I don't hate J. Cole, he's just mediocre to me, it's his fans that really piss me off thinking they're all smarter than everyone else that get on my nerves, like people, J. Cole ain't deep, that would mean I'd need more than one listen to understand his lyrics, which I fucking don't. They all think they're so damn smart and it's annoying as hell!
What I fucking love bout this channel is there's not just one opinion or perspective. Every album that's reviewed by you guys is honest, genuine and open-minded! Y'all understand the point of reviews and that's why you're the go to for me. Just wanted to let y'all know, keep up the great work!!
Most of the J Cole hate stems from his STANS. Which is stupid because Cole never professes to be some "deep", "all knowing" prophet at all. He's just a dude who raps genuinely and isn't that concerned about who dislikes it. Kinda the same mold of guys like Cudi.
fr and people probably hate him mostly bc he get kendrick comparisons, but tbh he is the closest person to kendrick level, yet pretty behind him. thats just how outta the league kendrick is compared to everyone else.
that's why i love myke, never afraid to speak what he thinks even tho people may shit on him bc of that. my thoughts exactly, not that deep of an album...
Myke hit the nail right on the head. This album has the depth of a half-empty glass of water. So many people at work have given me shit for not liking this album, but I continually piss them off happily, this shit was boring. Frank Ocean is deeper and a better lyricist than J Cole.
J B4l1 if you think those comparisons are ridiculous then don't bring it up.. never brought kendrick into this. To me False Prophets showed why he's necessary, hip hop is too goody goody now.
As he said he's making music for niggas wearing headphones not blasting it out the speakers, once people realise that they'll get it. How can you hate a rapper, trying to rap about real things in 2016 where there's so much bs rap
For Whom The Bell Tolls & 4 Your Eyez Only are my favorite tracks. The intro is pure poetry and the final track just brings everything full circle. My favorite album this year.
The way Feefo reviewed that album, I thought I was listening to a different album... He really had to dig to find something interesting to it because this was a sleeping pill of an album... I normally like vibe albums but there is a thin line between a vibe album to a lullaby album and this album jumped straight towards lullabyland
This is why I fuck with Mykc SO MUCH!! I am a big Cole fan but the stans really give it a new level of glory when really it ain't imo. And he wasn't dissing him personally but gave solid points to why he didn't like things. I ain't hurt by this at all and it's an opinion but I respect it from everyone. Keep doing you guys ✊✊✊
How'd you feel about the album then. For me it was alright, wasn't as bad as some people were saying in my opinion, but not album of the year worthy for me...
Tha Swami personally, I think it's Cole's most mature album to date. Still can't say if it's his best album or even project yet but it's really good in that aspect. Haven't stopped listening to it since lol. Now compared to the rest of 2016, yeah, I don't think it's album of the year. It's in my top 10 tho.
I'm completely with Feefo on this. The album is not deep, fans make it seem like that and hype it up like crazy. Fuck them though. Personally, I loved how Cole portrayed the life of his boy and showed how a man can change through certain events. Also, just the idea that this album is basically a tribute aimed at the daughter of his boy is so sweet and amazing to me. Nappy beats? Maybe. I really enjoyed them. Smooth beats, some a little harder than the other. Everything just fit to me. Great album. Solid 8/10.
You took the words straight outta my mouth. Don't get why all music has to have this deep meaning behind it. It's straight forward w a little twist at the end and sonically it was pretty fucking dope
Took the words out my mouth. I can see why people didn't like this album or don't like J. cole but he doesn't make music for everyone. it is what it is, cole fans need to stop getting so butt hurt when someone doesn't like a project, its just music lol some like the slow shit and some like the ear-grabbing, aggressiveness of kendrick. i personally like both, depends on your mood
That's why I love Myke, not afraid to speak his mind. Absolutely feel him not that deep of an album at all. it's decent storytelling about himself Nothing special I'm a Jcole fan.
Might be reaching but... The 4 in the title might represent the 4 people it mainly references - Two fathers and Two children, but also it's his 4th studio album.
First started fucking with dead end two or three years ago and went a few years without being tuned in...I'm back and I'm proud to see yall still here and how far you've come!
Loved the tone of this album right off the bat - but his singing became cringeworthy as the project went on and songs like Foldin Clothes should not have made it on the project. Everybody Dies and False Prophets kind of fooled me into thinking Cole was dropping a classic. It's a pretty good album but I expected a lot more after those two tracks were released.
cole is NOT put on a higher pedestal than kendrick lol he just has more sales and hits. i don't think 4YEO was his front to back best but there were some dope ass songs that i as a longtime fan enjoyed. Half the cole memes are literally trolls there are some dumb ass stans out there but that's the price of fame
Here comes the "you need a certain level of intelligence to under..." Cole stans and the "This boring ass corny NyQuil ass album, I fell asleep trying to list..." Cole haters
This has to be the first time I disagree with Myke but I understand what he is saying. I feel like when J Cole first came into the game he was maybe the only lyricist at the time in the mainstream.People hyped him up as the " chosen one."So since he's is the chosen one everytime he puts out music in this climate where lyricism isn't popular in the mainstream, his music gets more praise that it should because his fan base compares him to everyone else that's out. The same goes for Kendrick Lamar.
2:55 actually boi1nda & another producer had the beat first. then some producers took the idea made a slightly different beat and sold it to bryson tiller. btw, this is the best analysis of the album i've heard yet
i have a year old and one month old daughter and she's mine pt2 actually makes me shed tears EVERY TIME i've listened to it because it takes me to different moments in the past year. the joy of having a young princess is incomparable. its a brand new feeling of love thats unlike any other and j cole beautifully depicts that in the song. the crying in the background takes me back to the first time i laid eyes on her in that hospital room when the doctor held her up, the references to changing diapers, the heartbeat takes me back to the sonograms and ultrasounds before i was blessed with her presence, everything about this song is incredible. great work J Cole. I can see how this album can be boring or slow to someone who isnt married and doesnt have children but to me this shit hit home like a bulls eye.
I agree with myke, it takes a very charismatic MC to pull you in and steal your attention with such mellow production and charisma is what J Cole lacks so much of. Oh and the "head game stronger than a few excedrin" line was one of the worst lines i've heard this year, those type of struggle bars are Views level of terrible.
I agree, but don't get it twisted though. Cole has charisma, he just aint got so much of it. The production was still too mellow and tame for the actual charisma he possessed. If there were some more exciting beats the project would be so much better. While some of Cole's bars are weak, the verses still hit overall. Street poetic dope stuff.
Mars Rover I mean I can understand it not being someone's cup of tea. It isn't anything amazing that say - Lupe or Kendrick would spit, but y'know they still do it for me. I feel he actually had the lyrics, all he needed to do was pick the right beats and he wasn't able to do it. I'm sure the lyrics would've been even more impactful with the right beats.
santanaoutlaw Then your opinion is wrong man Sideline Story isn't his best work, that's a fact, this "everyone got his own opinion" shit is getting outta hand lol
D Ravines They all 10's still imo I just like sideline story better And born sinner is highly slept on, especially since it came with 'Truly Yours' which is better than EVERYTHING he's ever released
Damn I agree 100% with Myke on this one. I want to like Cole but man sometimes he be saying some corny lines. But when he's on point, he is really dope. False Prophets and Everybody dies were the reason I bought his album.
It's not an opinion that Cole is severely overrated to a point that if you only heard people talk about him without ever having listened to him you'd think there was no artist in like the past 15 years that can touch him on any level. In reality he is better than most artists on the radio and average compared to people who actually have standards for Rap.
untitled As good as Kendrick is, he's not really the best. Maybe best to get grammy nods/wins in a long time but there are so many great Rappers outside of the mainstream. When you include underground groups there is a huge gap between Cole and Kdot. They aren't reallt close to each other.
like myke said it was boring and cheesy if his fans didn't hype him up probably would have been better it was not deep at all if you think this is deep you haven't listened to enough rap man this was nothing we haven't heard before its very similar to views how that album got hyped up and that album is trash I never fall asleep on albums and that legit put me to sleep i found myself wanting to fall asleep on this the story and concept is basic this was easily better than views but thats not really a good thing
dallashood67 this is youtube it is not that serious to include punctuations if you wanna be a dumbass and try and read all of it without pausing be my guess its not that deep for me
+PharaohsKingdom As a lyricist no. But kendrick will be remembered. Takes more than lyrics thats why people say tupacs the greatest instead of mf doom.
Hi guys Im a J Cole hater and hopefully I can clue you into why I dont like him. To put it as frankly as possible, he is not skilled enough to talk as big a game as he does. False prophets is an example. While what he said was valid, he has not done anywhere near enough in his career to even hold a candle to Kanye West, let alone have the right to talk about him the way he did. J Cole has truly bought into the reputation white girls have attributed to him as being a great rapper. Cole has a tendency to be corny, simpy, overly deep, and pretentious with the way he creates his music. An example is his verse on Warm Enough by DTSX. His "red balloon in the sky line" is so fucking corny when he's trying to be deep. Also I disagree with you guys about Jermaine's Interlude. That beat was fire but his fucking flow was ruined by him singing every last word of each bar. Like I cant say he killed it or did it justice because he sung part of each bar much like Drake, another wack rapper, would. Also one more thing he did that drove me crazy. No one shouldve touched Waves by Freddy Joachim after Joey. But of course Cole had to because he's "dope."
Kanye West has a machine behind him. He wouldn't be held in such a high regard If it weren't for his band of writers and the gang of producers that slave away in the studio to make him as "great" as people proclaim him to be. Imagine Kanye without Rhymefest, Consequence, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Cyhi, Malik Yusef, Ab Liva etc... to leech off of. There'd be no 808's without Cudi and T-Pain. Yeezus was a Travis Scott/Death Grips knockoff with a flawed execution. I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the point that I'm driving home
Disagree. First of all, Kanye values collaboration, and bouncing ideas, always has. That's what happened with damn near every album except the first two I believe. That's why he credits people on his albums just for damn near eating pizza in the studio. Those people don't slave away in the studio for him lol he comes up with the core concepts and ideas then he collaborates with the people you mentioned for critique, structure and improvement. It's not like they write entire verses. Kanye notoriously isn't even a great lyricist but yet the list you gave has some legit wordsmiths. Come on, it doesn't add up. In theory Kanye should have BARS but he doesn't really.
You do know that Rhymefest wrote Jesus Walk right? You do know that he wasn't credited and that was from one of his first two albums. There are articles from years ago of Consequence being upset that Ye didn't credit him on songs that he collaborated with him on. Amber Rose also spoke up against Kanye when she called him out at a nightclub, saying that Travi$ Scott writes his songs. Ye doesn't always credit his writers and on Barry Bonds around the time when it was only rumors that a lot of his songs were ghost written ye stated "I don't need writers, I might bounce ideas But only I could come up with some shit like this" which was a bold faced lie
HAHAHA Travis Scott has never made anything close to Yeezus. Do your research dude. Also we would still have College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation. Who cares who was behind him, he had the final say. Stop acting like he didnt have 100% say over what went into his albums and what didnt. The genius is in knowing what works, not generating every single idea or sound on the project. No one exists who doesnt have influences. Everyone has been influenced.
"I wanna fold clothes for ya baby" "I wanna scrub the kitchen counters for you baby." "I wanna drive you to CVS around 4:27pm baby" "I wanna bring you some juice baby" I wanna organize ya make-up cabinet baby." "I wanna do ya nails and hair baby." "I wanna watch Bravo, Own, and Lifetime with u baby." "I wanna shop at whole foods and avoid samples you dislike with you baby" Haha yo fuck dis corny ass album 4/10.
I agree with Myke to a highest degree on this one, J. Cole can rap but he takes NO risks musically and its hard to understand why he's considered so highly as an artist. Great rapper who takes no risks.
i have never agreed more with Feefo. this is the best J Cole project yet and ive been a fan since he was walking through NC with cars blowing up behind him and marching bands jamming lol foldin clothes is my favorite j cole to date. love yourself and she's mine pt2 are a close second. theres more to life than just tough bars
we need people like like myke for the sake of hip hop. like KRS one said. it can't all be KRS one and can't be all Nelly. has to be a balance and myke understands that. so people need to chill with the hate. great review guys keep it up.
Whats up guys dope review! Just wanted to clarify/point sumn cool out with the confusion on ole girl in "DejaVu" , beezy was right about "Dreams" from the warm up having a sequel but it's actually "Power Trip" from born sinner that is the sequel to that song. The video and song lyrics refer to it as well. Deja Vu is apart of the linear plot of this concept exclusively, so thats probably when he first met ole girl.
I fucking love y'all man, just wanna say I enjoy yalls reviews. Y'all do a great job of keeping me laughing throughout the whole fucking video, while still being able to be serious and review the project. Keep it going !!
I felt pretty much the exact same way as Myke...but now we need that DEHH folding clothes instructional video!

i have a year old and one month old daughter and she's mine pt2 actually makes me shed tears EVERY TIME i've listened to it because it takes me to different moments in the past year. the joy of having a young princess is incomparable. its a brand new feeling of love thats unlike any other and j cole beautifully depicts that in the song. the crying in the background takes me back to the first time i laid eyes on her in that hospital room when the doctor held her up, the references to changing diapers, the heartbeat takes me back to the sonograms and ultrasounds before i was blessed with her presence, everything about this song is incredible. great work J Cole. I can see how this album can be boring or slow to someone who isnt married and doesnt have children but to me this shit hit home like a bulls eye.
feels like Myke hates the fanbase more than the album lol
Justin Vo doesn't everybody? I don't think people hate j Cole they just hate that he releases mediocre projects but gets praised as the best out now.
ALSO SHOUT OUT TO MIKE BECAUSE HE GETS IT. HE GETS WHY J COLE IS SUB PAR AND HIS FANS ARE SO CANCEROUS BC THEY THINK HE THE NEXT PAC LOL
Romy Taylor W
BrokenGotWingz PAC is the most overrated rapper ever!
+Brandon Garza jokes on you i like biggie more
Jcole is only the goat for ppl w/in a certain maturity level.
Everthing Myke said about how most fans view Cole I agree with 100% people treat him like the messiah of rap. As a longtime fan, I don't even see it.
I've been waiting to hear this review! The best hip- hop show period!
Street poetic dope stuff.
cole can be at least decently charismatic on some songs here and there. But his laid back yet still real af style is part of his appeal imo
kashstory yea I feel you, and I can see how they would hit but to me it doesn't do it. I didn't like this album but i get why people like it
I fuck wit it. Shine bright like the patent leather on my new 11s🔥🔥🔥
Cause I got the new 11s
Mars Rover I mean I can understand it not being someone's cup of tea. It isn't anything amazing that say - Lupe or Kendrick would spit, but y'know they still do it for me. I feel he actually had the lyrics, all he needed to do was pick the right beats and he wasn't able to do it. I'm sure the lyrics would've been even more impactful with the right beats.
IM DEAD!!!!
"I expected you would fold clothes"
Ken finally roasted somebody!!
I'd still take Ab Souls album over J Coles
xdivision100 I'd still take Royce's over them both
xdivision100 ab souls new album was whack he said some retarded shit in it.
Jacob Butters true man it was a let down
dope picture
Jacob Butters bruh don't ever talk about a rapper saying retarded shit when Cole has bars like "You think you the shit but you can't outfart me".
Cole never disappoints, another dope ass album
KingLos W
L
KingLos I think Nas would disagree
Trash getting hyped now L
KingLos I like J Cole, but his album, not mixtape, compilations or Eps, always disappoints.
hey guys just wanted to say i love what you guys do and love the culture of hip hop!!! thank you all so much
Bruh, I knew I could count Myke. I was hella surprised that everyone seemed to love this project. I agree completely with him
J cole albums imo
1. 4YEO
2. 2014 FHD
3. Born Sinner
4. Cole World: The Sideline Story
Accurate
jfraz1992
Reverse imo
santanaoutlaw Then your opinion is wrong man Sideline Story isn't his best work, that's a fact, this "everyone got his own opinion" shit is getting outta hand lol
D Ravines
They all 10's still imo
I just like sideline story better
And born sinner is highly slept on, especially since it came with 'Truly Yours' which is better than EVERYTHING he's ever released
jfraz1992 Cole World is his worst project to me
Damn I agree 100% with Myke on this one. I want to like Cole but man sometimes he be saying some corny lines. But when he's on point, he is really dope. False Prophets and Everybody dies were the reason I bought his album.
Isaiah Rashad is better he can rap over sleepy beats because he is charismatic FACTS
H Bizzle 💯💯💯
H Bizzle yeeee
H Bizzle somebody had to say it cole is average Isaiah is good but he's gonna grow into a better rapper like kdot
Isaiah's album was boring too though.
Titanium50 you like that Future club music .. it's cool tho
why do i love watching these guys opinions so much
i been waiting for this....and myke did not disappoint...LETS GO CTOWN!!!!!! TALK THAT SHIT BRO
myke c town preaching the truth..
no just his opinion.
Romagical it lines up with my opinion, so to me its the truth. "Just his opinion" face ass nigga
It's not an opinion that Cole is severely overrated to a point that if you only heard people talk about him without ever having listened to him you'd think there was no artist in like the past 15 years that can touch him on any level.
In reality he is better than most artists on the radio and average compared to people who actually have standards for Rap.
hes a great rapper. second to kendrick imo, but his music isnt all that
untitled As good as Kendrick is, he's not really the best. Maybe best to get grammy nods/wins in a long time but there are so many great Rappers outside of the mainstream.
When you include underground groups there is a huge gap between Cole and Kdot. They aren't reallt close to each other.
it was trash
Offset I'm not hating on you I just want to know why you hate was it because there were no club bangers
like myke said it was boring and cheesy if his fans didn't hype him up probably would have been better it was not deep at all if you think this is deep you haven't listened to enough rap man this was nothing we haven't heard before its very similar to views how that album got hyped up and that album is trash I never fall asleep on albums and that legit put me to sleep i found myself wanting to fall asleep on this the story and concept is basic this was easily better than views but thats not really a good thing
Daquain Flood Nigga, have you ever heard of punctuation? Goddamn.
Daquain Flood please inform us on some shit today that blows Cole out the water.
dallashood67 this is youtube it is not that serious to include punctuations if you wanna be a dumbass and try and read all of it without pausing be my guess its not that deep for me
Myke keeping it 100. Let Lil wayne say those same lyrics and see what happens.
Loved the album and the review.
Thanks for always show your honest opinions...
Greetings from Brazil!
i love y'all more than what i though i could love! i think the next review is ab soul's DWTW
Forest Hills Drive was a 9/10.
This was a strong 7/10.
No one matches Kendrick artistically. We are in the midst of a great who doesnt even have to release anything to remind us of these facts.
I rock with Kendrick heavy, but you know he's not seeing Lupe Fiasco.
The Supervillain
Cole better
+PharaohsKingdom As a lyricist no. But kendrick will be remembered. Takes more than lyrics thats why people say tupacs the greatest instead of mf doom.
santanaoutlaw FOH
santanaoutlaw lmfao no one agrees with you
Hi guys Im a J Cole hater and hopefully I can clue you into why I dont like him.
Ye doesn't always credit his writers and on Barry Bonds around the time when it was only rumors that a lot of his songs were ghost written ye stated "I don't need writers, I might bounce ideas
But only I could come up with some shit like this" which was a bold faced lie
HAHAHA Travis Scott has never made anything close to Yeezus. Do your research dude. Also we would still have College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation. Who cares who was behind him, he had the final say. Stop acting like he didnt have 100% say over what went into his albums and what didnt. The genius is in knowing what works, not generating every single idea or sound on the project. No one exists who doesnt have influences. Everyone has been influenced.
AHHH Kanye haters, im out
Great work you guys, really proud of these reviews and we all really appreciate them. Thanks :)
I always love when Feefo or Beezy gets excited about a album. I’m like I gotta listen to it again
"I wanna fold clothes for ya baby"
"I wanna scrub the kitchen counters for you baby."
"I wanna drive you to CVS around 4:27pm baby"
"I wanna bring you some juice baby"
I wanna organize ya make-up cabinet baby."
"I wanna do ya nails and hair baby."
"I wanna watch Bravo, Own, and Lifetime with u baby."
"I wanna shop at whole foods and avoid samples you dislike with you baby"
Haha yo fuck dis corny ass album 4/10.
shawnz12ss I'm a huge j cole fan but this is funny as heck😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 lol lol
I’m a j Cole fan but fold clothes was trash. Smh
How the hell this is not a meme lol 22:38
Is Vice city next??? I would love to hear the opinions of DEHH
that would be dope
I CANT WAIT FOR THAT DWTW REVIEW MAAAAN
Glad myke and I have similar opinion on this. Even Cole said he fell asleep in the studio listening to this album
- Me Personally I Wouldn't Say It's Boring . I Would Definitely Take 4YEO Over Every Other Album Of His... EXCEPT For 2014FHD
I agree with Myke to a highest degree on this one, J. Cole can rap but he takes NO risks musically and its hard to understand why he's considered so highly as an artist. Great rapper who takes no risks.
This was taking a risk though 💀
This wasn't the album to put out after dropping False Prophets and Everybody Gotta Die pretty good album but much to soft after dropping those tracks
Enjoy the album?
i have never agreed more with Feefo. this is the best J Cole project yet and ive been a fan since he was walking through NC with cars blowing up behind him and marching bands jamming lol foldin clothes is my favorite j cole to date. love yourself and she's mine pt2 are a close second. theres more to life than just tough bars
we need people like like myke for the sake of hip hop. like KRS one said. it can't all be KRS one and can't be all Nelly. has to be a balance and myke understands that. so people need to chill with the hate. great review guys keep it up.
When Myke roasted folding clothes 😂😂😂
As a former J. Cole fan people in general put him on a ridiculous pedestal. Every album has been subpar at best.
Prince Revolver
FOH
santanaoutlaw you'll get over it someday.
Prince Revolver
Who's your favorite rapper? Not no mfs that don't rap anymore.
santanaoutlaw Lupe Fiasco, why does it matter who my favorite rapper is? If you like J.Cole and the album, enjoy it. I'm not stopping you.
Prince Revolver
U think Lupe better than Cole?
This was okay at best. Wasn't his worst album, wasn't his best.
