    I must tell ya'll that I heard this song for the first time when I was probably 21, and this song ministered to me then. When you want God to something it doesn't matter, old school or new school, the point is that you are sincere, and for some reason Mattie Moss Clark's music has something in it that reaches inside you and gives you chills, such as this song!!!!

    Praise God! This is a classic by Dr. Clark... I have the album that this song is the title..it was on the Kapp label KL-1258; Kapp Records, Inc. N.Y., N.Y when the album was recorded Bro. Eugene J. Potts was the director and is given credit for organizing the State Choir for Southwestern Michigan in 1959... at that time Dr. Clark was an organist/composer and listed as soloist on the album Mrs. Mattie Clark. This album also featured Rose Marie Rimson & Barbara Whitehead

    loaactnow....
    I'm a musician and I teach my choir DIVERSITY. the importance of DIVERSITY in a choir is that you must be able to sing all types of religious music. Hymns, Anthems, Spiritual, Gospel etc. I tell my choir to not be selfish. There are plenty of "old School" people in the church. We have to sing songs that will MINISTER to every age within the church. From children to seniors. Just teach the song and watch God move the people. and I'm 25 plus.

    Come from a baptist church singing both hymns&contemporary gospel. Now attend a pentacostal/holiness church that believes in the power of older songs like this one,as well as contemporary forms,so I can closely identify with the need for diversity-in knowing the origin. It IS important to know what works best for each church; however,sometimes,feathers must be ruffled,in order to progress. In your case, loaactnow, I suggest you pray about it, &depending on how God leads you, teach the song.

    I can recall being at Baily Cathedral COCGIC at the Annual State Holy Convocation and seeing Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark with the Southwest Michigan Choir. I can recall her embarrasing Karen when Karen was trying to hide out in the audience to avoid singing. Mattie out her on blast in the mic and called her out. "Karen get your behind up here!" LOL

    The album I have in my collection states the following on the album cover.. Lord Do Something For Me... Mrs. Mattie Clark's voice rings out "at the Altar", crying "Lord Do Something For Me"... The cover of this album is purple and gold with a photo of the choir the caption under the photo The State Choir of Southwestern Michigan Church Of God In Christ... this album is very old and the back cover states that at the State Music Convention in 1959

    I understand what you're trying to say for the most part,but I just wanted to say that I believe the message of GOSPEL has remained the same-to uplift GOD-but the way it's relayed-the trials experienced-is what's different.Bestdirectress2b may be correct in saying that newbies are not aware of the songs you know,but can't the same be redirected in defense for the newbies?All I'm saying is that everyone's message to GOD is different,and what song you may not feel can get you through,others may.

    I understand...to a degree what you are saying but I wouldn't totally agree...honestly, who would this song reach in today's time...except for someone who is already saved and also knows this song...I think we forget that GOD/Jesus and the holy ghost wants all his people to be saved and this is not going to catch the unchurch youth...and as much as people want to throw this "new gospel" as ppl call it away...U must look at ministry and what GOD wants...if they talking about HIM it's all good.

    • @Hervinbalfour
      @Hervinbalfour 7 лет назад

      VonsOwn I know this comment is old but it's still relevant. Since when did God need to conform to the world in order to reach souls? This kind of gospel music was.sung in the church for over 50 years and it never conformed to adjust to the world. This music is holy and should remain so. Not secular or wordly. God calls us to be separate. Not to be conformed to the ways of the world. Young souls were being saved to this type of music and this sound can still win souls. All that hip hop and R&B sound is of the flesh and of the world. Satan has greatly altered the gospel music industry. Most gospel artist of today aren't making music to win souls. They are making music to make money and achieve fame and fortune.
