- Good Morning Friends! I'm happy to share 5 different handmade book stack ideas. I will be using IOD transfers and stamps. I'm also including a couple of fails because those happen a lot even though most of the time on RUclips we edit those out and make it look much easier and successful than it actually is. I hope you enjoy and this video inspires creativity.
I get all my IOD supplies from The Purple Painted Lady. shop.thepurple...
Thank you for giving credit to Julie’s. Thank you for sharing successes and failures.
Very lovely. Thank for the inspiration.
LOL I see your getting better after watching. Nice.
Thank you so much for sharing. I loved the last two the best. I haven't worked with clay yet so hopefully that will be a future challenge for me. :)
And to release your moulds, your best bet is to use Cornstarch in your mould first. I think you said you used baking powder.
I did actually switch to flour the last night and it worked better. I know I have some corn starch but could not locate it. Thanks for the tips and subscribing.
@@susieonthefarm you're very welcome 😊❣️
The air dry clay book stack is my favorite❤️ The texture is beautiful👍
Thanks!
Loved it!
Thank you so much Glad I stopped to watch. I bought air dry clay to try but haven’t done it yet. Appreciate you showing your first time struggle. Helped me so much. Today I did my very first book stack Now I think I’ll try another ❤🙏
Yes, as the previous comment said, it must be CORNSTARCH. I went back to make sure I heard correct, you said you use baking powder - it must be the baking powder instead of cornstarch, that caused you problems. I also have great success using baby powder(talc) in the mould. But I love all the books tacks. Thank you for sharing.
I’d like to take you over at mom’s home and pick some puzzles. She had already mod podged them together and as you know she would frame them. She crafted a lot and I wish she could have known you and Granny as welll. They would have loved you. Your daughter-in-law❤️❤️
Heath told me about Memaw puzzles. I wish I could have known them both too! I hope I am doing them proud.
I loved all of them! I appreciate you showing the process of the clay molds….. yes sometimes people make it look easy and I’ll be messing it up the whole time☺️
Me too! All the time.
@@susieonthefarm were you using baking powder to prep your molds? I know it says to use cornstarch...might help. Susan in FL
This is the first time I've come across your channel. I think all of your book stacks turned out so pretty! I smiled when you mentioned Julie's channel; she has become my favorite DIY'er.
Thanks for watching! Julie is my absolute favorite too!
Love all of these beautiful book stacks , but I must say the lavender last one was my favorite 💜
All these book stacks are gorgeous! I saw on a video that when you have difficulty removing the mold item that you can put the mold in the freezer for a few minutes and it will pop out. I haven't tried it yet. Thanks for sharing your work!
My favorite book stacks were those with the moulds (I love using white wax) and the rub-on transfers. They both turned out so cute.
Like the clay one best. From video I have seen I think cornstarch & using less clay try rolling into a snake the press into mold. I’m just getting into molds but this works for me. Love what you have done thanks for showing mistakes
The book stacks are adorable!❤
❤ that you show fails!
You did a great job!! I love them all💕💕
Thank you!
Great ideas and I love the simplicity
Love this! I have the clay molds and I was thinking it was probably the clay and for sure not you! I love the clay on the books, but actually I loved them all! Thank you for shafting!
I had a small half round table that was gifted to me! I made some of the molding and put it around the edge of the table top! I had fondant cutters and I cut ivy leaves on the front of the three legs! It is painted white all over with chalk paint! I have not waxed it yet! I think I may just is the antique wax! I may try to put a little light color on the leaves and antique the leaves also! Thank you for sharing! I love your work!
1st you need to use cornstarch not baking powder and 2nd what clay did you use? DAS is best in my opinion. You can get on Amazon. Hope you try again! I like where you were going with the book stack.
The clay was bad. I got some IOD air dry clay and used corn starch and the molds work perfectly now! thanks for watching
Just joined and enjoying very much you have a huge farmland in America wow! ♥️🏴 England show us your stall please would love to see what it’s like.
Thank you! I have a whole playlist of my booth- ruclips.net/video/Yw9ODxH92bw/видео.html
Very beautiful! And i like that you show several styles
Thank you.
Thank you! 😊
I love all of them
I have heard that if you put it in the freezer for 15mins they pop out easy. Also use a scraper on instead of your finger . Amber is correct about the molds. But because you already own the molds I would try the freezer thing. Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you! Great tip that I will try next time. I already ordered IOD clay and I'll be getting their molds as well. Thanks for watching Brigitte!
Thanks so much for this! I've wanted to do some of these. I appreciate you sharing your hurdles with us, too. 🌞
The first time I tried it, the clay was new but really sticky and stuck in the mold. I have no patience so I threw it away and got another brand which worked. I learned later that some clays have to be worked a little before going in the mold. Best to use cornstarch, not baking soda. I love your books with the castings. Gorgeous!
I have gotten better at it for sure. I do think that clay was messed up. But since I started using IOD, I haven't had any issues.
@@susieonthefarm I suspect the IOD clay is superior but many people like DAS. I've been using sculpy brand and it works great. We all get better as we go along! I just have to remember that I don't have to be perfect the first time I try something new!
Love all of them 💕
Thanks!
I also use the IOD molds with micro rim. No fail. They also work by poring resin into mold
Awesome thanks for sharing 👻
I love your book stacks! So creative!! I have worked with air dry clay and moulds for a long time and the issue was definitely the clay. I’ve never seen clay that was so sticky like dough. I bet the heat and humidity affected it. Don’t give up on air dry clay….it’s such a wonderful enhancement to your projects!
Thank you! It definitely was the clay. I purchased some of the IOD air dry clay and it works like a charm and I love using it now.
I’ve also seen people use corn starch to help release it. Not sure if the baking powder does the same.
@@amylawrence4882 Yes I have since figured that out and I got some of the IOD clay and moulds. They work perfectly every time.
Yes ma’am they sure do!
Yes yes it's corn starch to prevent sticking.
They turned out Lovely TYFS and thr inspiration. (Pauline S)
thanks for watching Pauline
Also be sure and use titebond glue when applying wet clay to books.
First time watching your channel. I love all your book ideas. I love Julie also. You might want to try using the IOD molds. They have a micro rim and they are wonderful. Will enjoy watching all your wonderful videos. Thank you again for the wonderful book ideas.
Thank you! I have since started using the IOD and I love them. So much so that I became a stockist. Thank you so much for watching!
@@susieonthefarm I watched the video you did on the paint inlay’s on the lamp shade. It was beautiful ❤️ IOD is a wonderful product once you try it you are hooked. Will be watching more of your videos. You are very inspiring.
I can only watch these videos. I wish i could afford to do some of these crafts im finding.
Sometimes just a little paint will elevate so much and it's pretty inexpensive. I find painting small objects relaxing too! Thanks for watching!
HINT: Also slide the mould in freezer for just a minute or so before removing clay forms it up for easy removal.
I wonder if it was the baking powder. All the ones I have seen used corn starch!
Yes! I have started using corn starch since then and it works. Plus now I use IOD moulds and air dry clay.
Airdry Clay needs corn starch!
Get the Daas air dry clay or IOD clay and no problem. Put the cornstarch in mold, light coat.
Yes I since have became and IOD stockist and I love using it. Thank you for watching!
You might find that 220 grit sandpaper or a coarse emery board (Dollar $1.25 Tree has some good ones) will leave you a very clean edge on your book stack edges (or any mod pudge project). Just file downwards, not back and forth, so it won’t loosen your glue.
You need to use corn starch not baking power in the mould x
Yeah I figured that out later. Thanks for watching!
I fellowed u because of you show t the stuff that goes downhill
😍👍
A couple of things, friend... try using IOD moulds and not ReDesign with Prima. IOD mould have the micro rim on them which makes them SUPER easy to use and also I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the IOD Air dry clay‼️ It is by far the best Clay on the market and I promise, you will not have issues at all. It is professional grade Clay. Just a few tips, I am loving your videos ❣️
I have heard many people say the IOD molds are so much better quality and easier to use. Before I got too into the molds I was trying to go the more inexpensive route. I will for sure be ordering some IOD soon because I love this look but really did not like the frustration! Thank you for watching!
@Susie on the farm I love the look of air dry clay mould. Your mould came out do beautiful on your book stack 😍
You would go better to use modpodge or Elmer's glue to glue your books togather..let dry..they will stay togather better
That clay looked like pizza dough. Has to be to hot or humid and working it more is just adding more friction and heat. Anyways ty for the process tho very cute and very creative
It was definitely the clay. I have not had any issues since replacing it with IOD air dry. Although I think any clay would have been better than that. Thank for watching!
Transfers
Pva glue I mean!
I thought you used cornstarch instead of baking soda
You're right. I may have said it wrong.
👍🌹❤️
Скажите, пожалуйста, каким клеем Вы приклеили на книги лепку? 😊
Gorilla glue
Is mod podge the same as ova glue?
I'm not sure. But it's like a spreadable medium.
I see im alittle late responding, but i have never seen clay do that.
I think it was the clay. Or I was really new then.
What do you sell these book stacks for.?
Usually around $12
Are you supposed to use baking powder?? I thought it was baking SODA???
It's actually corn starch. I don't think I had any back then and wasn't really sure what I was doing at that point. Thanks for watching Debi.
Do you have a link to IOD?
Hey Sheila, Thanks for watching. I get my IOD supplies from The Purple Painted Lady. I put a link in the description box of this video. Thanks for reminding me. I should have done that already!
Those molds don't work, you have to get the IOD molds with the micro rim
I have learned that. Only use IOD now. Thanks for watching
You are using the wrong Clay and molds. IOD are the best molds with the rim.
I agree, I finally got the IOD molds and clay and it was amazing the difference!
