Very good in-depth and informative! I just received a K10 and was looking for a decent walk through of this kit, your video was the only one I could sit through!
I installed the same kit on my K10 a few months ago, Traxxas stuff is expensive, but it works so well with their products, and the cheap kits don’t have all the features of this one , good video 👍
This is an excellent tutorial video.thanks so very much. Im getting myself a light set for my Ford F150 high trail 1/10. As i expected bei g Traxxas everything goes well and smoothly with perfect fit. It should be quite straightforward too. About the max link cable can this be used even if not using the Bluetooth module at first to save the time needed later? Im planning to buy thw Bluetooth module later so im going to use it later. Is it one or the other? Here in Australia the pro scale light set for the 1/10 scale Ford F150 is $250 and the led roll bar is $130. The Bluetooth module is around $90. All together this gets quite pricy to buy all in one purchase.great video again, im subscribed 👌👍.
Absolutely! You can install the Maxx cable and then get the BT app later. 😎 And yes, you're absolutely correct... you run 1 cable or the other, not both. 👍👍
Nice video. I needed to see how this was done. I have F150 and kits are sold out everywhere. So I pieced together 2 older Bronco kits to get everything I needed until I saw your video and see what I needed. Bracket on body and reverse lights! Thanks
I too have the F-150, and I ran into a couple of issues. The Blazer kit is pretty much the same as the one for the F-150. Great video! It answered the questions I had. I do better with hands on than reading from a manual.
@@jasonhopper2223 I had to get a different mounting bracket so ended up piecing together a couple older sets but there should be a set for the Ford high trail f150.

One thing you forgot. To plug the red connector into the speed controller. I couldn’t figure out why mine wasn’t working. I followed your instructions to the tee. Then it hit me.
I loved your tutorial video. I had a couple of questions though. With the bracket that holds the distribution block or light module onto the body shell you showed 2 different brackets earlier but at the tail end of the video the bracket is the same as in Traxxas instruction manual which is a different bracket that you said is required. One bracket is kind if flat plastic with ribbing and the other bracket is round plastic tube or solid resembling a perimeter type bracket. The other question i needed to ask is about phone compatibility. I think you're using an Android but what do i know. Ive got Android and although Traxxas says both Apple and Android are supported lots of people get on RUclips saying the Bluetooth module doesn't work with Android. Id like to use the uetooth module because playing around with the light module button seems too finicky and troublesome. In the same way as trying to program an ESC via a set button. Frustrating to say the least. Do you use Android? Im using Android 12 on my phone. Great video the best of seen honesty so in depth and detailed and great camera quality filming 👍👌
Thank you, very much appreciated sir!! 🫡 As for the bracket, the simplest way to say it is you need to use the one on your body that clears the roll cage, if you have it. You'll quickly notice that the other bracket is designed for mounting to a body with no cage. If you try to use the incorrect bracket on a body with a cage, you will see it hits part of the cage (as I did). From what I recall (been a while since this vid), there was only 1 bracket that mounted to the chassis for the distribution module. Regarding my phone, yes I am on Android. I use a Galaxy S23 which has given me no problems thus far! 🤞😜
@@WeissRC I just installed my k10 pro scale light kit up the same way you did using the maxx link cable and the jumper lead. Everythings works fine but I don't get turn signals or brake lights. Even in the app I can't get the brakes to work. running lights are fine. What do you think the problem is.
@@WeissRC I got my roll bar lights to work just like your headlights on the module and got my rock lights to work on the distribution block. Was this the same case of your distribution block? Sorry brother but this is so aggravating lol.
Awesome instructional video. But my roll bar isn’t as bright as yours. I have the pro scale light kit and I purchased the light up roll bar. I connected it into slot M like the instructions say and they are weak. What’d you do differently?

I used the Maxx cable for a couple of reasons.... first, as I understand it you need this cable for the Bluetooth app to work. And second, it also allows forward and reverse to still function (specifically reverse lights) if/when you install a brushless setup, which I've done since this video. 👍👍
@@Νικόλαος-ο5δ like others stated, just hit the signal button 2 times quickly and it should fix that issue. I had the same thing happen, everything worked but the signals........

So here's my take... they *claim* that it is, but the fact of the matter is you'll have some kind of exposed pins somewhere (most likely in the aux connections). Granted it's not the "Pro scale" kit, but I have the standard light kit in my Bronco, which I have taken through creeks and whatnot... that module has absolutely gotten submerged and is very flaky today. Given those results, I would either err on the side of caution when running in higher water, or maybe even consider conformal coating. Regardless, whatever metal pins are exposed from the power module will eventually fall victim to corrosion if you run in water long enough... TL:DR, I'd avoid submerging the module as much as possible. The occasional splash here and there isn't going to hurt it. 👍👍
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, I had to add the roll bar, as the truck did not come with it (like the F150). In the end, it costs you around an extra $50 bucks, but that's also why the K10 was cheaper to begin with. 👍👍

Have you tried pressing and holding the mode button for several seconds? You can also press and release the mode button to cycle through the turn signal option. If that's not it, it's likely your main distribution module (which attaches to the chassis) that is malfunctioning. 👍
@babito1982 good point! I didn't focus too much on the roll bar since that wasn't the point of the video. That being said, there are 2 roll bars and you want to buy the one with the buckets that already have the LEDs installed. 👍 After that, it's simply a matter of drilling 4 holes in the dimpled areas of the body, running the wiring harness through one hole, and connecting it to one of the aux ports on the distribution module. 👌 I can even do a quick how to if you need help. 😁
No worries, certainly a fair question!
