1930s Marx Wyandotte Searchlight Truck Restoration
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 авг 2024
- I purchased this little Marx Wyandotte Searchlight truck off eBay mid June of 2020. The truck was missing its spotlight lens and the battery retainer was completely rusted out. Everything was dull and the paint was worn down. As soon as I saw this truck, I knew I had to have it. I hope you enjoy this restoration as much as I did. Thanks for watching!

All these restorations remind me of a time when children not only used their imagination to play, but their play consisted of things that were useful to society. Ambulance, search and rescue, tow truck, fire, even trash trucks.
I must be really old, because I find myself bemoaning the fact that kids don’t have to play together anymore. They just have to have a device that does their imagining for them.
Thanks for rescuing these relics of bygone days❤️
I can't be the only person surprised that there were battery powered light up toys in the 30s... These must have been the coolest thing!
This has been one of my favorite Restorations. I was WOW'd by the complexity of the Searchlight for a Metal Toy built in the 30's held together with rivets and bent tabs. Beautiful Job!
I love the last minute. The line up.. you can imagine a kid in 1938 having those..
and then the sound of the train REALLY makes it seem like time travel is real..
I can't understand why 9 people would give a thumbs down that was a great restoration. John
Your sandblasting is far better than others on RUclips that do the same thing. The paint and rust come off very clean.
The only question raised in video is what Chip used to cut the tin/aluminium with ☺
Mm let me see.....
I like it....
@@Archiemonty
Dollar Store scissors 😉
@@Tim-57 I see that usually people use the right tools, tin-snips (a.k.a.: metal cutter) for cutting
So good to hear children having fun and laughing, it makes for a happy family :)
Getting better and better with each project.
The master craftsman at work. Truly, truly, a joy to watch every second of the video. It's like watching Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci at work.
I had the white tow truck as a kid in 1968. Tons of fun!
Very nice restoration. i appreciate rejuvenating and fabricating needed parts much more than purchasing replacements. Hat's off to you.
Excellent! Such attention to detail. I really like your "junk yard", so many projects, so little time!
As much as I love the Tonkas, which I got into restoring as well, you've made quite a niche for yourself with these Wyandotte and other awesome 30s toys!
Looks great. Never seen a light truck before.
One of your best yet! There is NO WAY this truck looked this good when Marx manufactured it new.
Idk Marx was pretty good
EXCELENTE TRABAJO !!!!
Cada vez te quedan mejor.
En algun proximo modelo, podrias probar de usar un LED, solo para ver como queda.
Gracias por mostrar tu video y que todos lo podamos disfrutar.
Excellent restoration! The high-speed portions of the video really help move things along as well as adding a bit of comic relief! Thank you for producing these restoration videos for us.
Excellent work. Beautiful truck
Love your restorations! Love the sounds of the kids playing in the background and the train horns!
A beautiful job on this Wyandotte . You did this truck justice.
Stay Real.
It was'nt that bad. Kinda nice original
The golden age of tap construction! Lionel tin plate trains from the same period really kept the tap-benders busy! Quite a bit of design went into these neat toys...I can picture dozens of ladies bending tabs on the a Louis Marx Assembly Line! The beautiful restoration is better than when the little truck fell into Jr's little hands!
Looks fantastic well done.
That truck is so beautiful! I came onto youtube to watch Renée Fleming singing, but got caught up in this master craftsman's work. So skillful, and the videos are beautifully done. I kept checking the time line, hoping it wasn't nearly finished... Thanks.
This was very nice. As much as I appreciate you returning it to as close to original as you can, part of me wanted you to replace the bulb with several high wattage LED bulbs, a good size battery and a little vinyl batman sticker over the lens.
Смотрю на работу мастера. Понимаю что машинки так в магазине не выглядили, как делает мастер.
Браво мастеру!!!
The best toy restorer I've ever seen. 🇧🇷
Excellent restoration. Original color. I like that you keep them original. Love your auto boneyard...and the sheep.
Great restoration job again👍
I admire your desire and skill to restore these old toys. You are preserving a piece of history. I am glad that you have the time, talent and equipment to save them. I have a CNC plasma cutter and I could have made the part for you but you did a fine job. Keep up the good work and nice videos. 😀😀😀😀
Think about putting an 'Oscar statuette' in the green utility box as an extra- incase a movie star forgets the one they were carrying around. I think that this restoration is one of my favorites!. Your skills and craftsmanship is unmatched!
Amazing video as usually thank u
Fantastic! Well done!
Your total attention to detail is nothing short of incredible. The replating of the nickel items, etc. is great. Thank You for what you do and for sharing with us.
Your attention to detail and craftsmanship are exceptional. I am anxiously waiting for the next restoration..
Amazing Work!
You are my favorite toy restoration channel. 1930’s design was brilliant. And your restoration is impeccable. Thank you for preserving these gems.
Well done. Gave new life to an old thing.

I love listening to the sound of the tools!
Такая маленькая машинка и так много деталей, соответственно и работы! Один прожектор чего стоит!
Ваш труд - высший пилотаж! 💜💙💚
Огромное спасибо за видео! 🌟💥⭐
Outstanding restoration amazing as new Chip!
What a fantastic project. Keeping the original colour. 👏👏👏 I also love that you go to your “scrapyard” to collect your next “fix-up” 😁

I was thinking it would be an amazing night light for a grandchild.

awesome car, great work ! A lot of work went into this little beauty , it's beautiful, great Job!!!
Finally, some who knows how to restore.
WOW I have no words to describe this restoration. Truly amazing.
Very cool. What a simple and clever way of operating the light, too.
So satisfying to watch the transformation. Now it's better than new!
Excelente trabajo amigo como todos los de más saludos desde Saltillo México
This Chip channel episode will definitely; bring back the memory of when I use to work at the 350 Encinal Drive Goodwill industries, back then in late 1987 to mid 1988. This is where I used to work on a Graymark electronic project; that required a one-face PC board parts components assembly, which belonged to a toy tracer robot 🤖.
One of the best resto I’ve seen!
I never get tired watching your restorations! Fascinating to watch and so satisfying once they're done! Thanks for saving these precious and amazing toys!
Thanks to bring my chilhood back again. 🙌🏼
I like watching your restoration on chip channel
Another beautiful piece of work. God bless u and family.
A brilliant job! Beautiful choices for paint, chrome, replacement parts, sandblasting and powder paint! Great technique and a beautiful finish! Super little truck!
That box would have made a great spot for a little sheep 🐑
That spotlight was pretty nifty!
Hi Chip,I hope you’ve had a good day? I truly enjoyed watching this video. Now you have another pretty truck to add to the fleet! Thank you for sharing with us. Peace Out!🤟😎
This was well worth waiting for. Thanks Chip 🙂🛠🚗
In a word..."IMPECCABLE" !!!!
Kind regards, Ben
Splendide, merveilleuse restauration💙💙🤍🤍❤❤
Very nice! Super cool upgrade on the axle as well.
Wow love how it came out. I like the new axles. Circlips keeping wheels in position and holding axle in place. Outstanding job. I would like to play with it a bit if I may. Lol
The restoration is top notch. I love these old toys you are doing.
"I want different axles"
Or put it another way.
"I make new one"
Nice restoration.
My *Mechachips* 😂
That searchlight itself is a tiny work of art❤️
love when you rebuild the parts
🥇 j'adore cette restauration du travail de grande qualité , bravo 👍 👏
I just love watching these . You do an amazing job saving these toys.
Another great restoration! Love these toys. Brings back great memories!
A little tip...paint the inside of the light housing chrome. The light will be brighter....
The tabs holding the battery holder in place...bend out instead of in so they don't mark up the battery when it is in there...
Chip, This is fantastic.! As someone who restores old cars (currently working a 1948 Chevy truck) I can truly appreciate the time and level of detail involved. This must have taken you weeks to complete. The just shy of 30 minute video does not tell the whole story of the time involved. Now time for me to go to the garage and get my butt moving on my own project.
Beautiful restoration!
Excellent restoration, marvellous to see you bring all these old toys back to life, regards Doc Cox.
Another very well done project! As stated before, your attention to detail and creative methods for replacement parts, such as the battery holder, are always a pleasure to watch! Thank you again my friend, very enjoyable!
I love that the Heinz truck with the double battery clearly looks high powered in the lineup. lol
Seen lots and can’t wait to see more. You’re quite an crafty person.
Thank you I really enjoyed watching this
I've seen many restoration channels, but here the thing is from another level (Perfection)
Congratulations!
Just think that this reborn toy was the apple of some youngster's eye so many years ago.
