My friend and I tested side by side with his TRX-4 with standard motor and my TRX-4 with this Hobbywing setup. The TRX-4 with the standard motor was just barely faster in 2nd gear. There was no big difference, maybe 1mph?
Excellent video. This is a no nonsense very easy to follow instructional on removing and installing the Hobbywing motor. I just bought this exact motor and found this very helpful and you managed to do it without talking or any mumbo jumbo along with it. Thank you
Usually when I watch an installation video then I tend to jump over long introductory speeches straight to the point to get the information I’m looking for. I do my own installation videos in the same way.
A great help especially as you show in detail the wiring route and the set up of motor to gearbox. My motor arrived in post today and I will follow your directions exactly. Many thanks.
I did not show the use of a programming card in this video. The direction of rotation of the motor must be changed in the TRX-4. I noticed that when the programming card is plugged into the car, simply turning off the car is not enough. The programming card does not start but only lines appear on the screen. Disconnect and reconnect the battery, then turn on the power and the programming card will start working.
Straight to the point ! Very enjoyable to watch. I see that you use an extansion cable. Do I have to order it as well or is it offered in the standard box ? I own a Trx 4 defender. I plan to install the led kit from traxxas. Any tips ? Any specific cable I should use ? Thanks again for sharing this installation video.
The extension cable is standard in the Hobbywing Fusion kit. I connected the Traxxas light set directly to the receiver. The original Traxxas 8028 LED Lights Power Supply operates at 3 volts. Now I have clearly brighter lights than before as the receiver works at 6 volts. The lights have worked fully despite the higher voltage. At first I was a little nervous would they handle the higher voltage but no problems.
Great Video , Clear and easy to Follow . I have had my TRX 4 Bronco now about a month now . I have replaced the Bumpers with Chrome covered ALUM Metal Bumpers , and mounted the body with Magnets. Installed a light kit last week . Have not replaced the steering servo yet , but soon. When I saw how Quiet and Controlled this Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion 1800KV motor set up is my mouth fell open ! I LIKE THAT ! On the Hobbywing North America web site they have this motor with the program card but it does not come with the TRX power Connector and the motor shaft does not have a Flat spot cut on it like the set up you got . If you can please tell me where did you get Yours ? A WEB ADRESS and a SKU # would be Great if you have it . Hope you are Well and Happy .Have a Great Time . BEN V.
I ordered mine here: hobbyfactory.fi/en/p61132/hobbywing-quicrun-fusion-brushless-crawling-combo-1800kv-30120401 I also ordered them to change the connector to a TRX type.
The motor shaft does have a flat spot for the set screw. The gear would not hold the shaft without flat side shaft. If you doesn’t have a flat side, it’s defective for they forgot a step. You can purchase a Traxxas to XT60 adapter on Ebay or AMainHobby. If you cut plug, void the warranty.
Please can you help me...when I search for the hobbywing fusion with integrated ESC it seems as there is the MALE XT60 plug attached to it. I am only using original Traxxas Lipos that have a MALE connector. How do I connect these two plugs? Or is the connector of the motor a FEMALE one? Somehow I dont get it. Please feel free to send me a link of what adapter I will need to connect the hobbywing with an XT60 connector to an original TRX Lipo.
@@RCCrawlingFinland Thanks for your answer friend I am thinking of putting the fusion or the axe 550, I am new to this and it is difficult for me to choose. What would you recommend me and why? thank you very much, excellent videos 👍
@@RCCrawlingFinland I need to go look in the box again, no wonder my cable didn't reach that well. I figured it was a spare cable for the programmer lol.
I connected the futaba Y extension cable directly to the receiver box. Now the lights are getting 6v voltage which I was a little worried at first. However, the lights have worked flawlessly even though the voltage doubled and the lights became significantly brighter. The Traxxas # 8028 LED Lights Power Supply produces only three volts. I've been considering raising the voltage of the Hobbywing system to 7.2v, but is it too much for the lights? The microservos should then also be upgraded to a model that can withstand 7.2 volts.
good video..but my instructions are gobbledegook.. literally lost.PLUG IN..DONT PLUG IN. manual says if need to connect power then unplug red wire.as ESC mite b damaged..eh.
I've have had that same motor for 7 months now and it's great!
Today I got to drive this motor for the first time. I'm impressed, there is no return to the old original engine.
Does this setup have a higher top speed than the original motor aswell?

@@RCCrawlingFinland So which one was better at climbing?

RC girl gives a pretty good explanation on the programs and settings but your background music much better 😊
Hi there!
Thx for the video!
One question: how can I reverse the motor running cause I need to do it!
Very helpful, thank you. Subscribed! 👍✌️
Perfect! Thank you!

Solder the connector Traxxas part #3070X to the ESC. I also run my TRX-4 with original Traxxas batteries.
@@RCCrawlingFinland Thank you
great video. 👌
do you know if this the same for the trx 6? thanks 👍
Yes, it should fit in exactly the same way. There are two versions of Quicrun Fusion, 1200kV and 1600kV.

awesome 👍😍👍
How did u wire the BEC for the steering servo or did i see that wrong?
Is there any reason why my truck would be reversed!? Forward is reverse, reverse is forward.
Traxxas stock motor runs backwards. Change the Ch2 setup with the program card to opposite.
@RCCrawlingFinland thanks! Ended up contacting them about this and got it squared away. Super confusing at first, but makes total sense.
At 6:49 did it come with the extension to reach the receiver box?
Yes it did
