BATMAN FOREVER: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION - 'Legacy' Trailer
Hello - and thank you for joining me to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the smash hit superhero movie Batman Forever - which exploded into movie theatres in 1995!
My goal with this fanedit was to present a cut of Forever that aligns more with director Joel Schumacher’s intended vision. By reinserting deleted scenes and alternate takes - as well as drastically restructuring the film to more accurately follow the shooting script by Akiva Goldsman - I believe that Forever can shine as a thoughtful, serious and darkly fascinating character study of the Caped Crusader - while still retaining the larger-than-life, ‘comic-book’ fun and twisted Saturday morning cartoon vibe throughout, of c...

Amazing trailer. I've been wanting to watch the Schumacher Cut for ages now. Can you telling us when are you going to upload the fan edit?

I want to see the Schumacher cut so bad now. Thank you
What a wonderfully edited trailer with awesome sound too. Really appreciate the hard work and effort you've put into your uploads for the film. I hope one day we can see the film as it was originally intended.
Can't wait!!
Love this trailer! Somehow over the years, a false narrative has developed that Batman Forever was a flop. I love how the first part of your trailer illustrates exactly how false that narrative is. I was seeing it in packed theaters, countless times in the summer of 95. It is and always will be my favorite Batman film and back then, critics and audiences loved it! Your work is fantastic..and I’ve subscribed. Thank you!
MAN I am so intrigued! Lets GOOOOOOOO!

Perfection.
Great trailer.
Great edit! The 'Thats my hearing aid' needs to be in there to make Batman's 'Thanks' to work. Otherwise the edit looks better than the original!
@@filmdirt Thanks for the kind words! We get the shot that clearly establishes that it's a hearing aid, so I don't think it's confusing as to what's happening. For me at least, it plays funnier with the guard just being like 'Hey!' - it gets rid of the goofy exposition line, it sells the panic of the guard better, it makes Batman's delivery snappier - it just comes off as funnier and better paced to me!
@@jordanjabroni Yeah I see what you mean, the HEY probably needs to be delayed so its closer to Batmans line, but I prefered the 1 goofy line he gets!
Hopefully we get something for the 30th anniversary
Giv3 us th3 Schumach3r Cut WB!! NOW!!!
Lose the voiceover
@@TruDis01 The voice over needs to be there for the audience to get what's written in the journal. The movie is building towards Bruce remembering the first half - 'Bruce wants to see a movie tonight' - for him to later discover that Thomas and Martha wanted to go out to see Zorro, whereas Bruce wanted to watch a cartoon at home. The workprint shown by Kevin Smith has Val Kilmer doing the voice over, but I felt it worked better having Thomas' voice seeing as, in this footage at least, Val isn't physically speaking the lines.
Good one. And can you add in Elfman's work too, including the one for Beetlejuice?
@@evanzaremba4722 No. I adore the Goldenthal score & I have tried to embolden it with unused work from his Batman movies, as well as cuts from Alien³, Demolition Man & Interview with the Vampire. I used Elfman's Batman 1989 finale in my ending as it directly recalls the ending of Burton's movie, but that's all. Outside of the ending, it's all Goldenthal.
@@jordanjabroni You do that, but the other fanedit of Batman Forever does have Elfman's work from the first two Batman films and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. And if I done a Forever fan edit, I would use the scores from the first three that Elfman and Goldenthal. But great work though.
We could have had Man-Bat in the 90's 😭
Really it's him.
Soy fanático desde niño,y la verdad es que recién me doy cuenta de los sonidos reales a los que nos quicieron hacer creer todos estos años
With the deleted scene of Two Face calling Batman (or rather Bruce) a killer, it makes sense because he feels the guilt of him feeling responsible of his parents death. And keeping the plot of Jack Naiper being the killer in this version... chef's kiss.
@@victorcippitelli2242 Thank you!
Please release this entire movie this way? It time we got the shoemaker cut Winston for all this stuff is awesome sauce.
@@AwesomeSauceRadio My fanedit will be available June 2025.
I'll Be Turning 30 On February 26th 2025
The TV News reporter was being so selfish when he told Batman to retire, and the TV News Reporter didn't take into account all the good the Dark Knight Detective has done for Gotham City.
Agree but come on is very common in the superhero genre that, after a lot of colateral, the people and the media starts to turn against the hero, just the same complaints and blinded of the good actions. Believe me, after he stops Riddler and Two Face, they will appreciate him again.
#ReleaseTheSchumacherCut In 2025!!!

@@ardenaudreyarji I know but I own it on Blu Ray
I really hope someday WB will decide to release the directors cut.
This is one of the most important scenes that got cut. Some great dialogue, right there!
I do miss that shot of Batman looking up at the final thug who comes at him - maybe you got rid of it because it was too sudden - or Kilmer's lips perhaps.
@@GrandJediMaster7860 I dropped it because Batman looks absolutely shocked and scared - something he shouldn't be looking like 😂
@@jordanjabroni I thought it was Kilmer just pouting - and then I watched the scene again (as it originally was) - I guess you're right about that shot!
That was a nice surprise difference. This edit works a lot better without that insert shock shot of Kilmer. 😊
I second removing the cartoonsih soundeffects and goon noises. I would really like to hear Danny Elfman's theme and music instead of Goldsmith's. I think the first ever trailer for this film used Elfman's theme and that was pretty epic
I don’t think having Danny Elfman’s music would be a good idea (ik this may sound biased as I’m a Burton Batman purist) but Forever and Batman and Robin should be kept in their own canon as they are effectively a reboot. One more thing, Elliot Goldenthal did the score not Jerry Goldsmith. Jerry would’ve done a much better job :)
@@Joshuadmathews Hi! Thanks for your comment. While I've trimmed or muted some of the ad libs and noises for effect, the fact is that those villain sounds and the cartoon effects are intricately woven throughout Forever's DNA. They give the movie that dark, twisted version of a Saturday morning cartoon vibe and I wouldn't seek to change that. Also, Goldenthal's score absolutely slaps so I'm not taking that out. I added Elfman's finale before the end credits, which you can see on my channel, but then replaced the end credits music with a long suite by Goldenthal. I love his score so much.
@@demonblooddrinker7671 I adore Eliot Goldenthal's score for this movie!
@@demonblooddrinker7671 It's not a reboot. There is a scene where Bruce tells Dick that once you make the kill, then this pain just doesn't die, it only grows. So, you run out into the night to find another face, and another, and another until one terrible morning you wake up and realize that revenge has become your whole life. Dick responds with "Your family wasn't killed by a maniac" and Bruce retorts with "Yes, they were". The killer looks *very* similar to Jack Napier from '89. Same Alfred, same Gordon, a deleted plot point from the script about the citizens wanting Batman to retire for murdering the Joker, Penguin, Mooks, and Catwoman. Chase's sly comment about skin tight vinyl and a whip. You know who that character is who famously wears this. Two-Face's remark about Batman "being a killer too!" is from a deleted scene. Bruce mentions he hasn't had much luck with women, and that he's "never been in love before" to Alfred. The novelization mentions Harvey restoring Batman's reputation after "Returns" and the Red Triangle Gang from said movie. The fifth unmade movie "Batman: Triumphant" would have had Jack Nicholson return alongside, Michele Pfeiffer's Catwoman, TLJ Two-Face, Jim Carrey's Riddler. It would have been much darker than "Batman & Robin". But, the separate universes thing is true with what happens since the Keaton films and Clooney films are part of their own continuity.
@@Weirdman20 so effectively you’re not actually saying anything I wasn’t and the films are in a separate canon than the Keaton films!
Excellent! I sincerely hope that Warner Brothers allow the producers of Batman Forever to get a completed director's cut out by 2025 for its 30th anniversary. In the meantime I will look forward to seeing your fan edit - you have my attention. This is really well edited. 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
@@GrandJediMaster7860 Thank you! Alas, while I hold out hope for #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut to be fully realised one day, I have little faith in the studio to pull something together. So, like other fan editors before me, I've taken matters into my own hands. While Forever has been revisited and reworked by fans before - and likely will again in the future - I hope that my edit will really deliver.
@@jordanjabroni no worries - you're doing a phenomenal job. I guess you're right about WB/the studio. I still haven't seen any Batman Forever fan edits tbh. I have seen two Star Wars ones.... Star Wars Revisited and The Empire Strikes Back Revisited by fan editor, Adywan
nobody notices the 89 bat logo where it should NOT be......
@@thegsk ...what?
Can you please release one with just the normal movie with the 35mm color grade ? the 4K Transfer they officially released has to much blue tint
@@or2130 I'm still tinkering with the 30th Anniversary grading plans. My initial idea was to do a subtly more 'filmic' regrade as seen in these videos alongside a grade that is more akin to the three 35mm trailers available on RUclips. However, on my latest draft I am continuing to experiment with the colour choices. I will post an update and comparison video if I double down on changes. I will not be releasing regrades of the theatrical cut.

I remember reading the novelization as a kid, and it covered a lot of the stuff that was edited out of the theatrical release, including "You're a killer too!" I recall wondering why it had been cut from the movie.
@@glennwelsh9784 The comic book adaption is great, but the actual novelization by Peter David is INCREDIBLE. You were reading good as a kid!
Hey, jordanjabroni sorry for spamming your comment section with I'm about to post but I was wondering if you could provide me the raw deleted scenes? I ask cause I'm having troubles getting good quality/upscaling of them & yours are just ideal.

NGL man, what you have shown so far with this project I'm very much impressed and given that Batman Forever is one of my favorite movies that deserves a editor/director's cut to add back more of the psychological stuff from the first-two burton films it would be very nice to see what your take on the Schumacher cut will be like completed and if you decide to release it on Blu-ray I'll happily buy it~👍
@@mrcrazyinstinct5822 I can't release this on physical media as I am not Warner Bros. - but thanks for the kind words my friend!
Great edit! What's the track during the suit up?
@@stefanopedolazzi2310 Hello! This track is two variations of 'Batflight' from Batman & Robin, which begins exactly like 'Capsule' from Forever - making it perfect for this scene. It's from the scene where our heroes chase the Freezemobile and drive along the giant statue's arm. The first track used is from the cancelled 1997 score album (which can be found here - ruclips.net/video/1YfwI3aI-fc/видео.htmlsi=jdxjI6jJP_UCZXVZ) and the second track (which kicks in as the Batmobile comes speeding towards the camera in the tunnel) is a variation of 'Batflight' from the rare recording sessions of B&R.
@@jordanjabroni Thanks! Fits perfectly! Can't wait to see your edit
That littleofftheears needs to stay lost imo. lol :)
@@michaelnemo7629 I love it, personally. It adds to the idea that public perception of Batman is slipping, that the mystique is dying out - the things Kenneth Frequency is touching upon in his televised rant from the deleted scene following the Nygmatech party. It's very much like the Sixties show - even a little BTAS - but it's making Batman look foolish on purpose to really illustrate how Riddler is outwitting him as both Bruce Wayne AND Batman.
