Really appreciate it brother. Glad to hear you have been enjoying the hobby and the vids have been helping along the way. Thanks for all of the continued support!
I remember in the early 2000s buying a couple first edition fossil packs off eBay. They were around $20 each. Ended up opening them because I didn’t think they would go up in value so much. Apparently they were weighed but back then I had zero knowledge. I just thought it would be cool to rip open some childhood booster packs.
Just got back to pokemon this year because of your videos and love your philosophy on sealed and holding it long term. Been doing it for stocks For example In 2013 i bought $30,000 worth of apple shares and have it to this day. Back then it was around 450 a share but with all the splits I averaged at $25 a share. Currently worth over 250k and going to pass those shares and pokemon sealed to my kids in 40 years lol
Just discovered your channel and love the balance between love for pokemon and passion for finance! I just made the decision yesterday to start getting into collecting and/or flipping. Where and what do you recommend I start learning so I can grow like you have?
Glad you found the channel and thanks for watching. That's a hard question. There is a lot of good Info out there but also a lot of bad and it can be hard yo determine in the beginning. I would say just take in info, ask questions, and research the data on how other like things have done over time si.ilar to what you are buying. I have a free discord link in the description which is a good place to be a part of with others to ask questions and things like that.
Alex, I love your videos. It would be great if you could do a series such as starting with $1,000 and then document what you trade/why you making the plays. A lot of people would appreciate it I’m sure!
Ya I couldn't. The only problem is it would be over long periods of time with shipping and finding the next play or grading which may not make for the best content to following along with. Not as exciting as a stock trading channel lol
I appreciate your videos so much. You have impacted me on getting back into Pokémon investing. I haven't made a single $1 yet, but i hope to see a green future.
Ya the whole craze of older bigger better never made sense to me, lots of bought net the top and got burned. True investment in anything for profit was always buy low and sell high. And the best way to do that in Pokémon ? Buy pre release or at release for low, and hold it.
Crazy to hear you talking about selling a business at 25 and thinking about the financial side of your hobbies. At that age I was a complete fuck up with no ambition, working a shit job, squandering what little money I had as well as already being in debt. Man, if I could go back in time...
Did you have to pay taxes on the stuff that you sold to troll & toad? Great work btw, been followi´g you for a long time and I listen to you on my bike to work, like a podcast :p
Been following you for 2 years. You’re my favorite RUclipsr. I agree with you 90% of the time. Not always. But have always loved your videos. This is the best video you have ever put out and it’s not close. Thank you for this. Love to hear the story. Also I know short videos get more views but longer once would be nice every now and then a lot of us do a lot of desk work. Being able to just listen like a podcast. This video was just 🔥 happy for you man. And happy for us that you’re here. Cheers bro
Man. Your story is amazing. I almost feel like it could be made into a movie. I especially liked the part where you sat down with your buddy and pulled out your bin with all your collected stuff. That's the good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
@@NostalgiaNomics wow he called it a day. Do you still talk to him and does he have any regrets not continuing? Ps awesome video. Wow, amazing story. I stayed till the very end .I'm inspired to see where this Pokémon sealed investment passage takes me. I'm coming from comics and sports cards, so collecting is in my blood.
"and i went on ebay and started spending way too much money" 😂 is that a universal thing or something for people getting back into it? LOL i still can't imagine how much nostalgia in millennials will mess with pokemon over the next 10-20 years. like, can you imagine a millennial facing their death bed? maybe no kids, which is much more common with millennials than older generations, and a fat bank account. What would YOU want to do? Me? well, a lot of things i guess but cracking open another pack is pretty high up there LOL
My gf worked in a thrift shop and back in 2018 they got a bunch of old Pokémon cards donated, so my gf bought them for me for 5€. Lots of base set, jungle and fossil holos in pretty bad condition. I put them in my old binder and figured I could probably sell them in the future. I got into investing 1½ month ago and was able to trade them for 2 151 japanese boxes.

As always 👌
Would you list the packs as “light” packs when you weighed them?
Yes
As a 90’s kid myself, vintage is great but that’s to us. By investing in modern we’re investing in the next generations vintage.
💯
And the sets are incredible.
