@Scott Clark same here, I've owned one from kickstarter, never had a card even begin to "fall out" of it. This video is ridiculous. The fanning mechanism is awesome, IMO the best out of the featured wallets. The build quality is also superb, mine is still going strong.
I have owned the Akeeni for over a year and it damages cards on the edges. I have to order a new card now because it is significantly damaged. The cards are also harder to access especially the ones stored under the carbon card.
I have the carbon fiber phantom and i disagree with it having a cheap feeling,Ive had every wallet in this video ..ridge is over priced for what it is and the xtso as well, felt cheap to me i felt the build quality should be better
Yeah. I have a fantom too and love it. I have had no issues with cards falling out. I like how you can just slide the top or bottom card out with ease. Having tap on the bottom for when I fan and tap is great
I have the Fantom R and I love it, never had issues of cards falling out and like the option of an ID holder you can add to the outside, perfect for work having to swipe into doors
Same here guys. Owned a Fantom since kickstarter and never ever had a card come even close to thinking about falling out of it, let alone fall out for real. The fanning mechanism works pefectly, it's the best out of the lot. This video is BS, notice how the cards never fell out when he claims that they did? He simply hates on the Fantom for reasons known to himself.
I don't own the aviator (I think the price is ridiculous on it), but I own the other three. I have the forged ember Ridge & used it for months & loved it but I HATE money bands & clips so I didn't use either one. I rarely carry any cash so no big deal really. I think the Fantom is junk for all the reasons listed plus it is too big. That brings me to the XSTO which is my favorite HANDS DOWN. That is all I use now. It works perfectly, looks great & allows me to keep an emergency stash of $250 (two hundreds & a fifty) hidden totally away from view. I now have the XSTO in 3 different colors (the powder coat red with the carbon fiber business card cover is my favorite) & can't imagine any reason why I would ever use anything else.
@Deep Cut Reactions I actually have been talking to aviator about having one built for me exactly the way I want it. We still have to iron out a few details & settle on a firm price, but after talking to them yesterday it looks like I may become an aviator owner after all.
Well, good news :-) I am now the happy owner of a carbon fiber Aviator with a closed carbon fiber (no thumb slot) cover plate, aircraft aluminum frame & gold ti screws holding it all together. I also have coming an imola red closed cover plate (aluminum) that I can use whenever I want to temporarily change the appearance . Elin gave me outstanding customer service (something that's important to me). Although the forged ember ridge looks cool, at least for me the slide function of the aviator wins out. After using one of my three XSTO wallets for almost a year, I am now carrying the aviator & I'm am 95% sure that will be my EDC for the foreseeable future. Like I said earlier, I HATE cash clips or bands etc. but I can carry three one hundred dollar bills in the coin drawer of the aviator so that takes care of that problem....
I had the fantom and didn't like the size of it. Had no issues with cards falling out though. I went to the ridge and liked that it was as small as a credit card, but I'm not a big fan of money clips or bands, I think it takes away from the overall aesthetic. In came the secrid mini wallet. Small like a credit card, no money band or clips, able to hide your money/receipts. Clean aesthetic. 👍
@@_shvnks_ that seems to be an issue for some people. If I shake it violently, yes they will slip out. However from day to day use, Ive never had any of them slip out.
I think it’s sits really comfortably. Honestly if not for my Secrid wallets, XSTO is always my next up suggestion. Really great product and made within N.America which is nice to support local business (thats if you’re from North America ha) But yea, I don’t find it uncomfortable at all
Hi Josh, I got the XSTO and i've noticed it's de-laminated the tops of the cards from taking them in and out over the past 2 weeks since I had it, have you experienced this issue?
Hey there Paul! Thanks for taking a moment to pose a question. I have not experienced anything like this from using the XSTO. Though all of my cards (debit and credit) over time do that for me, just wear down. No matter what kind of wallet I use- Just due to constant use. I know cards these days are made sorta cheap and I find I replace (debit and credit cards) every 2 ish years. Where on your cars are you finding they are delaminating most?

Are there any good minimalist wallets that have an AirTag holder? I was going to get the Fantom wallet just for the AirTag holder feature, but don’t want it if cards will fall out. Any recommendations?
Hey Shannon. I have a video on one that I liked here : THE BEST Apple Air Tag Wallet? The Frenchie Co. Air Tag Ready Speed Wallet - Review (One Issue) ruclips.net/video/jQzfUZJSudQ/видео.html But there are a handful of good options now that AirTags have been out for a year if you poke around on Amazon.
@Shannon O'Brien like BP Perez said, cards don't fall out of the Fantom. I've owned one from kickstarter and it's never happened. Notice how in the video when he shakes them, they never fall out? I'm sure that if that were true, he'd love to show it. That claim is simply untrue and ridiculous. He's bashing that wallet for the reasons known only to himself.
Hey, you mentioned that the XSTO can carry up to 10 cards, but on their site they actually have 4 different sizes: 4, 6, 8, 10. The more they hold, the more they cost and they all look like they're different sizes. Can anyone give me any clarification on this? Thanks
Hey there brother! There are different sizes, you are 100 percent correct. For whichever size you get, add 2. I find these wallets holed two more cards than stated. So if you got the 6 capacity, that’s more like an 8. Either way you are correct. Different sizes and a bit different pricing depending on the size capacity you order. Hope that helps!!
Very biased review. Think I'll stick with my Ridge. Haven't had any problems with it and it suits me fine. Sorry to hear that you don't like it but comes down to personal preference with any of these products. Like the design of the Aviator. Think I'll be getting it next. The other two are just not aesthetically pleasing to me. Thanks for the review.
I honestly tried to be as least biased as I could and tried to focus on function overall. What gives the most use. But totally agree, at the end of the day everything g is personal preference and someone may not see it the way I do. If at the end of the day, the video maybe allowed you to realize what you liked, even if it my suggestion. That’s all that matter. I appreciate your honesty and you taking the time to comment brother. Hope enjoy the ridge and like the aviator once it arrives (:
hes gotta be getting paid to slander the fantom one, everyone is entitled to their opinion but the cards falling out is straight up a lie, i got the biggest one and put one card in it and shaked it like all hell. nothing fell out. so either its a lie or his is broken idk
Maybe mine is broken but I never do reviews to skew in a particular direction. I always try to give unbiased reviews/opinions. My favourite brand is Bellroy and I have a given reviews to some of their products and said it wasn’t worth it. Maybe this wallet was defective but it was the cheapest feeling of the bunch and the fact that cards were loose like that, I couldn’t recommend it over the others. But I definitely am not paid to push an opinion that I can promise.
@A7Xrules6661 it's a lie. I also got the biggest one and same like you, if I put in just one card and shake it like it would save my life, it never falls out. The reason I beleive he didn't get a lemon but is straight up lying is, he never actually showed us any cards falling out of it, even when he shook it. He claimed it happened when there were fewer cards in the wallet but, wouldn't he love to have shown us that if it really was the case? Especially since even the title of his video is sort of based on that untrue claim. So he is definitely lying for some reason and this "review" is BS.
This new fad of minimalist wallets it's so pathetic how disgustingly overpriced these wallets are. My dumbass bought one. I actually got a few I got some from Amazon but I was not impressed I did buy the fantom, I don't recall which one but I know it holds like 15 cards or something and I actually like it it's pretty decent and there is no way in hell I'm going to be buying any of the other ones.
There are a lot of these Ridge type EDC wallets in Amazon that are priced less than $20. If you just want to get a feel of using these type of wallets. Although I think a leather minimalist EDC wallets like the Topsider or the Houbie, both by Open Sea Leather are still so much better.
Everyone says these wallets are super expensive. When you consider that you'll be carrying it with you and using it daily it's really not that expensive. You're interacting with it on a regular basis so it's worth splurging a little. It's like a pocket knife, sure you can get by with a cheap one, but once you invest in a decent one you'll wonder why you ever bothered cheaping out. That's my philosophy anyway. I thought they were overpriced (the Ridge definitely is, considering it's made in China) but after using the Xsto daily I wouldn't have it any other way. I travel alot for work and I often go to places that require ID so I'm always flipping out my ID, a hotel key card, or my corporate card to pay for food/gas/tools/hotels etc. I chose the Xsto because of how easy it is to swap between cards and that you can keep your Key card or ID on the top to quickly get into a room or show ID. It's also Made in USA and it's still the most price conscious option. As someone who has run CNC machines, I also can appreciate the work and value of it being machined out of solid aluminum. I was originally considering the Ridge, but after seeing it in person (friend has one) and playing with it I knew I didn't like it. It's definitely the most compact and very aesthetically pleasing though. I would consider the Aviator a much better wallet design over the Ridge but I haven't personally held or used one. The Aviator is priced pretty competitive until you step up to the carbon fiber fully loaded one which is the one I would want. In the end for me it came down to the Xsto or the Aviator and I chose the Xsto because of the exposed top card and it seemed more unique that just a slab. Being able to fan through or shuffle the cards is really neat and convenient. It's all personal preference though. Personally, the Fantom is gross to me and it seems clunky but again I haven't tried one.
Honestly speaking, I was a bit frustrated with this presentation. I would have appreciated it much more had you structured it a little better. Mixing up accessories with prices was not a great idea since people differ in how they weigh utility, qualtiy and costs when it comes to their buying decisions. Prices also change over time and differ with location so giving the topic more than a brief comment for each product is really unnecessary. Also, there was also a lot of time spent on card capacity, a characteristic that may be important for some people but for most does not differentiate these products in a meaningful way. It’s also completely contrary to the idea of a minimal wallet to carry 20 cards around with you. If that is what some people need or want, fine, give it a mention. But you could have honestly pointed out the range of cards each of these can hold in about 30 seconds instead of devoting 6 minutes to the topic. On a third note, there was little insight given to whom these products would appeal, if they were well thought-out considering the needs of the target group and some really important considerations for EDC items were not much addressed at all, such as portability and how comfortable they are to carry.
I’ve had my Ridge stuffed full for several years, never had an issue with the elastic.

@Scott Clark same here, I've owned one from kickstarter, never had a card even begin to "fall out" of it. This video is ridiculous. The fanning mechanism is awesome, IMO the best out of the featured wallets. The build quality is also superb, mine is still going strong.
Very in-depth review, thanks a lot!
I have owned the Akeeni for over a year and it damages cards on the edges. I have to order a new card now because it is significantly damaged. The cards are also harder to access especially the ones stored under the carbon card.
Xsto is honestly just a great made in the USA wallet. It’s made from one piece of aluminum. I really enjoy it.
Big fan of Xsto! Agreed, they make a really great product 🙌🏼
It's a great wallet but it's missing an Apple tag holder
I have the XSTO and love it.
I’m a huge fan as well! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and share
Nice. I have a Xsto coming. I agree on your opinion on ridge wallets. I couldn’t get use to how much of a pain it was to get my cards out.
Thank you! Helped me a ton
My pleasure, glad it helped (:
aviator is hands down the best of them......have the original one for several years now. if you need capacity there is nothing better
I have the Fantom X carbon fiber is such a good one I love it and your problem is solved with the fantom x ;)
XSTO works the best. But not a fan of the look
So now my favorite order would be Aviator #1, XSTO #2 (but not by much), Ridge #3, Fantom dead last by a lot.
@@johnmorton2963 Im getting my Emola red shipped as well
the fantom is the only wallet that offers AirTag attachment
I had the fantom and didn't like the size of it. Had no issues with cards falling out though. I went to the ridge and liked that it was as small as a credit card, but I'm not a big fan of money clips or bands, I think it takes away from the overall aesthetic. In came the secrid mini wallet. Small like a credit card, no money band or clips, able to hide your money/receipts. Clean aesthetic. 👍
Did you have any problems with cards falling out. I remember seeing videos of people just being able to shake all they're cards out
@@_shvnks_ that seems to be an issue for some people. If I shake it violently, yes they will slip out. However from day to day use, Ive never had any of them slip out.
I think cards falling out is only a problem w the Fantom R. I just got a Fantom X and they added a spring to it to hold the cards in place
@@yehudabillet8145 I'm also using fantom x now. They solved the size problem!
@@yehudabillet8145 how do you like your Fantom? Did you get any accessories? I am want to get one and i am still on the fence.
I have the akeeni. Love it
Ridge is the best, I have used all but nothing beats the original innovator
How is that 10-card Xsto feeling in the front pocket?
I think it’s sits really comfortably. Honestly if not for my Secrid wallets, XSTO is always my next up suggestion. Really great product and made within N.America which is nice to support local business (thats if you’re from North America ha) But yea, I don’t find it uncomfortable at all
on the aviatorwallet- cant the coin compartment hold another credit card?
Thanks for the Aviator discount. It was all I’d been waiting for to get one.
The aviator looks a lot smaller than the XSTO. Is that right?
@@Joshua88Graham At the tops that rub along the top bar that keeps them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this :)
@@pauldavies961 Hi I have been having this issue with XSTO else its amazing wallet and hence unfortunately am back using my frenchie wallet but I like the way XSTO operates
Have you reviewed the Ekster aluminum cardholder
Hey there Bryan! I have not, i do have a video about the Parliment wallet. Have yet to just look at their aluminum cardholder. Will def soon though (:
Grip 6 has super cool hard case wallets! They are slim and fun to use!!! They also have a lifetime warranty! It's super cool!
strange how all of the wallets that come with screw drivers; all come with the same (design) screw driver...spinning head, dimpled finger pad with 4 rubber rings and are usually metallic gray...very strange. 🤔
I wish that you didn't move the wallets around too quickly. not enough time to observer the products.
I have all of these wallets 🤦♂️ and the Fantom is my least favorite for the same reasons you stated. Then the Ridge, then the Aviator. The XSTO is my absolute favorite.
You sir, have great taste than ha. Literally the same order as me. I too was really disappointed with the Fantom, but really really surprised with the XSTO. Appreciate you sharing and leaving a comment! Much appreciated
The Fantom R is my favourite the Ridge is the worst one the aviator is much better. The xsto I hate it.
I have owned the Fantom for years and agree that it is indeed the best.
Simply stopped watching after explaining the fantom cards fall out.. I've had my fantom for 5 years, they do not fall out. This guy did not even try
I give my honest reviews on what I use - I stand by what I said and what occurred. Everyone is open to have their opinions as well. And I am happy that you like that wallet. Ultimately that's all I make videos for, to give an honest opinion so people can make a purchase that wont leave them with a sour taste in their mouth. But if you have found that none of these things I mentioned are problems for you, that's really great. As that's what any purchase should lead to, buyer satisfaction. Cheers my friend
Does anyone know where the name "akeeni" comes from?
Dam I was looking to get the fantom R
Ahhhh sorry to disappoint brother. Out of the lot it truly was the worst one in terms of what you’re paying for. I had high hopes for it as well as I love the pop up mechanisms on wallets. This one just didn’t do it for me :/ Hope the video could guide you in a better direction to find another wallet though. Thanks for stopping by to comment!
@@Joshua88Graham most definitely i got the trayvax contour !
@That Flyin Ryan - Drone Videos get it. This video is BS, cards don't fall out of it. I've owned one from kickstarter and it's never happened. Notice how they never fall out when he shakes it and claims that they do? Just read through the comments section and you'll see that all the comments back this up. The guy simply hates on the Fantom for reasons known to himself
Thanks a lot for the review, but it just made realize nothing fits me.
Because I need coin holder
Phantom and Ridge stay away
Aviator too expensive as you said.
Xsto have no coins holder.
I need a wallet, not a card holder :/
Are there any good minimalist wallets that have an AirTag holder? I was going to get the Fantom wallet just for the AirTag holder feature, but don’t want it if cards will fall out. Any recommendations?
Hey Shannon. I have a video on one that I liked here :
THE BEST Apple Air Tag Wallet? The Frenchie Co. Air Tag Ready Speed Wallet - Review (One Issue)
ruclips.net/video/jQzfUZJSudQ/видео.html
But there are a handful of good options now that AirTags have been out for a year if you poke around on Amazon.
@@Joshua88Graham great, thank you!
@@shannonobrien4714 the fantom wallet is not that bad maybe it was a bad apple but I bought mine with the airtag holder and it works really well
@@shannonobrien4714
The ridge also has an AirTag holder so worth checking out too
@Shannon O'Brien like BP Perez said, cards don't fall out of the Fantom.
@@Joshua88Graham Yes! Thank you so much Josh 🤑
100 usd to functions as a rubber band, dunno
100 bucks ain’t cheap - especially these days. Can’t argue that. But rubber band?? Let’s not get carried away now ha.
You carry what you can afford
BTW-great video.
that aviator is just the ridge amped up with a window lol
hes gotta be getting paid to slander the fantom one, everyone is entitled to their opinion but the cards falling out is straight up a lie, i got the biggest one and put one card in it and shaked it like all hell. nothing fell out. so either its a lie or his is broken idk
Fantom is the best of the ones featured here, this video is BS
A better wallet would be a card deck case. So... buy a deck of cards, and take the cards out and put your "wallet cards" in the card box. Lol
I knew Ridge was WAAYYY over-rated
Way way wayyyyyy over hyped :/
Try Dango sometime
I definitely will Tim! Thanks for the suggestion and taking the time to leave a comment
Thanks for showing us truth.
My absolute pleasure! Be safe and well out there !!
None of these have a "window" for ID facing outward..
Who's designing these?
Theres accessories for that
Why would you want to shake a wallet with normal use? Are you an earthquake?
Precisely Daniel. Richter Scales cannot be taken lightly.
I will stick with a leather wallet. These thing are over priced
Definitely not a cheap venture :/ A lot of EDC skews into the pricier side of the spectrum sadly.
The best one Code 118 Wallet isn't even in this video ..
It’s not as good as these wallets
The Xsto is ew. Too bulky and weird.
