    @ 14:00 - Thanks for pointing this out. I was wondering how RTK would get exact coordinates corrections to the drone since the ground station was set up on a regular tripod. Oh well, as a surveyor I need to find another dream drone. Until then, the P4P will do the job.

      @buzzell360 Sorry no. TO do a real true comparison between 336 and 640 we really need the 25mm version lenses which are more expensive and hard to come by. I will see what we can do.

      @buzzell360 To properly compare the different resolutions we need similar angle of views which would require the 25mm for the 640.

    I don't mean to be deadhead to this video but ADS only works if other aircraft are equipped with ADS-B out. So most likely you won't be able to see is small aircraft in your screen if it's not equipped with ADS-B out installed.

      WingmanDK: It tests very well with small planes and helicopters almost all of which have it. You are correct it won't pick up big airliners which is not the intention of the detection.

    Very informative video. My company bought the M210 RTK and until now the RTK mode is very frustrating to use (just using GPS mode in the meantime). We can't get it to work unless it's in an open field. You mentioned at the 12:27 mark that it can fly in any type of environment. But even in our parking lot, we're not able to take it off, much more if it's on the ship's deck where we're intending to use for inspection most of the time (actually I've already tried and got all sorts of errors, compass error, magnetic interference). I hope you can give me some tips using the RTK mode in a magnetic interference environment. Thanks in advance.

    Dave, Great video. You mentioned that the M210 RTK does not need a ground station like the M600 does. Could you elaborate a little bit please ? Why doesn't the m210 rtk need a ground station, and are there tutorials here to set up the M210 rtk ?

    • @SteelCityDrones

      We are actually recommending the Matrice 300 over the 200. M210 RTK and M300 RTK both use NTRIP so the base station can be broadcast over the network. We have tutorial videos in our Matrice 200 and Matrice 300 online courses we have on our site. We also sell these aircraft as well. Contact us.

    The factory case is the largest allowable size for most overhead bins on-board commercial airliners, and can travel with you as a carry-on bag. The GPC case that you seem to love so much must be transported as checked baggage. One factor that 99% of the posted videos over-look.

      Actually that is not true, a customer of mine got rejected by Delta. And yes you should absolutely check the case in so that you can carry on your batteries.

    Please advise me if Crystal sky + Matrice 210 RTK can do Waypoints, without camera system connected to the Gimbal. Reason being is we will have extra units that will only carry a specific Payload ( survey tool with independent software application ). So the drone job is only to fly the designated Waypoints whilst the apparatus is doing geographical ground survey (5metres from ground )
    Your advise will be appreciated. Will the FPV enough to see where the drone is heading?

    Great video! So using the RTK mode, can the 210RTK hover stably under a low lying concrete bridge that is 20ft over fast-flowing, dirty river water? Or would the vision sensors cause the drone to panic and fluctate if it was sitting say 4ft over the water? Thanks.

    It doesnt make sense for DJI not to use the expensive RTK positioning system for reducing the ground control points

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  6 лет назад +4

      I was told there was technology limitations as for the reason why they coudn't do it. This started when the M600 RTK was released and many people (including myself) bought that copter because we were under the impression that it could do it. Imagine spending $10K plus on a system thinking it can something that it can't. That's why I wanted to include this info in the video. Believe me, there have been numerous people complaining to DJI about it. If you want it added I suggest you go to the DJI Enterprise group on facebook and complain. There's several DJI people on there that are responsible for the RTK project and the more feedback they hear the better.

      RTK linking the geotiff positions technology is already old so this DJI scheme doesnt make sense business wise for mapping and surveying if you paying over US$7000 for the RTK and still have to put the GCP in the field with an RTK rover (cheapest option) This Matrice 210 RTK-G is no enterprise UAV solution then.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  6 лет назад +1

      I have to disagree with that point because the advantages of using a commercial grade GPS system over a consumer grade GPS system can come in very handy when doing commercial grade jobs. This system works great if you are near a lot of metal or have a lot of electromagnetic environments where you need inspect power lines. I bought my M210RTK because of these situations and it allows me to work in environments that I simply can't with a consumer grade GPS system.

    The m200 or 210 when flying for. What is being transmitted to the controller screen? The built in fpv nose mounted camera or the attached camera.? And can you change back and forth between the 2?

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  5 лет назад

      When you are flying in the air you can see both the FPV camera and main video camera feed. By default the main camera feed is in the middle of the screen and the FPV camera feed is in the lower right hand corner. You can switch between the two very easily so that the FPV camera is the main feed in the middle of the screen.

    I have a question relating to the batteries. You say that you can only carry two TB55 spare batteries with you on the airplane. Is this true? They are rated 177 Wh and is above the limit of 160 Wh set by the FAA and ICAO.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the comments. The TSA has a policy of unlimited amount under 100 WH. Above that rating it becomes very restrictive.

      Steel City Drones What about over the 160 Wh limit?

      I don't believe you can carry on over that.

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  6 лет назад

      The TSA allows you to carry an unlimited amount of batteries that are rated under 100 wh. DJI designed the TB50's specifically in mind to meet this spec. TB50's are the largest size you can carry on in an unlimited capacity.

    Which drone system is recommended for mapping and surveying purposes to eliminate a lot of ground control points

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  5 лет назад +1

      It depends on your clients needs and expectations for how tight they want the accuracy. The current RTK system can get tighter than a standard GPS system but still not eliminate GCP's. Reducing GCP's can be problematic, its best to go with reusable, portable GCP's that way you won't have extra money for someone to shoot control. I think the new P4Pro RTK will probably be the most accurate system but we don't have one yet to compare and test.

    Great job! I work for a municipality that would like a drone for mapping, SAR, Emergency inspections, as well as marketing videos. The quality of the marketing stuff does not have to be top of the line. I feel like this would be the best drone for everything but cinematography although it seems that if we bought the x5s with it, it could do it all. Would you guys agree that the 210rtkv2 with a z30, xt2 and x5s would be the best fit? I feel like We May not need the RTK because we would only use it during emergency bridge inspections. Thoughts? Thanks!

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  5 лет назад +2

      The RTK version is great when you have to work around a lot of metal. If you have the RTK version and are not flying around a lot of metal on any specific day you don't have to use the Ground station or the RTK system. You can simply turn it off in the app and use as needed. That way you have the best of both worlds and have the RTK system as needed. We can offer the best pricing for the M210 line along with all the accessories. We can beat any price and offer technical support and maintenance support contracts as well. We can also provide training on how to use all the equipment. Let me know if we can help. Thanks

      The M200-M210 is good for survey work because you can use the X5S and get really good flight times with it if you use the TB55 batteries. Good flight time is really important, the less flights the more efficient your overall ground control design can be.

    I am starting a drone business around the first of the 2019 and am currently shopping for a drone upgrade. Not sure specifically what I will be doing but want to make sure the drones I have will be flexible enough for the kinds of work that I want to do - the M210 family looks promising to me, except that in your video review you say that the M210-RTK isn’t accurate enough for mapping projects.
    Is this a problem that has been fixed since your review? Can you elaborate on what the issues are? Can you suggest a better drone if Mapping is one of the missions?
    Thanks,
    David Ransier

    • @SteelCityDrones
      @SteelCityDrones  5 лет назад +4

      HI Dave. First let me clarify that we never said that the aircraft isn't accurate enough for mapping projects. Accuracy is also relevant, some clients and projects can get away with 12 inches, some clients need 1/10 of a foot of accuracy. As we stated in our video the M210 RTK is not good enough for very tight accuracy without ground control points. This is pretty much the same for any aircraft on the market. Now there is a new Phantom 4 Pro RTK that we just received and are in the middle of testing it. We are going to test with and without the RTK to see what kind of accuracy we get. We will have a full video on this early January. Hope this helps answer the technical side of the question. As far as starting a business in 2019, I strongly suggest that you develop a good business plan first before deciding to spend a large investment on drone equipment. If you need further advise to develop a business plan we do offer "Ask the Pro" consultation to help people like yourself in these situations. Let me know if we can help further.

      Hello Michael I am not sure what you mean. Are you comparing a plane to the 210? A plane and a drone are not at all comparable. Each have their own functionality that the other can't do. A Plane can't hover. A plane can't take high quality pictures, video or infrared imagery without being spending at least $75,000 in modifications. A plane can't do bridge inspections. A Typical Cessna 172 that has reasonable miles on it in good condition is about $85,000. Storage fees are about $300 per month and then you have another $1000 a year for maintenance and inspections. A M200 has a base price that starts under $6000. Even if you purchased the top line model that has the best of everything including camera sensors you still are under $40K with no annual expenses.
