***** Myke C sniffed out the fake. He gets my respect for that even more. This album was hard because it wasn't made by Drake. All the hard songs he got reference tapes for. He rapped more on this album than any album before...it made me change my mind about him. And now we know why...
BigBangTheory92 Wow...you acting like a salty fool. I'm sorry. It makes sense that he didn't write those songs. They were basically turn up songs that were trendy. They lacked substance. ***** LMAO why are cover songs excluded when they regularly did that? That's a ridiculous thing to say. And what did you gather from my comment to make you think I didn't know the difference between a producer of hip hop to a producer of rock music? Getting back to my original point. If you like Drake that's cool, so do I actually, but he's a hip pop artist, and most artists in the pop world have a team of people behind them helping them get into the mainstream charts. Drake came from the acting world into rap, so he's very good at acting like a rapper and using other peoples stuff. Not saying that the end product is unlistenable.

I like the darker tone of this tape. It didn't blow me away, but it provides some good late night vibe music and some of those beat switch-ups are fire (especially on "No Tellin'" and "Know Yourself"). The first 6 songs are the best part of it, but then the rest of it is hit and miss for me.
+Luke James (Album Reviews) I liked this one too. It's probably the only drake project I like so far, mainly because for the most part of it he settled for that 0 to 100 formula, which i do enjoy
No tellin second verse was really good surprisingly. He said "thinking they're lions and tigers and bears I go hunting put hands on my fireplace, oh my."
Looking back at it, Feefo's the one I agree with on this review. The beats were laid back, but dope. I mean come on, Know Yourself and Legend are good songs. I don't think Drake is that good of a rapper by any means, but this record is alright. Drake get's too much hate for his style in my opinion.
Hurr Lover it seems like he can rap well when he wants to, but those songs come sparingly unfortunately because he's too busy trying to make poppy radio records. He's technically skilled when he wants to be I'll give you that.
This is his Mixtape. His real album (View From The 6) will be coming out later this year. He released this mixtape as an Album so he could finish his 4 Album Contract with Cash Money Records. I thought this was Drakes most consistent album yet. I love his other albums too but i can seriously put this on and play it all the way through no matter what i'm doing.
I can't believe the first rapper /singer you thought of was Ja Rule. Traditionally women do the singing rapping thing way better. The best examples I can think of are Missy E Elliot and the second needs no introduction Lauryn Hill. Andre 3000 also did a lot of singing. I can't think of another male rapper other than Drake who sung on an entire song apart from Kanye. Anyway I liked this album /mixtape whatever you want to call it.
Ya'll are BUGGIN, this is Drake's best, most consistent album. I usually like a handful of songs off each project. This is the one Drake album I can just let play start to finish and I get everything I want out of a Drake project.
I usually like DEHH reviews but this is so hypocritical in my honest opinion. First they say, "Drake does the same thing over and over again" then says "10 bands sounds nothing like Drake, he should stick to what he's good at" ... so confused lmao! Then saying how one of the dudes hates 'You & the 6' then says how Drake never talks about content T_T but in this song he talks about his broken family which millions of people can relate to as to being the middle man (the child) between the two parents. Honestly "one mans trash is another mans treasure" has never been such an accurate statement in terms of music as a whole. If you look at the numbers in terms of sales and being 'box office' he's the best and thats why he's acting "hard" in some songs. But he's obviously not allowed to do that ...because he sings too? Drake raps about what he's doing right aka expanding his business (OVO, joining the Toronto Raptors, the '6' movement), not settling, but trying to keep close with the people thats stuck with him. So if Drake is working on his brand and trying to move 'up' what else is he supposed to talk about? You want him to make shit up? So people can bash him how he didn't grow up in deep poverty. Drake relates to millions of people that didn't grow up in the ghetto, are just striving to be the best, put in the work and see tangible benefits. Everybody should be this confident about themselves, and this just happens to be music so it's addressed. Cheer I'll continue to watch DEHH just not the Drake reviews!
They don't like it because he's trying to fit in with everybody else, and make the music everybody else is making. Myke even said that Drake's albums aren't bad they're just not for him. They're criticizing him for not being his usual creative self and instead trying to conform to all the bullshit music that's out there.
xIVIotiive well then I tend to disagree if this album really is a layover for VFT6. to say its not creative doesn't understand exactly what he's trying to accomplish in terms of his label, brand and not to mention this album is the most I've heard Drake being so cocky on almost every song. I will say this people chirp him for not rapping when he can rap (aka Charlamagne da God) ...this album had a lot of rap songs, he brags and has the numbers to prove it. Yes there are a lot of bullshit music that say the same things but how many can say it and have the actual numbers to prove it? Anyways, I agree that Drake albums arent for everyone but to say he's not his usual creative self then you don't really listen to Drake then, he's all about tangible and numbers. "doing is one thing, doing it right is a whole different story" - Preach
To me, he usually brags better than this, and the beats sound so lazy to me. Even though some of the beats are lazy, I still like them but it's just not as good as Take Care to me. He tried to fit in, and I didn't like it. Of course I'm not the biggest Drake fan, but I can respect his artistry. This just wasn't Drake to me.
Drake is ok. But its just the same recycled, ego driven raps. He was interesting at first. But like Beezy, said no growth. I think what's frustrating is that, I think Drake could do better, like I expect some rappers to rap about the same thing (Migos, Rich Homie Quan, etc). There lyrical story telling just does not have that much depth and they just aren't that talented as far as bars. But I truly believe Drake could go a little "deeper", get a bit more personal, diversify his topics etc......but he just doesn't. And doesn't seem to even want to.
You gotta review Big Sean - Dark Sky Paradise next. He really stepped up his shit from his past 2 albums, better production, better features and he sounds more confident. Unlike Hall of Fame, where he sounded uninspired and bored. I think every track is very well put together and they blend nicely (except Play No Games, which was the weakest track). Overall, it's his best album to date, and it might have topped his Detroit mixtape.
LukeKTT Big Sean CANNOT rap. He's bars are either terrible or tolerable. His beats can't even save him. WHO THE FUCK GETS BODIED BY WAYNE ON THEIR OWN SONG?! IT'S 2015
This interview makes Myke look like a genius as he correlates the idea that this album doesnt "sound like Drake", prior to what went down, just my thoughts, i got a lil bit of chills watching this again...
1. Take Care 8/10 2. If You're Reading This It's Too Late 8/10 3. Comeback Season 7/10 4. So Far Gone 6/10 5. Nothing Was The Same 5/10 6. Thank Me Later 4/10
Doing know how I found myself here. But it’s crazy the amount of people hate on his music when it first releases but then love it years later. Also it seems like because many Americans don’t understand anything about Canada and the vibe throughout the 4 seasons, it’s hard to gravitate to the beat selection and atmosphere it creates
This album takes a few listens to get into just like Nothing Was the Same. It's a solid mixtape. It lacks the heart and focus of an album and there's def some clear throwaways here. I like the fact that Drake is experimenting with different styles. He says on the tape "had to switch the flow up it was getting too predictable." It makes sense he needs to evolve and that takes experimenting. It def wasn't anything mind blowing and Drake can't put out a free mixtape cuz he sells way too much for that. And as much as you can say he's biting I mean all rappers get inspired by others. He does their styles better than them which is dope. He does the Migos flow so good you would think he made it up. And I disagree with Myke, Drake is not a good enough singer to hold down an entire R&B album. His straight R&B tracks are some of his worst. He's at his best when he mixes the two which I think he did best on Nothing Was the Same.
Why is it so hard to believe that this is, in fact, a mixtape? The flows are nothing that Drake's done before. The beats are unique to what he's done before. It was dropped without any warning. Progression is progression, but this is something completely different than anything he's done before. It has all of the markings of an experiment, a mixtape. Just because he's charging money for it means nothing. So Far Gone was also a mixtape that he charged for. This is a mixtape.
Except you can get So Far Gone on Datpiff... He sold So Far Gone after he released it as a MIXTAPE. Why is everybody Tryna give him a pass? Yes he did numbers but that don't mean it was a good project. The beats sounded generic and the lyrics are just recycled. The concepts of these songs were just reskinned versions of his old song concepts. Nothing innovative. nothing fresh. nothing. But eat it up as you please. Just don't say it was a great project because it really wasn't.
Baldomero Salinas Yeah, and then he sold the mixtape on iTunes; he charged people for the mixtape. That's exactly what I said because that's exactly what he did. A pass for what? I didn't say it was a good mixtape. I said that it is, in fact, a mixtape because it has all of the marking of a mixtape. Why are all of you people trying to call it an album? There's obviously bad blood between Drake and his label, so he released this mixtape in a pay-to-play format to end his "debt" to Cash Money. But you know what? Just because you're a ditto-head dick, I'm going to counter everything that you said, because I know you're the kind of loser that says things without thinking: The beats sound generic? So every single song on this tape had a generic sound to it? Really? So despite the fact that many of the songs can be sectioned off into two parts because of beat change-ups, that's still generic? I'll be the first to admit that I think there are several tracks on here that feature generic beats. In fact, I'll list them: 6 God, Preach and 6 Man. Recycled lyrics? Okay, you're going to need to prove that the lyrics are recycled. I've listened to his three studio albums, and they lyrics don't appear to be recycled to me. But hey, I'm not trying to be a senseless hater, so that could be the reason why. Dude, this mixtape depicts a modern-day Drake. How in the fuck could this tape be re-skinned versions of past songs? Just because he revisits Canada as a topic setting doesn't mean the meaning of the songs are the same, simpleton. When did I say the mixtape was innovative? The only project that I would say is innovative and successful, in my eyes, is Take Care, and that's mostly because of all of the songs and hooks The Weeknd gave to Drake. But I never said this mixtape was innovative. I also didn't say it was fresh. Can you read, dude? Seldom to I find a mixtape that actually innovates. Mixtape are usually small experiments. The studio albums are where the innovation, if any, can be found. But that's just logical to acknowledge. It wasn't a good mixtape to you. Okay, what does that have anything to do with me calling it a mixtape. Again, I ask: can you read? I never commented on the quality of the tape as you clearly imply I did before now. Regardless, your opinion doesn't matter to me, kid. As a matter of fact, I want to thank you because you made me realize just how fantastic this tape is. Why responding to you, I put it on again, and I'm finding little nuances that I hadn't discovered before, and dude is incredibly lyrical. Most of the beats are completely killer, and this is only the prelude to his next full-length LP? Shit. I don't know who your favorite rapper is, but damn he's/she's going to get merked come the release of Views From The 6.
I disagree with Feefo, that Drake would be a legend if he died today. That's not a knock against Drake, but music is predominately a years game. I'm not the biggest fan of Wayne, but I'll admit that he would be considered more of a legend because he's been in the game longer and had more of an influence.
This "Wave Flow" or whatever that Drake is On right now has been done before, by many MCs... Remember Pharcydes "Passin Me By" "Now in my younger days, i used to sport a Shaaaaaaaggggg. When i went to school i carried lunch in a bag.." Thats really CALIs Style.... Drakes on it now, its been Recycled. Cali is Active.
I wish Drake would straight up become an R&B artist, he's cool as a rapper but R&B is where he shines in my opinion, maybe he's not trying to do any genre in particular
ctown stole the words out of my mouth. I enjoy drakes music and lyrics but this was a step down. No effort until the last track. I thought i was bugging when i heard Fanthano give this a good review.
I think it's Drakes best project in ages. To me there were no bullshit tracks like worst behaviour, wu tang forever or started from the bottom. He spat on most of these tracks and they all had pretty hard beats. Only tracks I was hating were the partynextdoor ones.
Couldn't disagree more, this the first album post-persona change. It feels forced. Fake aggression (Used To, 6 God), uninspiring delivery (10 Bands, Know Yourself, Madonna, Preach) idk all his albums are pretty up & down tracklist-wise but as a whole I couldn't enjoy this one.
Can i be honest and say that there should be a part two? Ive been to listening more and more to the mixtape and instead of liking and not liking i feel theres more to discuss with this album. Its like what ken said and i agree that this time around drake did go outside the box in a way with songs like Madonna AND the fact that he only had so many features.. AND this is the 2nd album without a nicki feature.. AND what about 6pm in New York? There are some lines in there worth talking about.. like the whole RIP thing and then saying how four weeks later no one speaks about it.. im curious to hear you guys thoughts on that..
Drake is just following Wayne and Jay-Z's footsteps. He realized he has a fan base that will eat up anything he drops and call it classic and will invest in almost anything with his name on it he doesn't feel he needs to try anymore. Drake gave everyone a mixtape of tracks that were thrown off of VFT6. Only reason this is being called an album is because you can purchase it on iTunes.
I miss the creative Drake. Drake is night and day compared to his early mixtapes and his first 3 albums. Now he sounds like a bulk of other rappers with no originality. If this was really just a trow away, then tell your fans that. Say "Hey, don't buy this. I'm trying to get out of my label." Drake has reached a status where people like Lil' Wayne and Taylor Swift are. No matter what they put out, people will buy it so they don't have to put any effort into it.
Lol u think that because I listen to jarren Benton instead of drake? Face facts drake is garbage and makes hip-pop music. Who u listen too rick Ross, lil Wayne, migos?!
Every drake album is beezy's least favorite drake album lol

To me, he usually brags better than this, and the beats sound so lazy to me. Even though some of the beats are lazy, I still like them but it's just not as good as Take Care to me. He tried to fit in, and I didn't like it. Of course I'm not the biggest Drake fan, but I can respect his artistry. This just wasn't Drake to me.
MykeCtown hates Drake -_- lol
Yooo double4 you watch these too damn
Double4anime lmaooo
His mind is in the right place
He does. And i get it. I do too
@@vladimirklizschko9337 cause you're a fucking hater and a follower
i actually really liked this album/mixtape i liked it a little more than NWTS it was like 3 songs i didn't like.
***** lol somewhat
Drake is ok. But its just the same recycled, ego driven raps. He was interesting at first. But like Beezy, said no growth. I think what's frustrating is that, I think Drake could do better, like I expect some rappers to rap about the same thing (Migos, Rich Homie Quan, etc). There lyrical story telling just does not have that much depth and they just aren't that talented as far as bars. But I truly believe Drake could go a little "deeper", get a bit more personal, diversify his topics etc......but he just doesn't. And doesn't seem to even want to.
Party around the block had me dying 😂😂
JustMY OpinioN for real lol
Myke's impersonation of a Klan member at 13:00 was hilarious lmao, made me spit out my coffee.
"PartyNextDoor? He need to party around the block." Hahahahaha
I'm really growing away from theneedledrop. Props to DEHH
+Cole Pace why not both?
Juan Solorio I do still watch both, I'm just enjoying Dead End Hip Hop's style a little more.
+Juan Solorio because needledrop disagrees w/ him on the album lol
Because theneedledrop has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to hip hop
+John Berry its tough to watch only one perspective of rap opinion but DEHH has four perspectives and its nicer honestly
Can't wait for myke to review views
Still waiting for the review
+Issachar Lol just watched it. Loved it. Myke went off as always.
Modest Media's laugh haunts me in my sleep.
Dark Sky Paradise was one of the worst albums I've ever heard in my life.
LilSlykk1 Do you use full stops? I don't even know what you said.
RiskyNonsensev02 Then you need to listen to more music. This album was a strong 8/10. People just don't understand what it's purpose is.
LukeKTT Big Sean CANNOT rap. He's bars are either terrible or tolerable. His beats can't even save him. WHO THE FUCK GETS BODIED BY WAYNE ON THEIR OWN SONG?! IT'S 2015
RiskyNonsensev02 Don't mind PukeKTT... He has terrible taste in music !!!
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO PartyRoundTheBlock @13:42.
To find out he switches up his style and doesn't sound like himself because someone else wrote the bars is crazy
so how do we know his work before this wasn't ghostwritten? lol
I'm with Ken, ain't bad at all....
Herman Virk im with him. Its kot a Top 10 album to me but it has some gems. The producction is great and some really catchy hooks
MYKE youre going to hate views it sucks.
+jose ramirez you were right
S Brooks lmao
He's going to hate anything he puts out
This interview makes Myke look like a genius as he correlates the idea that this album doesnt "sound like Drake", prior to what went down, just my thoughts, i got a lil bit of chills watching this again...
Xavier Lamar, a.k.a benz is to him a dream car.
That Drake impression had me dying laughing for like 3 minutes straight.lol
it’s so interesting to watch this now in the streaming age & hear them talking about purchasing the album rather than just streaming it
How much can change in just 5 years. Crazy.
I still buy albums lmao
did people not stream music in 2015 or something ?
@@rillthing spotify was already a thing in 2015 idk wtf they on about
@@rillthingyeah I had this album on Spotify
1. Take Care 8/10
2. If You're Reading This It's Too Late 8/10
3. Comeback Season 7/10
4. So Far Gone 6/10
5. Nothing Was The Same 5/10
6. Thank Me Later 4/10
Sonic the Hedgehunk so far gone 6/10 Thank me later had enough hidden gems to get it a 5.5
Doing know how I found myself here.
Can't stop replaying Rod's laugh at the beginning of the video. Someone needs to make a compilation.
"He need to Party Around the Block" LMAOOOOOOOO B.
I actually like when Drake raps or does the rapsing thingy.
So far gone was for free
Except you can get So Far Gone on Datpiff... He sold So Far Gone after he released it as a MIXTAPE. Why is everybody Tryna give him a pass? Yes he did numbers but that don't mean it was a good project. The beats sounded generic and the lyrics are just recycled. The concepts of these songs were just reskinned versions of his old song concepts. Nothing innovative. nothing fresh. nothing. But eat it up as you please. Just don't say it was a great project because it really wasn't.
mixtapes are free, champ
jfraz1992 And you can buy it on iTunes.
Just because you're a ditto-head dick, I'm going to counter everything that you said, because I know you're the kind of loser that says things without thinking:
The beats sound generic?
8:59 I ALWAYS return back to this part. It's puts a big Ol smile on my face.
Who else comes back to hear the "PartyRoundtheBlock" part? Fucking kills me.
Drake gives you songs that can make you bop your head and songs that will make you sleep. Drake is for the vibe, not for the lyrics.
You're super right actually. What'd you think of Views?
I think Myke calls it "nap rap"
Prod. Flip that's not good then
Most of that credit goes to 40 though
13:30 he said who's party next door? he need to party around the block. LMFAO.
I disagree with Feefo, that Drake would be a legend if he died today. That's not a knock against Drake, but music is predominately a years game. I'm not the biggest fan of Wayne, but I'll admit that he would be considered more of a legend because he's been in the game longer and had more of an influence.
party round the block im dead lol
Lmaooo "They won't stop doe momma"
This "Wave Flow" or whatever that Drake is On right now has been done before, by many MCs...
Remember Pharcydes "Passin Me By"
"Now in my younger days, i used to sport a Shaaaaaaaggggg. When i went to school i carried lunch in a bag.."
Thats really CALIs Style....
Lol 16:04 Mike: "Moan Rapin" 😂😂😂😂 this review was too funny
"He need to party around the block" Lmao Beezy cracks me up
Mike be doing a little too much sometimes. He seems like he has a real personal problem with Drake
Richard 82 always thought that about Big Sean. But youre right he does it with Drake as well. He has the right to do that though
Hahaha Myke you and the 6 impression hahahaha
This is by far Drake's best album/mixtape in my opinion.
rap artists have incorporated singing into hip hop for years Drake is just on another level when it comes to his vocals
I think it's Drakes best project in ages. To me there were no bullshit tracks like worst behaviour, wu tang forever or started from the bottom. He spat on most of these tracks and they all had pretty hard beats. Only tracks I was hating were the partynextdoor ones.
Lmaoo "He need to party round the block" Beezy killed it
I fuckin' love this project. Been bumpin' it 24/7 since it dropped.
really good album
Why they all hating? That tape was hard.
Myke be hitting how i feel about these mainstream rappers all the time
Sometimes when a start blinking fast repeatedly, Beezy starts to look like 2pac
"he need to party round the block!" My God, I am dying from that! Beezy you legend xD
This was suppose to be a free mixtape ,but Cash Money got involved with the matters and turned into an official release.
Kinge, you wearing eye shadow in this video dawg?? Loved the video. YOU GUYS NEED TO MAKE MORE!! Like once a week at least!
I like how these guys didn’t like this project that much but later is regarded as drakes best project
Mix tapes been called albums before a lot
What's it called? ''The bitch in me?'' hahahahahahah that was funny Myke.
Or errbody stole his style
Marquis D Who's errbody?
Justin Valentine Its errbody
