How To Easily Redeem Capital One Miles (For MAX Value)

- In this video, we’re going over how to redeem Capital One Miles for max value! Capital One gives people with credit cards like the Venture and Venture X a lot of options for how to use their credit card miles, but unfortunately many of these options can be bad. Because of this, I’m going to walk through which of these redemption choices should be avoided and which ones will give us the most value from our hard-earned Capital One Miles.
The best way to redeem Capital One Miles is for travel by transferring miles from your credit cards to other hotel and airline programs. By using Capital One Miles for travel, you can find many ways to get at least double or triple the value of your credit card miles compared to other options! I’ll go over a few examples of how to do that in this video.

I will say that anything above economy is incredibly hard to find on Capital One’s transfer partners unless you’re flexible on your travel dates. But for a normal working person with dogs and a kid on the way, we can’t be flexible. I’ve searched SO many routes and dates and trips and gotten nothing good to show up. It’s really unfortunate and I wish more content creators mentioned it.
Being flexible is honestly a key thing here in the points and miles game. If there is no flexibility whatsoever, then that is going to limit travel redemption options in some situations depending on where you’re flying to/from. It’s always better to try to pick a date range that you’re looking to travel rather than specific dates if you want the best chances of finding award seats in business or economy class.
That being said, we’ve often been able to find options with transferring points/miles, even as we work around my fiancée’s work schedule where she is not very flexible at all. Sometimes we just have to look at multiple airports (we’re lucky because we have PHL and EWR or even JFK to search from)
If there is no flexibility whatsoever, then chances of getting higher cent per point values with transferring points/miles can decrease. The best option at that point is to use the travel portal (Chase gives 25 or 50% points boost for that which is better than Capital One) or go the cash back route.
I’d say to just adapt the credit card strategy for what fits your lifestyle which is different for everyone
Would anybody be able to tell me if the same flexibility required with Chase's transfer partners?
DC to Singapore for 95k miles +$205 in Qatar Qsuite is the greatest steal of my life. ~5-6 CPM
The production value has taken a leap forward. Great job supplementing great content with incredible editing
Thank you so much for saying that! I’ve really been working hard to increase the look of the video and the quality of the editing, so that means a lot to me 👍
Thanks for this video, will be needing this info in the coming months. Love these type of videos!
Ahhhh thumbnail made me think it had a $100k welcome bonus again! Hahaha great video none the less.
Oh wow I see what you mean and I wasn't trying to do that! Haha
I'm actually going to test a new thumbnail that might not be misleading like that to see if that's a better one to go with. Thanks for letting me know about this, and glad you liked the video as well!
Damn. You changed that quick. I didn't even get to see the 100k thumbnail!
It’s actually an A/B/C test so everyone is seeing a different version haha. RUclips will tell me which one resonates the best with viewers based on the data which is cool!
@@Daniel_Braun ahhhh I see. Yeah that is cool. No worries man, it definitely got my attention haha! Hopefully that 100k offer comes back in the future.
Same 🫤
Thank you so much for this detailed breakdown!!
Always great to see transfer partner deals providing max value if you have time to do the research. Thanks for this Danny.
Thank you so much for this Daniel!!
Solid video as always! Thank you for that Turkish Airlines hack, super helpful!
Such an informative video! Those flight examples were very easy to follow along with. Appreciate that you made examples of common US airlines like Delta and United. Awesome work as always man! Keep it going 👏
What I’ve been waiting for!🙌
you explained a complicated process very well
Great video. Very informative
A video like this for Bilt Mastercard would be great
Have you found a lot of United saver flights from LAX to Hawaii? They are very rare to find. Ithe departure times are pretty bad too
Very helpful video, what about trying to book ANA ?
You are a God send for that excel doc
Man thanks so much for this video. I just booked a hotel with Wyndham for a huge game in Tuscaloosa Alabama for Bama vs Georgia in September for 30k miles for 2 nights. Cash price was 8 grand. Tho staying at a microtel suites so not the best the redemption was really sick.
Great videos, what about airfrance can we transfer miles from Cap1 venture x to go to Europe for a business class? TIA
Is there any preferred methods for international travel?
quick question on Venture X points, when I transfer points to Emirates or Qatar or any airlines do I need to buy ticket using points myself or I can buy any of my family members?
Does Virgin Atlantic give Delta flights that go from US To Mexico? or US only
Great video! Learned a hell of a lot more than I knew before.
Hello! There’s a typo on the excel sheet in column I :) just thought I’d let you know
very good video
Thank you for making this video bro! I hope you can do same video about Chase as well. I don’t how to maximize redemption with Chase and how to transfer points to the best partners.
Already have that video right here!

@@Daniel_Braun OK thank you so much! Appreciate it
Hello Daniel,
I have a question for you, I have 170k mile on my Capital one card and 60k on my United , how can transfer both to another Star Alliance airline ?
But normally most credit cards give you extra points when you book directly through their portal so points have to have value somehow correct?
Hey I’m trying to get a international flight from ny to Brazil I try Avianca but I’m like afraid bad customer service, I try air Canada too expensive even when using my miles it’s like 1 cent even when I transfer. Any other transfer partners tit know ? Can I use virgin to book delta international flights ?
Question, for the cover travel purchases options, do you still get miles on the purchase and then use miles to cover for the backend would that give you more value than covering on the front end?
I believe so! I was looking in the comments for the same exact thing. I prefer to not go out to transfer partners because I’m not in the market for the lavish business class flights and vacations across the world just yet.
I originally planned to only use miles for flights or rental cars because they gave only 5x miles compared to hotels giving 10x. This would be a game changer in that miles aren’t used at all while booking, so you could get the 5x bonus as well as the redemption value after as you are saying.
For example:
Option 1:
$1000 round trip flight with the 5x miles multiplier gives 5,000 miles = $50 when covering expenses after. $50/5,000 = 1 cent/point value.
Option 2:
Same $1000 flight, but 5,000 miles were applied up front. $1,000 - $50 = $950 BUT only $950 is gaining the 5x multiplier. $950 at 5x rate earns 4,750 miles = $47.5 value. $47.5/5,000 = .95 cents/mile.
Alternatively, if we use the same idea but for a hotel, which earns 10x miles instead of 5x miles, it would still be a 1 cent/point value when covering the purchase BUT only a .9 cents/point value when applying the same number of miles up front. (I’d show the calculations again here, but I’m too lazy to do another breakdown. )
One other note is this allows you to use your points almost immediately instead of having to wait until your next trip to use the points.
In summary, if you are someone that doesn’t care to convert your miles out to other travel partners, then it is better from a value perspective to cover past travel expenses (this can also include services such as AirBNB and Uhaul) instead of applying them through the travel portal directly.
@Daniel_Braun I think this would be a good point to bring up as well. I’m not sure if other travel cards or credit cards in general offer a similar way of redemption (besides 1 cent/point cash back where it's better value to cash out points and not apply directly to a purchase itself so that you can get points on purchase itself still.)
When did Turkish increase their price for United? I just used points to go to Hawaii with my wife for our anniversary in March and it was still 7.5k points for all domestic flights. I guess we got lucky and got in right under the limit.
I think they just increased it like 1-2 months ago - yeah 7,500 points was crazy cheap!
I'm averaging about .05c per C1 mile for business class flights. The best part is that if the business class flight was a paid economy flight it would still be .01c pp which at least makes me feel like I'm getting a business class flight for the monetary cost of economy. 😅
That's how I look at it as well. Recently went to Greece on Air France. I spent 110k points and $400 in taxes fees, so about $1500 in "real money". So that's about the same price as an economy flight to Europe.
You should never use the pay for hotels/flights with points theough the portal. Pay the cash price with the card to get the 5/10% then use the cover travel purchase. You get to double dip.
Isn’t that a greater cpm value than transfer partners to double dip?
Nah it's not better than transferring in some cases, but say a hotel costs 100$ in the portal, you can pay with points for 10,000 or you can pay the 100 with the card and you get 1000 points and when you cover the purchase it still cost 10,000 points. This was your really only paying 9000 points maybe? But you get an additional 1000 points in this situation.
I've learned so much from this channel. Thanks dude
I love to hear that! Thank you so much, glad you like the videos
@@Daniel_Braun Absolutely. While watching this video I went to check out what purchases were eligible to be covered as travel purchases, since I really don't use the points and didn't research the features well. When I saw my _RENT_ on there... 😂Turned my whole world upside down.
Oh wow that’s a game changer! I’m gonna have to look into that
Convert Rewards doesn't show as an option in my Capitol One account. Has it been deleted?
Are you using a cash back card or a card that earns miles?
Looking at my notes I see my Venture card was converted to Quicksilver in 2017. Looking on the Cap 1 site, I see it apparently is a cash-back card, since Venture mentions "miles." Looks like I need to convert it back (if they'll let me). Sorry to bother you!@@Daniel_Braun
YES LETS GO
I like the comment “value is subjective”!! ☺️
Wish they have Hyatt

First comment again! 🥇 Appreciate your support here as an early viewer!
That first calculation seems too be off. 100 miles would equal. 5 cents
It’s correct, you just have to move the decimal. 100 miles x 0.5 cents per mile as the cash conversion rate = 50 cents
100 miles normally should be worth $1 when redeemed for travel through Capital One or to cover previous travel purchases. But redeeming for cash back cuts that in half
Where are the download links?
In the description to the video
A lot of “So” in the first minute or so.
Good information nonetheless.
First!
Third technically, but still somehow always first lol
@@Daniel_Braunif you know, you know 😂😂😂
I have Capital One SavorOne but that doesn’t offer miles. If I get the VentureOne Rewards card can I shift my cash back from SavorOne into miles? Don’t want to add another annual fee card which is why I’m leaning VentureOne over X.
If you have the venture or venture x yes you can. I hate it has to be like that lol
