I dunno if just me but........ a lot of these sounded like “Battery” covers
Ikr right especially cederic
Yeah with the odd time signatures
@Jayce Ledet nah its more like creeping death. I think the drum track is also creeping death's
Every Metallica song after Battery is just a cover of Battery. ;-P
A lot of them sounded like Dyers Eve to me.
3rd place: connor kaminski: sounded like Metallica turning into Pantera.
Sounds like a polish cover band
I like that
Metallica *BECOMING* Pantera

3:40 sounds like a riff that could've been on AJFA, legit.
I’m surprised that wasn’t in the final 3
This riff is the one that should've won
Sound more like something from master mixed with kill em' all, ajfa don't has a lot of gallop riffs
That tone was sick!
The tone was pretty muddy but very similar to the Seattle 89 sound. His riff was like most of others just a battery clone.
next time: riffs inspired by Deftones! Make it happen, Jared

Me: This kid is gonna win solely because he's a kid.
Much better entries in this vid to choose from Jared come on now.
i 100% agree
True, i agree 100%
to be fair, rich parents are a blessing to kid guitarists. one part of why Jayden is decent at guitar at such a young age is probably money. not bragging btw, the kid rocks.
i actually think his riff is way better than the third and second place, but i'm not sure if his riff was the best
@@tiago001pessoa yeah but compared to others like 3:39 he was not that great
The thing about “Metallica inspired” riffs is Metallica has such a wide spectrum of sound. Someone could write a Kill em all style to black album to st anger. And they’d all sound different
that is true
U do be spittin facts tho
Lars did an interview recently where he said that they have weekly zoom meetings where they have started to trade musical ideas and stuff
Crillzzz -J New album soon perhaps? Like, something in a RTL/Black Album style is what I hope for
I think it’s generally accepted Metallica’s signature sound is the heavy but smooth tone of master of puppets and their style is generally lick filled riffs with 0-0-0-0-0 to fill in space
4:23 when you sound and look more like Kirk Hammett than Kirk Hammett
Ikr
Kirk wahmmet
This guy was awesome
Idk I got Slash vibes for some reason
Kirk Hammett + Danny Sexbang
4:03 if battery was on hardwired
Nah, it's more like if Blackened was on Hardwired. He's basically playing a slightly modified version of the bridge in Blackened.
I was thinking more death magnetic
@@Dabestshindig the tone kind of sounds like a mix between Hardwired and That Was Just Your Life. Heavy but more melodic.
Its more Death Magnetic than Hardwired to me
3:38 that tone and production is SICK
Awesome tune... really kickass
Not a single mid left that hasn’t been scooped 😂
i am 42, & thats for me the sound of metallica. the rest is far too midrangy.
Perfect Justice tone, one of my personal favs
4:23 if Kirk was a lifeguard
Surf Hammett
coWAHbunga
If kirk hammett was a surfer...wait!!!kirk is a surfer!!!
Bruh this is just the unforgiven solo
5:35 my former guitar teacher! Gratz him
No offense but Jaydens was literally no remorse and moth into the flame stitched together for rhythm
one of the little riffs he played was DIRECTLY from hardwired (song) like I hate to hate especially cause he’s young but like the fact that he won doesn’t sit right with me
RyderGuy yeah I immediately noticed the pre verse riff from moth into flame. Then the chug on open E twice to a hammer on from 5 to 7 on A from no remorse
Can y’all leave him alone he’s a kid
metaleva I would but dude won $500
He did play impressively well for a little kid(better than I can!) but I don’t think he was the best especially in the spirit of competition. There were other entries I think should get the W.
2:42 that kid *NAILED* that tone. It makes me so happy hearing someone getting it right that I want to scream
Not hating but there were better tones in this video
@@oldmatevb disagreed
1:33 I don't care what you say, this is the best one. Change my mind.
Easy 4:02 with tone alone destroys that one let alone a better riff
I really like that one too, but tbh the opening clean part doesn't really remind me of Metallica all that much. It sounded dope, but if I was listening to that piece without the context of this video I definitely wouldn't instantly recall Metallica from it.
I gotta give props to the kid who won, his riff sounded like if No Remorse and Moth Into Flame had a baby. Even more impressive considering it's bringing riffs from their oldest and newest album together and it still sounded pretty seamless.
That one was my favorite of all of them.
better than #1 spot anyway
The opening clean part of that reminded me of like sanitarium or something off and justice for all
there’s something unnerving about someone playing “metallica” in a full adidas tracksuit
Slavallica
@Spiritombed no
@Spiritombed metallikorn
Nirtallica
@Spirit Tombed That sounds worryingly like St. Anger.
5:22 This guy has a Hetfield style guitar in the background and he doesn't even play it, what a madlad
Magnus Likes Tanks that was my favorite riff in the whole compilation tbqh. Anyone know if he’s got other bands out there?
James does play those esp lp style guitars as well... But i know what you mean, i love the explorer look
It's the same shape but thats really it. Hetfield uses ESP's equipped with his own custom made pickups "Het Set"
@@rcflem"tbqh"
q ?
@@TazerGames To be quite honest is my guess
5:34 is probably my favorite for the slower, Load/Reload vibes it gave off. The clean intro is great and the transition to the heavy is exactly the sort of more melody-driven stuff from that era (and the interim 2007 and 2014 years too)
3:39 is also kickass. Explorer? Check. Classic Boogie era guitar tone? Check. Headbang factor? \m/ \m/
4:23 is interesting because I can totally hear Kirk's Black Album era lead tone in there. His playing is great too.
Thanks a lot for noticing! That was the plan. I fell in love with Metallica music listening (re)load and death magnetic. Actually, there is a death magnetic inspired riff coming right after this intro part, which Jared didn't include. But it's alright :) Anyway, I'm extremely glad to be the part of all of it.
this was my favorite one too thank god I'm not the only one
@@eugeneklokov8029 Great job on your entry dude. :)
@@eugeneklokov8029 would you consider making a whole song based around the riff in this video? It was the best one in my opinion
Am I the only one who thinks the one at 4:00 was the best? It's not as technical as the others but it just nails the vibe completely
By far my choice!!!!!!!
Masla that’s cuz it’s literally a Metallica song
Νico Paramo r/whoosh
Its not the best riff imo but its the best metallicaish riff
I think it sounds a bit too much like Battery
I was a little bummed out when my riff wasn’t in here, but then I watched all the entries and now I know why lol. Great job everyone, killing it!
Tbh - I was waiting for your one to appear. I’d have said it was better than most but that’s just my opinion...
@@Jake-Thornton yep, I was also waiting for it 😄
Your riff was sick but I don't think it was Metallica-ry enough no way lars is playing that drum line haha
3:30 sounds more like slayer than metallica, maybe it’s the tone
true it just sounded like it could be any other thrash band other than Metallica
Kinda sounded like epidemic to me
It’s the tuning

Pantera

3:04 Ummmm actually Jared... The black album...
3:39 is the best, the tones are perfect and the riff is so Metallica
Dustin Reidy thinking the same. Definitely the best riff on here.
Also his haircut
Ultra Scoop Mid
Sounds like a boss hm-2
No offense here, but I feel like the kids always win just cause they’re kids. Like yeah, cool, you’re 5 and you play. It’s like an instant ticket to victory. I think 2nd place was the best imo. Like you could be an adult who put 20+ years into mastering your craft, but some 2 year old will still win lmao.
Excatly!
I wouldn’t even put the kid in top 5 almost every one took parts of already existing songs especially that kid the guy with the white explorer should’ve gotten first place I think
He took parts from no remorse, hardwired, and phantom lord and basically put them together
Or the guy at 4:03 at first
Jared: *Talks about METALLICA*

@@martinmoquin9824 Yes, to me it's hard rock .
Cedric's riff sounds like something straight off Death Magnetic... wow
“That Was Just Your Life” says hello :)
3:39 That tone is the best one in the entire video.
Sounds way too compressed
@@matthewlafontaine7386 a lot of metal music is compressed otherwise it would sound like a muddy mess.
Its the best cause it is the almighty justice tone
He has fockin gibson exp 84. More rare than esp mx-250 nowadays
That sounded the most Metallica to me! My favorite!
3:40 was the best in my opinion.
First part of the riff at 3:12 kinda sound like 'Metallica meets Korn' for some reason
Because it sounds like Korn's Blind...
Sounds like Master of puppets too
I think it’s more Metallica meets Slipknot
To me it sounds like Metallica meets Beyond Creation, especially since it reminds me of the intro to Earthborn Evolution
@@TheSixStringGuy because he's hitting 2 E notes and an f power chord, literally in master of puppets
4:03min was my favorite! What a nice uptempo thrash riff in good old battery style, Cecric Dreyszas! \m/
1:57 sounds like beast and the harlot avenged Sevenfold
Haha! I've not listened to a7x in years... must have been some old muscle memory lying about! I was actually trying to conjure that cool riff from Orion I think! Cheers
The same thing came to my mind. I love a7x
That's actually Beast and a Harlot riff
@@tomekgnr321 if you played you would not have said that. Because its not.

Dude, Macleane Ryan with that perfect Battery tone. Absolutely sick!
It sounds like if AJFA and RTL had an awesome drunk thrasher baby
@@BigTony-bf5jr *guitar slurring and burping*
That’s pure justice tone right there
Who else knew that the kids was going to take the price
Otto Garcia yeah bro give the kid 500$ when he has literally $10k worth of gear from his good ol papa. Smh bro maybe someone more deserving who did the best they could w what they got not a kid w a 2 thousand dollar guitar playing through a full Marshall jcm man
@@Pupinski711 I mean no, his audio was the worst which is why he didn't deserve it (gear is irrelevant), and quite frankly I'm surprised Jared picked that one.
I said its the best one immidiately after first time listening hahahaq!!!!! Also its my fav album!!
The kid basically just merged battery and hit the light and won cmon the guy who got third should have won but just because he's a kid he takes home the prize
Imo that Cedric guy wins it for me
how to be metallica: e standard with open e palm mute with powerchords on 3 5 and 6
Don't forget down picking.
Gotta throw in the flat 2 chord on the first feet too. That's the real sound of Metallica.
Hey! It's you
Switch e standard to d and change nothing else and you morph into avenged sevenfold xD
Honest Mills ha yup
getting big hardwired vibes from alof of them
I thought the majority had a lot of Death Magnetic influence going on surprisingly enough - was definitely expecting a lightning/puppets style chug fest
6:02 was the winner for me. - It’s a simple riff, but that guy honestly wrote something worth turning into a full song.
lxSagexl what’s his RUclips??
Agreed
i want that full song!
I liked that one too, but after he stops singing I was kinda expecting a Kirk solo aha
That was my favorite also. Great intro, the first part of making a great song.
You can hear Metallica, every Monday streaming past live shows for charity...
Metalli-Fun-Facts before FunFact guy gets here: Metallica was going to be the name of a metal magazine but their publisher friend said they could have it. Master of Puppets was going to be named Disposable Hero's and there wasn't time to change the LP art. Geddy Lee was orginally slated to produce Master of Puppets until they moved the recording sessions overseas.... and Les Claypool auditioned for Metallica when Cliff died but they said he was "too good"!
I remember Claypool talking about his audition on Behind the Music. His style was definitely not a proper fit for this band. I'd rather have more Primus and Metallica.
Dude i see you at most random places ever like really whats wrong with you
Fun fact - only true Metallica fans can name their favorite songs that aren’t Metallica’s top 20 songs.
Cliff also wasn’t their first bassist, Ron mcgovney was they jammed out in his garage back in 81-82
Actually the publisher friend of the magazine asked James which name was better for the magazine. The options was Metallica & Metal Mania. So James told him that Metal mania is the best name for the magazine - because he personally wanted to take the name Metallica for his band.
@@sunsetsmusic3792 fun fact, ron mcgovney lives in my town in NC!
4:02 man's definitely a slav.
he even got the adidas tracksuit on.
3:26 just tune your guitar to drop A and you've got yourself a sick slipknot riff
True
I'd say my top 3 were: Eugene Klokov (5:34), Connor Kaminski (1:33) and Macleane Ryan (3:40)
Agreed
Didn’t they say they are ready to start recording but couldn’t because of the situation?
They posted a collab type YT song from their homes a few days ago
Wait, seriously?? I would've bet good money that Hardwired would wind up being the last album they make, considering how apart most of their last few releases have been.
...also, I'm kinda surprised they would point to Covid being a reason they can't record, if they are motivated enough to start making more new material. There's a lot of things we can't do right now under quarantine, but recording music isn't really one of them.
@@travistotle They own their own label now

Let's just hope that kid's parents don't take all the money for themselves.

the kid is already famous he look him up
Right, since the kid bought the guitar with his own money, oh wait...
2:32 That kid was absolutely channeling Kill Em All with the first riff and maybe a bit of Hardwired with the second one. Awesome work, absolutely schooled everyone else.

Macleane Ryan's was my favorite. Sounds like something that could have been on Ride the Lightning of Master of Puppets. Reminded me of Battery, or Damage Inc.
Jayden was really good too. Kill em All inspired for sure
Jayden went old school, headbanging, and with the guitar.
And he stole no remorse and moth into flame
A few I recognized instantly
1:33 Connor Kaminski: Pretty much Battery intro mixed with one or Sanitarium, that was just your life intro, definitely justice tone, the day that never comes and to Live is to die and basically any clean Metallica riff but mainly those (great harmonies and great Metallica sounding btw)
1:44: The first lick is the god that failed maybe, justice tone also, I heard My apocalypse, battery and a slowed version of harvester of sorrow mixed with eye of the beholder, leper messiah intro, for whom the bell tolls and Justice for all breakdown after the solo, that was just your life and for some reason pretty similar to domination breakdown but not metallica neither
1:57: Definitely the fast Mustaine riff from Ride the lightning, the judas kiss, battery, damage inc, fight fire with fire and disposable heroes, trapped under ice, Leper Messiah, shoot me again and a very fast orion ending and maybe more idk
2:10 Roland Kudor: Damn its so Hardwired, and spit out the bone but mainly hardwired, damage inc, fight fire with fire buy yup its so Hardwired
2:31 Jayden Tatasciore: Also Hardwired, Spit out the bone and Frayed end of sanity cool riff, pretty much Slayer sounding
2:41 And justice for all breakdown mixed with the riff from Dyers eve after the solo, eye of the beholder also but not sure, btw sounds sick!!
2:51 Im not good recognizing solos but i would say frayed ends of sanity or shortest straw with justice one, also I heard puppets influence a lot and One
2:53 Brett Anspach: Master of puppets, disposable heroes, battery, master of puppets and fight fire with fire, too much justice and puppets albums influence in there
3:11 Bernard Lamo: He looks like kirk lmao, thats SO master of puppets obviously mixed with the riff that kirk wrote from my apocalypse but mainly puppets
3:30 Methiums first think came to my mind was black magic from slayer, the riff its more slayer tan metallica lol but creeping death and damage inc and blackened, better than you, ride the lightning and anything by them from the 80s I would say
3:30 Macclane Ryan: Battery, creeping death, great thrash sounding, eet fuk guitar and seattle 89 behind, simply gorgeous, dont trad on me and damage inc.
3:49 That was just your life and fast cyanide, seek and destroy because of the drums mayybe (?) great solo
4:02 A lot of Battery and blackened with all nighmare long and damage inc
4:23 The WAH! any solo after they recorded justice album

You bet, well Bachelorette and BIPC
The guy at 4:00 (Cedric). His riff - did Metallica rip that off for their new song teased today? (27th of March 2023). I think it's really similar
It's a style. They have certain patterns and common notes so it's easy to replicate the sound.
2:26 damn id accept that
OK so I thought it would be fun to see what songs these riffs sounded like, with no spoilers. I'll give initials, however; the riffs are in order.
RK: Seek and Destroy mixed with The Struggle Within.
BA: Master of Puppets. Got a lot from there I think.
BL: Ditto. We love this riff though.
Meth: SLAAAYYYERRRRRRRR no I'm joking. Lot of the Kill 'Em All influence as well, as well as a bit of Blackened.
MR: The AJFA tone is so good, so again we have Blackened as the main inspiration.
CS: Mr Syncopation here: the first bit is from The Judas Kiss, the second and solo being from Sanitarium?
CD: Back to Battery again, with a hint of My Apocalypse.
Nivo: I'm crying. I'm crying. WAAAAAH. But seriously though, it had a slower Holier Than Thou vibe to it.
EM: This is goooood. I was heavily reminded of the intro to That Was Just Your Life.
MG: This one was very close to the Metallica style, which was amazing, but it was difficult to pinpoint certain songs in it. It was very close to Damage, Inc imo. I may be wrong.
EK: More sludgy, reminiscent of something like Where the Wild Things Are (most underrated Metallica song for me), with a tang of their cover of Remember Tomorrow by Iron Maiden, mixed in with the Master of Puppets chorus riff.
EH:This is if Spit Out The Bone was faster and in D tuning.
3th: Opening was very Battery-like, and the breakdown was Seek and Destroy mixed with Better Than You.
2nd: For Whom the Bell Tolls and Harvester of Sorrow. Nice lyrics and Het impression as well!
1st: Worthy winner definitely, (amazing for a guy so young): it might be cause he's playing a Flying V, but it sounds like 1000 Times Goodbye which is Megadeth oooooohhh boyy. There's a definite Atlas, Rise! vibe to it though, with a bit of Slayer's Black Magic in there too. I like this one- it summarises thrash as a genre. Still kept true to the 'Tallica style.
And the end one (LD): Disposable Heroes. Hands down.
This proves the things: 1) the guitarists of the world are talented beyond belief. 2) Metallica still lives! 3) I have waaay to much time on my hands.
Anyways stay safe guys. If you've read up to here, WHY? Nah jk thank you.
Enrico Magno stole the show for me. 5:01 that's the best riff in this video!
Thank you man! I appreciate it! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
