- It doesn't look good at Alpine F1. The French works team is at the back of the grid.
What happened to drag the team down to the bottom of the grid?
And what does that mean for Enstone and Viry?
Let me know what you think will happen next and see you at the next video!

Andretti was talking about getting engines from Alpine/Renault, buying Alpine makes a lot of sense from Andretti/Cadillac perspective.
The livery at 2:18, that was peak Renault livery.
The old school Alonso days with the blue was their best, but that golden mustard with the simple black accents was a very close second.
They can do so much with bwt pink and their royal blue, but here we are in the carbon era.. heck I wish it went back to Renault just for that yellow splash on the grid.
Yellow is the 2nd best colour for a race car after red. If they remained as Renault then we could have had a black car with yellow highlights similar to the 2020 testing livery.
I love the 1980 car and livery.
Looks like the perfect Segway for Andretti. Shame Renault's upper management were so clueless.
As I understand it, Alpine built a strong (and heavy) floor in 2022, and Sauber were one of the lightest cars. Then the big teams bullied the sport into the floor stays for the weak floors and raised the weight limit slightly, turning the regulations in their favor. Alpine could have had a much stronger '22 - but the car was still unreliable and the management don't seem to learn - such as losing Alonso and Piastri for the sake of two French drivers.
People used to claim Red Bull were "ungrateful" in how they responded to Renault's repeated let downs and mismanagement, but here we are a few years later, and still nobody wants Renault PU, and management still don't know what they're doing.
They did not lose Piastri, Piastri pulled an asshat move after Alpine supported and sponsored him for many years. OTOH they should have known that there is no such thing as loyalty in F1.
Alpine lightened the floor after stays were allowed.
@@johnjones928 Sure, but it was a complete drain on their time and resources for the benefit of other teams. Designing and making a new floor is much harder than jut adding stays. Without the stays Ferrari and Merc would have been in trouble for the first few races at least, if not half the season.
@@Ruylopez778 Usually floors last 5-6 races before they have to be renewed, but that's only IF they stay with the same design which is usually done late in the year. Alpine didn't have to wait too long to lighten the floor because there was a planned upgrade after the early fly away races anyway.
@@johnjones928 That's not really the point. They had to design a lighter floor, not just follow their planned development path, while the teams that got it wrong were given a quick and cheap fix that was agreed at the last minute. Merc and Ferrari might well have struggled to score points in the early races, having to just strengthen their floors to make them more rigid (and heavier), or even having to DNS. It was totally unfair, despite Alpine being hopeless on reliability and PU performance.
Andretti should buy Alpine, but at 50 cents on the proposed value. The powers to be say Andretti can't bring anything of value to the grid. Really, and Alpine does?
@@juuiko To add they are also engine manufacturers, even tough their engine is not that great these past years, they were competitive for a long time.
People just forget RB-Renault.
Yeah sure, a team valued at a billion dollars should be sold for half of that. Dream on... Renault has a long history in F1 and has won many championships. Just because they're at the back right now does not mean they're useless and cheap. Andretti either has to cough up a metric sh!t-ton of money or get over the fact they are not welcome in F1 right now.
@@juuikoWilliams hasn't sold? So who are Dorrilton then?
You can't get nine women pregnant and hope you have a baby in a month.
"Challenge accepted" - Johnny Sins
"Ok, that didn't work but I ain't complaining." - Johnny Sins
The fact that Bruno Famin produced that bad engine and was the one who kept his job baffled me. I hope Alpine keep going backwards under him tbh.
Let Andretti Cadillac in. Alpine as a “team”brings no value.
@fruhlingsbilder because they inspire to be competitive. Alpine has already indicated they were only there for the marketing
Alpine is a manufacturer team, french, 2 time constructors and drivers champion, 14 or so engine championships. "brings no value" he said...
@@edwnas It's like ur grandpa said I was hero in my young age so I'll marry ur gf
Literally Alpine has nothing new to show
Williams was unlucky in last two races but if it was alpine instead they definitely would have sold team by now
@@BabyIshii so if merc performs badly next year, they should be out? You do know that Alpine/Renault is french and many french ppl support them, unlike Haas, nobody cares bout that team…
Lmao ppl still crying about Andretti. If they joined they would be miles of Alpine let alone the midfield.
I love your videos but the sound is a bit low. I cant really hear anything even with full volume. I would really appreciate it if the videos sound was louder
If I was Alpine, I would give up from F1 and focus on WEC, F1 is not worth it anymore the investment.
Yeah probably best idea
Alpine should have fired the top management of the company. They ruined the F1 team with their intervention.
Yes absolutely.
If you want to be generous to F1 it's always been an engineering championship. Especially recently. The best engineers give a clearly superior car to a driver who wins everything. For instance Hamilton and now Verstappen. Neither of those two for example have shown greatness in other series, or even different cars. Alpine aka Renault should concentrate on WEC or IMSA.
If I was Renault I would bring a front wheel drive Clio Hypercar to Le Mans for the memes.
All teams go through rough patches. Your explanation of the engine issue is very useful as it enables us to understand that Alpine will have few levers on the subject until the new powertrain regs apply.
Accordingly, it would be best to simply communicate better on this and put all efforts into the 2026 car. With some humour, Alpine / Renault could actually work this to their advantage by rebadging the team as Dacia F1....
can you explain the difference between outwash and inwash? I heard the 2026 cars are going with an inwash design instead of outwash. A little understaning into this and the design would be amazing :) cheers
The best way is to check my video about the 2022 regs, where I explain this in more detail:
ruclips.net/video/nq8r9v1C4Qk/видео.html
I will also add that they were consistently beaten by theyr customer teams ever since 2019 and even further if we only consider red bull
Who has been a Renault customer-team since 2019? Renault=Alpine and Renault only supply engines to Alpine, so Alpine isn't a customer team, it's the Renault works team.
@@Arsenic71the customer it's been referred to was McLaren, that before switching back to Mercedes during a year of old chassis being reutilized was sistematically in front of them with the french PU.
At McLaren they said that the deal had no perspective of success, maybe Renault refused on purpose to improve the engine if it meant to stare at a papaya coloured rear the whole time.
@@il-ma.le. Oh indeed, my bad. McLaren had Renault engines until 2020. I am getting old, I confuse seasons. Thanks for clearing that up.
I can use the mini RUclips player only with your videos. Anyone does know why?
With an equal engine they would be in de midfield easely. The weight is a big problem.
One can only hope.
It's more like yet another instance of an obsession with short-term profitability that pervades many Western companies; not just Alpine's Formula 1 efforts.
Next year they will appear full black carbon with heavier chassis, I suppose...
Can you talk about the Bugatti bolide pls ?
No please don't. It's irrelevant and overweight
Lets hope so, been done with alpine for a few years now.
Alpine byby Andretti ¡welcome!
I would just love it if Alpine, Haas and Williams all bail. I want to see FOM beg Andretti to join and have Andretti tell them to pound sand...
Is it too early to give up on 2024 and 2025, and put every effort into the new 2026 regulations?
Sound is a bit muddy, no mid to high frequency. Great video otherwise.
Honestly they should wave the white flag on F1 and give all in on WEC but the core issue is management and investment. They always talk big but no investment made.
"You can't get 9 women pregnant and hope for a baby in a month." - Otmar Szafnauer
😂
Honestly, I hope they sell to andretti
Last year's car was at the end of it's development cycle and with the stronger (heavier) roll hoop regs would be no faster than it was at the end of last year with no potential to improve. This year's car was supposed to be about mass centralization and allowing the maximum space to install upgrades but they over did things around the side impact area leaving the chassis weak. their solution was to add layers to the tub's sides and move the radiator support structure forward. The whole car is now a compromised design with poor traction and inferior rear down force, they can't dial in the new rears suspension until the aero imbalance problems are solved. Their only real hope is to out develop the smaller teams throughout the year and claw their way back to a distant 6th.
They took in so much investments from celebrites last year and this is the result? I dont think they csn get away as easy as selling it. I smell lawsuit.
Not an investment. It was the sale of a stake in the team. They aren't going to spend that on their car. Ottmar said they weren't spending near the costcap. They are just cheapskates
just sell it to rich energy and let the show start
Andretti can’t have a team but these fools can? #Alpeenis
Going by past American efforts in F1, it’s highly likely Andretti would be a lot worse.
@@Ryan.T89 I mean even Haas is better than Alpeen.
Missed the ball with the 2014 engine regulations and took their high profile customers with them.
Everyone missed the ball. Already forgot the 8 WCCs that Merc won from 2014 to 2021?
What are you on about, it's a video about Renault, if the video was about Mercedes then I say , they nailed it, you see where i'm coming from.@@Arsenic71

How did it happen that no customers like Toro Rosso, Red Bull, McLaren (or Williams or Sauber etc) want to use Renault eninges?!
They'll turn it around but it'll be after the summer break, at the earliest.

Ocon to Mercedes.
I feel sorry for Pierre and Esteban. Hopefully someone rescues them. As it stands Alpine has a rubbish car!
JUST SELL THE TEAM
When you’re engine is 10% less powerful while being less reliable, you’re going to have a bad time.
Renault has sucked since 2014. #alpeen
Stupidity knows no bounds.
id rather see porsche before i see andretti
This doesn't sound viry good at all
It’s just french arrogance bite back in their own back. They know better than anyone, and this is the end result. It happens in other companies in less competitive industries as well. So funny to watch their struggle.
Much as they are crap, let's be honest, when has anyone here last thought about Alpine before they rebranded that team as Alpine? For marketing purposes, it works perfectly ...
Alpine literally didnt exist before that (modern car brand) And they still only have one car model
@@junyutan2172 Sure, but Renault are thinking long term. There are no Renault Sport cars anymore, as much as Renault Sport is loved. Renault Sport and Alpine cars were always made in the same factory in Dieppe, and in future it will be the Alpine A290 (Renault 5 EV hot hatch version) and not the RenaultSport 5 EV.
