Everyone in this race needs to be protested. That highlight reel was absolute carnage.
Hockenheim seems especially bad
Man the driving standards are horrific at times. If everyone just had a touch of respect for each other this sim would be so much better. No amount of programming or coding can make up for people being unwilling to give an inch.
And it's paid service too.. You would think that people cared more but getting same wreck as on other sim.

I sink many hours into practice because I want to be seen as a good racer. Not necessarily quick, but good. I want others to see my name and know that I’ll give them a good and entertaining race.
But mostly, I want to be the best racer that I can be, for myself and I understand not everyone will be as committed as I am, but it boggles my mind how some are happy with being bad. They may be quick, but that doesn’t make them good and it amazes me that they are fine with that 😂
The official races can be great for hop in action but they can be so bad for driver respect, there’s no incentive to not drive like an idiot. I’ve been loving the league I joined, try to find a league if you can!
@@tkhockey510 yeah leagues are better but iracing main point as you said - jump in and race. If I cared about leagues I would play acc/ac which is basically free, you buy once and that's it.
This has been a hellacious week for me. Started this week with 3.4 safety rating and have finished this morning at 1.3....Still got my A class license but not for long if I keep this up.
The last lap contact was exactly as you stated. They turned in to squeeze you. Maybe miss judged and jturned in to early, but if the car ahead, you in this case, hasn't turned in then you have to wait. Aside from the fact that squeezing you there really does nothing except induce contact. Race craft wise they'd have been better suited to try to switch you back and get on your right which gives them the inside for the last 2 corners and possible a move can be made there.
Either way an apology goes a long way. Just apologize and own the mistake... none of this non-apology 'well if you would have taken the curb...'

This week has been the absolute worst for me in iRacing. I’ve had only 2 races where I was able to avoid being smashed into. It’s insane that I can go a whole race without a single incident meaning no off tracks or losing control but all it takes is one moron to completely ruin that by smashing into the back of you or the side on a turn because they are over shooting the apex after losing the corner. It’s miserable that you either have to slow down and avoid wheel to wheel to stay clean and even that doesn’t always work. It’s even the back markers that will take you out when your lapping them, I don’t wanna pay to have this issue anymore.

Same at road America this week.. I had two guys in separate races pit me on straights.
Had another guy in P2 jump the start by 20 car lengths, slow down, then challenge me (in P1) for T1 and the entire next straight
@@AB-308 I ran a couple at Watkins and the majority at SPA, you would think SPA being so big you would t have that issue but even there these guys just don’t brake and use you or move erratically when your trying to pass them. I’m good with them trying to block but once they have clearly lost the fight they just clip your tire or put a tire into you. It seems like it’s gotta aggressively worse.

Sucks to see that contact happen on the last lap. I've been having that happen to me a lot lately, being on the inside of a turn and being completely doored by the driver on the outside. Beyond frustrating that so many can't/won't race side by side cleanly.

Car 28 , a race to forget. Spun on out lap, DQ'd on last corner of the race. One of the best carnage reels in a while.
I need to add: I just watched a GT3 race, SOF 1800ish, with a lot of good and fair racing, smart decisions, like people taking a step back when three wide, not going back on the ideal line immediately after losing speed on the grass, just smart racing. All hope is not lost.

I hope you are feeling better Dave, I really do enjoy watching your content and learning all the time. I agree with you, the standard within iRacing is shocking recently, my safety rating has plummeted due to the majority by the action of others. Examples highlighted within your video, not seeing incidents ahead of them, you slow down and they come ploughing into the back of you, get your eyes tested, turn relative times on and be observant. Not knowing how to race wheel to wheel and giving each other respect. Then there are those dive bombers or those that drive you off the track on purpose.
Ive been sim racing on PS for almost 5 years and i finally made the jump to iRacing thanks to your channel. Used your affiliate link to sign up and I'm having a blast just testing and racing the AI. I plan to do my first official race later tonight and i haven't felt this nervous excitement in quite some time. Dave im going to give you a tip a tip that you gave me to get out of rookies start last and keep it clean, i love the gt4 wish it was every hours like mx5 im excited for the new bmw gt4, for someone coming from acc that just won a gt4 championship and with over 1000hours of acc iracing is a fresh of breathe air every race is a nightmare on acc and nothing happens to them rammers or dirty driver's on acc where iracing does do something its nice

I feel your pain Dave I really do. I think of it like this. As Sim Racers we take the time to learn the craft and try to race the right way be clean and respectful of the other drivers but to be taken out on turn 1 makes my skin boil. I'm all for a little door banging and hard racing but the racecraft of some drivers makes your head spin. Sometimes if I get into a little bit of funk and I'll admit some incidents can be my fault and I own up to it you just to take a breather maybe take a day or two to clear your head then get back right into it.

There has been a lot of just driving through the car in front the last couple weeks, especially in GT4
How no one died after you slid through the grass onto the apex is wild to me.

Just raced same car around Virginia after two months break and 10 laps of worm up. 13x caused by other drivers, 3 by myself. Nothings changed as I see...
Been the same in GR86 this week. Killed in every race for the first 4 days.
Top split GT3 at Imola this week has been a hell hole, my safety rating has been absolutely nuked by it, some of the defending and straight up disregard for other drivers has been atrocious.
Just plenty of ‘I’m going to squeeze you into here, you’re going to back out or we’re going to have an accident’ situations every race.
This is one of the many reasons why I don't play iRacing anymore. A radar UI would help loads in making races cleaner

It's been a nightmare in road and formula but I managed to get my A license back with a 3.60 for a nice buffer. Probably one of the most frustrating weeks I've had on the service though. I was rear ended more times this week than probably the last four months combined. The fact I managed to climb back to A despite that is a sign that at least I've gotten cleaner, I suppose.

I just started (yeah I'm a rookie) and I did encounter an issue where I overtook a guy after seeing his line for 3 laps I knew sooner or later I would have him in turn 1, pulled off the move and at the next kink I just felt a bump in the rear and I was off. Initially I thought man this guy is a moron, as I could can see in the footage I was 3/4 ahead of him, so he should've backed off but when I saw his cockpit footage he can't see me and neither could I. I didn't know I hadn't cleared him 100% and took that kink to my left where he still was unfortunately. So what I am guessing is as more people come into iRacing and budget is a common issue, the majority of drivers are running Single Monitor setups and with that we know what happens. Unless they build some system that assists with that for single monitor setups then it's not going to go away.

As someone with a brain tumor that some days I can be sharp as a tack, and other days I can't even put one lap together at pace I know this pain very well.
Nothing feels worse than not performing to your abilities except when not performing to your abilities also ruins someone else's race.
yeah sim racing is unbearable recently. i sold my full rig recently after sim racing for 4 years and spending close to $10k on it. like you said, just not fun. bought a simple HOTAS setup and just fly around in VR peacefully now :)

i was on the verge of being a 2k irating for the first time and dropped nearly 300 points with a many bad races. I stay optimistic though because i've been in this position before and got my rating back up. I try not to think about rating too much and just have fun.

I agree, people have been shut racing lately. My theory is as simple as racing grows, so does its fan base and everyone wants to race now but everybody ain’t a racer
I’ve been thinking of returning to GT4 in season 4… Maybe not! Come back to TCR Dave, some of the cleanest racing on the service but you’ll need to race in the evening to get decent SoF.
Ive really enjoyed racing the GT4 this season but I dont know what's going on this week, the driving standards are some of the worst I've seen. I did 2 races in GT4 this week, both times got wrecked by idiots so i bailed. Looking at the carnage in this one im glad I did, looks more like Wreckfest!

It’s due to the huge boom over the last few yrs. Iracing became trash years ago.

I'd have to agree Dave's it's does seam a lot more overly aggressive atm and I find I can't trust orher drivers in close quarters racing anymore ' only way seams like I've got to get pole a drive away ' but I do enjoy close racing when it's clean

My biggest problem is those who somehow believe that because they are lapping fractionally faster than you, that means they have immediate right of way - and when you defend your position (fairly - no moving under braking etc), they complain that you blocked them - and they will quite literally just drive through you - and then they will bitch, complain, PM and try to justify their actions by telling you you're in the way, they were faster than you and you need to give them room. It's becoming a problem I think, and I firmly believe the current SR system is to blame.
If SR was able to ascertain blame FAR more effectively than it does now, I believe people would need to drive more respectfully. Too often do other drivers dive into the back of you, spin you and they can carry on while you're spinning backwards. I believe this is becoming a tactic to pass - SR doesn't seem to be as important as the Almighty iRating, and it shows. It cannot be difficult to determine angle, speed and relative position of cars to calculate a far more fair incident detection. Personally I believe this is pure laziness by iRacing - they keep likening the SR to money spent repairing a car - that's fine, but you simply don't see the same amount of carnage on a real track - so the two are incomparable. But, iRacing forums are full of the usual white knights - probably the same ones who believe they are racing elite - always defending the SR system.
I love sim racing - but my enjoyment is hampered by races being ruined by people who simply don't understand how to race properly. And there are too many of these, without any suitable deterrent. When you can be hit from behind while not braking, and pick up 6-8x points from that one shunt, while the other driver only gets 4 and drives away to podium.. something is very wrong.
I did enjoy a proper DC rant at the end there 😂

Videos like this make me wonder why people seem so fixated on irating and trying to get into higher splits when the quality of racing is just as bad as videos of bottom split
I haven't been on iracing for years and decided this year to get back into sim racing. I bought a new chassis, wheel and pedals and was looking forward to getting back into racing except after watching a bunch of videos from a variety of streamers I've been completely turned off from iracing. Iracing is already challenging, but the player base is filled with absolute idiots. Besides, the graphics still look horrible for 2024. Regardless, I doesn't appear people really want to race and are there for carnage. Always when I chose a game to play there has to be value and reward for the effort and time put in, and in its current state, I do not see any reason to invest my time beyond watching a few iracing videos.
Dave, I am grateful for yours and others videos. There has to be some serious changes to iracing before they get my hard earned money.

Dear me. That crash reel at the end is frightening viewing. Staggering how so many drivers with 3k or 4k+ ratings think it’s ok to drive like that? As for the incident at the end… very poor from the other guy. It’s not like you just dived up his inside unannounced… you were fully alongside him for 3 corners! People just don’t seem to understand the concept of leaving a bit of racing room. I feel your frustration.

I’ve noticed the way you brake, is a lot different to most that I watch.
I know you’re quick, so it’s clearly working for you, but I was wondering if it’s something you figured out yourself, or did you pick it up from someone else?
What I mean, is your initial application is a lot softer and gradual, and then after peaking and trailing a little, you squeeze a little more again. Obviously it’s situation dependent, with how much speed you’re carrying, but you do it consistently with most corners, lap after lap and again, it clearly works.
In all the videos I’ve watched, no one has talked about using the technique in the way that you do, and considering how fast you are, I’m surprised that more don’t.
Yes it's a conscious thing which I never used to do. Having the car settled just allows me to carry a little more corner speed. 👍

How do you get your spotter to provide License and safety rating??? I use crew chief, and I don't see a setting for that. I also like how he tells you your incident point total. Is that in Crew Chief or part of Racelabs.??
Dave Can I ask something please? I want to know if you would be able to do a weekly video showing how people could have avoided certain incidents. I know some incidents are unavoidable, but I think if you do this then a lot of inexperienced and even experienced racers will see this and improve the overall quality of racing.

yeah... same here... taking out a few days as in 1 week i fell from 2,2k to below 1.8 and from 2.9 SR to 1.01 A oval license.

Seems pretty hit and miss. Was in the 2nd split of G4 yesterday and the top 8 cars finished in their Qualifying position -1 (#2 car spun and lost 7 positions). The level of carnage was nowhere near what was seen here and it was mostly at the back of the race. (I started 5 and finished 4).
should i start a new account? By the time I realize how iR works I am now in the devils rear end with a bunch of phycos & I don’t think I’m going to make it out. Unless this is normal & I need to stick it out?

GT4 this week has felt like a rookie race, that's for sure. Dunno what it is about this combination but it's been an absolute wreckfest. I've had a much better time doing IMSA at Barcelona.

I am new to Iracing (2 months) and have worked my way up to C Licence but have decided to race Toyota GR86 in D Licence to develop my skills. Although I'm not just yet going to move up in GT racing I am looking at what Competition to move into after GR86. As a new driver developing skills am I better to go into GT4 or GT3 or does it not really matter. At this stage as I'm learning I ignore my IRating and am more interested in skill development rather than finishing position, so I guess which class well develop my skills better?
I'm personally doing GT4 first, its a bit easier and more manageable and plenty to learn
I only race in A class and Mute everyone. Again its the people that ruin the game. I only unmute when I made a mistake and say sorry.
