Using citrus, lavender or pine oils deter bugs. lol I use it instead of bug spray, discovered it when I ran out of OFF & found diffuser oil and used it… it worked!!😊😂. I was the only one the black flies were avoiding. 😅

Trent, I can only imagine the brain fatigue of planning, leading and then doing all things build. Mental fatigue is much harder than physical fatigue, in my opinion. You also are days away from baby geek. That in itself is excitement, worry, etc. Simplify and prioritize your projects and please ignore negative nellies in the comments. You’re building a compound while building your family, while employing a crew, expecting a baby, while being a husband. Whew. You got this chief.

A major course I self acceptance, self discipline,, hard solid consistency of work,, purpose, learning at tbe very east. Also, in my opinion, big time shining example of love between couples,family, friends. Pure golden entertainment and solid life examples. ALL OF YOU!
They’re always is a tipping point on projects like that. I bought an old house and did a lot of work with one of my brothers but finally decided to have the finish work in the bathrooms and the kitchen done professionally. It was the right decision. You’re tired. Mistakes happen. You’re living in chaos. And I didn’t have a baby on the way! Give yourself some grace.
All I can say is, Leo is sure growing up fast! He can actually hold conversations with everybody! Wow! As for the construction part of it. I think Trent can do it. He just needs reassurance! Stop worrying so much, Trent. You got this!

From a Lady who built several cabins in the Alaska wilderness, the both of you have got this, the addition is coming along. You have a crew who are very willing, helpful, knowledgeable, good people, and they got the both of your back. You are getting there, the both of you have taken raw land and there a home, a three car garage, an upper apartment, and now an addition to your house, and you have the stories to share and tell, that’s the good stuff, and the house you all own in town, totally kool! You both got this together! And you both are doing this with a child and another one on the way! Put your life in perspective, that’s amazing and really awesome and the both you are sharing it with all of us! So you both got this together and everything is coming together, for the families home. And home is always were your significant other is at. And that’s lovely and the good stuff! As a long-term solution for drainage next to the stairs, a proper French Drain would be a better solution than a trench.
You can't so that before the finishing phase of the project. When it is mud, you do what he did.

I totally agree, he also needs 10plus truck loads of 3/4 +/- clear crushed and pvc perf/filter cloth for his yard to get all that water away from his foundations , it’s really important!
On a hillside it has soooo much hydraulic pressure from that water runoff 😳😳 it will force water in places you would never suspect!
@@stum8374 it isn't landscaped yet. Its not to level. They can't put that in, it will just fill with mud. Lol. The mud is going to come, it is the mountains. They can't do hardscape yet. 🤦♀️ there is no pavement there or finished rock retaining walls, or even. Proper bedding for gravel or grass. They're in CONSTRUCTION phase. Not finish.

I have no knowledge of construction, but watching I can understand how you would be overwhelmed. They’re so much that is contingent on some thing else. But I think the best advice is the same thing that everyone gives, one thing at a time and don’t think about the big picture so much, knowing that you still do have to think a few steps ahead just think that far or about what you’re working on now. It will all come together. You all are quite talented and I have confidence that it will be amazing when it’s all done and you will have a wonderful home for years to come! On the days you feel defeated remember that all of us out here are rooting for you. We got you, push through! ❤

Your doing great, Trent. We built our home it takes ALOT of brain power. Try not to be to hard on yourself. Not many people can say they literally built there home with their two hands. You should feel very proud 😊
If you sprinkle cayenne pepper around the floor and entry points of your excavator it will totally keep the mice and/rats out! Can also be used under cupboards and covered areas where mice enter homes, RVs and any vehicle. Works like a charm, you just don't want it in the open for obvious reasons with animals and children.
It does work but he will need 5 Resturant size shakers. Lol. But it does work. Copper wiring loose style works too.. Barn Cat ( spayed). The cat can live in garage in winter as it’s heated. Definitely as barn cat.
Trent you don't give yourself enough credit for your knowledge and ability to learn. It may be not a fast as a professional builder but it's getting done. Besides you have Allie, Brandon and Grayson there and y'all make a great team.

Awe, C'mon Trent, put in a French drain to drain the run-off around the garage. Don't need much, just make sure you miss the Propane lines, and you should be good to go. For clarification, between the porch piers and the tanks.
You guys could really do with a a French drain all the way around both parts of your buildings to get all that water run off away from the property. Because it looks like both buildings at the back and sides are very close to being clay mud baths. It will really help with getting rid off the snow melt from the back entrances from main build as well as the garage and best of wishes to both of you for the baby when he’s ready.
I had to pause the video and say that Trent and Leo in the big dirt dumper are going to be memories for the little guy for the rest of his life. I cherished those just watching and know you guys did too. Prayers to ya!
Have confidence in yourself, Trent. The longer it takes, the more episodes of Trent and Allie! My mother says, isn’t It lucky that no matter what happens. Try it. It works like this. “Isn’t it lucky that we had so much trouble with installing the bathtub.? Now we are going to have Jason do tiles instead.” Whole new outlook on life.

My brother in law build their first house. Back in the 70’s. Beautiful home, but so much work on top of owning his own electrical business. Building a home is definitely for the young.

Loved watching Trent and Leo, brought back many fond memories of being with my Dad on construction sites. He built everything from houses to roads. The biggest one you'd know is I-75 in Kentucky, I miss him so much. You are making beautiful memories for Leo ❤

Been Renovating for close to 40 years and Trent is completely correct, renovating is more work mentally and physically, your making new fit old …..problem solving tearing apart but not deconstructing so much that you cause yourself a problem it’s a very fine balance,and then re-building …. New construction is way easier 🤔😁
Trent, how do you eat an elephant?..... one bite at a time. I know you can do it. Your right to focus your time ⏲️ outside because of the outrageous snow in your area.
Stay focused, and if you don't finish the outside this summer. Maybe in the winter you can finish the inside then next summer finish the outside along with landscaping.

Trent, stop and look at the wonderful HOME you have already built! Then look at the spacious addition that is equally as wonderful and you should have no worries about how this story will end. You are just exhausted. But one day at a time and you will have this huge project completed. Looking good.

I like the idea of coming off your front deck with a walkway to the deck you just built. Cool idea! Think Leo might be a heavy equipment operator when he grows up, great moments with dad that he will never forget.
Yes, remodeling and interfacing with new, is always the hardest. But we all have faith in you Trent and the guys!

I’d close in under that back deck, even if w/just plastic panels for extra storage w/plastic flashing underneath deck flooring to shed water/keep under deck “storage” dry. Might store a mower, wheel barrels, yard hoses and alike. Would keep a few things out of ur garage.
