Boot camp is definitely slept on . Those albums were religion in Brooklyn !
The best part about these stories is how cool New York rappers were with one another back then. You always hear about the beef, but you never hear about how they supported each other and help build. Thanks, Kenny.
Evil D is one of the most humble people i know when black moon was on top he always had time to talk to fans
Powaful Impak, Who Got Da Props, Son Get Wrec, Black Smif-N-Wessun, How Many MCs, Murder MCs, Buck Em Down (Remix), I Got Cha Opin (Remix) too many classics on that debut album from Black Moon. Enta Da Stage was and is a DOPE album in the legacy of Golden Era Hip-Hop!
ALL FACTS BROTHER
They got better in the mid 90s with nocturnal and da storm.
Top 5 most IMPORTANT records in hip hop.
What Buck Em Down “Remix”?
@@roderickstockdale1678 The version they did the video for not the album version.
That " How Many Mc's" is one of the hardest beats/songs in rap history. Even the video was hard-core. Good selection Kenny P. I still play that track at least twice a month
The Beatminers Was The Soul Of New York 90’s Hip-Hop. Great Video.
Facts!
Straight up!
No disrespect to Evil D and Mr. Walt but arguments can be made for Primo, Easy Mo Bee and Eric Sermon as well.
RIP Sean P!!
Such a cool dude!
Buck em down(album version) is such a slept on beat
Single had the same beat too, you know. They just switched the flow and lyrics a bit.
Enter da stage is one of the greatest hip-hop albums up there with 36 chambers
Enta. Enta da Stage.
BeatMinerz wit' BDP woulda been EPIC!!!
SALUTE DJ PARKER 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That album was without a doubt a certified classic!!!! Let's argue 😂😂😂
" Evil Dee is on tha mix , come on kick it !!! "
I was working at the Gap. I still have an Evil Dee tape. Great days.
Yooooo I read that just how it sounded on the radio 📻 that's nostalgia right there !!!
Ahhhh... The golden era of hip-hop. Best days ever! 😎
“My brother’s name is Kenny, that’s Kenny Parker. My other brother ICU is much darker.” Big ups ! Subscribed.
Black Moon is one of the best underground hip hop groups of all time! Buckshot, Evil Dee, Mr. Walt and Dru Ha created an amazing bench of talent! Who doesn't like the Beatminers? Smith & Wesson, Helter Skelter and the OGC's! All those albums are classics and when Sean Price went Solo....it was crazy!!!! I have a tattoo of the Nervous Weeded Records Logo on my left arm! I got the original print for the tattoo by writing to Nervous Records and asking for it when I was a Music Editor of Subculture Mag! I showed my tatt to Smith and Wesson during a show, while they were on stage and they loved it! Great times, with great music and I was in my 20's!!!! Worked the West Coast & East Coast Underground Hip Hop labels in the Mid 90's to mid aughts!!!
Thanks DJ Kenny Parker! To all those who view this video: as a token of appreciation for DJ Kenny Parker sharing these jewels with us, match (or beat) my contribution! A thousand of us @ $5 a pop gets it done, so…let’s do it!
Once again, thank you so much for the love!
What made the Beatminerz music so unique was their use of resonant filters. They were the first Hiphop producers I personally heard using them. I recognized it right away because I was also into House music where they were already being used extensively. They would low pass a sample then also high pass the sample. First they hit you with the low passed bassline of the sample. They would set the resonance to really accentuate the bass. Then they would drop the high passed part to give you the full sample. Buck Em Down is the prime example of this technique!
I feel like Large Professor was the first one to do a lot with the filters, but the Beatminerz made an amazing signature sound with it.
dah shinin is still my fav album of all time.
Smiff N Wesson??
@@shaykitoffe6411 yep!
damn....KRS and Beatminerz in the mid 90s would have been some seriously dope ish
Yep
I always hit like on Kenny Parker videos
Thanks!
1994 was a crazy year for music
These stories are awesome.
Glad you like them!
It’s the first time I hear him speak. You close your eyes and he sound just like KRS, love beats he had for Heather b
Must be something in the air. I was bumpin Heltah Sheltah yesterday. BCC was one of my favorite crews of the 90's.
I graduated in 92. That's when I started hitting the club hard for like a decade 😅. In Philly, when that Black Moon came out, we were going crazy. The whole Boot Camp Clique was getting mad play!
I feel like the the boot camp guys are so underrated. Love the epic fails videos man
BCC was the illest ish out
OGC, Fab 5, Heltah Skeltah- no doubt!
I was the one that asked about Boot Camp on your live, and here you are telling us some stories about them. Thank you so much for this! When I first heard Smif-n-Wessun I had the same reaction as you, same with Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon & OGC. When the beat came on for I Got Cha Opin Remix, the world stopped around me for a few minutes. It's insane to me that Beatminerz don't get the props they deserve.
Yes Beatminerz in da 90s was on Preemo Pete Rza level
@@daminharris3879 I had them next and next with D.I.T.C in that 93 to 96 Era.Those Sounds are my kind of Hip Hop
Story time with dj Kenny is always a good time
I use to walk around with Enta da Stage in my pocket..one of my favorite and most underrated groups of all time..
How many MC’s! YYOOOOOO!🔥
You are Hip Hop Brother Ken. What a life. "Riding shotgun with DJ Premier...". What 😂 Also "Unbelievable" was ridiculously hot.
Thanks!
Loving these stories. Reminds me why I loved the craft.
How many emcees. Lawd have mercy. That song still gives me chills to this day. FAP!
70's babys hip hop.... Bout to listen to some OGC.. right now.... My shit.... 💙🇵🇷🇮🇹💜 NYC..m
Who Got the Props was my favorite song
Im going to play DJ Kenny Parker stories for my 4 yr old daughter at bedtime. I can't get enough.
Much respect to the bootcamp clik
Kenny Leaking BCC singles is crazyyyyy!!!!
I’m fully addicted to this channel, love the videos Kenny. When I was in 5th grade me and a friend memorized the words to “loves gunna getcha” and we’d rap it all the time at school. In 2020 I ran into that friend again and we still
Both knew the lyrics. Peace from

So, youre saying you both knew WTF you were supposed to do?

You have lived one of the truly great lives of anyone ever. To be in the Hip Hop mix that close and so involved is amazing!!! And to be the brother of possibly the greatest Emcee ever, gottah be an even better feeling. Thanks for all the great vibes.
Wow, thank you! As a lifelong Hip-Hop fan, I have truly experienced some amazing moments. I take none it for granted. I have so many more stories coming up. I really appreciate your words. Thanks again, KP
Yeah KRS the GOAT mc.
Black Moon Straight thru N!ggas talk sh!t My personal fav but no skipped songs onda album Extremely rare Classic 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙

To me Boot Camp Clik is in Hop Hall of Fame. I could go on and on about all the dope tracks. Definitely legends in NY hip hop history … LEFLAUR LEFLAH ESHKOSHKA!!! 😂✌️
I don't care what anyone says about the Sex And Violence album.... that was the shit!!!
I grew up with Buck I remember a running I to him on the 4 train right after Enta Da Stage dropped
Props and How Many are two of my favorites beats of all time.
Me too
Yo my favorite BlackMoon joint of ALLTIME is criminally slept on & it’s the original album version of “ Buck em Down “…..that joint was just evil played on a banging system & Buckshot kicked NOTHING but hardcore gutter lyrics that made you feel like you was on a journey through wild, crazy & violent Brooklyn NY in the 90’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Original Buck em down is dope as fuk! I agree
Remix go hard too
Facts!
@@djkennyparker Bro I hope you can interview some of the greats like KRS 1, Rakim , Buckshot, OC, AZ, Jeru tha Damaja etc….I think with your knowledge, style & charisma it’s a win 👍🔥🔥🔥🥇🏆
RIP Sean Price
Duck Down is the name of Boot Camp Click's record label. And KRS-One made a track called "Duck Down" on the "Sex & Violence" album in 1992. (Hmmm...)
BCC named their record label after the song 'Duck Down'....All love!
8am release, Come on man, now I gotta stop my day job to listen.
BET!
My bad!!! LOL
@@djkennyparker keep it coming!
😮That whole Black Moon Album is Entirely Sic Dope💯
I still have Enta Da Stage. Blown away when I heard 'How Many MCs' back in the day and had to get the album. Classic!
This was a dope story. Hearing those clips was like instant triggers in childhood memories. I remember the battle raps that used to air on hot 97 at night, right around the time these songs were all dropping. I'm mad surprised mic geronimo didn't get more love past 1 or 2 songs. He should've been a household name or at least near it.
Funny how Kenny's Voice and Pitch is similar to KRS👑
Well, they are brothers
@@eddiemontgomery4921 Yes, thanks for that updated info:-
Memories. When I was a young kid back in the 90s I used to shop almost only for Beatminerz, Havoc, Premo produced songs and albums haha
Black Moon songs would never die….love is love Buckshot Shortie.
These stories are priceless.. especially when you're a 50+ year old who grew up loving this great music. Peace and Love.. Hip Hop Forever...Nuff RespeK!
Respect!!!!!!
And the moral of the story is….
Kenny Parker has a most accurate ear and the wise take heed !!!
💪😎💞🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶✨
I have seen Black Moon, Smith & Wessen at Summerstage. I will never forget seeing legends of hip hop.
I got chu open got that pure 90s sound…
Sound Bwoy Burial is the real Brooklyn Anthem. Real BK heads know.

@@jamesfrench6149 ok and? I never heard his brother speak until now. I know brothers who hang with each other all the time and they sound and act nothing alike
Thanks!
Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks for another one bro!!!! Keep up the great work. Your book is really insightful and interesting. Start working on another one lol.
Thank you!
These stories are tight
This was dope to watch & I really enjoyed the fact that Kenny Parker did it….first time hearing him speak & he sounds so eloquent & he holds your attention the whole time he’s talking about the glory days of my favorite hiphop Supergroup the Bootcamp clik…..RIP Sean Price 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Big ups to the one & only ALMIGHTY KRS 1 👍👍👍
Thanks!!!!!!!!
Definitely had to watch out for dubs back then.
I love that sample for How many Emcees. Havocc and Prodeje of SCC used it for Crime Wave. Love that beat.
BIG UP! BIG UP! BIG UP! BIG UP!!! THE MASSIVE DJ KENNY PARKER! Maaaaan I loved that song "How Many MC's" I remixed it to Kriss Kross's "Alright". "BUCK EM DOWN" was my next favorite song on the "ENTA DA STAGE" album. That was basically the soundtrack to me falling tf off back in 1993-1994 when I went back to live with my mom in the pj's😒. I was there for a little while during the video of "Soundbwoy Burreill. It was down the block from project create where I was staying at the time. I left and went to Yonkers to see my girl at the time. When I returned later that night, they were still filming. You have great taste in music. Another great episode.
I remember when BCC came to my city and they got into it with one of our local gangs. That was a night to remember.
You should have elaborated on that story.
Thank you for EVERYTHING
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
Sound Bwoy Bureill (Remix) is classic Beatminerz re-working as well - FIRE
It’s weird just watching a vid listing stories of my record collection. 😂
Industry rule #4,080…record company people are shady
😂😂😂. Dude you have a good ear for music. I’m glad someone finally listened to you👍🏾
LOL, yeah.
Man I rocked the camp, that buck town was crazy my fav was smif & wesson aka co co brothas
I'm a huge fan of the Boot Camp Click...the Beatminerz always had the dope beats and all the emcees were on point...thanks for this story.
Holy Sh*t! I was at that rock steady reunion myself. Absolutely epic. AS I recall the artists you mentioned playing just scratched the surface of that year's line up. Your youthful niavity might of shown through in that story but it also shines light on your good heart. big up as always DJ KP.
Thanks!!!
Man I still remember when How Many MCs and I Gotcha Opin In Spring of 94. Buck em Down and Black Smiff n Wesson were absolute fire on that album
I really appreciate the way you tell these stories, the history of HipHop is still being written by pioneers like yourself, and it’d be a crying shame to lose this insight into the golden era.
I appreciate the support!
I love "ack like you want it " and " I gotcha opin(original version) 2 of my favourite hip hop songs
I got enta da stage in like 99-2000 that album was still fresh
2 of my favorites as well.
@@djkennyparker 🙏❤️
Boot Camp (especially Black Moon and Smiff) doesn't get the credit they deserve for keeping NY rap alive during the West Coast takeover of the game. People give props to Nas, Wu, and Biggie for bringing NY back but imo Onyx, Black, and Smiff set them up to be great. Dah Shinin is a str8 up classic album and Enta Da Stage had 3 classic singles. Greatness.
Yeah and Das EFX and Erick Sermon around the same time ‘93 were heavy 🔥🔥
this was Epic for me,, nobody was bigger for me back then 1993-97’
Thank you 🙏🏽
And sound boy burial and how many emcees is my joints I was in the go go clubs back in the days listening to how many emcees a big club record in New Jersey in 1993😆😆😆
I'm looking for those green Wally's right now. They go crazy with my Powder Keg Columbia coat/jacket. Those, plus the low top purple Wally are a must cop for that Columbia, chief 🫡!
KRS-ONE & The Beatminerz would have been ill!
Shout out to Buckshot Shortie….BuckShot Shortie is from Coney Island....I was born and raised in Coney Island.
Thank you for this story.
Thanks for listening
Damn that was time when records were coming OUT!
Man i could listen to your stories for hours. Thank You for everything Brother.
Thanks for listening!
Him an krs sound voice the same..lol

Thanks
This video is motivating me to make a BCC playlist. What an era they had
For real!!!
Love the stories kenny, keep em comin!
Yo Kenny, I don't know if you already thought of this but you said "Hip-Hop What Ifs". That might be a dope new segment for you....
I thought the same thing! It's a dope title
@@g.b.174 Big Up!
Such a good time for HipHop, takes me back to Jr High/High School
beatminez was dope the boot camp era was crazy i met evil dee in a dj equipment spot on canal street good dude he was tellin me which turntables to get of course the sp1200’s… great story as usual
Canal HiFi ... wow you took it back :-)
KRS-! Gave my female cousin a BDP patch back in 86/87. #MEMORIES
What i love about this series is that you talk about your epic fails and not someone elses!
That was a brilliant story because I love BCC.
Thats dope Kenny! U know the formula to picking a single off an album that will really resonate with people. "Black Moon - How Many MC's", "50 Cent - In Da Club", "Dr Dre - Nuthin But A G Thang", all these songs although different all have the same qualities to be a big record, simplistic beat, simplistic rhymes with slow flow, catchy hook, in otherwords easily digestable tracks. Thats the secret sauce in picking a single that will resonate with people
Great stories. Thanks for sharing!
