How to Set Out of Office in Outlook

Learn how to set up automatic replies in Outlook Desktop and Outlook on the web for when you go on vacation or when you're out sick.
As full disclosure, I work at Microsoft as a full-time employee.
To set an out of office reply, click on File and select Automatic replies.

Good video! The problem I’m having is that my Outlook keeps sending an old out-of-office from an earlier vacation. I don’t know why it does this. When I go into settings, the old message is not visible. But when I test my OOO-mail, the way you did, I get my new out of office and the old one at the same time 😂 Did you ever have this?

Hi Kevin, is there a way to program future automatic replies for multiple periods? Ideally, can we add automatic replies to an event in the calendar? Or at least program automatic replies for any period when the status in calendar is out of office? This would make things so much easier when planning holidays or days off in advance. Thanks!

Hey Kevin, thank you for your video. Can I have an additional question please? What if just applied for 2 vacations (in different months - May and July), and my boss wants me to include them in my outlook. Sure I was able to include the May one, but is it possible to make it also for July so I dont forget to set it up, or should I wait until the May one is over - turn off that one in Outlook and then after set up the one for July. thank you, Jozef

Hi. How do you set OOO to respond to Teams messages but not Outlook. The reason is we have a couple of staff members that keep sending us field engineers Teams requests and we can’t seem to get them to understand we can only use Outlook on the road and send an email only. So we don’t need an auto response on email only Teams. Thanks.

Kevin, how do I set it for customers but not my office workers. for instance, I am an IT tech and I only work 3 1/2 days a week, and the IT department has a department email, but when I am off, customers email me personally which in turn my co workers that are working and can help them can not see this email; I don't want to respond while i am off. So is there a way I can set this up so they see it? I'd hate to set an out of office and even my IT department will get this out of office email too.
