You said a lot of people stopped listening 25 minutes into the video. Quite the opposite. Stayed for the whole thing. And been binge watching your videos from 4 months ago to present today 12/1/2024. can’t say enough how much I appreciate your insight, knowledge, and dedication to instilling confidence into us for investing into Pokémon. I’m 2 years invested into pokemon at this point and I wish I did more research based on your wisdom. I listened to and read so many resources in the beginning that made me lack confidence and stress about if what I was doing was right. Made me sell a lot of what I have and made dirt change. Some losses/some minimal gains. Ended up keeping a good amount for my collection for a long term investment and I’m looking at my value of items and seeing all of my SWSH items are 100% up. Thank you so much Alex. I truly appreciate your dedication to us and I’m happy about your success story to investing into vintage and getting that huge sum of money to help set you up for your family and life. Very inspiring video
Build capital with the hobby, and dedicate the revenue towards building more capital and/or commit some of the gains towards investments. It has been such a sllloooooww grind for a paycheck to paycheck guy like me. But after a year I now have a closet worth about $4000 in unrealized gains. Can't wait to see what 5 years can do with the same grind! Thanks for inspiring us to build and grow the hobby. Catch 'em all!
Absolutely! Unfortunately the things that work are usually not the quickest. Glad to hear things have started to compound for you and you're seeing success!!
SORRY but... NONE knows how the market will be after years. Cards at the moment cost thousands of euros or dollars UNTIL a utuber starts a new trend and prices will return to... Pre corona state: MAX 100 euros for every graded charizard bla bla. WHY none of those experts didn't know before Corona that prices d be like 100 times more?😂 A genuine question...
i started a bulk account on TCG player this summer using most of the stuff i learned from you and Eli. I have 30k cards live at the moment and it can be a lot of work. what is crazy is how everyday i learn more and how to refine my process and make things work for me. i did just start allocating some of my funds to buying a few cases of each release, some i open at release and list all the cards, some i flip to friends and contacts that i buy bulk from, and some i hold for investment plays. This channel has helped me with all of that. Thanks Alex
3rd comment on this video now that its all done. This is by far thee #1 best and most informative video about making money in this hobby i have ever EVER seen. That was a crazy amount of info you just walked in an dropped. No animations, no fluff raw knowledge. Fuckin love it. Way to go man. Subbed
Even when it's info I've heard from you in the past, the reinforcement/reminders are still just as helpful. No doubt that grading can be intimidating at first and your gem rates might be low (like mine were). But once you get more experience, those gem rates really do start to increase (like mine did). Then we can all sit back around the campfire with our double bacon cheeseburgers 🍔 and our chocolate milkshakes laughing about how bad we were when we first started out.
@@justinalexander4166 me too, but I just recently won ALOT of $$$$ lol so im definitely blowing a fat wad on getting atleast like 20 graded. I don’t even care, I just need to pop the cherry!!
I’m all about the slow grind for unrealized gains. I’m slowly building an inventory to stash in a corner. Never once get worried about selling it right away. I love seeing and holding them because I love Pokemon; and I’ll love to watch it be shipped off in the future.
I'm treating this hobby like a mutual fund. I buy booster boxes of sets that i think are good cheap. Then i wait 5, 10, 15, etc years to sell. I also collect cheap booster packs to sell in bulk in the future as well. Currently buying up costco bundles to get crown zenith etbs, and 2 tins that contain 4 paldea evolved and 5 silver tempest packs. Open the tins separate the packs and stockpile boosters.
30 minutes in still watching man. I watch all your videos as a relatively new investor. You've done the hard yards and been through it all. Your opinion is INVALUABLE. Keep it coming my man. Double bacon cheeseburger choc milkshake!
This is great information Alex. Thanks for sharing, ❤❤❤❤ 1. Put in the work 2. Be consistent 3. Be patience 4. Time will give exposure 5. Exposure will give experience 6. Experience will help you grow
Everything you buy a booster box or 2 to open, buy a couple and keep them sealed. See what the prices are doing with the boxes. Buy a couple more boxes when it's cheap to open and buy a couple to keep sealed. Then when the box prices skyrocket, dump your sealed ones for a premium. The opening is the fun part but also the most costly trying to get lucky. The money is in the sealed stuff.
It takes hard work to be in business and stress. But just do it and learn and grow running it. There is alot of information out there that can assist you in getting it up and running. I started my business in July and I finally made profit this month in September. It's small but hey it's profit. Alex said it There is no secret! You need to find your sources and form your company through your state. Yes there making slim margins very very slim margins.
Double bacon cheese burger comment. Excellent video, with many things in line we think there is a magic bullet, some arcane secret but often things are down to simplicity, consistency and not deviating from the plan! Do you have any videos on separating collecting vs investing? For fans of the hobby sometimes the lines can be quite blurry :D.
Good job Alex , I’m one of the 5 that made it through the video , joking , a good investment strategy is watching each one of your videos more than once , then it really sinks in , awesome advice
Mannnn how I would’ve loved to have come across your channel early on when I started collecting. So much more I would’ve saved on unnecessary purchases due to FOMO unfortunately. But glad I lasted on this campfire talk and ready to get that double bacon cheeseburger with a chocolate milkshake
Ive noticed over the years the biggest hurdle, struggle, whatever you want to call it is selling. Everyone starts in this "omg i am going to be losing 13-15% on every sale" the key there being "going to be" because they havnt sold anything. From someone that went through that exact thing, just sell some stuff. Heck, even after just like 10-20 items for some people, maybe 25-50 for others. You start to really get and see....the long term mindset/perspective...? Not really sure if thats the term im looking for..... That will help solidify your belief in this and really set in stone a longevity. Its not a hard thing to do, its incredibly easy actually. The discipline to follow through is the hardest part in this hobby. Just like Alex said. Your biggest regret should be not buying more. ** ^^^ to clarify dont buy out of your reach though. Start where you can, putting what you can away. Its all for naught if you go too deep and have to flashsell because you cant pay your rent/mortgage. It might sound offputting but be realistic with yourself and stay in your lane. You can grow more later when you are more set up.
Have you heard what the special Walmart box is going to look like this year? Last year was crown zenith but I was curious about the pack selection this year.
I actually look forward to reprints because they offer a perfect opportunity to average down and lower my overall cost. Rather than reacting emotionally to price fluctuations…it’s just part of the game! Even though I'm relatively new to collecting and investing into Pokémon, it's clear how the market operates, It’s all about being strategic and thinking ahead. Long term growth is what really matters! I shall order a Double bacon cheese burger and a chocolate milkshake for dinner tonight LOL.
Awww man! I was hoping you’d show us where the button was on the money machine. Instead, it turns out that the secret is to self analyze and make thoughtful decisions on what we want our involvement to be in the Pokémon space. Alex, that sounds too hard. 😂 🍔🍔🧋

I will say there is a skill to mindset though. Skill is still a factor with someone's ability to be persistent so there is some skill to the idea cant factor that out.

I have no problem with someone being wrong about a product the only problem I have is when someone denies they made a take or try to revise their take after when there is video or comment proof. Just admit you were wrong about said product it's not the end of the world. For example I have had multiple conversations that I think surging sparks will be the best of SV so far and start off stronger than any other main set of SV so far. If I'm wrong I won't say I didn't say that I'll just say i was wrong and move on.
