Same cam last week, springs , Melling pump and headers on the 180,000 mile LY6. 2500HD 8 ft bed . Stock TC isnt right. Dyno at the wheels : 368 TQ. 265 stock .Got for towing. It is what they say it is guys.... badass.I changed from the smaller magnaflow.. went to a larger magnaflow... still loud. I will now add the small straight flow magnaflow into the pipes. Too much drone for towing loads at highway speed for 6 hours. Just me.
Sounds good boss. Really wanting to go with this cam. Really new to hp tuners tho. What are you tweeking in the tune? Would like to see what your changes are.
Same as the beginning of time. Fuel and ignition timing. Fuel by changing commanded injector pulsewidth and timing is just advancing or retarding when the coil turns off and sends the spark.
I think when you get to a certain point in your build that's when you get the converter. I run a cam motion 221/226 .600" lift cam in my rcsb 5.3 and it hauled off the line with a stock converter. Eventually I put a 3000 stall and with the proper tuning it drives great and flys. Good job on your tuning bro, very thorough. I have a btr in my other truck and it runs good too. The cam motion has the quietest valve train I've ever heard in an ls motor. I'll say that much
I have a 2017 3500 Express 6.0 van in the shop right now. Getting a truck Norris cam Exhaust. Torque converter. Etc .etc. already have a k&n on it. I can't wait for the big black van to be back on the road.
Feel you on the muffler drone. Cool vid. I did a lot of cam research before I built my engine. It’s a flat top 5.3 lm7 with summit racing rockers (trunnion upgrade) and their 8718 r1 cam. The more searching I did the more I realized I was happy with a Minimalistic concept. Flat tops, headers and a rv cam with 4:11:1 gears.
I have a 2000 LM7 with stage 4 BTR cam, headers, and converter. Your right.. from a dig it’s a dog off the line. Mid rpm to redline it pulls great. Not sure I would recommend stage 4 BTR. It sacrifices too much torque low range rpm.

Everything I’ve read says they really wake up with a converter. Says they’ll work on a stock converter but much better with a converter. Just a thought though. Right now, I am inspecting the lower end and fishing out needles, etc. I have purchased a Truck Norris cam, push rods, valve springs and will do the VVT delete, etc. I need to work on programming which is a new technical area for me. I see you use HP tuners. Can I email you for advice on how to get started or perhaps you have a program that will get me started which tunes it for 87 gasoline and a loping idle? This is so I can drive the truck and wear in the cam. From this point, I would tune it later for performance. Chris

I am also tuning a truck norris cam and it's my first time getting into the tables. 20 degrees of advance at wot seems really low to me and that's where this 4.8 is staying. had 60c intake temps tho, maybe that had something to do with it

Do you change cam bearings how hard is it
Did you end up having to upgrade the torque converter?
I didn’t have to but I did a 3600 TCI converter
What did your final 1/4 mile mph improvement end up being? That tells the actual story vs the torque reading.
I left the dang Draggy GPS thing at work! I’m gonna try to run it tomorrow
@@BoBuilds hey hi I just got my 2013 suburban ltz 5.3 with dod delete and the truck Norris cam and man it is having issues and the tunner told me that's just the way cammed vehicle act really got me bummed out was wondering if you may point me in the right direction on some of these issues
Did you ever test it?
Please post quarter mile results 🙏
@@ericsych821 there is oil shut off codes for the dod that need to be adjusted with hp tuners. factory computer is trying to go into 4 or 6 mode. it cant because you replaced the dod lifters with non dod lifters. lt1 swap talks about the codes.
This for the non LS ?and do you have to change the springs and lifters or will stock stuff be fine with only the cam
LS. need to change springs.
I have circle d 2800 stall with 5.3 truck Norris cam 862 heads 342 gear 2wd 04 chevy silverado. Low end sucks
Dang so I need to buy the pro feature set and prolink cable to hook up my wideband gauge ? Really would be nice to have that number in my datalogs! I am also tuning a truck norris cam and it's my first time getting into the tables. 20 degrees of advance at wot seems really low to me and that's where this 4.8 is staying. had 60c intake temps tho, maybe that had something to do with it
Ya probably i bought the upgrade version when I bought mine i forgot what all was different but I got mine probably like 8 years ago or something so I have the old unit so I cam hook it directly but I haven't done much and don't even have a wide band yet
Why do you run 12something air fuel..... what fuel are you running? (Pump/91)?
