- A monster mash of big powerful brutes has arrived at the Throttle House drag strip. The 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 ($125,898 in Canada starting, $110,295 in the US), the 2021 Durango Hellcat ($114,345 in Canada starting, $82,490 in the US), and the 2021 Mercedes-AMG G63 ($211,900 in Canada starting, $157,500 in the US) are all lined up for a dig and roll race.
Each vehicle is ready to show off their manufacturer’s own flavour of big heavy speed, and attempt to prove that they are the fastest quartermile rocket on the drag strip today. Thomas has the Hummer. James took on the Durango Hellcat. Karston is piloting the G63. Which will be the fastest down the strip? Things don’t always go as planned during a drag race! Never thought I'd see a Durango listed as the lightest vehicle in the group.

G63 is heavier, it's true because this guy has an insanely reinforced platform that is just as strong as beams used to make houses to withstand strong impacts and not just like the normal ones. And Durango, he only has a thin steel plate wrapped around and a normal platform that is not as good as g63's. Hum is heaviest, true, look at his size and that amount of steel.
Did not expect the G-wagon to be just on the heels of the Hummer EV.
And how ironic is that the "Watts to Freedom" mode still hit a restriction? Hellcat confirmed to remain the true Freedom™ beast.
The hummer is still super heavy. Much much more than the car, that is in a class of it's own according to Thomas

@@kingsgarage938 It’s an awesome box on wheels that I believe has bundles of character. Squats under load, Goes like stink (respectfully when up against other vehicles, almost), performs phenomenally than it looks like it has any right to, etc.

@@phantom0456 it’s Absolutely more off road able then the hummer. The weight alone limits the Hummer badly, and the battery would mean it cant go far at all off roading.

That Hellcat Durango is no joke. A true beast that shows what a Hellcat Engine is capable of doing when hooked to the ground via AWD.

Problem with the helcat and the Hummer is the inability to bypass fuel and charging stations.

That Durango is a weapon! I was sold when it walked the Lamborghini Urus.
As an SRT owner I love the Hellcat, and of course the Demon. Dodge did such a great job with the SRT. Making dreams come true.
They sure did. The Hummer was a disappointment. I mean they really hyped this Hummer up in the ads.
Technology wise, it’s a cool piece of engineering, but that’s it for me.
@@mackfar27 I have the 09 Charger SRT 8 Superbee. It's the 6.1 @ 425 hp. Nothing close to the Hellcat but it has a lot of get up and go.
The Hummer looks good. I had no idea 9k lbs good god that's some weight. I guess all those batteries and copper weight a lot. I'm glad to see Hummer come back. G Waggons are cool but wow super expensive.

On factory tires, there's a good chance the Durango or trackhawk would win. They're heavier yes, but I wouldn't be surprised if in a real world scenario the AWD launch may be enough to lock it down.
The AWD does it with such finesse. No lurching, tire smoke or engine screaming drama. Its almost electric smooth acceleration.

You'd need an Heavy Goods Vehicle licence to drive the Hummer in the UK. Mad.

You should need a HGV license to drive it anyway. These massive vehicles shouldn't be in the average persons hands
That thing is really atrociously heavy. I’d be curious to see if on import you would need to apply a limiter for example. In Germany normally all over 3,5t gross weight vehicles get limited to 87 km/h but the G 63 6x6 for example I think didn’t get that. And I saw loads of influencers and youtubers driving that thing on public roads who I doubt have a truck driving license

I’d race it with my RSV4! I suck at launching it but I think I’d still take that Hummer. Crazy that I’m not actually confident that my 200 hp and 450 lb super bike could beat a 9000 lb truck in a drag race! But like all EV’s, there is simply no soul to going fast with no audio. I don’t care how fast they make them, I still get that golf cart feel in any EV I’ve ever driven.

@@TheBowerbird of course it would, by a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if he lost 10%+ in charge after that pull. Tesla models s will only do two runs before overheating the battery and losing over 50% charge

You need a lot of juice to move that heavy thing around. Tyres will probably explode if it stays above 105mph for a long period of time

Really impressive for the G-Wagon to be only just behind in the drag race, considering its off-road performance - which none of the other vehicles can come close to. If I had the cash I'd love a base G-400 D, better still the Government/NGO/Rescue/Special Ops version!
