redbull driver living up to expectations as usual
These first few weeks have been ROUGH. I feel it Dave, I havent had a race under 6x since week 13. It's not been a great opener to the season lol.
I’ve been watching your content for a little over a year and recently got a pc just for iracing, I also got a moza R9 which is just an incredible little piece of hardware. Your videos have definitely helped me on my iracing journey, I did my first rookies race today in the Mazda and managed to get a win after a bad launch off the line i some how managed to weave my way through all the people spinning out in front of me and ended up in first lol kept it clean, consistent and brought home my first win. My second race I was able to get a podium again tho it was a much closer split, I made 2 big mistakes almost loosing the car when I was in the lead and ended up p3.
2:35 - I swear there is always something ridiculous that comes up when there is a substantial need for safety rating.
I was thinking about Sebring last night. Was trying to remember racing around there in an old PlayStation game. Found it anyway. Super car gt. loved sending the panoz Esperante around Sebring haha.

I was racing Sebring on Monday night and I had a pretty reasonable (for me) race.
Not only that I live streamed to Twitch as well for the first time in about 3 years!

I did a GT4 race here yesterday. Every body crashed on the parade lap. It was amazing. I started the parade lap in 20th I started the race in 12th. Made it all the way to 6th. Something about GT4's, people love to crash on the parade lap.
I won four GT4 races starting from the pits with my crappy 500 iRating. All the fast drivers at the front of the grid were so aggressive and being idiots that they took each other out of the race. Their loss and my gain! haha
Even as a Red Bull fan, I get nervous like everyone around a Red Bull livery!
Any sort of F1 livery in iRacing has a high chance of being trouble, I am kinda guilty tho as I have BWT sponsorship on my Clio cup car.

My go to race for SR and in general when I’m feeling bad is the VEE. It helps me get my groove back

I guess I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one getting beat up at red bull ring in F4 though I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Even driving at the back as conservatively as is possible, I'm still as likely as not to have a backmarker slam into me in the dumbest of ways. I've lost count of the number of drivers who have insisted on following me off the line on the front straight in order to draft and then hit me from behind when all I want to do is slow down and let them by. I went from 2.5 (post-promotion. Was 3.5 at end of last season) to 1.5 in shockingly few races, then back to 1.9 in a long slog, then back to 1.5 while actively trying to farm SR, and now I'm finally back to 1.98. It's been a ridiculous number of races to get almost nowhere on the SR front.
The only saving grace has been that I've been getting placed in splits quite a bit higher than my irating,, making it easier to me to have minimal irating losses. I've only lost maybe 100 total over my many SR farming attempts because even crawling around at the back I end up in 7th-10th more often than not due to all of the crashes in front of me. I am dead tired of starting in the pits and driving slow, but don't feel I can race without getting back over 2.0 and getting that extra 0.4 SR bump as a buffer. I'm only in my 2nd season and don't have sufficient track knowledge or other car experience to just jump into another series without risking significant SR and IR hits even while driving conservatively. One more good race and I'll finally be back in the game!
Nice race Dave. Once you settled in and relaxed into your race flow you started moving forward and you got off lucky with the safety rating. Ive been running the gte cars at Suzuka. Seems alot safer racing in the A class races. You should try it.
I generally find that if I am trying to stay clean and careful of other questionable drivers I get more incidents than when I just race my race.
I noticed many drivers start at the back, think they deserve front and wreck, qualifying should be mandatory lol
I think it would help us all if you activated the highlight of your name in the relative and standings window, like a slight grey as a background so we can see you instantly. wouldn't hurt you I guess, but we could profit a lot :)
Oh boy that start....driving standards (especially that ir-04) have been rough lately. Good drive from the back though!
Iracing f4 has always been rough and the best way to lose ir.
After the recent frustrating and costly Redbull Ring races, it's no wonder Dave's Swear Jar got a rare donation after that start!
Again, good composure to keep it tidy and competitive. Gaining SR was a handsome if unexpected bonus! It's dispiriting that
great racing can be quickly undermined by poor driving and poor connections, but when it works, it's so satisfying ...and fun!
ya im feeling it too... started this season at 3.2k and 3.9 SR. Now im at 2.9k and 1.55 SR...

Dave, you did a video fairly recently in either ACC or iRacing, but you showed your technique for learning new cars.. specifically, learning exactly where their tires run off the track or not. You made it pretty easy, I just can't remember and didn't save it. Any clue what video that was?
Sandro has a bit of a reputation. I've seen him wreck more than a few people. He's quick but careless, not a great combination.
Yep, i was 2 times in a race with him this week, 2 times he puncted me... Second time same as Dave, during formation lap...
great race, that #19 BMW is a stone cold killer. I am glad he did not take you out, too. And in the end it seemed like he ran out of fuel or something. His delta to you was increasing like crazy. maybe a karmic justice?

Not sure what's worse, pace lap pile-ups or the massive start-line wreck in the race I just did lol. I switched to Open instead of Fixed last season as I thought it would be cleaner due to the longer races and no fast repair, last season was mostly pretty good but I feel like it's been a bit rough so far this season. In saying that, I've only done a 3 races across the two weeks so far...
@Davecam find a official series race at the Nordschleife. That'll fix your safety rating right up.

Trying to gain safety rating by not qualifying on such a narrow track, been surrounded by 20 people with less than 2000 irating, it's like trying to quit drinking, being at the pub at St.Patrick's Day
but on the bright side - it gave us a lot of laughs watching it 😂

Just wished cars were not spun off so easily in iRacing. Most of those incidents seem like big hits, but a few were light taps sending cars spinning 😢. Still, my favourite sim though. 😊

This is why I wish they added gt3 or gt4 races in the A license class lol to avoid these goons. All we have is the formula a races :(

this is kinda why i'm scared to race in top splits. i'm only around 1.9k irating, and if I get next to a serious driver and hit them, i'm gonna be labeled a fuckin bellend for the rest of my life possibly.
all in good fun, i know it's the heat of the moment and for the camera at times.

I don’t understand the SR system, you gained SR for 9 incidents, when I race, if I get more than 2 incidents I lose SR, not too fair is it?

Red Bull liveries. It’s always the same.
This is the exact reason why I have hardly any desire to even race anymore. I’m not slow, but I’ve been stuck in low-ELO hell for so long. Hardly anyone has any regard for any common sense or safe driving and iRacing does nothing about it. All they care about is voice chat. You can report people all day for driving like these guys and nothing gets done about it. I really love the sim more than any of the others but the report/discipline system is just lacking so bad. Wish they would figure something out.
When u start too far back that’s the problem. They are out of pace and they fight for positions like crazy.

I think iRacing must have taken pity on you and gave you the minimum SR/IR just to make you feel a bit better :)
I used to love GT4. Then it got popular. I'd argue it's worse than gt3 now.
