fantastic second season. In some ways, even more engrossing than the first. The cinematography and storytelling was captivating throughout but the eery sense of tension and foreboding set here in the last episode was masterful TV. From the first couple of scenes, the score and the visuals give off this air of looming tragedy and danger and you're never quite sure where it's coming from, even after you've already pieced it together as a viewer. Right up to the moment where Tanya is pulling out the ropes and duct tape and gun from the bag, I still thought "maybe there's a reasonable subversive and comedic reason for him having those," and even after all the shooting I still felt as though the "woah, but what if she's wrong" would turn up and turn the incident on its head. Great writing and filming. Great characters. And looking back, there was so much foreshadowing for Tanya's final goodbye, from Greg's phone calls calling her clueless, to the story of the woman who threw herself off the cliff and into the water, to Tanya describing the ending to the Lady Butterfly play as "she dies".
Didn't want her to die, hoped she's won't even as her last air bubbles escaped her unconscious body as she floating in the water after she fell, but in all fairness her fate was sealed long before the last few episodes.
Amazing season. I was glued the entire time! Thanks a lot to Mr White and the whole team to make this happen, and I look forward for new TWL content in the future 😊
What a wonderful creation! I loved season 2. Each character is looking for love/relationship in their own individual ways. Each character understands and values relationships very differently. Beautifully portrayed.
Thank you so much for this incredible season, my heart rate was over 100
I’m still thinking about this finale. I loved Tanya’s character. She’s so wonderful.
This season was pure PERFECTION! Everything from the subtle themes to the plot to casting, music, everything... Bravo!
This show is my favorite dark comedy since "Fargo"
The cinemagraphy, music, casting, director, all of them are of high standard.
In addition, I hope that season3 can explain the change of Greg's role.
This is my kind of show.. I loved the first season and I miss Armond. But the second season was just..*chef's kiss*. It's exquisite. I will miss watching Jennifer Coolidge as tanya. The best part of white lotus is all the different journey of the characters and all of them intermingling with each other and slowly but surely coming to a head. By the last episode you are on the edge of you seat. Can't wait for the third season.
Tanya’s/Jennifer’s crying is my favorite 😂
I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN SHE KILLED THOSE GUYS! I THOUGHT SHE COULD MAKE IT! buti just laughed when she fell HAJSJAJSHS
When you realize Mike White was in School of ROCK!!! I already love this show so much but this was literally the cherry on top. Mike White has my full undivided attention (since season 1) but is even more, reinforced now!
Or the fellow playing Greg was in Napoleon Dynamite. 😅
@@toritori5835 SAME my Dad told me that the other day and it blew my mind too. The Cast(s) are just so well selected and deserve ever award they get.
Not only was he in it - he WROTE it!
If they’re going to Asia, my guess it’ll either be the Maldives, Bali or Thailand, maybe Seychelles. Bali would probably have the most comedic punch especially if you’re talking about New Age flakes, a la “Eat, Pray, Love”
Likely the Maldives, it was mentioned by Daphne in this most recent season ending. It appears to be the best hint in my opinion, & adding that the director was exploring Eastern religion, best guess is South Asia?
Wonderful. At home in chilly Scotland having had a two day White Lotus series binge. We woke today with an ache for more. Not enough people know about The White Lotus.
that was a GoT move with Tanya. I thought the series was going to centered around her. . . They should to a Couples Retreat with Aubrey Plaza, and the others next season at a new White Lotus location if they do another season.
I'm hoping that's the case too! I think there's a possibility, since Mike the 3rd season would be a satirical look at eastern religion, and at their final meal Daphne hinted at the couples visiting the Maldives together (South Asia). Fingers crossed!!!
Brilliant brilliant brilliant!! 👏👏👏👏👏 loved every minute of this season! 🏆
what an amazing season!! I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you
Unbelievable series. What a masterpiece! I enjoyed more season 2, and I thought season 1 was gonna be unbeatable
I'm hoping season 3 is a prequel that includes Tanya at a different location. Maybe there was someone spying on her there that ended up setting up the long con for Greg in season 1 and season 2. Can't wait for next season regardless. What an incredible show.
I hope the awards and accolades for season 2 will inspire Mike to craft a great story for Season 3. Belinda from Season 1 has been confirmed to return for Season 3
My First Prediction : Tanya leaves Belinda a windful in her will (possibly a video will, to get Jennifer back for a cameo). Belinda has been able to set up a business in Thailand.
My Second Prediction: Greg is laying low in Thailand, but is haunted by visions of Tanya stemming from his guilt. As this season is about death, a comedic haunting is another excuse to bring back Tanya !
Thank You Mike White, this was a fantastically entertaining season. Loved it. It was a bit of a slow burn but the final episode was incredible.
The love that I have for this show is endless!
I’ll watch anything Mike White puts out. Such a fantastic show. Obsessed!
Did you like Enlightened?
Even the emoji movie? 😅
I have so many mixed feelings about this season but Tanya's story arc taking center stage in the finale felt correct.
It was utterly brilliant. Congratulations!! 😊😊👌👌
Mike white king of suspense story relatable to any part of the viewers around the world. Each characters, location, costume, lighting, cinematography, editting, acting all raw . Values of different society varies with status. Poor peoples problem is different than rich people's problems. Loved the details. Ready to watch n number of seasons
Don’t stop,Mike White! Don’t stop! You are brilliant and lovable and we want more. Enlightenment was brilliant as well. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
This one was waaayyy much better than season 1. Congratulations!
thanks for the recap :) have a great day !
One of the most original shows I can think of in recent memory.
WOW WOW WOW season 2 completely exceeded my expectations! 👏👏👏 Great acting, great storylines, the overall dark/mysterious vibe, although would be very nice to know, what actually happened between Harper/Cam and Daphne/Ethan - I understand that ambiguity is the goal and they want viewers to make their own assumptions (mine is they all cheated :D ) but still :)
Thank you Mike White for such a great escape and entertainment!!
Mike white is amazing! Great work can’t wait for season 3!
I literally said, "Aww!" out loud when Tonya fell off the boat to her death. Unlike season 1, I did not see this death coming. Season 1 was ok... Season 2 was a masterpiece. I can't see how Season 3 can top Season 2, but I think it will be great. Probably in between 1 and 2 - which is still the best tv out there today.
WORK OF ART! SOOOO GOOOOD
Brilliant. Superb characters and so many sub plots.
Season 3… a prequel to Season 1 with the sublime Murray Bartlett once agin playing the manager. He was just exceptional!
1:21 this scene made me shudder, it was really shocking. Well done I guess, I'm gonna miss her.
Excellent season. Can’t wait for next year.
Oh really thought that Jennifer Coolidge is going to stay in The White Lotus for a while just like Jessica Lange in American Horror Story for 4 years. I absolutely love this show. It's peaking. Definitely better than the first season.
The guy's a genius writer. Can't wait for Season 3, can't wait👍😁
Can’t wait fit the next seasons, next year can’t come soon enough!
I’m so excited for season 3 !!
I cannot accept that Tanya is really dead😮. 😢
All I want is to see Jennifer again in the third season! 😘
Well hopefully at least we'll see Greg and all the riches
Great show and hooked instantly. Tanya dying is a shame but here’s hoping for a returning character to Season 3 and hopefully Greg gets his comeuppance
This series is brilliant. Cannot wait for season 3!
What a great show! Can't wait for the season 3.
Great writing and acting and directing❤
In one of the episodes- not sure which season- Tanya talks about a dream or a vision of being on a mountain top....somewhere in Asia, I think. For the show to come full circle it would be interesting for Tanya to have put orders in her will to have someone scatter her ashes there...maybe Greg...or Portia...or both. Belinda perhaps.
OMG yes, love this. Please bring back Belinda
Albie and Portia seriously deserve each other.
I hope to see Tanya in season 3 as a ghost frightening Greg and his lover
Can’t wait for season 3! Rewatching season 1 and 2 right now.
what an amazing show! thank you!
Amé mucho esta temporada. No podía ni dormir bien porque mi mente estaba maquilando teorías sobre el final de temporada. Gracias por tan buena serie.
"That's just so Tanya.." lol
I loved this season 😊 thank you Mike White - genius
Love your writing.
I admire Mike White's wicked sense of humor. East you say? Come to Bali for season 3🏖
SEASON 3: But what about Tanya’s TWIN SISTER! DUH DUH DAAAAH!
I wish I had the talent that it takes to write stories for books shows or film I just cannot understand how brilliant you have to be to write such good shows!
Season two was just amazing!!!! I don't know how season 3 can top that but I still faithful, as longer is as good as Season 2!
if ever this gets to season 5, i'd like to have it on one of the White Lotus hotels (of course) and a worldwide convention of White Lotus employees and we get to see Season 1 to 4 Managers, Receptionists, and others as the hotel guests for that season.
I had no idea that mike white was Ned schneebly from school of rock. It amazes me how some of these actors who haven’t had major roles or succeeded much in acting, become some of the best writers/storytellers around. Mike white, Lin Manuel Miranda to name a few. A true talent.
He wrote School of Rock!
@@amberhunter9541 wow I had no idea
NEVER STOP MIKE! SHOW'S AWESOME! YOU DESERVE THIS
Literally loved this season
Bravo! 👏
What an amazing season, this is.
I'm guessing Greg is going to be "finding spirituality" (whilst processing Tanya's death and his role in it, and perhaps doing psychedelics) in Japan in season 3?
Perfect ending 😊
One of the best series I've ever watched. S1 and S2 were both fantastic. I want a S3 and S4!
I refuse to believe Tanya is gone !
