I like Chris but I feel he's got too much of an anti-ev agenda. As an owner of an r35 gt-r and a tesla m3p, I can't understand how people can't see the advantages of both. I 'venture' that I have more fun in the m3p as it's got more usable, instant power which can also more than handle itself around corners. Then roll out the ice cars for whenever you want some drama 🤣
I think at the end of it he's basically got the same stance as Cammisa, just expresses it differently.
200 HP EV hatchback? Perfect grocery getter and tool for embarrassing people between stoplights.
Thousand horsepower 2300kg sedan? It's an experience the first 3 times and then you'll never floor it again unless it's to prank your friends. It becomes the ultimate "fast car driven slowly" situation where it's just not as fun as the slower alternatives.
The model 3 is of course somewhere in the middle of those extremes, and probably just slow enough to still be fun more of the time.
Chris just seems to like being more insistent about the pointlessness of these 1000+ hp machines (and to his credit he pretty much does the same thing with all the new overpowered gas hypercars too).
Jesus that’s fast!💨 all you need is wings and that thing will fly!👋😂👌but add up another 300hp on that Dodge and it will literally smoke the lucid😂

@@jessimanzanarez8849 The lucid air is a direct competitor to the plaid. The Gtp in this video makes 1,050hp and over 1000 ft lb of torque. That's why the charger got smoked. The charger is fast no doubt... but 1000+ on tap with awd is just worlds faster.

@@isserdigan2835 Max power is limited by the battery capacity, if you have enough battery to do 1100hp you can do Lucid's 2x 550hp or Tesla's 3x 350hp or Rivian's 4x for the matter.

It actually floors me that in one minute, they went from a standing stop to one end of the track, turned around, and made it all the way back to a standing stop at the other end.
$90K less… and that sound from the Dodge!!!! OMG!!! I’m a 52 year old American and I just bought a Charger R/T Blacktop. The Lucid is an outstanding piece of machinery and technology. But I’ll take the American V-8 since it’ll probably be extinct during my lifetime.

For me, the biggest thing I have against almost all dodge videos is that none of the cars are running summer tires. On occasion they are, but most of the time they aren't. That can make a big difference. Not on this comparison mind you, but in others absolutely. Granted this was half the price of the Lucid which means I won't likely ever have one unless I wait a decade and try and purchase a used one. I also think the Lucid is ugly. Not for me in the looks department. I'm not a huge fan of the looks of the Charger either, but it looks better than the Lucid imo. Still a very entertaining video. That Lucid is ridiculous on straight line speed. The look of pain on everyone's face when they are launching that thing makes me laugh every time. Best of continued success for the show! Great great entertainment and information about the cars!

350hp more + AWD isn’t the only reason it won, electric motor instant torque is real and it is crazy
@@nothere572 Instant torque is more of an everyday driving thing. When you're racing, you're always in the engine's powerband, unless the gearing is terrible. Even at launch you can build up the revs so you get all the torque your tyres can handle.

First of all this car looks to be quite a bit larger on the inside, and secondly Tesla has not proven to be reliable. Those cars eat drive Motors way more often than they should. Enough so that they got rid of a lifetime warranty on them because too many people were cashing in.

At full charge. Lost 10% after a couple passes. An afternoon of racing the Hellcat will still have 800 + horsepower and the lucid will have a dead battery.
@@HEMGATOR I had a Tesla Model Y and was never worried about range or charging time until I took it on a road trip. A medium break of about 20 minutes will get you about 200-240 miles at a level 3 charger. Only got rid of it because my short commute and fuel costs vs car payment didn’t make sense.
Some day I’ll be getting another one when the used market calms down.

My Lucid showroom here in San Diego recently received their two test cars. My appointment to test drive was a couple days ago. Although I wasn’t able to drive on a track, I did get to spend 30 minutes behind the wheel and it is fast, very fast. The car is quiet, smooth, handles like a dream and is extremely comfortable. Can’t wait for mine to arrive. Thanks for your vids as yours was the one that sold me on reserving one just before the price increase!
New cars, especially the electric, they seem like rolling laptops that drive you. One can even see it in this video, how one of the hosts (driving the Lucid) mentions he forgot he was driving it during the race. Maybe I'm just getting old /shrug

Its intimidating to know that EV's actual power is limited to suit the human body. They are capable of worse that their own tyres can't handle. 0 - 60 in less than 1sec will be inhuman, their torque is instant.

There is no doubt that you’re the absolute best car reviews content creators. The Production development is off the charts. Its like watching a movie, but one that you actually love every single scene
I REALLY wish you uploaded more frequently because you never fail to deliver grade A entertainment.
But if they uploaded frequently, would it still be grade A entertainment? It takes a lot of time to record, edit, and come up with funny intros. I'm not really disappointed in their rate of production. Good things are worth waiting for.
@@dougrobinson8602 Yes but when you have such great chemistry between the two hosts the entertainment comes naturally. Case in point, Throttle House Extra is it any less entertaining? I'm not suggesting daily uploads but what if they uploaded on Sunday and Thursday? If they filmed more content releasing a Part 1 and a Part 2. Especially when they have Jason and Chris on. Then when they review 2 cars have a head to head and release the review of one car on Sunday and the second car on Thursday with the conclusion. Then they aren't trying to rush out content just making more from their content.
Quality over quantity
Comparing electric to an internal combustion is like a robot fightinf a body builder. The robot has all the advantages. The EV is exactly that an Electric Vehicle where as the Hellcat is a Car. Im amazed that everyone still acts suprised when it beats the car. Electric motors are essentially acting as instantaneous superchargers. But without the engine to receive the gains.
the Jailbreak is a better deal compared to the Lucid, The Jailbreak starts at $87k and the Lucid is over $200k

I drove the Tesla S Plaid recently and did 50-80mph over and over in it, and I was unprepared for the physical forces, even after a life of driving fast cars. So I can't imagine this.
Lucid, Tesla, Rivian, Alpha, Ford, etc. are proof that America can produce good things again.

But that's all they have. They certainly don't have drama or emotion. All they have is speed. If that Lucid was exactly the same in performance, nobody would buy it over the Charger because it wouldn't be fun.
You can always save yourself bags of money and get the single motor Lucid. To it's credit, the Lucid here seems to have brakes that can haul the vehicle to a stop repeatedly. The Plaid really needs carbon brakes.

This has been the best race showcase for the Lucid Air that I've seen so far, by far. I think it's definitely in the Plaid's league as it looks faster than the ones that I've seen pitted against the Plaid thus far. Whatever the case, it's made better and I'd take it just based on that alone. Looks better to me as well,and I actually like the Model S. Unfortunately I don't have enough blood or sperm to donate to be able to afford either. 😕

Not really. A 1050 whp Charger on an unprepped surface will still get murdered due to wheelspin. A 1050 whp Trackhawk on the other hand would be very interesting.

I love my 3 pedal gas car, but driving electric performance on daily roads feels like you’re in a UFO. There’s nothing like flying around these roads around gas cars and coming home to charge up for pennies. I can’t imagine needing anything faster for a daily than my Model 3 Performance and the Lucid blows it out of the water.
They’re going to have in increase speed limits at some point. My M3P feels planted, safe, confident and controllable cruising at 125 mph on an open highway in a quiet precise way that allows me to fully concentrate rather than feeling on edge with that sweet beautiful screaming exhaust that I both love and makes me sweat over 100. Electric is just precise and simple - these new drivers are really going to have to learn how to handle there speed
That's exactly why speed limits should not be increased.
For a good driver, I would say going faster is not any more dangerous, as your senses are heightened at speed, you're more aware of your surroundings, etc. But the average person has shown they are not a good driver. I mean, you can simply look around you. Plenty of people are just unintelligent and unaware people; they have both hands on the wheel and are staring straight ahead, yet can't stay in their lane and aren't even going the speed limit. Another huge percentage of people think using their phones while driving is okay. I'm gonna stop before I get angry, but you get my point. If you don't, you're one of those drivers.
I've been trying to think why I'm apprehensive about the whole EV thing. It's not the environmental thing, because I do believe once you get over the initial impact of the battery production, over the life of the car the carbon fooprint is reduced long term. The sound thing is true for me, but I can just not buy one, and I don't care what another human purchases as it's their choice. What I feel I'm honing in on is that even with the cheap EVs, people have gobs of power that they didn't use to be able to have. The reason that makes me apprehensive is my previous paragraph. Too many poor drivers, and when you combine that with ridiculous power and speed potential, I feel like it could get quite bad.
Now, I'm not set on being right, as even before EVs, people did stupid things with cars. Look at all those people crashing out after leaving cars and coffee. Tons of power and the inability to understand how to feather the power in to avoid spinning out.

And no, a true car enthusiast will NEVER think “I don’t need an engine sound anymore”. And yes, I have driven EV’s, including fast ones, if that’s what you’re thinking. Not Lucid fast, but 650 hp fast, for example (Audi RS e-tron GT).

Not one who likes to cry foul but I would have preferred Chris in a 1000hp tuned ICE car vs the Lucid for a true 1000hp ICE vs EV shoot out or perhaps Chris in an SF90, I know that will not happen at a snap of a finger but I would love that.
