  • Hello - and thank you for joining me to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the smash hit superhero movie Batman Forever - which exploded into movie theatres in 1995!
My goal with this fanedit was to present a cut of Forever that aligns more with director Joel Schumacher’s intended vision. By reinserting deleted scenes and alternate takes - as well as drastically restructuring the film to more accurately follow the shooting script by Akiva Goldsman - I believe that Forever can shine as a serious and darkly fascinating character study of the Caped Crusader - while still retaining the larger-than-life, ‘comic-book’ fun throughout, of course!
This fanedit uses the earlier Blu-ray transfer as - despite the bump in fidelity - the newer transfer that came bundled with the 4K release features some unsatisfactory colour timing/grading changes in my opinion. The deleted scenes/workprint footage were sourced from the same release, while alternate takes were primarily sourced from trailers & bonus material. The score uses excerpts from Eliot Goldenthal’s work on Alien³, Interview With the Vampire & Demolition Man, alongside the rare recording sessions for both Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. As well as Goldenthal’s score, an iconic theme from Danny Elfman’s work on Batman (1989) also makes an appearance.
For a more detailed breakdown of what’s new and different in this edit, please check out the changelog!
Batman Forever: 30th Anniversary Edition was cut, edited and assembled in Adobe Premiere Pro 2020, before being colour graded & visually overhauled with Dehancer in DaVinci Resolve. The ‘35mm’ version uses 35mm transfers of Batman Forever trailers as a visual reference. The ‘35mm’ version aims to replicate the visual flavour and aesthetic of these vintage film trailers in both colour choice and depth. Topaz Video Enhance AI has been used to upscale the aforementioned deleted scenes, while Eleven Labs voice AI cloning was used - in combination with real human voice acting - to fill in for missing dialogue takes.
I am not the first to put together a Batman Forever fanedit - and I certainly won’t be the last. So with that said, I must pay respect to the works that came before mine:
    • Batman Forever: Red Book Edition by Scaperat
    • Batman Forever: The Virtual Workprint by Josh Jensen
    • Batman Forever: Restored by Lucas Valcanti (luc4valcanti)
I would also like to thank luc4valcanti, Onyx_Tw, MinddKidzag, CutSchumacher, Neil Rickatson of 1995 Batman.com and burtonsgotham for their assistance on this project! This fanedit simply would not be possible without their support and contributions.
Until the fabled ‘Schumacher Cut’ is in our hands, I hope that this fanedit will bring joy to Batman fans around the world. #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut!
Courage now… truth always… BATMAN FOREVER!
    Yours,
    Jordan (jordanjabroni)

  • @VenusHeadTrap2

The underwater flash backs are amazing

Batman forever is almost a 1 for 1 adaptation of where the batman comics were at in the early to mid 90s. Very colorful, punkish, inspired by both 1930s pulp and 1980s Sci fi. I'm not saying its a great batman movie or anything but it's definitely not bad.

If only Michael Keaton and Tim Burton were still involved in the making of this movie. Plus, Billy Dee Williams should've been the one playing Two-face.

  • @thefonzkiss

If only we could edit Tommy Lee Jones out of the movie completely.

A steering wheel in a helicopter? Okay

  • @Buggy-su4oy

This has a better explanation of Harvey's behavior and also as a former district attorney he likely knew that it would be dangerous to try to kill a kingpin so even though Bruce did try to save him he probably thinks it is better to turn his anger to him and his warped mind likely thinks "you didn't save me fast enough."

  • @thebulldozer9198

That's a great edit. I've always wanted to see the darker version of this movie.

WB WHAT HAVE U GOT 2 LOSE?! RELEASE THE SCUMACHER DIRECTORS CUT!😮😅😊

  • @carlosnavarro9951

Beginning with this movie, they certainly turned the campyness up. With Batman&Robin, it was up to 11. Very smart move by Michael Keaton to leave the franchise when Tim Burton did.

I remember reading the novelization as a kid, and it covered a lot of the stuff that was edited out of the theatrical release, including "You're a killer too!" I recall wondering why it had been cut from the movie.

NGL man, what you have shown so far with this project I'm very much impressed and given that Batman Forever is one of my favorite movies that deserves a editor/director's cut to add back more of the psychological stuff from the first-two burton films it would be very nice to see what your take on the Schumacher cut will be like completed and if you decide to release it on Blu-ray I'll happily buy it~👍

  • @kevindavis296

Great editing on changing the voice of Batman when in the old of this deleted scene sounded like a teen boy

  • @REED1988

I still think this could have been an amazing movie if companies hadn't interfered.. let's be honest it was chopped up and messed around with for the sake of happy meals.... fyi I still think forever was an amazing movie.. was the first batman movie I saw in cinemas so nostalgia won't let me hate it, but it could have been so much more!
