Love seeing uncle Randy in video. Would love to hear uncle Randy and Doug’s talk about how farming was when they were young age. How equipment has changed in their life time.
@@kentalstat8024Ivers Farm is awesome and yes having the older generation carry a camera and talk ayehsr they are doing, how it’s different is fascinating. Seem to be good people, huge operation too
They raised hogs up until the late 1990s. Difficult to compare that to grain farming. Dougo does battle with skin cancer constantly due to the tractor he drove as a teenager. A tractor much older than him with no cab.
I am very impressed.Chet of the amount of the knowledge that you and your crew have specially the technology you guys use on the farm,God bless you and be safe. I really enjoyed the video.🚜🚜🚜🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The variety of your videos about farming are the best. Though i will never be a farmer, your channel teaches me what todays farm is all about. The amount of equipment needed for various projects required. The diy attitude from years of family farming, and not having to pay outside of your own crew saves money, allowing purchases of that equipment. Years ago, working for a large Calif hwy const co, when the bid was made, it always included piece(s) heavy equipment to keep the "tools" updated. Im seeing the same at Larson Farms. Moral....you can teach an old guy new things, even if he never uses them. Thanks!
I have to say, I have been watching your videos from the beginning and they have become so full of info and great stuff that people have no idea what you go through to run a farm and be productive and be safe, god bless
Love watching your videos. I’m from Alaska and have enjoyed seeing all your hard work on this channel. Farming isn’t my gig but your work ethic and attitude draws me to this channel. Been watching since the beginning and have enjoyed all the upgrades you have done to the farm. You always give God the glory and a shout out when things go good. 👍 Keep up the hard work and great content.
Make sure you check the gear box's while there on the ground to be sure they have gear oil in them at the right level, beats climbing all the way up there!
It sounds like you have a strong connection to Uncle Randy and Doug and their farming experiences! Hearing them talk about how farming has evolved from when they were younger could offer fascinating insights into how much technology has transformed agriculture. From manual labor and simple tools to modern machinery and automation, their perspective would provide a valuable look at the changes that have shaped the farming industry over the years.
Very cool and what needs to be done to be on top of the competition. I can only say, never forget where the farm came from and I know you have a vision for the future. Cheers and God bless.
Are you guys becoming an independent grain elevator, all you need now is a train car setup and you would be in business. I love watching you guys grow, granted the tornado kind of moved it along for you.
I follow all the time but fell behind a bit, getting caught up today. I must say you guys are remarkable in your knowledge of all things on the farm! My goodness you're even dirt'olygist 😉 but I mean hey the stuff you plant in is dirt so I'm sure that's a required course lol. Chet, how old were you when you were first working on the farm? I don't mean full time, I mean just going to help out. It would be awesome if your mom and dad have home movies of a very young Chet out on the farm learning. But I'm gonna give props to all you boys on the farm. Y'all can each jump in and do anything!! So BRAVO🎉 Give yourself a big pat on the back 👏🏼 God Bless you and keep you safe!
A couple of grain bin observations/comments. Years ago, Dad sold and erected Behlen grain bins far smaller than what you have. The air plenums from the fans were actually constructed into the concrete floor. Only the drying bins had a full, perforated floor. Also, wouldn’t tube or belt conveyers be more efficient in close to horizontal applications and inflict less damage than augers? Do they take more power?
Chet if you go back many years that was the style before the augers were made. It was paddles on a chain that ran inside a tube one way and on top of the tube for the return. It is weird how things revert back with a little twist.
Thanks for another great video Chet and crew. It was most interesting and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for showing us around the new grain bin setup. Most definitely interesting. That is one huge grain bin. Lot of technology built into that bin. Neat setup. Huge motors on those fans. Wow. Will be nice when all done for your corn harvest yields. Thanks Chet. You all have this tile pipe laying process down to a science. You have the right equipment for this and all of you know what to do. Even have uncle Randy in the process. Yeah. When you are done with this field you should have the water problem fixed. Nice work everyone. About it I guess. I find that new grain bin setup most interesting. Lots of technology there making that all work. Lots of dollars invested there. Enjoy your chicken wings. That will be a fun event I am sure. Easy on the beverages. You all take care. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
I have had many years of experience with those tube conveyors. I hope you have better results than I have. My opinion of them is that unless you have a somewhat liquid product, the stress put on the tube is excessive especially with grain
Couldn’t tell, is this the largest bin you’ve installed? It’s nice that you’re installing the bin this time bc you needed more storage & not bc the others were destroyed in a storm.
I watch all of your videos and I enjoy them all. Chet and Dougo remind my dad and I. What is the soap you use to wash your equipment and where can I get it? Thank you!
Fascinating about the grain bins. How many bushels does the new bin hold? With this addition how many bushels in total can you store at the farm ? Great video. I learned something. 👍
Hey Chet Did you and Jean Mary separate or get devorced? Miss seeing her on your channel, you two are so great together. Take care Hoping for a great harvest for you!!
Well back in the 60s we had the big bins..4,000 bushels..times have changed...they say today's combines can do 4,000 bushels per hr...guess are 4 or 5 corn bins would filled in half a day...thanks for the content
but the reason this is happening is because you need larger and larger farms to be able to break even on global markets. Small farms just cant exist anymore, which i think is really unfortunate.
When you realize that the technology and elements of the grain bin dates back to the former Roman Empire. Some Two Thousand years ago. In using the concept of a "hypocaust". Except not for heating but for cooling and ventilation. A hypocaust (Latin: hypocaustum) is a system of central heating in a building that produces and circulates hot air below the floor of a room. The word derives from the Ancient Greek hypo meaning "under" and caust-, meaning "burnt". The ceiling of the hypocaust was raised above the ground by pillars, called pilae stacks, supporting a layer of tiles, followed by a layer of concrete, then the floor tiles of the rooms above. Hot air and smoke from the furnace (a fire) would circulate through this enclosed area and then up through clay or tile flues in the walls of the rooms above to outlets in the roof, thereby heating the floors and walls of the rooms above. These tile flues were referred to as caliducts. Without posting the background information. I may as well have been using a hammer and chisel to write this. In having its context open in hopefully understanding.
Well Chet I saw Legarm’s hymn in his new bin a few years back time for you to show them up. A little star-Spangled Banner would be good about now.🇺🇸🇺🇸🍿
Every time I see you poking a frozen meal, I think of that trip you filmed long ago to F2F and the very late night meal you microwaved adjacent to your parents’ hotel room.😂😂😂
fan designs have to balance volume and pressure, so likely this fan is designed for more pressure, and makes up for the lower volume by spinning faster with the larger motor. at least thats my speculation.
19:26 curiosity what about all the little teeny holes all the way around on the floor are they supposed to be there for venting or do they plug them off before they put the floor in.

Think about putting a winch on top of one of your platforms. It will make lifting repair tools and parts much easier and safer. Use a swing arm boom.
Seems wrong to have a wench do all that work. Chivalry is dead.
Looks like Dirt Perfect II, modern Tech Knowledge is something else and for a farm to be doing something of this magnitude is amazing.

All bins I see at grain sites these days have full air floors.
