Please do a video on your 2-player strategy! I've been trying to convince my girlfriend to move on from her beginner credit card she got since college, and since I've personally only got three cards we're basically a blank slate for an optimal strategy
The Venture X is a card that I don't see myself canceling with how easy it is to get positive value from with even just one trip a year through their portal, but at the same time, I don't think it's as premium as people make it out to be. It's a great middle ground between cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and a true premium card like the Amex Platinum which puts it in a category of its own, and that's good and bad in some ways. Definitely still a powerful card as it sits right now though! Great video as always brotha 👊🏼 Side note: The Hertz Presidents Circle status has been one of the most underrated benefits of this card for my personal use. It's been amazing!
I think the Amex plat lost a lot of its exclusivity and Amex customer service lacks what it once was. Though I agree with your overall statement, it’s hard to call the amex play a “true premium” card
We can keep picking this card apart but no card is perfect. It comes down to personal preference to be honest. This card is still one i will be applying for and combing it with my Amex gold card.
If you don't mind travel portals, and don't care about hotel status, the Venture X is a great card. My wife and I travel about once or twice a year domestically (internationally every couple years), plus buying travel for her family. None of us care about status or a particular hotel chain, so the portal works great for us. If status matters to you, or you only stay at a certain hotel chain or fly a certain airline, or you don't like portals, the VX might not be the card for you.
Great video Daniel. Thanks. My wife was recently approved and I am an authorized user. After watching your video I realize there are more benefits then I thought such as a lot of transfer partners to yield better points value. Also the price match option on the Capital One Portal.

C1 was really smart giving 2x on everything. Since this is my catch all card I will probably never get rid of this card. Also that I visit their awesome lounges 2-4 times a year doesn't hurt either.
Great video. As they say mileage may vary. I travel 99% of the time with my family and value transferring 120k Chase points more for a Hyatt resort for a week then for a nicer round trip flight, that being said 100% of my Chase points go to Hyatt (I have gotten well over 4cpp on redemptions) and the VX is my PP airport lounge card that mostly sits in the sock drawer aside from the once a year use of the $300 credit because I book direct with hotels and airlines and not through portals. The VX transfer partners are not great from a hotel perspective and with their airline partners I would have to search for award flights and that does not allow for flexibility when traveling with family

does capital one price match travel sites? I struggle to justify using a portal for $30 in travel points when a travel site has it for $50 cheaper. Yet, if they price match everything then this is great. However, it seems like there might be some fine print on the price match that i am not aware of. Any ideas on what the catch is?
If you spend more than $400 per year on travel (flights, shuttle, etc) it is more than worth it. And all the other perks are cherries on top that you may want to use at some point. Capital One price match is simple and makes the $300 credit very easy.
Caveat Emptor: Capital One continously takes away benefits. Priority Pass restaurants now only lounges. $300 travel stipend that allowed you to earn points on spending now only a coupon that forces you to use with their travel portal. Hertz President's Circle elite status ending in 2024. Lounge access might be next on the chopping block. No Capital One lounges in Boston Logan airport only DFW, IAD, and DEN. Chase Sapphire Reserve is easier to use and return value for slightly higher annual fee.
One thing I will say about the Capital One portal is they really are limited in rental car options. I'm currently in Montreal on vacation and wanted to try out the Hertz status that comes with my card. Unless I wanted to book from the airport I had to use another company, like Budget and Alamo, as there were no Hertz locations offered besides the airport. I even found a Hertz location in downtown Montreal with cars available for my dates, but it was missing from the travel portal. The same goes for Enterprise and National. Ended up booking an Alamo car instead.
Heads up Hertz presidential status doesn’t rely on use of the Capital One travel portal. You just have to register for it through Capital One and you can book directly with Hertz. Once you have Presidential status you can then status match with a couple other rental companies.
In situations like this, it helps to call Capital One. Capital One travel agents will book a car for you and they can often find something on their end that you couldn’t find within the portal.. it’s a little weird and perhaps annoying to have to do that extra step. But it’s worth it if you’re very particular about what agency you like to rent cars from or what cars you get 🤷♂️ I’m sure there’ll be times when even Capital One agents can’t find what you’re looking for, but it never hurts to try.
With lounges dealing with overcrowding, I think they should both charge for extra cardholders, as well as not let them bring in guests. That should be a perk for the primary card holder.
How to make sure that a) the prices in the portal to redeem points aren’t higher than cheap sources such as Google flights? b) earning the miles/ points is better than cash back on everyday transactions and then again in a flight purchase transaction?
Capital One has horrible customer service. There are a few no annual fee cards that offer the same 2X. At least three no annual fee cards offer more than 2X.
The only reason prevent me from getting this card is because I hardly travel. And the annual fee is not helping with my the decision. Honestly I don't like annual fee cards.
But, if you book a hotel through the. Spiral One Portal you will NOT earn hotel points (at least at Marriott’s or Hilton’s). Something to keep in mind.
There’s a few of those videos out already. Capital One is the better card based on its fee structure. A big variable is how you value points and whether you’re loyal to any particular airlines or hotel brands. For example, if you prefer Hyatt hotels, then CSR is a substantially better card.
It essentially comes down to whether you’re going to spend at least $400 in travel to offset the annual fee. The card is great for everyone based only on the 2x miles per dollar spent. You just need to make sure you can organically use the travel credits to offset your annual fee.

Hi Daniel, question for you. I recall you saying that your fiancée had the Venture X as the primary cardholder and you’re an authorized user. Which one of you is the primary cardholder for your Savor One card? My husband is the primary on our Venture X card and I am the primary on the Savor One and we are not able to transfer our cash back rewards from the Savor One to the Venture X. Do you know why this may be? Does the primary cardholder have to be the same on both cards?
You have the power to be the go-to channel for how to visit certain countries on points, how hotel and flight cards work, and underrated cards yet we keep seeing the same videos every month. Please consider branching out more but I understand you know your business and brand better. Just feel your target audience has already heard these tips and tricks before and for me I consider turning notifs off or unsubbing.
so from what ive looked at recently most of the airlines have a 1:1 conversion ratio, if not lower. I havent seen any higher than 1:1 as per capital ones website. Is it different after applying for the card and actually having the points to transfer? I was most interesting in the 2-3 cents per mile you mentioned
Your reasons were same reasons why I was denied for venture x. It's been over a year. Thinking of trying again so I can pair with my savor one. But looks like you been denied over a year later again???
Honestly it makes me wonder why Sapphire products don't have 1.5x flat amount like Freedom Unlimited, or Platinum/ B Platinum like BBP. Would be nice to actually use my premium card and give it a reason to be in my wallet not just booking travel
I started paying rent with this card and the 2x is a nice way to rack up the miles. I am aware of the Bilt card, but not certain I want to add it to the mix.
How accurate is the pre-approved Venture X process/site? I went through it and was pre-approved. Back in June, I was denied through the actual application process. The same reason Daniel received.
Cap1 won't give me any more cards because I have too many accounts. I have 20k credit lines with two other card companies but they won't give me more than $750. They don't like me 😞
Im sorry but i have to disagree you are overlooking the value of this card Chase Sapphire Reserve . I do not like being locked into a portal for redemption 👌
@@TenaciousT1198 They will. You book it, then call up and tell them where it’s cheaper and they’ll give you a travel credit for the difference. You still get the 10x on the full amount too, so it actually works out better than a price match.
If the Capital One portal says you're already approved for the card, you can trust it. I was approved for 4 cards with them and grabbed the regular Venture card. Chase does the same thing, I was pre-approved for both the Sapphire Preferred and the Reserve so I took the Reserve.
@@cfpzona I've seen a few instances of pre-approvals for Venture X still resulting in a rejection when you finish the application. Especially with high-score bonus churning users. I appreciate the reassurance though!
doesn't adding the annual $300 travel credit into the evaluation assume we will be booking the travel through the Cap 1 system? so for Year 1 if someone only wanted to book directly, it would be a $435 value? and Year 2 and beyond the AF would be $295? But the $300 annual travel credit could be combined after paying the AF for Year 2 to book a trip through the Cap 1 portal.
The $300 can’t be combined from year to year. But basically the $300 travel credit in the evaluation assumes that you will use it if you travel even 1-2 times per year. The good thing with Capital One travel is that they price match like I talked about - so from a pricing perspective it makes sense to use that travel credit first instead of booking direct
Everyone loves to talk about the card, but no one has tried to take a crack out how they will justify the annual fee increase when it inevitably happens. I think Ive seen someone say that the fee will be 495 which sounds right, and the travel coupon/credit will be broken down to two 200 credits where you use one in the first half of the year and the other in the second half. Anyways, thats where the conversation needs to head surrounding this card.
A fee and credit structure like you described is similar to what the CSR and other premium travel cards have and people seem to find value in them. Capital One is taking a loss on these cards to capture market share. Just be ready to re-evaluate the card when they decide to bring the fee up to market rate.
If you get added as an authorized user on this card, when does it count towards your 5/24 status? Is it when the card was opened by the primary card holder or when you got added as an authorized user?
If you don’t have the CSP or CSR to transfer out Chase points for greater leverage then I would recommend the VX. I have the CFU, CFF, CSP and VX, I transfer all Chase points to Hyatt and the VX is effectively my lounge and benefits card
Question. Since there’s no interest for the first 15 months, if I didn’t pay the full balance on my first statement, would my credit score take a hit? I have full plans on paying the statement in full, but I am curious about this
It depends on what your utilization is. If you rack up $6,000 on a $10,000 credit limit then yes your credit score will tank. Up to 30% utilization, ideally less than 10% will have the least affect on your credit score.
Not a waste at all! We just booked a resort for our vacation that was $760 for 2 nights and we used points for this luxury hotel! We're satisfied with our points redemption!

Not a mistake, I’m talking about the cash equivalent of redeeming for travel which is 1 cent per mile. Sorry if that wasn’t clear in the video 👍
If you are doing any traveling, the Venture X is a no-brainer. The Venture X has a $395 annual fee, but the $300 travel credit via portal + 10k miles anniversary bonus gives it a positive yearly value - at 2 cents/mile, Capital One is giving you $95/year to keep the card (so long as you use the portal credit). The Venture comes with neither the travel credit or anniversary bonus, so the effective annual fee is the same as the listed fee - $95. Add in the lounge access, Hertz status, 10x on hotels and rental cars (Venture is 5x), and travel protections (not on the Venture), and the Venture X is a clear winner. Also, there are still referral links floating out there for a 90k bonus on the Venture X - I got the card in September 2023, when there was a publicly available link for a 90k welcome bonus.
@@chijason6630 thank you for that well laid out reply. Yea i guess Venture has nothing to offset the $95 at all. It just sucks im experiencing the same issues as Daniel getting it. I only now got offered the Venture One through pre-approval. Haha getting closer to one day being allowed the X!
Technically no but there’s a work around. You can’t go into the portal and use your points to pay for the annual fee BUT you can use your points to erase $395 worth of travel purchases made after the $300 travel credit has been exhausted.

Just feel your target audience has already heard these tips and tricks before and for me I consider turning notifs off or unsubbing.
just got it, we’ll see how it goes
so from what ive looked at recently most of the airlines have a 1:1 conversion ratio, if not lower.

TSA precheck is just for US citizens, and Global Entry is a tedious process. but the card is still worth it
Arp is 30% 😅
One day I’ll join the club
Honestly it makes me wonder why Sapphire products don't have 1.5x flat amount like Freedom Unlimited, or Platinum/ B Platinum like BBP. Would be nice to actually use my premium card and give it a reason to be in my wallet not just booking travel
Does Venture X provide third party liability for auto rental?
I started paying rent with this card and the 2x is a nice way to rack up the miles. I am aware of the Bilt card, but not certain I want to add it to the mix.
how u paying rent?
The bilt card is has $0 annual fee, has way better partners than C1, and is free to pay rent
I've heard Bilt is one of the few ways to earn AA points!
so if im traveling from the states to europe a few times a year, this would be the best card?
My favorite card for sure!
Is the venture X considered a charge card?
Great video 📹 👍
The card is so hard to get I got decline with an above 6 figure job and a 760 credit score.
I got approved back in March with a 703 credit score, 40k income, and 31 other cards. Capital One underwriting seems to be crapshoot.
Are you using the Venture as your regular catch all card instead of the Chase Freedom Unlimited?
This card is the best hands down.
How accurate is the pre-approved Venture X process/site? I went through it and was pre-approved. Back in June, I was denied through the actual application process. The same reason Daniel received.
How many cards do you have active? I too am pre-approved but I'm really worried about getting denied.
Hi, how does it work with cruise trips in terms of points? Thanks
I thought they got rid of the lounges? Didn’t an email go out?
Cap1 won't give me any more cards because I have too many accounts. I have 20k credit lines with two other card companies but they won't give me more than $750. They don't like me 😞
I thought the 10x with booking on the travel portal isn’t a thing anymore since it’s not a statement charge but a $300 credit now.
how do you get 2-3cpm? Where are you transferring those points too?
Anyone knows if I have the card and I add my husband and son as author users they can get the global entry? I already have it.
Im sorry but i have to disagree you are overlooking the value of this card Chase Sapphire Reserve . I do not like being locked into a portal for redemption 👌
the portal is only for the 10x & 5x points. u can purchase a plane ticket directly from the airline with the venture x and pay it off with points.
@@cerebrumexcrementThe portal will price match anyone else too, so it’s not like they’re gouging you.
@@kungfoochicken08 so they price match hotels and flights?
@@TenaciousT1198 They will. You book it, then call up and tell them where it’s cheaper and they’ll give you a travel credit for the difference. You still get the 10x on the full amount too, so it actually works out better than a price match.
@@TenaciousT1198 They do. You have to make the purchase in the portal, then call them and they’ll give you a travel credit for the difference.
When you applied twice, did the pre-approval tool show you would be approved? Pre-approval shows I'm good but I am still worried I will get denied.
@@RapidFireRetro no problem. Good luck!
doesn't adding the annual $300 travel credit into the evaluation assume we will be booking the travel through the Cap 1 system? so for Year 1 if someone only wanted to book directly, it would be a $435 value? and Year 2 and beyond the AF would be $295?
But the $300 annual travel credit could be combined after paying the AF for Year 2 to book a trip through the Cap 1 portal.
The $300 can’t be combined from year to year. But basically the $300 travel credit in the evaluation assumes that you will use it if you travel even 1-2 times per year. The good thing with Capital One travel is that they price match like I talked about - so from a pricing perspective it makes sense to use that travel credit first instead of booking direct
the portal isnt that bad from my experience so far.
lets say i book a package through expedia. will capital one still price match it?
What if you find a better price on another portal like Chase? Do they price match that or just from the airline’s site?
I'm not sure about chase (since that requires a login) but they match with Expedia and such. Also, I typically find that they have the cheapest price
Hope i get approved for this card this year.
can I use my savor one and transfer points to my wifes venture x of im an authorized user?
Its decent. New Lounges 👏🏽
I have excellent credit. Applied twice in a year and declined
If you get added as an authorized user on this card, when does it count towards your 5/24 status? Is it when the card was opened by the primary card holder or when you got added as an authorized user?
AU don’t count towards your 5/24 limit.
Torn between Venture X and Chase Freedom unlimited due to the unlimited matched cash back. No other chase cards btw
If you don’t have the CSP or CSR to transfer out Chase points for greater leverage then I would recommend the VX. I have the CFU, CFF, CSP and VX, I transfer all Chase points to Hyatt and the VX is effectively my lounge and benefits card
can i cancel credit card i don't use? will that affect my credit score?
You forgot to mention that $300 travel credit won't give u the 5x miles when booked thru portal
Do you have to pay the initial $395 fee immediately?
Yeah within the first month or so
Do additional users get TSA $100 credit?
@@93aMike Thank you
Would it be a waste to redeem miles for hotels instead of airfare if you frequently travel by car?
Not a waste at all! We just booked a resort for our vacation that was $760 for 2 nights and we used points for this luxury hotel! We're satisfied with our points redemption!

anyone has 90K welcome bonus link?
Does portal has frontier or spirit airline ? Chase portal does not
I don't think it does have the no frills airlines
I don't understand why anyone would pay an annual fee to use a credit card, when credit card/Banks goal is to get you into debt.
You pay a fee but they give you value back in the form of miles and free hotel stays.
@@Jiggy609 I get that but their ultimate goal is to put people into debt. everything is an incentive to get people to use the card and end up in debt. cant find the logic to pay an annual fee.
Is 90k bonus miles with referral link still available? If so, can anyone can share it?
No that offer has expired back in December
It’s a great looking card but sadly for people who don’t really travel it dosent seem worth it
You made huge mistake a couple of times bro, this card can’t be redeemed 1 cent per mile for cash, it’s 0.5
So 75k miles isn’t $750 is $375
Not a mistake, I’m talking about the cash equivalent of redeeming for travel which is 1 cent per mile. Explained it in more detail here: ruclips.net/video/E4pFwoCgG-o/видео.htmlsi=xEhCUY3pL_CSPK6C
Never settle for 0.5 cents per mile for cash back with Capital One. Sorry if that wasn’t clear in the video 👍
What is he gesturing to? I get distracted by that. Lol
IF they ever accept me, im trying to decide on venture vs venture x. Anyone have any experience? Its same welcome bonus and same multipliers
Can anyone confirm if you can convert the points to pay the annual fee, other purchases?
Technically no but there’s a work around. You can’t go into the portal and use your points to pay for the annual fee BUT you can use your points to erase $395 worth of travel purchases made after the $300 travel credit has been exhausted.
@@tatianabritton6258 thank you.
