This song sure changed things for Metallica. The first time I saw these guys live they were opening for Ozzy at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tn. This was 1987 or 1988. Anyway, they literally got booed off the stage. I loved them. I had never heard a band jam as hard as them. So, when Ozzy came out after all the booing his first words was “fuck you!”. Who can blame him. My point being that this song and album made Metallica legends. They went from only heavy metal fans to mainstream.

I’m guessing that they completed their set though. Metallica didn’t stop in the middle of a song or anything. The crowd just kept chanting “Ozzy! Ozzy!”. The drums, James's vocal acoustics, the lyrics, the rhythm guitar, the solo, the bass, and it all comes together to make arguably the greatest metal song in history. This song sure changed things for Metallica. The first time I saw these guys live they were opening for Ozzy at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tn. This was 1987 or 1988. Anyway, they literally got booed off the stage. I loved them. I had never heard a band jam as hard as them. So, when Ozzy came out after all the booing his first words was “fuck you!”. Who can blame him. My point being that this song and album made Metallica legends. They went from only heavy metal fans to mainstream.

I might be wrong about the year. It’s been a minute. Metallica was opening for Ozzy at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tn. Metallica played their hearts out. I’m guessing that they completed their set though. Metallica didn’t stop in the middle of a song or anything. The crowd just kept chanting “Ozzy! Ozzy!”. When Ozzy did come out, like I said before, his first words were “Fu** You!”. Ozzy and his band only played for 37 minutes before he left. Who can blame him? Anyway, peace Brother…..

When I was in college I had a music class in drums. After playing this over and over I got it down about 85 pct. Lars is a beast playing the drums. One of my favs
Lars is one of the worst drummers out of any of the mainstream rock/metal bands, he does play to the music though, which is respectable and still makes songs like this sound badass.
