I purchased this 1959 Tonka Service Box Truck off eBay July of 2020. It was in perfect shape for a restoration and overall in great condition for its age. At some point in it's life the ladder went missing and the holder for the ladder was some how ripped off the toy (Quite impressive). I was extremely happy with how this amazing restoration turned out.
Let me know how I did in the comments!

This is the first time I watched this on a larger screen than my phone. A total delight watching the transformation from rust to shine. I like the way you constructed the ladder hanger and the metallic finish on the truck is beautiful! Gotta put this one into the Hall Of Fame for sure, Chip!
Thank you!!
This Tonka truck is from the same year that I was born. I did have some Tonka toys as a kid and it's a treasured part of my childhood memories and sparked my imagination when I played with them. Not many toys were built so well that they would outlast a childhood and could still be appreciated two generations later. Thank you so much for restoring some of what is so worth saving and would otherwise be lost to time and rust.
This channel has now become a staple of my Sunday mornings. Thank you for teaching me each week.
These toys are all absolutely beautiful. The craftsmanship and care that goes into them are indescribable. No wonder they are so sought after and admired. I can bet that if you were to give this to a child nowadays they would love them and treasure them forever. They need to start making things like this again. These are quality products that never go out of style. The restoration work is incredible as well and the gentleman doing the work is an absolute artisan and skilled genius, period.
One of the reasons men love building things like real wood furniture and remodeling work is the reward they get from watching the customer's face and reaction
Just a very beautiful restoration
Very nice truck! Love the metal-flake blue, very well done! Your usual high level of quality finishes & attention to detail show through as always! Very enjoyable, thank you for the entertainment!
Very. Sweet 😌. Love. The. Blue. Nice 👍. Work. Brother. Lee
Nice job. I love that color!
Beautiful job! It gives me a warm feeling to see these toys being restored to like-new condition. It gives me the feeling that not all of my childhood is completely lost. The sand blasting works amazingly well for removing rust, the bane of these old steel sheet metal toys. I love that you paint all sides of the metal, even those that will not bee seen, which will make this restoration last longer than the original toy. It's also wonderful that you have a source of wheels, tires, whitewalls and hubcaps. Very nicely done.
Nice job
GREAT paint job! I'm glad you salvaged the windshield so easily.
What a great restoration. The color is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful restoration. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful outcome Chip!😁
Absolutely awesome. Beginning to end. The paint job was incredible.
What a beautiful job!
Omg ! I Love it. These 59's were hardy Vehicals. Even though this is a Tonka toy My Family has a 59 that we (My Parents an 6 kids) moved from Missouri to Texas in. Lol ! Lots of fun. My Parents an 2 younger Brothers are gone now but my Oldest Brother has it now. So as I jabber on just know You did a Fantastic Job on this Truck. Your work is Great. Stay Safe.
I like that you paint the toys the near original color.
My brother had a lime green tonka dumb truck that he would always met me play with my brother sharing his toys with his little sister is something I'll never forget.
I really liked this video. Love how the clear coat made the blue really pop.
Nice job very nice 👍🏼
I think this is one of your best. I love the color you chose.
I like the sound of items...nice work 😉
What a beautiful collection. You must be very proud. Just wonderful. Thanks.
you did a great job restoring the box truck.
Love your work. Keep going!!
Lovely looking tin toy well done.
Excellent again.
Beautiful! One of my favorite toy restoration channels!
You blasted me right back to 1959. It's saturday morning. I'm eating Sugar Corn Pops and a glass of Cocoa Marsh. I am watching Howdy Doody and then Deputy Dawg and Andy's gang. 1959 ahhhh.
Very cool. I really like the metal repair. The paint drying was really cool. It's my favorite car color. For my personal preference, I kinda like the original blue to keep the retro look. It's not a criticism, when restoring to original, that what in usually favor. That does not take away any of the awesome work. Such a cool video!
Thank you for watching! This is one of my favorite Tonka trucks. It's always soo tough to decide between factory colors and new ones.
@@ChipChannelRestorations 9/10 of the time new ones look better
Oooo. I love the flake paint. Beautiful job as usual. ♥️
You are the best restorer on RUclips. I would like to see the flat bed soon.
G'day greetings from Tasmania Australia beautiful restoration and lovely colour terrific, always like watching you restore these toys they alway come out looking new. Regards John, fantastic collection they would be a bit of money as the companies probably doesn't make them anymore.
One of my favorites you’ve done!
Found your channel recently. I love watching as these toys are given new life. Some remind me of my brothers hand me down trucks..
A really beautiful restoration and fabrication. I just restored a Dayton, so heads up....it has lead-based paint. The end result was a real work of labor, patience, and art. Best wishes and stay healthy!
Beautiful restoration. Good call on the metallic. 1959 was the year Tonka introduced metallic paints into their colors. Oddly enough I'm working on the exact same model at this time. Just painted the service box last night.
GREAT!!!!! perfect restoration, Chip.
Nicely done !! Well done 👍 !!
OMG Duc Phuc , i like your cover version. Love it !

Dude, well done. I gotta tell ya I really dig your restos. When I get my shop set up I'm gonna start doing all of my old ones from when I was a kid. I really like the lighted ones.
Fantastic as usual. I love the color and the attention to detail is impeccable.
I love the dark red truck at the 25:26 mark. The new color of this build is great.

Awesome restoration as usual....
Nice one love the replacement blue
Love the paint finish on this one good mob
Once again it turned out great, it will look good on display. Can't wait for one I saw in your scrapyard the tan and orange Girard wind up.
That is one very loverly transformation 😀👍👍
That turned out really nice seems like that blue is darker than the old blue that was on it
Sandblasting the welds was really cool.
I had one of the service trucks like this when I was a youngster, way back when. Good memories.
Great job. Congratulations on a restoration done well.
Simply the best. Well done.
I`m literally watching paint dry on youtube.
Great job man!
Awsome...👍👍
Brilliant as ever. Love the metallic blue.
Hey Man, I am playing catch up. So these videos are a year old but I had to comment. Your restorations are impeccable. 🏆
I'm weak for a rich shiny blue. ♥
SOO KOOOOOLLLL.
Awesome work as always.
Like new all over again .
Mike Espo .
Blue, I'm soooo blue! Very nice job of giving this hard working truck a makeover. Can't believe that Tonka did not put a flip-up tailgate on this beauty.
Chip , it looks like on video that you missed a few spots on the pink primer. (Around the cab/bed box joint). That funky color may give that impression.
Love from Scotland amazing work 😊💖
Realmente es un gusto ver los videos .manos mágicas ..!!
Beautiful truck
Thank you!
Super pretty blue
It is amazing what all you can do. You have some awesome tools. What a great job.. It looks incredible. 😺❤
