started playing this game in 2018 never knew how to hack properly i would just rely on luck, now legit on the last mission i paused my game and look up how to hack in fallout 4 haha. I feel weird tho, i am moments away from finishing the game right now and i just feel emotional :c 2 years of playing this well i didnt play everyday for 2 years because i was pretty busy with college and then i just forgot about the game, only recently i tried playing it again. Damn whatever the ending is i hope it doesn't make me cry.
EDIT: just finished the game, damn it was pretty damn sad honestly. Right after i ended the game i went back to vault 111 to see her. Walking through the vault feels like visiting my middle school irl, very nostalgic for some reason. When i got to her pod i didn't cry but it made me sad to think that she didn't get to see shaun. I really am getting emotional over a video game but i guess that's just the beauty of it.

Mindblown, I almost punched my laptop screen yesterday being stuck on that damn terminal with no other ways around it for the quest in the Institute

Higher intelligence leads to less fake answers. Even popping a mentats helps or finding clothes with intelligence boost
I just picked the lock instead 😂
Also, on easy or very easy terminals, the correct amount of digits in a guess can be helpful, and if your good enough then it could be the same with other levels of terminals.

The trick ive used since fallout 3 is if you fail and only have one attempt left, exit the terminal and then click A to hack again and everything is reset. It’s impossible to fail or get locked out, but since everything resets so do the words and everything so it may take longer, but if you dont mind having some patients, you’ll eventually unlock all terminals, just dont use that last attempt before aborting the hack.
Yep. That’s what I do. Eventually you’ll get the right one everytime. Lol
Just click the word, exit, try again until luck finds me
The method in the video is much more reliable and faster
Valentine will unlock most of them for you just ask him to do it while you search around

Great tip. Having hacked hundreds of terminals, I finally gave in and use a mod to instantly hack terminals. I may disable that mod and try your method for the fun of it.

Thanks! I found a line that had two brackets closing each other, tried to click it but accidentally missclicked andI accidentally hit the correct answer😂
Also tip when going through the passwords and the word cuts off onto another line. Let's say you see the password world and the letter d falls to the line below, that won't be the password. The full password has to be on a line.

I never thought that this is actually possible to pull off. I've been playing for 3 years and was never able that trick exist until now. An incredible trick that have possibly remain hidden for years after launch

Speaking of passwords, there should be a password mod for 1,2,3,4,5 and you hear a voice, "That's the kind of password an idiot would have on his luggage."

We're stupid together
Srategy:
1. Take 3 guesses. Doesn’t matter which ones, just eliminate 3 potential words
2. Use every bracket, brace, chevron and parentheses to remove duds and restore chances
3. Keep guessing with remaining chances
It needs to be done in this order to maximize your chances.
You have saved me so much effort so I can use this without ever needing to level up hacking

Just guess 3 times, come off the terminal, back on guess 3 more? Never get locked out and you get it right within a few times, doesn’t everyone do that? I’ve done it since FO3

That said, I never failed at the hacking minigame. Exiting out and trying again resets the puzzle entirely, but that includes number of attempts.

My misunderstanding is that i thought likeness meant it had to have the same letters but really its all about placement. Are both I's in the same place of the words?
For example: mineral vs linen
Both words have a likeness of 3 since they share the letters I, N, and E in the same placement.
If it was mineral vs oxidine
Then the likeness is zero since the placement is not the same even though they share some letters with each other.
Hopefully that makes sense cuz thats how i understand it now. Before i was confused

I’ve always just tried 3 and if I didn’t get it I just back out and try again. Every now and then you do get a stubborn one that takes 10 tries but fallout 3 was the last time the ‘likeness’ seemed accurate for me
