      Roanoke Gaming I definitely think you should talk about all forms of the hunters and I think it's worth mentioning you should speak about the hunter forms in halo wars 2. Colony, skitters and goliaths as well as the hunter captain are all interesting units. For instance did you know skitterers bond with the target you pick and can not be unbounded with said target until the mission is over. It's also worth mentioning colony seems to be a much smarter pair of hunters as before nobody could control skitterers until colony came along and did it.before the skitterers would go feral and rampant. Also vehicle symbiote suggests hunter warns for a time can optimize vehicles by crawling inside them. Just thought I'd share that. I hope you do more hunter videos they are by far my favorite covenant species.

      I mean you can try to protect the grunts, but either they have plasma pistols or needlers and are almost totally useless, or you give them a fuel rod cannon and they become somewhat useful....till they kill themselves and half your team because just like humans with rocket launchers, the game AI doesn't understand that firing explosives at something 1 meter away from you will kill you, and firing them at things 1 meter away from your buddy will kill your buddy. Hunters are not only useful but easy to protect, only thing you really gotta look out for is a brute going into berserk mode, they seem to be able to kill a hunter pretty well when they have lost their shit and went berserk.

      @domc9801 6 лет назад +17

      TREE MASTER BOB I'd say since it's a game and no real graphic nature it's hard to tell, but it's tough to kill a hunter with let's say a normal assault rifle or plasma rifle than a rocket launcher, flame grenade or even an energy sword, so it's probably killing the whole of them since they are closely bonded together.

    • @MrJay_White
      @MrJay_White 6 лет назад +14

      thats kinda fucked up. if they form a communal intelligence, doesnt that mean those individuals remember being "killed" when the collective mind is destroyed?

    • @cyqry
      @cyqry 6 лет назад +17

      Mr Jay White
      I imagine because they lack any sense of intelligence before forming together, they probably don't have any "memories" as such. And when they do connect together, they become one, so like others have said they won't so much remember their "friends" being killed but rather part of their own body being hurt. You've got to imagine how long they created these colonies before encountering other species, their society has probably just accepted each Mgalekgolo as a single entity, rather than scores of entities attached together.
      As for whether we're killing them all or not... they form a nervous system to effectively move. Parts of it may be damaged individually, but if you cause enough total trauma, then the entire thing just shuts down (complete death).

      I did know that some scarabs, particularly the ones seen in Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST are piloted by a lekgolo colony, but I did not actually consider that to be a type of colony in the same way a Mgalekgolo is. I suppose technically pilot colonies are different but I just never thought of them that way.
      Of course, other scarabs can be piloted by more conventional means as seen in Halo 2.

    Is the reason that Mgalekgolos often attack in pairs still canon?
    I read somewhere that if a Mgalekgolo colony grows big enough, it often splits into two normal sized colonies, working in tune with each other like telepathic twins.
    It also said that when one of the pair falls, the other enters a state of rage.

    • @lunokhod3937
      @lunokhod3937 6 лет назад +22

      I think this still stands. In every halo game to date Mgalekgolos have always been deployed in pairs, except on special occasions like with the Hunter Captain and Goliath in HW2 which i guess aren't technically Megalekgolos anyway. Some games, well, at least halo 5, even have the hunters enter a more aggressive state when their partner is killed.

    • @11Survivor
      @11Survivor 6 лет назад +5

      It's actuallly because one Hunter is only half a colony, that's why they're almost always deployed as a pair, and they go into a rage because you killed its sister colony.

    Why do they see only the elites as worthy of talking to? Is it because the arbiter of the time was a good warrior? Would they talk to the master chief if in a situation to do so for those reasons?

    • @RoanokeGaming
      @RoanokeGaming  6 лет назад +60

      Because Elites are the ones that bested them in combat and it seems they understand the social hierarchy with the elites and san shyuum at the top. Would they talk to humans? More than likely if they weren't attacking us, maybe something we will see in Infinite

    • @11Survivor

    Mgalekgolo is pronounced with the nasal "ng" in mga. It came from the Tagalog word (mga) in the Philippines which changes the number of a noun from singular to plural when attached. Basically, lekgolo becomes plural when attached with mga. So if lekgolo means (a) worm, then mgalekgolo just means worm(s).

      I checked with my mother (cebuano) and it seems it is also an Ilonggo (neighbouring language/dialect) term, kind of. It means something roughly like "those that fight/are aggressive". So you could suggest that Mgalekgolo form would mean something like "warrior form". Pronounced as "M-nga-lek-go-loh" with a hard emphasis on the "loh". Ng as in the final phoneme in 'bring'.

    As for doing videos for the different types of Legos, uh yes please.
    Also, I remember reading that the lekgolos are hyper aware of their surroundings, so it could possess some really astounding senses.

    Was this lore established after Halo CE? Im curious why hitting 1-2 worms in the neck or back will kill it entirely. Im guessing maybe when they combine they create a single being that it requires every worm originally used to create the being, Similar to "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link". One part is broken so the rest are useless?
    Or possibly the species' downside is when they form a single being, it is a single being until they choose to deform, meaning that if they die as a single being they are treated as a single being and not multiple creatures as one. Roughly like when you die in the Avatar state youre fucked, lol.
    Either way killing one brother causing another to go berserk is kinda sad.

    • @22steve5150
      @22steve5150 6 лет назад

      Since it is a Spartan doing the hitting, maybe the blow sends a shockwave through the soft body mass that kills the closest worms and stuns many of the rest of them, and by the 2nd or 3rd hit enough worms are dead that though many of the worms are still alive, there aren't enough of them to maintain the hunter form, either due to not enough worms to have the strength to move that form (mechanical stress of maintaining the hunter structure and carrying that armor plating and fuel rod gun) or not enough worms to have the hive mind sentience to be able to form an effective super-organism or function in that form in a meaningful way.

    • @charchadonto
      @charchadonto 6 лет назад

      it was simply game mechanics in Halo 1. All the orange of the hunter counted as a body, neck, stomach, back. Any hit there did damage as if it was a body, worse, it was supceptible to headshots, hence you can shoot a hunter with a sniper rifle or pistol and kill it with one hit. Same counted for melee.
      Halo 2 had Hunters that were invincible to melee whatsoever from the player, even energy swords and bruteshot melee didnt do anything.

    So they're a bunch of small organisms getting together to make a bigger organism. Humans would inevitably find out how they communicate and work to disrupt them. They'd just fall apart. Or you could just freeze them. Maybe. I dunno, never met one.

    Honestly I still find the fact they can interface with technology to be one of the most fascinating things about them. I still wonder to this day if it would be hypothetically possible for them to interface with cybernetics and, if so, what that might ultimately mean. Could an elite meld minds with a colony of Lekgolo? A human? What would that even be like? How would that feel? Would you just be able to communicate with them or would your consciousness become one with the greater whole? I'd really love to know honestly.
