Climbing up the mountain Trying to reach the top Almost finished my battle Gone halfway and I just can't stop At the end of the mountain there is faith and trust I can see Jesus standing there to meet us I thank God I am reaching for myself
Yasss, now this is churchin.. Churches today can't hold a candle to this stuff..The lady who introduced three part harmonies to choirs...❤ come through Dr.Mattie Moss Clark..
I came here after watching Ms Ora Watkins's interview. What a time in heaven we are going to have and on the new earth. I can't wait. Keep climbing saints.
YES! AMEN! All our Black churches need to get back to old-school praise and choral music! It is filled with "joy unspeakable and full of glory"! And in today's world, we need more of this driving, powerful, Holy Ghost-filled music that points us to JESUS and our triumph in GOD!
This is phenomenal! Dr. Mattie Moss Clark's ear is impeccable. To hear the separate parts and direct a choir, this size, with such precision is beyond just having a gift; this is skill, education, dedication, and talent. Wow! That was worth the insomnia!! Now I'm glad I couldn't sleep!!! Thank you Lord for this treat!
When I saw her throw hymn book at a tenor that was off key in a 600 member choir rehearsal in Memphis and we were at the top that was my last day ever singing during convocation back in 81. I was like how did she hear that one lone off voice in all these people!!!
I started to begin my day with this song about 2 weeks ago. It has really done something to my spirit to begin with this old fashioned foot stomping song. 👏🏾👏🏾
iceman200890 This vid is the reunion of the southwest Michigan state choir. with the original lead singers, like Esther Smith, Rose Mare Rimson-Brown, Charles Cotten, Ronnie Kersey, Twinkie Clark Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Mr. CLean.
Dr. Mattie Moses Clark was powerful anointing teacher's of music and choir director because to be that powerful and anointing ; and spend a lot time praying and reading her bible also she spent a lot time talking to God and holy ghost. And she took jobs seriously in and out of church.
I never met her. However, members of my COGIC church tell me they sung in choirs that she directed. they say she use to throws shoes or any objects near her at choir members when she was dissatisfied or they messed up a note. If they are telling the truth. I see a partially formal musical educated person and self -taught and committed to doing her best. However, I cannot imagine "The Holy Ghost" throwing objects and shoes at anyone or thing especially in a church setting.
Climbing up the mountain, trying to reach the top-- Almost finished my battle--gone halfway and I just can't stop! At the end of the mountain there is faith and trust; I can see JESUS standing there to meet us! I thank God--I am reaching for myself! Several improvisation/vamp sections follow these lyrics: "Pray, pray, pray, pray--you ought to pray sometime!" "Sing, sing, sing, sing--you ought to sing sometime!" "Shout, shout, shout, shout--you ought to shout sometime!"
Im a latino Apostalic Pentecostal this is the way we have Church. Glory to Him! Awesome atmosphere, I would feel right at home. I found this song first on a other video when POA sang it, of coarse they couldn't do like Dr. Moss do. It's all about Lord Jesus!
That Lead ....throw back saprano....three part!...Oooooooooooo up the mountain HayyyyyyyyyyaaaayhhhhhhhhHayyyyeaahhhhhhhhhhayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
WE need to go back to this type of singing. i know they call this old school, all the old heads are gone and Solomons son and his crew has taken over. I know some young person is not going to like what i said. But thats ok
Wonderful! This took me all the way to church this morning! Made me miss my singing alto in the choir days un my teens. Where has this type of heartfelt spirit lifting singing gone! Bring Back These Days!!👏😁👏AaaaaMEN!!!
@VFJ2010 I'm young and I know exactly what you mean. You shouldn't judge a whole generation. Last time I checked God is still saving souls and some of those souls are young.
Hezekiah Savage well Madame Watkins was one the singers the girls listened to frequently when they grew up ... alongside LaBarbara Whitehead and Rose Marie Rimson Brown
I am trying to find a song by Mattie Moss Clark and the Southwest Michigan State Choir "Show Me the Way", released in 1968 on Savoy. Can anyone help me.
Us Directors & Singers could learn a lot from Dr. Moss...
The first sopranos are killin'.
I was walking up Stone Mountain and I was listening to this song to motivate me to get to the top. I conquered it ! 🔥🙏🏽❤️💪🏾
Climbing up the mountain
Trying to reach the top
Almost finished my battle
Gone halfway and I just can't stop
At the end of the mountain there is faith and trust
I can see Jesus standing there to meet us
I thank God I am reaching for myself
Nothing and mean nothing beats this sound. Real authentic gospel. People say everything must change but not always for the best
Dr. Mattie Moss Clark who gave us the Clark Sisters no one could direct, nor compose a song like her she will never be forgotten.
