1930s Metalcraft Light Up Coca Cola Delivery Truck Restoration

- Опубликовано: 21 ноя 2020
- I purchased this 1930s Metalcraft Light Up Coca Cola Delivery Pressed Steel truck on eBay August of 2020. It was in great shape for its age outside of much wear and tear. The headlights would not work and the tires were extremely cracked. I've been looking for this truck for quite a while and was really excited to add it to my collection. Coca-Cola.

I’m surprised that the bottles still exist, but making the bottle caps was bloody brilliant!
the fact that all of those bottles are still intact is truly amazing!
I love the fact you filled the mini Coke bottles with real Coke instead of colored water. That made this restoration all the more special. Great job!!!
There is a spiritual peace and wake up call coming from your videos: what a joy to see somebody taking care of restoring nice toys from the past.
Spiritual ?
It looks like the lead paint did wonders preserving the metal parts. No pitting and minimal rust (except for the front grill). The polished wheels look amazing. And the bottle cap fabrication! Is there anything you cannot do for your restorations including filling the bottles with REAL Coke? INCREDIBLE job! One of your VERY BEST considering all the effort you put in to it. Beaker agrees.
Классная машинка и супер работа мастера по восстановлению! Браво! 👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹
Amazing work! The sheep and the cat are something else, give a nice touch to the experience!
It floored me when you filled each individual bottle with classic coke. Not only was that a classy rebuild but a more than real extra step. Nice Job!
@@EXCEDRIN10 And no one said that the restoration is for sale. It is clear that the author is restoring for himself, for his collection. Each video as a masterpiece
@@EXCEDRIN10 You might be wrong on this.
Tbh I don't think it will decrease the value, it might even add to it.
When you compare the scale of the bottles to the scale of the rest of the car, it looks like as if an entire family could drink every day for a whole week from one single bottle. And I love the new bottle caps. Nice job, Chip Channel Restorations!

I love the way. He plays with them by hitching to a tow truck😊
Most impressive! You even put the “real thing”in the bottles. OMG! Fabulous,- I love it!

But that has high fructose corn syrup, not sugar
I want that! My mom was a collector of Coke collectibles, I got the collection after she passed. And I still add to it. Things that I think she would of wanted for the collection.
Wonderful. My dad bought me red truck as a child being a girl but I loved it, the kindergarten got it.
Браво! У Вас золотые руки. 👍
Incredible workmanship Chip. I really like the sheep in your toys.
Your resto work as always is phenomenal…but the best thing that other resto channel can learn from you is showing the lead test as you do consistently so your subscribers who want to try this at home will learn to be more safety conscious! Thanks for all the history you have saved !
To be this old it’s really not in that bad of shape. Outstanding restoration! Beaker is so cute. ❤️
Yeah this one is more of a survivor. I wonder if a cleaning and minor touch up might have been the better course.
Had lead paint though. Better to do a complete restoration I think

Honored Beaker's request and subscribed - this was a masterpiece! Love seeing old toys come back to life!
That is so cute. You did a fantastic job on that. The tops came out fantastic. I once saw a little wooden crate with all 12 bottles and they were still full at a collectibles shop. I'm so sorry that I never bought it, it was a bit pricey for me. I love anything and everything that is miniature.
OH MY GRANNIES !!!! I LUV THAT TRUCK. I'm 71 yrs. old and I have a Coke cola room . I have NEVER seen anything so perfect. The way you redid the truck was AMAZING. I will be looking for old Coke trucks. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents. Ms. Dusty Houston TX
Oh God that poor sheep!!!
She is OK :)
Those sheep are soooo mistreated! LOL!

Do you think when Chip started his journey as a toy restorer, he ever thought he'd find himself hand making 10 miniature bottle caps?

It amazes me with how old some of these toys are and after these restorations they will last another 100 years.

Oh my gosh, the bottle caps! That was brilliant! Thank you so much for posting, you always do such a great job. Take care - stay healthy!
Do they lose their value being restored so much ,its a shame prefer to see the life they had ...the years tell a story..
@@susangilbert4512 Two schools of thought - restore to new or all original. I like seeing them restored to as-new, a rusty, scratched toy is good for nothing but sitting on a shelf gathering dust and having old people look at it. Seeing them restored like this, look great on a shelf or better still, good for another 100 years of play 🙂
Were do you find all the old toys
Absolutely incredible! You have a great eye for detail, wonderful supply of stock, a lot of good tools and the passion to bring it all together! Very skilled and detail oriented! Splendid work!
I love ur coke truck. The coke formula is different then what it was long time ago. Then it was made with real coke
Yeah I'm 83 . I love your channel Chip !
You filled the bottles with actual Coke? Now you can say, "It's the real thing."

But I did not see him sterilize the bottles

I would’ve used maple syrup instead but then I wouldn’t have over restored the truck in the first place
ahahahahahahah
I remember those miniature coca-cola bottles. In the 1970’s, when I was a kid and collected antique and collectible miniatures, I had one but I didn’t know it was for this truck.
The ones for this truck are huge compared to the case of miniature bottles of Coke my grandmother had. The original original formula too. She would allow each of her grandchildren to have one bottle when they came to spend the weekend. She told me she saved that case so that she could let her grandchildren know what the original Coke tasted like. The memory has faded much (I'm 65 now), but as I recall it, no Coke formula since then has the same taste. For those who don't know, I'm talking about the original formula that used Cocaine instead of caffeine. The bottles were about 1/5 the size of the bottles on this truck.
@@asarand cocaine was removed from Coca Cola in 1929 so you were not tasting Coca Cola with cocaine unless you were drinking some VERY old stale soda! The difference in the original flavor and the recipe today is the pure cane sugar. Coke today does not taste as good as the original since they started replacing cane sugar with high fructose corn syrup in 1984. I’m sure that is what you remember about that original Coca Cola you drank as a boy.
@@asarand Every year, in springtime, there is kosher for Passover coke sold. It has real sugar. The bottles have yellow caps.
@@chappy675 You just couldn't leave the old guys Grandmother memories alone. Now she's a liar and he's a dummy. But that's ok as long you feel smart.
@@janbaer3241 Also, Mexican Coke uses cane sugar. Hawaiian Coke used to use it until the last sugar plantation in Hawaii closed.
Wow, that authentic period EverReady battery, I only remember them being blue, sometimes black, but never white!
That was really some toy when it was new! And it is again, I love it.😍
I think this is my favorite restoration. I love Coke vintage things. Glad the sheep is ok.
Need to make a little bottle cap opener to go with the tiny bottles!
I have never seen this model of Metalcraft Truck with lights and batteries, I found the other models without lights...
Excellent work friend...
Wow. The catspector's first appearance? Nice!
This was nothing short of artwork and artistry. Incredibly beautiful.
Thank you Chip for your fine videos and I couldn't help but wonder how many of our fore fathers died because of lead poisoning and their ignorance of it back then.Be safe and keep up with your awesome vids.
I liked the movement of the Coca-Cola glass, I expected it to be empty.!🎉😂👌
I love all the tow trucks that you use, being a former tow operator it's cool to see, and I did see what looked like a white dodge tow truck just waiting to be done in the first few seconds of the video during and after the tow truck picked up the coke truck, and I also noticed another coke truck
Is that a rare Coca Cola artifact? Gotta be a collector item
Every Coca Cola item is a collector's item. 😆
@@EXCEDRIN10 Actually no. This mans restoration and techniques are done so well, he definitely increased the value. You will never find one in brand new unoxidized condition. I can GUARANTEE you, this truck would easily sell for $500-$1000. In the condition he had it before, maybe $100. Original is cool and wanted, but this mans skill is so good and close to the original using genuine handmade parts, that it doesn't matter that it's been restored, because it's authentic.
@@EXCEDRIN10 that's not what you said. You said he ruined the value to a real. Coca Cola collector. You said nothing of other markets....stfu with your lies....your own words are literally in your face and you lie. Lmao
Didn’t intend to cause such a feud with the comment…he is an absolute artist and a cool dude! Enjoy the show 😎

The sheep gag is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
Love the little, "I'm Okay!" lmao
True, but I was a little disappointed when he didn't scrape the sheep off the road with a shovel then put it in a frying pan to cook it up.

Lovely cat
She's a sweetheart. Always has to be involved in anything I'm doing. Thanks for watching!
This has got to be the best of all you've restored because you did a spectacular job, I love Coke, and the bottles are real glass. I would have painted the bottle caps red. I also love any type of VW buses, campers, and vans and would love to see you restore some of them. Your junk yard and parking lot are fabulous! 👌

Imagine if you got a Coca-Cola sponsorship from this video
Well if he isn't sponsored by coke, he's gonna get sponsors from his sheep.
Coke probably doesn’t care, if people don’t drink coffee, or tea then they most likely drink coke.
Sponsor-sheep!
Man thats the Best restoration Ive seen in a while congrats hello's from mexico
Hello Chip, now this has been my dream sense I was a little girl. The first time I saw one I told everyone that would listen, that I was going to have one but that hasn’t happened. You made the best move when you put real coke in those bottles it was the diamond on top of those bottles very awesome! I know you said you wasn’t going to sell any of them, but if you ever change your mind about this one, please consider me and make a dream sort of come true!😊 great job! Have a blessed day!

Wow! I really love this, so beautifully restored. The little Coco-cola bottles add touch to the truck. Its brilliant idea to insert the real coca-cola drinks inside those bottles! I love the light-bulb headlights as well! Good Job, thank you for sharing it here. From: Singapore. :)
Just a perfect job. You treat all restored parts with care and skill. Really amazing!!!
The way you kept its originality and perfection. Hats off to you.
I think Beaker could actually smell the Coke. Beautiful restoration.
Cat nip or treat under the toy I bet

I would like toys like these to be made again. That was my dream. To make toys like these .
Tolle Arbeit,. erstmal die Deckel für die Flaschen Herstellung und am Schluss die Flaschen mit Cola gefüllt
Even modern toy cars miss having headlights.
That ended up beautiful even Beaker thought it looked beautiful too.
Amazing that all the bottles were there.
My mom would have loved this. She collected coke stuff. I wish she was still here so I could show her this video. You did a beautiful job. She would have been delighted with it.

My grandpa used to have this same toy truck. In fact, when you did the wide shot at 30:05, I recognized several of them.
Didn't think you were gonna get to this one Chip! Outstanding job, as usual!👍 Original bottles?? That bottle cap fab was pure genius!
Man, they didn't mess around when they laid that original paint down, did they!?
It almost seemed a shame to dissolve it off. It was in really good shape.
The paint had lead in it. Which is not safe for humans.

What I want to know is how the driver of that truck would have ever been able to carry just one of those bottles into a customer's shop. :0D

Coke unveils new 30 litre size lol
The bottles are going to be bigger than the driver
Must of lost the dolly that's usually on the back if the truck.

For being 90 years old this truck was still in amzingly good condition ! But you brought it back to mint !!
Beautiful Job ❤Once again ,Just amazing ❤️Love the wee Soda bottles ❤️❤️❤️Coca cola would be proud of you with this , Especially filling the bottles up with yes Coca cola ❤❤❤love the headlights working with Batteries ❤️❤️❤️
Beaker is too precious! Loved the way she gave your coke truck a going over. Just wondering, after filling the coke bottles, did you toss the rest of the Coke or did you toss some ice and rum in and enjoy it? I have to admit that admired the way you made the bottle caps. Another great restoration!
Aside from the beautiful restoration.
It's the bottle caps that impressed me the most.
Would have used color water instead of the "real thing" just to make it look darker.
Same here. Fabricating bottle caps was not something I expected from this video. And, while I appreciate the authenticity of using real Cocoa Cola, I would also have used caramel colored dye in some water.
@@andrewolson5471 Where does one get caramel colored dye? I think it was easier to use Coke.
@@gregr3720 I'm sure caramel food coloring is available from almost anywhere that sells baking ingredients.
