Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve got more bench/garage videos planned, but I’ve been taking advantage of the extended warm weather to get lots of driving done.
Happy to help! I usually work from a script because I am not comfortable improvising. Please feel free to turn on captions, because I make sure those are good too (sometimes it is easier to read along).
Thanks! Two days ago I got out for a drive and shot some video with all the upgrades. The coolest visible addition is the scene lights on the bed rack. Oh ya, and ripping in second gear! The video will go live next week I think.
Absolutely. I pulled the Traxxas BEC out when I installed the Hobbywing Fusion. I often get nervous about running BECs at high voltage because I usually have other electronics installed in my trucks. In the case of the Sport, I have the lights and the winch. I just checked and the Traxxas #2255 400 oz. servo can handle up to 7.4 volts and the Traxxas winch accepts inputs anywhere between 5 and 12.6 volts. I really should increase the Fusion BEC voltage then. My current preference, for demanding steering situations, is to use a direct power servo and bypass the BEC issue altogether.
The motor sense wire is for the turn signals. It’s so they don’t turn on when moving. There only activated when stopped if the sense wire is hooked up.
thank you for info, i upgraded my trx with fusion first and then i got pro scale light kit , and i have no idea why turn signals doesnt work, how i can fix it ? this sensor wire only for brushed motor
@@henrikthorleifsson8470 sense wire does nothing, no change, but i fixed turn lights by pressing both buttons(signal and mode)and hold few seconds, after that hazard and turns work well
If took me ages to find out the answer ! Your vid. For god sake ! Finally i found your vid. Thank you very much! I burned my motor i want to upgrade but i have a lot of questions to be answered first. Thank you. I have one more question plz. Does the cruise control keep working ??
Sorry for the late reply. I've been off-line most of the summer! I believe cruise control keeps working as long as you keep your TQi controller and receiver. Cruise control is really a function of the transmitter. But now, I need to go and confirm that for sure!!
Technically you could keep the Traxxas BEC installed (it needs a JST power source from the battery), but I don’t know why you would. The HW Fusion Pro BEC is 6A and the Traxxas 2262 BEC is 3A (according to everything I have read). Also the HW BEC can output 6V or 7.4V, but the Traxxas BEC is only 6V. Also, if you look at the install diagram for the Traxxas BEC, you will see that it takes over the duty of powering the receiver, and anything attached to the receiver, from the ESC BEC. I don’t know why you would want that instead of the higher amperage HW BEC. traxxas.com/news/high-output-bec-installation
Sorry for the late response. I just haven’t had time to check my truck until now. I do not have a problem with the turn signals. They work as they should. Are you still using a Traxxas receiver? The motor/ESC should not affect the turn signal function. I prefer to use a TQi receiver with the Maxx Link Cable for communication between the receiver and lighting module. This way I can use a Bluetooth module in my TQi transmitter and get full remote programming of the lighting functions. Regardless, there is no app function to reverse the turn signals. I have never used the Receiver Communication Cable that plugs into channel 1 and 2 of the receiver. If you are using a TQ (or third-party receiver) and the Receiver Communication Cable, check that your wiring is correct. Refer to the PDF manual at m.traxxas.com/sites/default/files/HKC20008-R04_Pro-Scale%20Lighting%20Module%20Installation-WEB-EN.pdf The other thing to check is your distribution block wiring. Pay particular attention to the turn signal jumper plugged into E or F (depends on your model). Again, refer to the manual linked above. I hope this helps. Let us know if you’ve figured it out.
Are you using a TQi receiver and the Maxx Link cable or a TQ receiver and the Rx communication cable? Are you still using the stock ESC, or have you installed something else. I use the Maxx Link cable and don’t recall having a problem. Honestly I rarely use the turn signal mode so I am not sure if what you describe is common or not. I have my Traxx on right now and I am waiting for more snow before I get the Sport out for a drive. When I do, I will play around with the turn signals and see if I have any issues.
I have the hobbywing fusion 2300 and using maxx link kabel. The turn signal still not working. But i Can press the signal Button and the catastrofe light is blinkin. If i push it again should the turn signal be activatet but its not😥
Correct. The motor sensor wire is not needed IF you have a 4-channel TQi receiver and have connected the Pro Scale Lighting module to the receiver with the Maxx Link Cable. The Maxx Link Cable sends throttle information to the Lighting Module. You get additional customizability by installing the Bluetooth Link Wireless Module in your TQi transmitter and and running the Traxxas Link app on your smartphone. This page has an over overview of the hook up requirements (just ignore the section about telemetry). m.traxxas.com/news/how-to-install-pro-scale-lighting

Thank you for the nice presentation!

Excellent video. Nice and detailed but not too long. Thank you :)

Definitely worth removing the bec as you can run higher voltage with the hw bec.

Ok. I don’t think I ever checked that scenario!

What if i have the hobbywing fusion pro. Should i still Mount the sense wire? I havent the turn signal working right now and it pisses me off🙈
I have tried with the sense wire but then i could not get the reverse light working

Thanks for subbing! If only I had enough time to share everything I would like to!
Thanks for video. So when using this setup you dont need the bec for servo?
Correct. The Hobbywing Fusion BEC is much better than the Traxxas BEC and can takeover the job of powering your power-hungry servo.
So you can run 7.4 volts to light module no problem?
The esc relays the battery voltage to the light module. So yes. You can even run 12.6
Is it possible that the hobbywing esc will work with a traxxas BEC?
Technically you could keep the Traxxas BEC installed (it needs a JST power source from the battery), but I don’t know why you would. @@rcstories_ca To clarify, I want to combine the Hobbywing ESC with the Traxxas BEC.
Don't need it with fusion 2 n 1 as it provides 6 & 7.4
Do the blinkers still work
Yes, you can still enable/disable the turn signals with the Signal button (quickly press it twice). I just never have it on for off-road driving.
Mine works the same but my turn signals are reversed now that I have the hobbywing motor installed
Because the stock motor is a reverse motor

What about turning light? Mine sometimes work and sometimes not… what to do

Now it works. I figured out that i should push the button twice fast and then it was turned on🙈
So i do not need the motor sensor wire plugged in if I’m running hobbywing fusion?

I’ve never tried a Traxxas High Trail. They look sweet, but also a bit high CG. I’ll check out the channel.
